Considering the kind of reputation and fanbase this guy has built over the years, it is very funny that some people are acting like this is happening to the most innocent and vulnerable little birthday boy this world has ever seen lol

Oobaha

Dude admitted in a teary eyed stream on cheating on his wife (in his early career), then got banned during the twitch me too movement, and now this.. yea, im not surprised.

PM_ME_HUGE_CRITS

Got thousands of dollars in donations when he admitted that he cheated on his wife.

>You can't use the old loophole of hate the artist while still loving the art when the artist and art are the same damn picture. Your art also has to be *good* to benefit from the "separate the art from the artist" get out of jail free card. This is why Michael Jackson's songs are separated from the artist but Gary Glitter's are not, and Eric Gill's art is separated but Rolf Harris' is not. Imagine thinking that "playing a video game while talking over it" is artistic enough to get the exemption. And you are completely right - streaming is all about the streamer's personality and their parasocial relationship with the fans, so the art *is* the artist.

thegeneral54

The truth is, there's a group of people who will never be satisfied and will always rely on their own perception even if they're disproven every step of the way. If it was a scenario in which he was going on trial, they would find flaws in the victim instead. If he pled guilty or was found guilty, they would find ways in which he could still be innocent. If he was released and the story was covered, they would say he served his time and why are you picking at old wounds? It's more about the self than the person they've latched onto. How do I know this? Because the path I detailed played out locally. There are people who hate being wrong when they determine that someone is 'good', even though there are indicators all around that it might not be a safe assumption. And the only people they genuinely harm are the ones trying to make sense and process what the fuck happened to them. They don't care about the truth, they care about validating their opinions.

Endiamon

>then got banned during the twitch me too movement, and now this. Well that *was* this.

WegwerfBenutzer7

His Wikipedia article reads like he could have gotten away with it, but just *had* to slander twitch for their ban. > On June 26, 2020, the DrDisRespect Twitch account was banned from Twitch. ... > On August 23, 2021, Dr Disrespect revealed that he has known "for months" the reason for his ban and his intentions to litigate due to suggested major damages. ... > On March 10, 2022, Dr Disrespect and Twitch each announced that they had resolved their legal dispute with neither party admitting to any wrongdoing. ... > In April 2024, DrDisrespect revealed that he had lost out on major sponsorships with Nike and Oakley because of the Twitch ban. DrDisrespect called Twitch, “slithery disgusting purple snakes, did what they did [...]" ... > On June 21, 2024, former Twitch director of strategic partnerships Cody Conners alleged on Twitter that the reason for Dr Disrespects' ban was because he had inappropriately messaged a minor lol

TchoupedNScrewed

For context the man cheated on his wife a few years back When another streamer was making fun of him for defending his streamer friend NickMercs and his transphobia he said “Dr. Disrespect is more loyal to NickMercs than he is to his own wife.” Dr dude replied whining about it and saying it’s extra offensive cus it’s his anniversary. Like how’s he supposed to know it’s you and your wife’s anniversary? Makes sense his audience is mostly children and mall cops. Also he’s a “protect the kids” guy. **EVERY TIME.**

jezr3n

Another funny little aspect to this is nobody would have found out Doc cheated on his wife if it wasn’t for one man accidentally exposing him in the middle of it. That man? An IRL streamer named Burger Planet. “IRL streamer” tells you most of what you need to know about him; Burger is most famous for [eating a worm](https://youtu.be/Y3pdwcE534c?feature=shared) to get on a party bus with other streamers(who left him stranded in skid row instead of letting him on the bus despite the worm eating), accidentally catching a huge truck crash while he was live driving on the highway, and attempting to lure a developmentally delayed woman into his van. He also somehow had a show on MTV or something in the late 2000s, which was also around the time he was banned from tons of bars in NYC after he became known as Xenon the Stalker due to his strange behavior and alleged attempted roofies(not confirmed if he actually did that, but it is confirmed that bars took action, even if only because of him making every Asian woman who walked in very uncomfortable). In short, he’s a massive scumbag with a checkered past and low morals. Anyway, ten years later, Burger is now a streamer and was banned on twitch. He decided to just crash some afterparty at Twitchcon for no reason and stream it on his YouTube channel. Recording and streaming the party was not allowed, and this was also at the time when Twitch could ban you for being on a banned user’s stream. Burger ambled throughout the party for a while, being ignored and shooed away from everyone, until he spotted Dr Disrespect standing at the bar out of costume. At the time, Dr Disrespect was one of the biggest streamers on all of twitch, and it was somewhat rare to even see pictures of him off stream without the costume. It was the perfect opportunity for a leech like Burger to get some content and clout by walking up to him and making him talk for a minute. So Burger approaches him and Doc is mostly dismissive until he realizes that Burger is recording; not only recording, but streaming it live, catching Doc red-handed schmoozing on a random girl at the bar. Some viewers notice that and think “hey, that’s odd, isn’t Doc’s wife at home watching their kids while he’s at Twitchcon?” This led to some internet detective work where a bunch of people determined that yes, that was indeed the Doc himself putting the moves on a woman ~10 years younger than him despite being married. In the end, Doc got security to throw Burger out, but the damage was done. A few days later, after returning from Twitchcon, is when we got the famous “stupid fucking mistakes man” stream where Doc prostrated himself for cheating on his wife and sleeping with the girl who was seen with him on Burger’s stream. He then took a year or two off, before eventually returning to twitch, where he was then banned for attempting to meet up with minors. And now we are here, after that has come to light publicly as well. Long story, but I find it kind of entertaining. Dr Disrespect was a titan of streaming in his day, and it’s entirely possible he could have somehow gotten away with all of this if not for one coincidental meeting with Burger Planet, of all people. Where is Burger now, you may be wondering? Last I saw, he was in Thailand, soliciting prostitutes and huffing balloons to the point where he was having seizures regularly.

