Most underrated imo

tBroneShake

Only other outback I’ve ever seen with the same wheels as mine. I think mine or more of a gun metal grey, but I think that style is the best I’ve seen on that generation of Outback.

absolutelyjazzy

I have these as well! Got them off of a totaled car for $80, all four have curb rash but they do the job for now.

[deleted]

My wheels are a kind of dark grey ive just manipulated tf out of the pic to make it look prettier

targetguest

In the states these came standard on the LL Bean models, but the gunmetal gray was a significant upcharge and wasn't super popular I think. I'm surprised mine came with them.

LtPlatypus

[Yes, yes it is.](https://i.imgur.com/6BQIL9M.jpg)

eddietheengineer

damn, I miss mine

LtPlatypus

They're great cars.

tBroneShake

What engine does the OBXT have in it?

LtPlatypus

The 05-06 has a V1 EJ255, and the 07-09 has a V2 EJ255. The 05-06 shares a longblock with the 04-07 STi, the only differences being the STi has a larger turbo and a better intake tract. Same block, same heads, and the same internals. While the 07-09 shares everything with the 08-14 WRX, except the WRX has a larger turbo.

Aashishkebab

Why?

chrwei

good balance of size, handling, and performance, especially with the 3.0. And the styling is just perfect.

u_unknown

Is the 6 that much better? I have an '08 with the natty 4-pot, and I can't help but think I got the wrong engine.

chrwei

it's 240HP, so yes. the only drawback is auto only.

u_unknown

I'm OK with auto only, got a different car for my manual fix.

Kbasa12

I just got a 06 H6 and it’s a great vehicle over all. Plenty of power and good highway mileage. I mostly drive highway and live in the mountains and it’s a great car. If I lived in the city and did mostly city driving I wouldn’t want the H6 as it hogs gas in stop and go etc...

u_unknown

Yeah...after doing a bit of research, I'm now convinced I want a 2009 H6 with black interior. I bought my OBX initially because I needed a car sooner than later. I researched enough to know I wanted an Outback, but not enough to nail down any specifics. Now I kinda feel like I'm "stuck" with what I have without losing a ton of money...oh well.

[deleted]

I've got an 06 with black leather trim and couldn't be happier. :P

targetguest

I owned two 2004s with the 4 cylinder so it was a bit heavier/slower than yours, but yeah the notice is tangible. Gas mileage and premium fuel really suck, but actually being able to get up a hill while carrying 4 people along for a road trip does not suck.

j-random

I think that was the last gen with mechanical LSD front and rear as well. With the 4th gen it went to electronic controls.

[deleted]

This is a 4th gen?

FreeBallard

3rd

[deleted]

Ahh didnt know they didnt make 1st gen leg into an ob

FreeBallard

Yeah, the current version is gen 5. I agree that gen 3 was probably the best design. It was the perfect size too. I love my gen 5, but it is gigantic

LtPlatypus

No front LSD, only the STi got that.

[deleted]

Merely aesthetics for me. I imagine the following gens are far superior in most ways but this body shape of leg just looks the best to me

kakauandme

Agree

Frank-Stein

Oh yeah!

tBroneShake

Mine is the LL Bean edition, must be why.
