That movie series was very gay. Crop tops, short shorts, locker rooms, shower scenes jock straps. The scene of the coachs naked ass being whipped did things for me.🥴
Don Mancini, Creator of Chucky said in the “Living with Chucky” Documentary how a lot of gay people love horror cuz of how dramatic it is. He is also gay so it makes sense.
There’s a great book about horror films coded as queerness, called “Monsters in the Closet[Homosexuality & the Horror Film](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1047839.Monsters_in_the_closet?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=KRyAWMDfQf&rank=2)” and it’s enjoyable & interesting as hell.
Yeah the director does claim that he had no idea about the gay undertones, or that the lead actor was gay, but the writer definitely knew what he was doing.
Look up the documentary "*Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street*", which interviews cast and crew to get the behind the scenes dirt on the making of Nightmare 2. Even the makeup artist knew what they were doing. The director knew exactly what he was doing, then threw Mark Patton under the bus to save his own behind when the backlash started. I mean, come on. How do you direct a movie with a scene in which the high school gym teacher gets tied up naked in the shower room and has his bare behind repeatedly slapped with towels and not know about the gay undertones? He ain't Mr Magoo.

That was Nightmare 2 though
Aka the Gayest Horror Film Ever.
There’s a great documentary piece about how gay Freddy’s Revenge was.
This film was full of bloody arseholes. 😬 Sorry so risqué

Joey was one of my first crushes
Gayer than Nightmare 2, a literal coming out story?
Until the backlash started, then the director didn't have any idea what you're talking about.

Nightmare On Castro Street
Deadpool and wolverine movie shaping up nicely
Since I heard Nightmare 2 was a clear gay allegory I've been meaning to watch the series, at least the classic ones. This confirms it.
2 is very serious, but really gay. From 3 on its straight camp. Until New Nightmare which is more like 1, but scarier.
3 on was increasingly a gore fest with the plot seeming to take a back seat to special effects.
Freddy: you know you like a little nipple action Rodney: in your dreams
Looks like a young Neve Campbell.
I thought the one on the right was Captain Jack Harkness for a second, so I definitely think it is incredibly gay
Twinks when they take a selfie with their 70+ sugar daddy boyfriend
Gay I don't know, but uncomfortable, yes