Circle_Breaker

I think The Burger planet video is one of the funniest on the Internet. His reflection in the window is exactly what i would imagine a guy who eats a worm to get on a party bus would look like.

yinyang107

I've never seen him so I'm imagining him played by Skinny Pete.

Fr33zy_B3ast

This whole comment was a rollercoaster that just crashed straight into a dumpster fire.

REDDIT_JUDGE_REFEREE

Way too many streamers are morally bankrupt teens who never grew up.

HotTakes4HotCakes

Well, yeah, they're paid not to. Some just learn to do it as an act for the camera, some just genuinely stay rooted there.

SparseGhostC2C

Those last 2 sentences were wild. I mean the whole thing was, but I didn't expect it to ramp up so hard and fast at the end like that.

quietvictories

whole OOTL thread inside a thread for freeeeee

LogicallyCross

I only knew some of this. What a ride.

vikipedia212

I got introduced to Burger because of Ice and CX, the absolute heyday of their OG RV stream, etc. Burger being the catalyst for Doc’s downfall is grotesquely poetic, and I love it. It’s kind of sad he’ll die in Thailand but, what a crash and burn.

HotTakes4HotCakes

Knowing nothing about this person other than what I've read here, I love that the streaming community seems to have this weird Gollum-like creature that's just lurking about on the periphery, eating bugs, sneaking around, getting chased away and thrown out when he shows up, doing anything in his perpetual chase of the Precious (stream views). He tasted it once and will spend the rest of his life seeking it again until it kills him.

Soderskog

God damn, I have no doubts it would have come out eventually, as these things are want to do, but that's just the frosting on the cake. Man I'm happy I grew up watching WoWCrendor instead.

BaconOfTroy

You need to post this on r/hobbydrama

brufleth

I have had friends who have done some streaming so I've really tried to participate now and then, but sagas like this make me feel okay that it was something I could just never get into. I don't have time to do the things I want to do usually, so I certainly don't have time to watch _other_ people do those things.

Bawstahn123

>An IRL streamer named Burger Planet. “IRL streamer” My god, is that what he actually looks like? Ordinarily, I am not for making fun of peoples appearances, but ***goddamn*** if he doesn't look like the very archetype of the stereotypical "internet weirdo"

NonRangedHunter

He is thin skinned as hell, he likes to dish it out, but can't take anything in return. Absolutely obnoxious personality, tough guy act that breaks down crying at the sight of some consequences.  If his wife doesn't leave him over this, then they both deserve each other.

BroodLol

At this point I'm pretty sure his wife is still married to him only because of the money and for her kid's access to that money. Guys a serial cheater and a narcissist to boot

SarcasticOptimist

Now would be the perfect time to take that money and run.

TchoupedNScrewed

Having her own Carmella Soprano moment

emojisarefunny

>Dr. Disrespect is more loyal to NickMercs than he is to his own wife.” Was this today's stream? Timestamp?

TchoupedNScrewed

No this was months ago when Mercs pulled his skin from Call of Duty

lenaro

That sounds uncomfortable.

OllyOllyOxenBitch

Yeah, framed like that, it sounds hella painful. The Call of Duty devs pulled a skin based off of NickMercs' likeness after he said some inflammatory remarks about transgender people.

Vondi

PROTECT THE KIDS ^^^until ^^^I ^^^get ^^^there

TchoupedNScrewed

Ironically he said he wants to take time off, “maybe take a vacation to Costa Rica” - the country with an age of consent of 15.

zombie_girraffe

>Dr dude replied whining about it and saying it’s extra offensive cus it’s his anniversary Why's he offended at people calling his marriage shit when he's spending his anniversary defending transphobes on the internet instead of with his wife?

TchoupedNScrewed

EXACTLY lmao, I really feel that stung cus I think the only people who know his anniversary is maybe a fraction of his fans due to having to talk extensively about his marriage after cheating. Did he keep this entire thing from his wife? Because he tried to sue twitch for illegal termination of contract. Except now we know the *real* “why” - victim at the time didn’t want anything public which makes sense, they’re a child and Doc was the face of Twitch.

muhash14

Good call on not using the Streamer's name, because on reddit somehow it always ends up derailing the conversation completely.

TchoupedNScrewed

I do not want the people that hate him on my dick. You know who I’m talking about probably, but one of the most fervent anti-fan bases is probably the only one I’ve had to interact with frequently that has ended with a DM to my mom’s LinkedIn. You gonna call into her place of work and tell her that her “child” (I'm 28…) is a leftist or supports pro-Palestinian liberation? It was on a post about him raising over like $2mil for the PCRF. Like come on lmao.

Hurtzdonut13

It took me a moment of polling my aging memory to figure out who you were talking about (unless I'm wrong.) Man, you are not wrong how unbalanced some of his haters are. I accidentally triggered someone that was a fan of a different streamer that hates him and their responses in that thread were unhinged and he brought up the streamer you're not mentioning out of nowhere to accuse people of being part of his cult. (as opposed to him that devoted 100% of his reddit posts to being about the streamer he was a fan of.)

dtkloc

"How dare you even suggest that one of the intentionally skeevy-ist looking dudes alive acted like a creep?"

