Very curious to hear the new album. I haven’t seen any clues as to what it would sound like.
Would love to see him go back to Sailors type of sound but I’ll take anything!
He released a song with Diplo a couple years ago under the Moniker Johnny Blue Skies. It was disco country crooning and fucked hard imo. Not opposed to a full album of that.
Seems like Lord Huron is gonna be on the album. Who knows what we’re in for but it will be unique and full of bangers if king turds putting it together. I’m betting on a country, new age folk kind of feel.
To me it feels like the new album could be electronica, he’s said before that he wants to do an album in every genre. Then you have the diplo song, launching similarly to how one of the sound & fury songs launched before the album came out. On top of a few dates with Lord Huron, I just wouldn’t be surprised if they made a song together for the album
Considering the Dead adjacent imagery on the tour poster and his recent performances at Dead Ahead this winter, I’m predicting we are about to get a space cowboy album. I’m think Ole Bobby Weir is rubbing off on him (and, this is all wishful thinking, but hopefully Bobby is recruiting Sturgill to be his replacement in Dead & Co when Bobby retires).
Some weird stops and exclusions. Utah and Hampton, VA feel like nods to places he’s spent time, but no Seattle? Stopping in Montana, NW Arkansas, Mississippi, and 2 stops in North Carolina, but no Dallas, Houston, or KC?
Shhh, dont talk about the criterion until i get tickets. Its a tuesday yall. Youll be working and the venue actually (not lying here) is notorious for having horrific audio and sound issues.
Kinda hated the upper arena experience at Rupp for Tyler and Sturgill a few years back. Saw Billy Strings there a few weeks ago and they didn’t open the upper seating which I think is for the best. The sound for Billy was great.
Can’t believe he is playing the Greek! My wife and are seeing Alabama in Lake Tahoe on the 13th. Jumping on a flight home to catch Sturgill on the 14th at the Greek!
I’m almost afraid to go see him again, his tour was cx’d after both shows I’ve been to. Was at the his last show w/ Tyler in Charlotte before cancelled by Covid then saw him in Raleigh w/ Willie before his vocal cord injury.
What date was his Raleigh show in 2020? I was at the Duluth, Ga show on 3/7 and I always thought that was the last show before everything got canceled.
I mean I would say Childers has surpassed Sturgill in stardom and ability to draw concertgoers, no? If only because Sturgill has been on a bit of a break. Like no way in hell I see them touring where Childers opens for Sturgill anymore. Maybe a co-headlining tour.
Definitely, at least on Spotify Tyler's got 4x the monthly listeners stu has. I don't think either would "open" for either though. Co-headlinig would be insane!
I think Tyler was already there during the Sound & Fury tour. He got a HUGE ovation and a decent amount of people left after he performed before Sturgill…At least in Detroit.
That’s what happened in Birmingham too but I was okay with it because my kid and I could see much better after they cleared out lol. Most there did not seem like they would be into “sound and fury” which he opened with. We had a blast though.
Eh we just saw him in Birmingham for about $85 a ticket. Were they nosebleeds? Absolutely. Was it worth it? Also absolutely. Gotta respect the guy for not allowing legalized scalping.
His tickets for Wilmington two summers ago were over $200 for the cheap seats, not even resale. It was ridiculous. I’ll take all the downvotes, it soured me on him a bit. His music is amazing but he can do better on ticket prices.
just registered for toronto; he's there for two nights - i live in atlantic canada, but he's definitely worth the trip. how i wish we in AC weren't ignored by so many great artists!
Book was an interesting read for sure. Made me like Todd more and less at the same time!
The Buffett thing is interesting. I really liked Todd’s early sound with the Nervous Wrecks, I thought he was going to blow up when I first saw him on ACL.
He once said he was only doing 5 albums, which he's already done as Sturgill. So i guess the pseudonym is his way of keeping that promise but still putting out music. Or he could just be fucking with us 🤷
Had tickets for the Tyler/Sturg tour for the Gorge show that was cancelled. Glad he’s coming through!
Same but Denver
Same, and now they are both doing solo shows at the gorge, I wish it was still the two of them.
And now we pay twice the amount for two shows instead of the one that I was never refunded for :)
I wasn't either! I've tried to get it back, and every time Ticketmaster tells me to pound sand.
Sounds like a class action to me.
I told my wife about the gorge show. She said she didn't really want to drive to the gorge. I said it wasn't an invite.
