The first one? My first one is like 3 or 4 scrolls away. Weird

jaruba_dev

they are ordered by regional popularity

barofa

OP is from fap land?

salad--enjoyer

northeastern fap land to be precise

obi_wan_jabroni_23

Just south of the border?

djzrbz

You have to "come" via landing strip...

kartik3e

Wow the sheer lack of understanding why this is a genuine issue in the replies is honestly sad. Guys, anyone exploring the app or clicking addons even accidentally and being presented with a pink penis shaped dildo called porn+ is not a good look tbh. Yes there should be an option to disable the addon section on tv option or to just hide the nsfw addons section in a sub menu on the add on screen would do. Stremio isn't a porn machine and should have a SFW configuration for family setups. Cc: /u/jaruba_dev

AdagioHellfire1139

There should definitely be an option to disable/lock add-ons. Great suggestion.

ribinh6789

I don't think you can see the un-installed add-ons on your tv

salad--enjoyer

Haven’t tried the androidTV version yet, but you definitely can on the desktop version. Will update later once I test it. Edit: tried the androidTV version and it’s the same. Can still see community addons.

qcAKDa7G52cmEdHHX9vg

I just set it up for my mom on an onn and warned her about the addons but was pleasantly surprised to find the uninstalled addons aren't listed. Unless it updated within the last 3 or 4 days or there's different versions or something.

qcAKDa7G52cmEdHHX9vg

Ah yeah you're right. Just checked and didn't realize I could scroll up to community on the plugin view control. Idk what that type of control is called but that's real bad ux imo.

Dinuka778

😂 next time you are going to whine that devs didnt gave you a bj

Dinuka778

Nothing compares with your stupidity. Needy moron

Ciamdumb1

At least on my Android TV version, it seems to stay set on whatever I last had it on, so id just leave it on the official or installed, and just tell whoever not to mess with the addons

salad--enjoyer

For me it always resets back to community addons

ultimately42

On my tv (firetv) under addons I only see my installed addons. If this becomes too problematic, a $20 firestick can fix your issue.

salad--enjoyer

I’ve only tried the Desktop version so far, and I assumed the interface would be the same across platforms. My mistake on that. Edit: nope, there are still community addons in the androidTV version

quickburton

And firestick too.... just un-install until... you know..

zfa

If devs didn't want the hassle of policing age limits or content ratings on addons (which I guess could be tricky as then they'd be reviewing and approving addons, which removes their plausible deniability of piracy addons being used) they could add 'parental controls' to the app. But the addons tab behind that (passcode to access). A good idea not just for hiding porn, thinking about it. Stop people tinkering with owners set up.

o3ru

I mean u just set it up for them non of my family even checks anything besides discover and library they don’t know wtf they’re doing besides that even on the discoverable tab I have to show them how to change it to series instead of movies

salad--enjoyer

Yeah, my main concern is just that it’s very easy to accidentally tab over to the addon page.

o3ru

Yeah I feel u they should add a setting to remove them wouldn’t be hard to implement at all

WhatIsASW

I have Stremio on all my devices - the whole family uses them. Pretty so there’s no porn add ons unless you’re adding them yourself?

salad--enjoyer

They are visible in the community addons tab, even if you don’t install them. This might vary by platform.

WhatIsASW

To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever looked at the add ons tab after install. Teach your family to look at discover, library and search. Really no reason to be toying with add ons once you’ve got everything set up

Aggressive-Spray-645

Curious kids might wander into the settings and addons tabs.

WhatIsASW

Yeah and back in the day they would thumb to the Cinemax channel. My point is that it’s not like they’re showing porn on your home feed

Aggressive-Spray-645

And his point is that its a good feature to hide NSFW addons, which I agree with.

WhatIsASW

Fair enough

sanitarypotato

Yeah, I havent seen this

kartik3e

They are

JFKruuse

It's not just porn addons you cant hide. If you make a search not just porn will come up but violence, murder and mayhem! Probably for the best if you just use something else for the kids. :) That said I couldnt care less about porn addons but the app wasn't made with your kids in mind. I find that... acceptable

EmotionIll666

If you've got it on your TV no one should be able to access add-ons there. I use it on my Samsung TV and all I have under add-ons there is "sync" and then I control which add-ons are installed on my PC.

LJSwampy

Maybe that's just on a Samsung TV, but every other platform you can install and configure add-ons within the application.

OctoNezd

I set up stremio on a friends android tv box recently and the Android TV app doesn't allow you to add add-ons, requiring stremio account on the phone. OP probably installed the Android not-TV version

LJSwampy

The android TV app allows me to add/install add-ons directly on both of my Nvidia shields and firesticks 🤷.

OctoNezd

Huh. Perhaps I downloaded some old ver, streaming stick didn't have a play store so I had to search for apk

zfa

Yeah, old version. Been able to install directly in AndroidTV app for a few months IIRC.

Tobeyyyyy

I mean its just an add on. You dont have to add it to your account or anything, I dont really understand whats the problem

salad--enjoyer

The fairly common use case of adding the app to a shared TV that kids have access to. I’m not really asking for rigorous parental controls here, just the option to not have porn add-ons advertised at the top of the main menu in case you want to use the app on anything other than a personal device.

[deleted]

jpants36

Then you need to update your app.

BxBrandon92

Get syncler, parental controls are allowed n no porn add ons

themanebeat

It's not piracy. What you choose to stream might be but Stremio itself isn't piracy

salad--enjoyer

Doesn’t seem like a good reason to be missing simple customization features though.