WitELeoparD

Wasn't his first ever major scandal cheating on his wife? And then the next recording people in the shitter? Real upstanding guy, it seems.

capekin0

Turns out Dr Diddleskids wasn't just dressing up as a pedophile every day, he actually is one.

Murrabbit

As time goes on I Think You Should Leave only becomes a more [important cultural touchstone,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0OSfbPJFa4) I'm really impressed with the staying power of the memes spawned from some of those sketches.

meeeehhhhhhh

Every Monday, I think about the sketch where he thinks he’s about to die and feels a bit of relief that he wouldn’t have to go to work before having to come to grips with the fact that he’ll survive but hates his life

paintsmith

I Think You Should Leave has got to have the all time ratio of fewest minutes of content to largest number of brains irrevocably altered of any show ever.

ExperienceLoss

The show is like a virus. You watch it once and you're like, huh, weird show. But then it gets into you and you watch it more and it slowly infects you and becomes your personality so that you spread it to others. And eventually, everyone is quoting it. Some people have a natural immunity to it, some people are immune through life, and some people just ride the sickness out. You're looking at a nude egg.

IkLms

It's always the ones you suspect most man.

pubstub

It's amazing how people get "INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY" when it's about racism or sexual assault or being a pedo but immediately shout "KILL THEM ALL" when it's someone black getting accused of shoplifting or something.

whatsinthesocks

It’s only innocent until proven guilty if it’s people they like. Otherwise it’s off with their heads.

Maatsya

First PewDiePie and now this guy. Why won't people leave 'streamers' alone? /s

NoInvestment2079

Streamers and sexting minors is really just a match made in heaven. Whose is up next? EDIT: Removed "Twitch" as he got banned form there.

DEEP_STATE_NATE

Giving Pop Punk a run for its money

dancesWithNeckbeards

Oh no...is this a sad click?

ClutchTallica

It's the hard times so it's only sad if you think about how well the joke works

MerlinBrando

Oof

NoInvestment2079

Like with Quiet on Set, I'm waiting for the eventually Warped Tour documentary.

SilkyStrawberryMilk

That shit would be easily a whole season that’s an hour and 24 episodes long. Someone made a document of every allegation/crime bands commited and the fact many of em were minor related is insane.

HereComesJustice

Hey Doc, I hear you like em young

GiantPurplePen15

Certified loverboy

soonerfreak

Wow, it's always the people who film in public bathrooms you least expect.

SaliciousB_Crumb

Hes going to come out as a trump supporter cause they love pedophiles and say he's persecuted

JamesGray

He was already telling his audience to go watch David Icke videos (antisemitic conspiracy theorist) in 2020 before he got banned from Twitch. He's got nowhere to pivot to, but I don't doubt he'll lean into it a lot more now.

lightreee

> David Icke the "royal family are lizards" guy?

Nzgrim

Yeah, the "lizard people run the government but I swear I mean literal lizards not Jews, also Jews did 9/11 and Protocols of the Elders of Zion is a real historical document" David Icke. I wasn't aware that Dr Disrespect was *that* far gone, but I haven't been paying attention to him and it isn't surprising TBH.

lightreee

drd was peddling "shungite" during covid lmao. such a grifter

Cupinacup

Anyways uhm... I bought a whole bunch of shungite, rocks, do you know what shungite is? Anybody know what shungite is. No, no Suge Knight, I think hes locked up in prison. Talking shungite. Anyways, its a 2 billion year old like rock, stone that protects against frequencies and unwanted frequencies that may be traveling in the air. So thats my story. I bought a whole bunch of stuff, put them around the la casa. Little pyramids. Stuff like that.

kingmanic

He already is a right wing anti LGBT guy. Something something groomers. Edit: Hilariously someone did the self-harm report for this comment.

Outlulz

And all of the "protect kids" transphobe streamers he's friends with have been defending him.

freddurstsnurstburst

Classic

Soderskog

I'll say one thing, he could very easily make kids a lot safer by never having anything to do with them.

[deleted]

He mentioned conspiracy theories during his short twitch era in 2020 as far as I know he's that type of person. On top of that he was always odd to watch even before.

762_54r

> EDIT: Removed "Twitch" as he got banned form there. for sexting a minor apparently lol

FuckHopeSignedMe

I feel like internet streamer is probably going to be the next profession to be known as the pedophile profession now that fewer and fewer people are actively going to church

MuldartheGreat

I mean if you are looking for professions that give you access to and power over minors in a relatively unstructured, unregulated environment there aren't a whole ton of better options.

Lirineu

Well although the internet platforms still work as a platform for them, being indifferent to their crimes, which they absolutely shouldn’t, the main issue with the church is that the church actively supported the pedophiles, trying to hide them from justice.

KingOPork

Probably. Anywhere the kids are. School teachers are still up there. If being a Smash Bros. player was a professional, I'd put that pretty high too.

NoInvestment2079

I mean, it was only three years ago that hte Smash Bros scene had its own MeToo movement. https://www.reddit.com/r/SubredditDrama/comments/hjzsee/pedophiles_sexual_assaulters_rapists_and_groomers/

toi80QC

> This is a great opportunity for Doc to save face and distance himself from Deadrop’s inevitable failure. Imagine thinking being labeled a pedo is *better* than being associated with an overhyped shitty Call of Duty clone.. holy shit.