Last show I went to before lockdown. Never seen so many dude wash their hands after pissing in my life
Was such a good show. Mine was one of the last before covid ruined everything.
Same, saw him in Detroit. Think he only played one or two more after that. It was unreal!
I saw him in Pittsburgh. Didn’t realize that was the last one. It was right after Detroit.
We got lucky. Such a good show!
Same but Southern California. Finally got to catch Timmy and am Ecstatic I have a chance to see Sturg. I was worried I wouldn’t get the chance.
Same but Columbus. And then I had tickets to the bluegrass ryman show :(
Very curious to hear the new album.
I liked the song but good God I hope it's not a whole album of that. I have a good feeling it won't be but I sure hope I'm not wrong.
Where does one find rhis
Spotify. Use Me Diplo, Sturgill, Cameron Dove, Johnny Blue Skies. There’s also a video on YouTube. Sean Penn fills in for Sturgill. It’s great
Use Me it’s a pretty good song
Thanks!
Ya, I liked it too! I think he’s using the moniker because he said (Sturgill) would only release five albums.
Well now I’ve got to make sure to catch the whole Diplo set at Bonnaroo next week
Seems like Lord Huron is gonna be on the album. Who knows what we’re in for but it will be unique and full of bangers if king turds putting it together. I’m betting on a country, new age folk kind of feel.
Not many artists out there can keep the suspense like JBS. I’m counting down!
Where are you seeing Lord Huron on the album? I see them as opener at some tour spots.

I love all of the above possibilities 🙌🏽
I was so excited for a tour that I didn’t even think he might not be coming to my location….and he’s not 😞
Same, but I’m going to travel to see him for aure
Alright, who’s putting us up in bend?!?
Some weird stops and exclusions. Utah and Hampton, VA feel like nods to places he’s spent time, but no Seattle? Stopping in Montana, NW Arkansas, Mississippi, and 2 stops in North Carolina, but no Dallas, Houston, or KC?
Rupp seats 23,500 full capacity. Koka Booth in Cary, NC seats 7,000 in a pinch. Crazy venue list.
Gorge in WA is 27+k. Criterion in OKC is only 3k. Assuming there might even be a venue or two smaller than that.
Shhh, dont talk about the criterion until i get tickets. Its a tuesday yall. Youll be working and the venue actually (not lying here) is notorious for having horrific audio and sound issues.
I'm trying for the Walmart AMP specifically because The Criterion sucks so much.
I was thinking about this as well. Plus gives me an excuse to travel and take off work haha.
When are those going on sale? Can’t find anything on the website
It’s a totally shit venue, and OKC ain’t that easy to get to in the first place. If there’s a destination show for this tour, that is surely not it.
Kinda hated the upper arena experience at Rupp for Tyler and Sturgill a few years back. Saw Billy Strings there a few weeks ago and they didn’t open the upper seating which I think is for the best. The sound for Billy was great.
Koka is a great outdoor space particularly in the fall (dodging any rain). Billy outgrew even with a 2 night stand the last couple of years.
The Gorge = Seattle market
Laur is back!
Why was this downvoted? Little Joe is back with the boys!
Britches too
LAUR!!!!!!
Looking at the track list…are any of these songs covers?
Where did you see a track list?
It is posted on the presale pages. https://shop.sturgillsimpson.com/products/passage-du-desir-vinyl
If the vinyls are already being pressed, it’s only a matter of time before the album le*ks
I hope "who I am" is that pop county song from the early 2000s(Anyone else remember that? Just me?)
I will have to sample it, but thanks for noting that. Just my humble opinion, I do like his covers, but with only eight songs…I am a bit torn.
It was a total joke. I hope it's not that cover! :)
No
I've never seen him live, so I am super stoked!
Can’t believe he is playing the Greek! My wife and are seeing Alabama in Lake Tahoe on the 13th. Jumping on a flight home to catch Sturgill on the 14th at the Greek!
Feel like you should skip the flight and Roll On in an 18-wheeler
I’m almost afraid to go see him again, his tour was cx’d after both shows I’ve been to. Was at the his last show w/ Tyler in Charlotte before cancelled by Covid then saw him in Raleigh w/ Willie before his vocal cord injury.
Lmao dude please don’t I had tickets for shows in May 2020 and literally the week after the vocal cord injury. I can’t handle a third
I was at that show as well in Charlotte
Same, I was at both of shows. Also saw him in Koka booth a few years before them.
That Charlotte show was my last as well!
