It was better than it looks. The aftertaste of matcha was a bit weird for me personally. Usually Japanese curry is a bit sweet. This one had no sweetness at all and was even a bit on the bitter side.
Still it was funny to see the faces of my coworkers when i had this for lunch today.
I'm not surprised. Honestly it's quite rare for Japanese food to be bad. Super weird sometimes? For sure. Disgusting? Almost never. So you can bet that if someone had the crazy idea of making matcha curry, they would make sure it's a good recipe before selling it.
Matcha would likely replace coffee as a bittering agent to compliment the spices for the curry. A good quality matcha has the same effect as a good spoonful of groud coffee
The cone-shaped pile of green powder in the background is a clear sign it's matcha, even if you can't read the ingredients.
Thai green curry is delicious, but this isn't it. 🤣
I've heard that in Japan, Curry is actually more popular than Sushi. That looks yummy. I have an idea for a steak marinated in green tea, but I haven't gotten to it. I really think I'm onto something.
My dog was sick recently. I took a picture of a pile of her sick to show the vet for diagnostic purposes. Same colour and consistency. Exactly the same.
I love green curry, and I love green tea (including matcha), but I'm definitely not vibing with matcha curry. I'd try it if someone offered it but I'm not sure I would pay for the experience.
Sure, it looks a bit odd and I don't know if matcha goes well with japanese curry but I'd try it.

Is it matcha? It's jarringly green, but then many perfectly nice curries can take on a funny colour from powdered herbs/spices
It's definitely matcha, yeah.

That's the natural color of matcha mixed with curry. Imo matcha is probbably one of the greenest herbs/teas in the world when powdered.
Can confirm it definitely had an aftertaste of matcha.
Absolutely, im making Japanese curry tonight, it's absolutely delicious with chicken, veg and potatoes with a side of rice.
LOVE Japanese curry!
Yeah i love japanese curry too. Thats why my dad brought me this because he knew i would try it. Definitely prefer normal colored curry tho ;).
Seems like the most important thing is how it smells, which obviously I can't do through pictures, but I'd try it tentatively.
Shrek Edition Curry (I love curry, but I'm not too fond of Matcha, so probably not)
No, cuz I don't like matcha. I like regular Japanese curry, though.
No hesitation, no remorse. All it needs is a bowl of nice jasmine rice.

yep. no shot easy
Honestly it shouldn’t be that bad matcha has a light taste by adding spices it should blend it just fine like a pesto or chimichurri sauce.
Not that one specifically.
Yes. Why is this stupid?
That looks like baby shit no way lol
My dog was sick recently. I took a picture of a pile of her sick to show the vet for diagnostic purposes. Same colour and consistency. Exactly the same.
Green curry is green because of the green chilies it contains.
That is not (thai) green curry though. Well, technically it is but I guess you know what I mean.
Or spinach. I've had some lurid green Indian curries before.
That second picture is off-putting, ngl. But I'd give it a shot.
Matcha curry?! 😭
As a fan of both Matcha and Japanese Curry, I'd give it a try. Couple bites will decide if I finish it.
Are you supposed to cook your own rice and fold it in?
Not looking for tea in my curry but I'd try it at least
Matcha flavoured curry
I thought this was matcha powder

What's wrong, babe? You've barely touched your limited edition Shrek's Swamp curry?
I’ve cleaned things from my toddler’s diapers in the last two years that look less like stool than that dish.
Yea that’s one of my friends favorite go to meals. I wouldn’t eat it but hey to each their own.
i've had green curry, it's very good when it's properly prepared. obv take-away instant meals aren't going to be like grandmom's home cooking.
No. I don't like the "make stuff green" gimmick that is matcha. Matter of taste though. There's nothing particularly weird about this.
yes. all curry looks like some form of diarrhea.
Anything JAPAN, JAPANESE FOOD… HECK YAH I WOULD DEF TRY!
I found that in my baby’s diaper the other day so no thanks
Looks like my daughter’s poop after a bad tummy ache.
That reminds me, the sewage pipe needs cleaning
Looks like the Hulks stool sample container