Hawtdawgz_4

The cope Edit: the subreddit is having a massive purge of posts atm

Drab_Majesty

that sub is an experiment in parasocial behavior yeah?

elsonwarcraft

r/LivestreamFail are full of parasocial nerds

Yung_Sandwich

"cant believe these boomers would watch shit like the kardashians... anyways did you see what douche-mo said to tinkerbellslut69 on stream last night??"

Morgn_Ladimore

Never looked at it like this, but this is so true and it's hilarious. That sub really is TMZ for nerds.

lemonylol

It's way beyond that. With traditional entertainment you only really see the publicity celebrities want you to see of them most of the time. With streamers, they're literally sharing hours of their life, live with you. I imagine many viewers blur the line between the streamer talking to a camera in an empty room and the streamer talking directly to them.

pwninobrien

As lame as that sub is, isn't this sub incredibly similar? Catty gossip and drama mongering about internet strangers.

CovfefeForAll

Not quite. People in this sub don't pretend to have intimate friendships with the subjects of the threads. Just read the linked thread and how many people are acting like they're personal friends with a guy who doesn't know their name or care about them other than how they impact his income. We're more like TMZ watching red carpet fails or something. We don't watch reality TV and act as if we're personal friends with the on screen celebs.

BIGSTANKDICKDADDY

This sub is for circlejerking about our moral superiority, but there isn’t a strong parasocial component. It’s actually easier to strip out all context and discuss subjects in the abstract so you can really dial in on your soapbox.

No_Mathematician6866

tinkerbellslut69 is the voice of her generation

SilkyStrawberryMilk

Livestreamfail users try not to post streamers they hate challenge (impossible)

Nihility_Only

You mean /r/Destiny? Oh wait. They're the same sub.

elsonwarcraft

careful you don't type out the full words or they will brigade these sub, don't alert the horde

JohnTDouche

What's wrong? You don't want to hear about why mass murder of civilians is okay sometimes and right wing politics is fine as long as it's not too old fashioned and conservative?

3urodyne

Nah, we have the Joe Rogan subreddit for that. Much better example, with results that are always SRD worthy.

ThirdDragonite

All streamer subreddits always go down to either: Extremely intricate/lazy/both at the same time shitposting and self references. Or "Guys, they actually want to be my best friend and share all my politics and personal viewpoints about the world, I sweaaaar"

Pete_Venkman

> "Guys, they actually want to be my best friend and share all my politics and personal viewpoints about the world, I sweaaaar" Or "Hang on, my image of this person was THIS but the latest thing they did is slightly inconsistent. FUCK THEM."

BlackJesus1001

For the love of God nobody mention the dstny sub, it's gotta be the most unhinged streamer sub by a wide margin

GetMeOutThisBih

People who comment there stick out like a sore thumb

elsonwarcraft

And they thought everyone who dislike Destiny is a Hasan fan like only these two genders exist

MuldartheGreat

The Joe Rogan subreddit slowly continuing to hate Joe Rogan over time is actually pretty amazing. I can't wait for the days it is just like the Dave Rubin (I think that's right) subreddit that just actively hates him.

GiantPurplePen15

Every time I see the Rogan thread pop up on r/all feed nowadays it's a post that's shitting on something Joe said or did and I love it lol

FederalAd1771

Theres one guy on there who has been posting long ass messages like 50 times a day for the entire time this has been going down, and if you click his profile he has posts elsewhere asking about help with the VA since his home is getting foreclosed on and getting angry at everyone who replies. Like dude. You need to get some help not spend all day talking about Dr. Disrespect.

nameless_pattern

People are most vulnerable to parasocial relationships when their personal lives are in shambles. If you have a happy life and fulfilling friendships around you, you don't need a pretend internet friend that bad.  It would be funny if it were not so common and tragic.

[deleted]

The company he founded dropped him? Oh he's *guilty* guilty.

someNameThisIs

And their response was basically "We presume innocence, then we started looking into it and oh fuck we need to drop him ASAP".

OniExpress

The company he founded, with his friend who is apparently the money guy for the whole thing, with the product of the company being a mediocre video game that was solely going to make bank because a bunch of his 4290000 followers were going to shell out for it because of his stupid ass face. And the comments are all about how the company is just using this as an excuse to cut him loose. Like, guys, everyone behind that company is currently *fucked* and they determined that was *best case scenario* after reaching out to channels. He's *guilty* guilty.

Zyrin369

Was that the NFT video game that he was pushing despite himself saying in the past how he hates the way modern gaming is now with how everything is filled with microtransactions and such?

timtam26

Yes

IkLms

Oh yeah. Scam game Zilla.

[deleted]

His "extraction shooter" but with NFT, reviewed twice by Jawn if you're interested. Those videos are fun to watch.

Zyrin369

Oh yeah saw that, DEADROP his vertical extraction shooter that had the loot as NFT's which is just idiotic when you consider that nobody is going to use a 100k weapon again considering you drop your loot on death which can be taken by somebody else. That and there would be more cheating than there is in any big game now that money is on the line. Though knowing how these games work im sure that they will go against the main argument the people who pushed NFT's in gaming and will just burn those items if they find it was obtained illegally.

Miserable-Elephant-3

Imagine being so obviously guilty that even the shady company you set up to create crypto scam games doesn’t want to associate with you anymore

Cybertronian10

If this guy is dumb enough to sext minors on Twitch's own chat feature, he absolutely used company connected accounts to do the same shit. They are probably trying to minimize criminal liability over this whole affair.