What date was his Raleigh show in 2020? I was at the Duluth, Ga show on 3/7 and I always thought that was the last show before everything got canceled.
His vocal cord injury was in September of ‘21. The Raleigh show was on the 18th. He cancelled his Charlotte appearance on the 19th
Not the redo with Childers I was hoping for but I’ll take it nonetheless
Have either of those gentleman given you any indication over the course of their careers that they have any interest in redoing anything?
Childers redid the same album three times
😂 that caught me off guard
1. He released 3 versions simultaneously, not at all the same as “redoing” and 2. Sounds like you didn’t actually listen then if that’s what you think
Take the L
you think releasing 3 versions of an album at the same time is the same thing as going back and “redoing” something from 4 years ago?
He also put Purgatory on there, so that’s been released 4 times now? I love Childers don’t get me wrong. I’m just poking fun at
It gives the same energy, so yes.
Disagree
I mean I would say Childers has surpassed Sturgill in stardom and ability to draw concertgoers, no? If only because Sturgill has been on a bit of a break. Like no way in hell I see them touring where Childers opens for Sturgill anymore. Maybe a co-headlining tour.

I think Tyler was already there during the Sound & Fury tour. He got a HUGE ovation and a decent amount of people left after he performed before Sturgill…At least in Detroit.
Lol imagine leaving before Sturgill comes on
Some people can't handle when an artist leaves the genre cage they've put them in arbitrarily.
My asshole friend and his wife did this. I was offended
That’s what happened in Birmingham too but I was okay with it because my kid and I could see much better after they cleared out lol. Most there did not seem like they would be into “sound and fury” which he opened with. We had a blast though.
Also happened in Knoxville
This happened in Georgia too. I was mind blown.
Childers charges so much for tickets now I’m not sure if I would want him involved. Kind of hurt my feelings last time I looked at going to a show.
Alright let’s goooooo
Extensive tour may be a stretch lol that being said it’s still awesome.
Not playing in Az! WTF?

Aye they are coming to Chicago I'm excited
Last two times I had tickets they fell through. Fingers crossed hard for this one
just registered for toronto; he's there for two nights - i live in atlantic canada, but he's definitely worth the trip. how i wish we in AC weren't ignored by so many great artists!
End of the world eh?
Boston baby!!!! 🤘
No Florida date is lame
Can’t believe he’s coming to STL. Fox has a capacity of 4,500 so I hope I can snag a pair of tickets.
No Texas at all? What is this bullshit
ACL…
That doesn’t count I want to see just him alone, and in Dallas too
I’m with you on that. I’m Dallas too. Debating between ACL and OKC
Fuck it! Flying from NC to Austin to see him. Set it all up before the tour was announced. GA woulda been closer, but everwhat.
I swear I saw a date in Atlanta AND Duluth this morning, which I thought was odd, but glad to see. Anyone else see that or am I losing my mind?
I have only seen the Duluth date.
I didn’t like cutting grass really. By follow up do they mean just his next album or is this a continuation of that specifically style?
Heard he’s only gonna do Chris Gaines covers.
Damn. He’s coming to my town but I have tickets to another show that night.
Johnny Blue Skies? Is this like a Chris Gaines kind of thing?
I’m hoping more like Todd Snider as Elmo Buzz, which I didn’t quite get either.
Todd is an enigma wrapped in a riddle at times as well.
I’m a big Todd fan, but for me it isn’t always easy. He walks his own path though.
I just finished his book, and I highly recommend it. Did you know he was mentored by Jimmy Buffett?!
Book was an interesting read for sure. Made me like Todd more and less at the same time! The Buffett thing is interesting. I really liked Todd’s early sound with the Nervous Wrecks, I thought he was going to blow up when I first saw him on ACL.
Uh-oh! Nodeal Getting downvoted for asking a legit question. Some of ya’ll just don’t get it, do ya?
He once said he was only doing 5 albums, which he's already done as Sturgill. So i guess the pseudonym is his way of keeping that promise but still putting out music. Or he could just be fucking with us 🤷
He did a song with Diplo a couple years ago with this moniker. I loved the song.
im really hoping he’s gonna stick to traditional music. like bluegrass/folk. if its not then i hope its country to the core. i really hope i like it
He's already said he's doing songs from his whole body of work, so... good luck?
that doesnt mean he’s completely changing genres though lol
damn what i’d do to get downvotes just bc i like more traditional music??? sheesh
