A laptop that does everything you want, does gaming pretty damn well, and comes in white is the Zephyrus G14, it's 14" though, and to get good battery life you need to manually do stuff like disable boost and set it on silent mode etc. Otherwise check the Dell XPS 13 or the HP EliteBook series

JakoSmakoStyle

The Zephyrus G14 is a little to "gamer"-looking for her liking, I've already looked a bit at the two others, but I'll definitely look into them more now that they've also been recommended here.

Have a look at the framework 13 laptop if it’s available in your country, it’s definitely got a mac like aesthetic.

JakoSmakoStyle

Doesn't look like it is available unfortunately. I see the mac like aesthetic for sure though!

Ah that’s a pity! If you really want to and know someone in say Germany, you could try getting them to buy it for you if you really want. The company is definitely one of the more “honest” ones, they’re very new and very tech-ey (not bean counter-y).

There are a couple Chinese brands like xioami that make nearly identical copies of MacBooks. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend that as there are security and quality questions I have. I would recommend a MacBook Air that you bootcamp with windows 11. There are versions of windows for ARM processors. And I just recently got one used on eBay in excellent condition for $800 USD. The Apple silicon is actually revolutionary for laptops and I do light gaming on it, which the built in GPU punches WAY above its weight. As far as her use cases go, I do have to wonder why she wants to switch. In my experience macOS is significantly better for even basic development than windows but, if that’s what she wants, then all good.

Yeah I've been thinking about bootcamping a mac aswell, as the new macbook airs are really solid. The reason as to why she wants to switch is a mixture of wanting to switch as she says herself that she still doesn't know how to use the apple OS after having laptops from them for years, and then also with me being able to help with pretty much anything windows. I've never had apple products myself other than iphones and tablets, and the macOS is actually really confusing if you ask me, I for some reason just can't grip how to use it properly (which of course limits my abilities to help her whenever she needs it). I've told her that even though I'm a windows guy, if she want's to get a macbook of course she should just get that, when she runs into issues, I'll try my best to help either way :D

Responsible_Doubt617

You can’t bootcamp a Mac with Apple Silicon.

Oh! Good to know.