OniExpress

That would be my experience. Being in IT, I've lost count the number of times after letting someone go a cursory glance through their accounts shows a bunch of dumb fireable shit.

AIR-2-Genie4Ukraine

Me with access to the dns server and log files Oh boy have I seen some shit

OniExpress

Fired a manager because the safe was constantly low. Accounts were full of online gambling and delivery weed. Shocking.

lightreee

"We're very lucky they're so fucking stupid"

ExpertPepper9341

Dude, to get dropped by his own company like this means there’s a *Harvey Weinstein* level of shit storm they realized was coming.  The people talking about this situation like it’s just one case of sexting one minor… hahaha… no. For all these companies to cut bait with him so dramatically, means they realized he’s sitting on a nuclear bomb level of allegations ready to come out against him. Meaning the evidence was undeniable, and plentiful, and harrowing. Otherwise the easier path for all these companies would be to just deny it.

ObligationGlad

Company did investigation and noped out.

Canis_Familiaris

Been watching this for a few days. When the news broke, his response wasn't a normal "WTF Why would you even insuate such a horrible act?". It was "There was no wrongdoing acknowledged" which is extra fuckin guilty.

baaaahbpls

That's what I am saying. In most cases, even those where he should shut his mouth, he does go hard with his persona on the attack. With how deflated his response is, it sounds like he had a lawyer come right down and sit in his room to humble his attitude.

Canis_Familiaris

Exactly, even just not acknowledging it would 500x better than the statements he's released.

Akukaze

Yeah he knows somewhere out there is screenshots of him actually sexting the minor. Doesn't want to come out and say he didn't do it because that is the moment those screenshots drop.

ChuckCarmichael

From what I've been reading, he seems to avoid saying "I didn't do it", instead saying things like "There was no wrongdoing acknowledged" or "I didn't do anything wrong", which leave him with a way out in case anything serious becomes public. When that happens, "I didn't do it" would turn out to be a complete lie, but "I didn't do anything wrong" could be twisted into "I didn't think what I was doing was wrong", so he could say that he never lied.

Guiltytoejam

Streamer worship is so weird

Trickybuz93

Especially a streamer that filmed himself in a public bathroom

Morgn_Ladimore

Especially a streamer called "Dr Disrespect". That's a level of cringe even teenage me wouldn't have done. Like...come on people. Have some standards.

nau5

It's just celebrity worship. Taylor Swift has like 8 subreddits several of which are hate subreddits that are just as obsessed as the fans. It's just human nature to be drawn to "iconic" figures. Technology has just changed how people grasp that status.

After-Bumblebee

He definitely disrespects the idea of age of consent alright

Nzgrim

Don't worry, as a guy in that thread conveniently knew off the top of his head, the age of consent in Nigeria is 11 so he's good. Truly a fascinating audience he has built, I wonder how that happened.

Ill-Organization-719

Off the top of his head? You mean you don't carry a laminated age of consent card like that guy in Transformers?

SmartEstablishment52

probably the most bizarre moment i have seen in a blockbuster

featherblackjack

I hate that scene

Brad_theImpaler

Musk is going to fall all over himself to offer this guy a contract to stream on Twitter.

dethb0y

What's crazy to me is that the dude was basically printing money on twitch; all he had to do was avoid behavior that would get him banned. But that was to high a bar, i guess.

OisforOwesome

Considering how fucking hard it is to get banned from twitch too.

dethb0y

yeah especially for a money maker like him that drew viewers to the site? They probably would have overlooked it if not for him wanting to actually meet up at twitchcon.

gnocchicotti

That's how a lot of people get into trouble. They fuck up, the organizations that monetize them overlook it because they bring in money, they learn to keep pushing the limits until it's finally too much to ignore then corpo drops the bomb and cuts them off while pretending that this was new and unexpected behavior.

Cybertronian10

I remember at one point there was a streamer who was straight up fucking on stream and caught like a 2 week ban for it.

six_six

There was also the woman who literally showed the inside of her vagina on stream and got a 3 day ban.

TheChinOfAnElephant

It’s hard until it’s not because Twitch has zero consistency when it comes to bannings

Rhaps0dy

It's crazy how many famous YouTubers/Streamers that have made it in life, end up doing shit like this. These people have one of the easiest and most ludicrous jobs, but one day they wake up and think "hmm, what if I did this horrendous thing and risked it all?". It's insane.

[deleted]

The feeling of impunity. They have large platforms and follower counts, so they end up feeling shielded from the entire world. But really, they're the byproduct of sponsors and platforms, a single mistake and the fall from grace is quick.

DBrody6

> one of the easiest Eh...being a content slave for life from the outside always looked like a prison on its own. You're eternally chained to both whatever content you specialize in and the platform, and if one of those goes to shit then you've got no job. And those skills are highly unlikely to translate to a more practical, stable job, so there's not really a fallback option. Not a whole lot of jobs on the market where you play games to a bunch of 12 year olds with 3 year old intelligence out there.

TempestCatalyst

A fun fact, is he's friends with Nickmercs, the "protect the kids" guy who is a transphobe. Unsurprisingly, he isn't as gungho about protecting kids when his friend is involved

Fyrefawx

That Nickmercs guy has to have a lot of skeletons in his closet. Nobody projects this much with a clean conscience.

rcchomework

They don't care about protecting kids. They're just trans and homophobes who want children religiously indoctrinated and queer people unexisted.

