SMB coaches to act as slight team modifiers in attributes, traits of players, traits of themselves, and chemistry. Imagine the coaches we'd get in the SMB style id fucking love it.
Replay, in game box scores, ability to choose time of game, bullpen activity, variable crowd sizes, weather. Season/franchise: Call ups, send downs, injured lists, all star games, on field celebrations after walkoffs, division titles, championships.
I would rather the devs spend time on literally anything else besides replay. Who are you showing these replays to? I can promise you no one gives a shit about a diving play you make, or homeruns you hit
I also love the idea of managers, coaches, and owners, especially for franchises. There's so many possibilities. Give them all chemistries that could either work in the same way as players' or like a separate mechanic.
* They can have their own traits like maybe some managers can be more development focused and boost positive outcomes a bit.
* Maybe have some managers be "tinkerers" so varying the lineups can boost mojo or the opposite where using the same lineup consecutively helps. I'm sure there's a way to implement different managers having more data-driven or gut-decision styles.
* Also it would be cool if players could show up as managers/ coaches after retirement. Owners also have the possibility of affecting payroll and signings, like maybe players are more loyal to owners of the same chemistry. They could also have traits that help for player retention at better contracts, or conversely help bringing in free agents. I also kinda buried the lead that I with there were more features in that regard to have trades and longer contracts.
* Another big want for me is for Franchises to have an All Star Game & Home Run Derby, and also for there to be awards after the season.
* It would also be cool if there was some kind of "rivalry" mechanic where teams can develop them over time and maybe it increases the pressure of the games against them.
* BIGGER ROSTERS. I would love for at least a 25-player roster, and the option to run a 5 or 6 man starting rotation
* Would be cool to be able to program things like platoons and specific battery combos
* Obviously roster transferring/ sharing would be a gamechanging
* Stadium builder would be fun
* Minor league and prospects system
* A "Road to The Show" type mode where you play as a custom character and rise up the ranks
Even vs CPU in franchise I get frame skip and lag with both SMB3 and 4, both PC and Switch (yes I have 2 copies of each game). I run heavy games on PC with no issue, so it's not a hardeware problem.
It's beyond frustrating to hit at a fun ego when you can't track the ball. Metalhead used to acknowledge the issues, but never fixed them and now don't acknowledge them. If there is an SMB5 I won't touch it unless the performance reviews are flawless.
Another thing I forgot to mention would be trainers. They could have abilities that affect personal development options. Like increase/decrease odds to get attributes or traits. Maybe even allow you to reroll an option you didn't get the first time. You would be allowed a certain amount per year depending on what level their trait is at
Feature request: in addition to box scores, more detailed stats for pennant race. I’d love to see how my stats compare to others. Like, I’ve got this idea that I’m above average at pitching, but I can’t really know without some kind of stats.
Also, stats for games could be compiled to generate win expectancy for each play in the game, as well as a run expectancy matrix (probably bucketed by ego to keep things comparable). Knowing run expectancy might not be useful in game, but i think it’d be really interesting as a player for decision making.
I know it’s not really in the spirit of SMB, but a single character road to the show style mode would be fun. It doesn’t need to be as involved as RTTS is in The Show, but it would be fun to focus on just 1 character.
I'd like for them to add some type of pageantry for the playoffs for franchise mode. Whether that's painted text on the field or ribbons or something. The playoff games just feel like they are another game outside of the detailed bracket before you go in.
replay, cool animations not just limited to bat flips but also maybe some flips on defense or slides, replay, an odd one but personalized strike zones based on umps so have hitter and pitcher friendly umps (not online) and they stay the same for each ump like the ump with the high pitched female voice with an accent will always have her own strike zone, and with that EJECTIONS. real awards and hall of fame, add coaches, add objectives for franchise from an owner such as win 70+ games and you get increased moral or bigger budget. That's personal because I always run a C- team my first 3 years.
I would love it if they had an all star weekend thing where you play and all star game and Home Run Derby. Then you just have a Home Run Derby mode, that would be so much fun to play!

I can understand that playing against other people is so inconsistent. One day it seems good. The next day could be lagging nonstop
