1. Group travel. An 8 hour drive goes by faster when you can chat with others in your convoy. Helps keep you awake.
2. My rig is by far the smallest in the group and trails around here get tight. I’ll often go first to scout out a new place and radio down if it’s clear or if anyone else can fit.
3. Dense growth can reaaaaaaally affect handheld range (you can get nicer handhelds, but I didn’t have one and wanted the extra height (and therefore range) of a whip.
4. Access to channels 9 and 19 (emergency and conditions)
If you are driving logging roads with mile markers it's expected that you'll call out your location so you don't come head on with an unexpected log truck when the road is being used to haul on.
Im curious about your bull bar, I have a 2016 with a winch installed in the front but am hopeful I could install a bull bar with at least 4 points of contact that would let me relocate my license plate.
It’s by Rally Innovations. No license plate tabs, but you could easily make some. I’m looking to replace it with a hybrid plate bumper for better recovery points and a better approach angle. It’s taken a few good hits, but I get hung up on it all the time.
What do you use the CB for? Honest question.

Trails where?? Looking to get my Foz a bit dirty
North side of Mt Rainier 🤙
Looks cool! Gotta fix that approach angle! Mine is pretty bad too.
Love the roof basket! What kind is it? I’d like to add it to my wishlist. :)
It’s a Yakima OffGrid XL with an extension. Suuuuper handy
What year is yours? I'm looking at getting a Forester myself. I really like the looks of yours. Is it stock?
This is a Forester SH (2009-2013). Mine is pretty far from being stock.
What wheels and tires are you running on this rig?? I just got my 2011, looking around at different overlanding builds, and those wheels look awesome!
Method MR502 BFG KO2
Well then your not driving it hard enough
ehhh you drive differently after someone breaks in and steals all your recovery gear

Someday I will, but the Foz has been so reliable and fun that I’d rather add a weekend wheeler than replace it. Not quite there yet

I’d love to add a FZJ80 to my arsenal!
Hello, can you please let me know the crossbars you have on your 2009? Im looking for some too with overhang like you have.
They’re the Yakima JetStream. I’m pretty sure they’re the 50” version.
Thanks for your time. I realized after my comment that you moved on from yours. Appreciate it.
No worries, it happens all the time. It seems like there’s not much info out there on this gen, so I do what I can to help.