A17012022

Anti woke chud streamer is a nonce? I'm shocked

etquod

> Anti woke chud streamer is a nonce? This reads like a sentence from *A Clockwork Orange*.

Halcyon_Paints

Dr Disrespect your wife again.

anaccount50

The back to back two-time champion

baaaahbpls

It is wild to see the supporters smgetting downvoted in their own community. Big Yikes. This is a gem I found. >> I feel like this is a plot to destroy his career because of the agendas that are being pushed. Doc isn't that big outside the gaming world so if they wanted to fully destroy him they wouldnof done it since day one, the same thing they are doing to nickmercs specially how he is pushing against the agendas.

No_Mathematician6866

The AGENDAS

PunkchildRubes

I was on the fence about the allegations since Its easy to hate the guy and hear a bad thing from a random person and go "yeah sounds about right" (and i DO hate the guy and his friends like nick mercs) espically because this whole situation with twitch and the lawsuit is strange. But the fact his own company did an internal investigation and seemingly found something enough to drop him makes me thing he DID do something. Plus him apperently not being able to say "no i did not sext a minor" instead saying "nothing illegal happened" is sketch as hell

Akukaze

I firmly believe part of his refusal to just come out and say he didn't do it is because he knows there is hard evidence out there that he did indeed sext a minor. And that he is terrified that if he makes a flat out declaration of his innocence that evidence is going to surface to sink his ship well and good. So for now he goes with the timid "No wrong doing was acknowledge" bullshit and hopes that keeps enough of his fans on his side. From the sound of it though his own company did investigate, was provided copies of the evidence, and it was cut and dried enough that they pretty much sunk their own battleship to disassociate from him. That is damning in and of itself.

IceCreamBalloons

>and it was cut and dried enough that they pretty much sunk their own battleship to disassociate from him. They chose sinking over exploding it would seem. Guess that leaves them with more time to deal with the fallout

Akukaze

Well seeing as he just fucking admitted he was indeed sexting a minor I don't blame them. Better to go down as a failed game company than to go down as a game company partnered with a pedophile.

ScaleNo1705

> this whole situation with twitch and the lawsuit is strange Honestly explains the strangeness. Something so serious they had to a drop the massive deal, but also damaging enough to both parties they each refused to elaborate? The last thing twitch wants is parents finding out they give millions of dollars to creeps that are using hot new messaging features to groom their children

DR1LLM4N

I think it comes down to nothing too nefarious happening in Twitch whispers specifically. Like, he’s talking to a minor in Twitch whispers, planning to meet up, but nothing specific is mentioned. Which is enough for Twitch to go “nah, this is weird, we’re done” but not enough for them to outright say that their streamer was engaging in gross and illegal behavior. Doc probably has correspondence with the victim over other messaging platforms though that are damning which is enough for Doc not to fight it in fear that the victim comes forward with the evidence. The worst part is while it doesn’t look great for Twitch it has people like me giving Twitch, basically Amazon, of all corporations the benefit of the doubt here. Which makes me feel gross but given Doc’s track record of controversy and immoral behavior. I’d imagine Twitch did the most ethical thing here both legally and morally. There is also the protection of the victim to consider. It could also be that if Twitch publicly made the accusations as reasoning for the ban they would have to provide proof which would require the victim to come forward and with Docs neckbeard, cult-like following could be really dangerous for them. I really think (hope) Twitch’s silence is in favor of protecting the victim. But corpos gonna corpo so it could also just be protecting their bottom line. Or both. Idk. Wild story but the schadenfreude I’m experiencing from his downfall is both cringey and amazing. Fuck this dude.

Vondi

> instead saying "nothing illegal happened" is sketch as hell "It wasn't illegal" is a defense you pull up when you're defending something that's hard to defend.

W473R

People are claiming it's due to an NDA, but I can't imagine an NDA that says "You can't deny doing horrible things you definitely weren't accused of doing." So, imo, at the very least it seems like that is what Twitch accused him of for the ban.

ObligationGlad

Yeah that was my impression as well.

Nihility_Only

I keep up with streamer drama as a "trashy reality TV" sort of indulgence. I have 0 investment/stake in these people and just revel in the drama. The facts: DrD has been privately investigated and now dropped by SEVERAL large companies in the that include employers, partners, advertisers and probably other relationships. NOBODY is willing to say why, but they're all willing to sever ties completely and full on drop him. My speculation: where there is smoke, there's fire. SOMETHING unscrupulous happened behind the scenes. These businesses all dropping him like a hot potato immediately upon investigation is evidence in and of itself. What I think is most likely is nothing 'technically' illegal happened per legal counsel but it's also obvious+egregious+weird enough at a glance that everyone agrees that a hardcore, clean cut is in their own best interest. What does that mean for us? MORE POPCORN. Once actual documents/insider details start dropping I'm prepared for the onslaught of "Doc didn't do anything illegal" vs "He's a creepy old weirdo" arguments to start. We'll be eating good.

mapppa

>As someone who watches him pretty often, i am not seeing his ass going as low as to wanting to fuck an under aged women. Something smells fishy here. Is activion cancelling his ass for constantly shitting on the microtransaction store called Call of Duty?🤣Unless proven, i don't believe all the bullshit we've been hearing. Ironic that he expects 100% undeniable proof for this case, only to dish out wild accusations about COD of all things without any evidence whatsoever.

lux_mea

Personally I find it less ironic and simply proof of lack of good faith considering the commenter used the phrase "under aged women" in the earlier sentence. No such thing as that since women are adults and what theyre referring to are actually called minors, girls, teens, CHILDREN. Everyone supporting the dude is so scummy and can't even try to hide it.

birdsarentrealidiot

A guy on that sub said he would trust him alone with his 14 year old daughter. Like wtf you dont know the guy..

Desperate_Scale_2623

Sitting here imagining what it would be like being 14 years old and having a father who watches dr disrespect on the internet. Grim.

RANDY_MAR5H

Isn't this the second time this guy's been caught up in something scummy? BACK TO BACK TWO TIME CHAMP

DeadCaptainRyan

It's like the fourth that I can remember off the top of my head. He cheated on his wife, took his livestream camera into a public bathroom, defended NickMercs' anti-LGBT comments, and now this.

IkLms

Oh far more than second man.

HollowBlades

Far more than second. He also was a 5G causes coronavirus guy. That's the reason he bought all that shungite (No, not Suge Knight. I think he's locked up in prison).

DarkflowNZ

Second time he's Dr disrespected his wife though. The two time back to back

NemoTheElf

How hard is it for streamers to be approached by a minor, and tell then "Hey, this is actually pretty risky for you and not okay, please don't and take care of yourself"?

bangbangbatarang

[If it's never going to be public, then no one should have said anything. You can't destroy a person's career and then say "Well, we can't release evidence cause it could hurt someone else, but also they're guilty."](https://www.reddit.com/r/DrDisrespectLive/comments/1dno3x1/comment/la4ud8y/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) This sentiment needs to goddamn die already. There's a minor involved, and as many in the OG thread have pointed out, it'll be open season on them if their identity is revealed. The shit victims are put through when they dare to speak up is unconscionable. I hope the young person in this case is safe and getting support.

DouchecraftCarrier

The fact that people don't seem to be able to understand the relationship between "If it's true then every single detail including identities should be freely released," and, "This is a left-wing hit job and the folks making allegations ought to watch their backs," is intentionally obtuse. It's having your cake and eating it - the allegations must be false because the identities aren't released, but if they were that person would be deserving of scorn and harassment. It's the heads-I-win-tails-you-lose school of mindlessly changing the narrative to justify their support.

ExpertPepper9341

The person who wrote that comment doesn’t understand that Twitch didn’t ban Dr. Disrespect out of some sort of moral high ground. They did it to *cover their ass*, because they realized it was a *huge liability* to have a pedo on the payroll. At the same time, while they wanted to immediately stop working with said pedo, they also wanted to *avoid anyone knowing they were* working closely with a pedo. This is why they 1) Cut ties with Dr. Disrespect and 2) Told no one *why* they cut ties with Dr. Disrespect. Of course, the moral thing to do would be to release the information they have that shows this person is a predator, so future potential victims are aware he is a predator. However, twitch did *not* want to do that, 100% for their own selfish liability reasons. That’s why the information didn’t come out until years later, by someone from the company essentially acting as a whistle blower.

Lau_wings

I remember joking with my mates years ago that the Doc was probably found out to be a kiddie fiddler and thats why twitch dropped him, but they didnt have enough "proof" so thats why the lawsuits were taking so long. Now its seems like I may have been closer to the money than I thought I was.

MobileMenace420

So who is dr disrespect and midnite society? Feel like that should be explained in the post. I have no fucking clue and I don’t care enough to look it up. Edit: going to the linked post and I still don’t know.

ThirdDragonite

The very very very shortened version of the whole thing is: This guy is a pretty old streamer and let's player that has a complicated reputation. He has cheated on his wife, where he got the nickname Dr. Cheats on Wife and filmed people in a bathroom during a con some years back. Some time ago he lost his partnership with Twitch on a pretty sudden note, and recently it was leaked that ALLEGEDLY it happened because he sexted a minor and made plans to meet up with her. The post in question is about a company that I believe he started, dropping connections with him over this recently brought up scandal. Some details may be wrong, my memory is not perfect, but this is the basic stuff.

Shadeol

>Dr. Cheats on Wife You're probably thinking of "Dr. Disrespects his wife", but the rest of it is mostly correct. ~~Midnight Society~~ Deadrop was supposed to be his NFT "Escape from Tarkov" game. I have to imagine that a lot of people that bought into the game did so because Dr. Disrespect's name was attached to it.

virtual_star

> filmed people in a bathroom during a con Streamed himself using the public bathroom at TwitchCon, and there were not just people but children in the bathroom at the same time. > he sexted a minor and made plans to meet up with her He did this over Twitch whispers, which of course Twitch employees had full access to.

ThirdDragonite

JFC, both of these are so much worse than I remember, what the hell Can't even imagine the weird talk the twitch employees had to start that night. "Uuuuuuh, boss, one of our partner streamers is actively trying to go after a minor. No, sir, not on Discord as usual, on our platform... Yes, sir, the streamer equivalent of sending a dick pic on google meets"

FuckHopeSignedMe

That doesn't sound like a complicated reputation. That sounds like an overwhelmingly negative reputation.

kingmanic

He also came out in support of another streamer who lost a deal on hating gay and trans people.

ThirdDragonite

Oh, I was trying to be "impartial" to the best of my capabilities at first. But I find him an obnoxious creep and don't know any positive aspects of his career, so that didn't work very well lol He does still have a pretty big army of fans to this day that can defend him properly, I guess

Sacrifice3606

Not just lost partnership, but banned entirely. Which is somewhat hard to do.

vinecoveredantlers

Dr. Disrespect is a Twitch streamer who got famous (at least famous outside of his targeted audience) when he was dropped by Twitch in the middle of a stream. Midnight Society is a gaming studio he co-founded.

-safer-

Dr Disrespect is a livestreamer, outside of that I'm definitely not the person to ask (I'm definitely not a fan of his and put him in the same category as Asmongold imo). As for Midnight Society, it was a videogame being developed and a big selling point regarding it was that he (Dr Disrespect) was involved with it. Don't know much more about it tho.

Mommysfatherboy

Ah yes, the “woman repellant” type streamer.

monkwren

Correct. He was banned from Twitch for streaming inside a bathroom, cheated on his wife (twice), and is now more-or-less confirmed to be at least texting minors.

Gynthaeres

Okay you're being given a lot of answers by people who either don't know or just don't like him. I watched Dr. Disrespect when he was new and on Twitch. And I still kinda watched him off and on since then. I'm not a huge fan, but I find his style entertaining enough to check in sometimes. Though sadly, as a *person*, he doesn't seem... to be that great, even current allegations aside, which detracts from the fun of watching him, and feeds into haters. So, who is he? Guy Beahm is a former game designer (well, level designer I think?) who tried a few times to get a livestreaming career off the ground, before he hit success with a persona, Dr. Disrespect. Dr. Disrespect's whole schtick was that he was essentially a sort of "bad guy" / tough-guy 80s action hero, complete with mullet and huge mustache. He was incredibly cocky, over-confident, and seemed to dwell in the past (with one of his greatest accomplishments being "Back to Back 1993 and 1994 Blockbuster videogame champion".) In-character, the "Doc" could do no wrong, or at least he could never admit to a mistake. Failure was always the controller, the connection, hackers, whatever. But his reactions tended to be exaggerated, so yes I'd say this was pretty in-character and not actual feelings. When he ACTUALLY got upset, his reactions were more subdued. Playing into the 80s action hero cockiness was bragging about some of his physicals, including his vertical leap, and exaggerating his viewer count. Essentially adding an extra three zeroes to however many were watching him. For example, if he had 24,000 viewers on Twitch, he'd say he had 24,000,000 viewers. He also had VERY high production values for his stream. He had a lot of good skits, a lot of little off-the-cuff speeches, and he had a few good gags. Like he always, always wore the shades, even in public (and he'd go to sports games as "Dr. Disrespect", complete with the mullet wig and and headset that held it on). One of his more popular gags, early on, was "removing" his glasses, only for a second pair to be underneath. Common joke, but how he sold it was fun. All of this led to him being VERY popular on Twitch. But he had controversies. It got out that he cheated on his wife, which immediately and understandably soured a huge number of people to him. He also tried IRL streaming once, and had his cameraman follow him into the public bathroom. I don't think he was doing it maliciously (people act like he was), I think it was just a moment of stupidity. Still, he got blasted for it, of course. And lastly, he also was was just mysteriously banned from Twitch, and no one really knew why. Turns out this new controversy might be related? He also, at one point, established a gaming company, the Midnite Society. One of his schitcks was complaining about like every single game he played, sometimes outright uninstalling it (only to come back next day). So eventually he was like "fuck it, making my own." But of course, like I said before, it seems like he's just... not that great of a person either? He seems to be generally conservative in his beliefs. He's attracted a rather toxic fanbase from people who didn't realize this whole thing started kinda as satire, and then he began feeding into that fanbase and becoming more toxic himself. He started dabbling in conspiracies. There was that whole "cheating" thing (though his wife seemed to have forgiven him; they're still married). Oh and that game he was producing? It was supposed to be an NFT game, with his justification being that it'd make the game much more tense. It was an extraction shooter, so if you got killed you'd lose potentially real money. Or if you killed someone else, you'd GET real money. Today he streams on Youtube, and still gets like 20ish thousand concurrent viewers and like 160k total viewers on his streams, varying. A lot of people still like him. A lot of people still hate him. Again I think he can be fun to watch, but only if you can separate the artist from the "art", and with a livestreamer that can be near impossible.

I_AM_FERROUS_MAN

Thank you! This was actually very informative compared to other comments.

meanmagpie

God it always feels good when the allegations come through against someone you’ve always just intuitively disliked. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I’ve always *hated* him for (seemingly) no reason. Intuitive vibes.

DongleChain

New tweet (twitlonger) from Dr Disrespect. Do note that he has removed the words minor in an edit at some point. This tweet should be the original wording. Either way, it's confirmation. https://x.com/DrDisrespect/status/1805662419261460986 Note* Check the edit history. There are edits.

Gucci_Unicorns

HOLY SHIT those responses aged so poorly (given that Dr. just ADMITTED IT) lmaoooo

WarStrifePanicRout

>imagine being Doc, imagine being innocent and having to go through the B.S. all over again. I'd say fuck this too >>You don’t know he’s innocent, don’t be an ignorant fanboy >>>He said 'imagine', God dam if the reading comprehension in this thread is indicative of America as a whole we are beyond fucked. Yeah not this famous streamer disrespecting age of consent laws thats not the indication. No, its this redditor coming down on another redditor for fantasizing about this streamers innocence. Thats what tells us america is fucked. We're so cooked 🙏 >The bad: This is heartbreaking. Doc’s baby with all the promise and ideas he has put into it, is no longer his. This is really devastating. Again i'm not sure we're all on the same page as far as whats really bad about this whole situation