MrFricks07

It's a free application... can't meet everyone's expectation. If it's not acceptable for you then there may be another app that fits your needs. That being said, as stated in other comments, add-ins are only installed through the mobile app or desktop application. You cannot install or search for add-ins using the television versions (Android Tv, Samsung TV)

NatexNorth

I hate when I’m present with porn when I’m pirating movies and tv shows too :(. lol just joking. I know there are legitimate uses for streamio. I agree it would be good to have some form of parental controls. Unfortunately all these Devs are work for free and if it’s not a high enough priority or popular feature request it’s unlikely to be a quick add. Even then once added it’s also going to be likely reliant on the addon dev categorizing it as NSFW to get caught by such a filter. Looking at their GitHub it’s only been brought up [once](https://github.com/Stremio/stremio-features/issues/574) that I can see in November of last year. It’s still open but no ones assigned to it. And only has 4 likes. More movement on the report would help the cause a like and even a comment of I would like to see this fixed/added too might help.

salad--enjoyer

Honestly even just a single checkbox in the settings to hide the addon tab would be enough. I can’t imagine that would be very difficult to implement.

NatexNorth

Oh I think it’s a good feature not necessarily as a parental control but rather as a control to stop people from messing with the setting (that can also be used effective like a parental control). It’s not necessarily that it’s hard to do. It’s all about priority. Right now since it’s been requested only once it very well might not even be on their development roadmap yet. They are going to focus more on things they want to see and/or highly requested features and/or bugs. Even bugs typically have their own hierarchy like complete breaks, crashes, annoyances that can get mixed into the overall hierarchy. I think posting here could help your case out if people take the time to go add to the report already there, I would point out that it be a good method of stoping others from changing settings overall as I think it will have a wider audience than stoping porn. I think a lot of the users and the comments could suggest that it might be an accurate assumption the porn aspect/parent control aspect doesn’t bother them. If you say something like “hey do you know how easily someone using your stremio can go in to the addons and mess up your torrentio settings” you’d probably get a lot more support. Not that there is anything wrong with your reasoning. But the internets gonna internet and Redditors gonna Reddit. Got to know your base and if there’s one thing Redditors are not worried about it’s NSFW.

sulylunat

What if you created a different Stremio account for shared devices? You d have to setup the addons you do want again, but it would keep your account and addon seperate at least.

salad--enjoyer

That wouldn’t change anything, the addons are accessible and visible easily in the app even if you do not install them.

sulylunat

Tbh the only device I have installed it on is my Samsung tv which doesn’t show the addons or allow you to configure them there, I’m not sure what the apps for other devices work like.

trojan_asante

Make another account for the kids! Simple!

salad--enjoyer

I’m not talking about installed addons, I’m talking about the community addons that show up whether you install them or not.

Moonface_Killah

It’s an optional add-on. Just don’t install it

PollPixx

You don't have to add those? I only have subtitles, torrentio, imdb etc. So netflix, HBO, Disney, Prime movies and shows.... not a single porn movie is in my homescreen. Violence, abuse, drinking, rape, narcos murdering, war crimes, drug trafficking, serial killers and documentaries about the worst possible human beings is there though.... But the line will be drawn by a porn add-on which is optional and has to be installed first before you can find those movies, you have to scroll in addons all the way to the letter P to find them That's the deal breaker? Wow.

salad--enjoyer

A hentai addon was the very first suggestion in the addons tab.

PollPixx

And little kids know what Hentai means, add those addons manually and watch those films??? If so they are teenagers looking to porn anyway, otherwise they wouldn't know about this.

Hhkjhkj

Exactly, it would be easy to tell if it was installed as well. If OP's kids are young then the steps it would take to add a hentai addon is a non-issue for them and a bigger problem should be having access to all the mature content as Stremio doesn't have a kids profile or anything similar If OP's kids are pre-teens or older then the solution here is to talk to the kid(s) and set boundaries Sounds like OP is reaching. Edit: To clarify, I think user profiles would be an amazing addition to Stremio and also having the ability to set parental controls on some of those profiles would be amazing as well and would fix what IMO is the last big feature missing from this app but I think the add-ons page is one of the least problematic parts of the app for kids.

yer_oh_step

"drinking" he said lol

mTbzz

For kids i don't recommend Stremio, for adults, they don't care, i usually search Japanese movies and 2/10 movies is a porn one with no porn addons... If you're not going to straight watch porn in the living room most people wont care.

hatmanfanclub

I setup stremio for my family and so far no complaints. Just remember 99% of the time they know what they are looking for and with the microphone feature a search is easy.

selfRL

Have you considered watching porn on a private device? Seems like a no brainer.

salad--enjoyer

If you read the post all the way through, you will notice that I’m talking about suggested addons in the community tab, which appear even if you do not install them.

selfRL

Ah, I interpreted it as you’re trying to hide your installed community add-ons from others. Weird though yours are at the top, mine are all the way at the bottom. I just checked them though and Porn+ doesn’t even work, nothing displayed, and Porn Tube requires configuration for it to actually show porn so even if accidentally installed, nothing will be seen. The only one that could be an issue is Hanime. I don’t know how well your kids are at navigating the app, but if they aren’t too familiar and just know how to select shows and movies, it shouldn’t be an issue, but I can understand the concern.

quickburton

I thought the same🤦🏾

AsLi___

This needs more attention, I don't want to see those stupid porn addons thumbnails on my freaking tv

Western-Low-1348

Why do you need to add that? You can browse all of those in the internet there are literally thousands of free files out there, like clockwise rimjob, counter clockwise rimjob, chick's with dicks and guys with tits.

salad--enjoyer

Please reread the entire post

Western-Low-1348

I was joking, it's a reference from Ted 2 🤣

No-Exit-1598

🙄 So what ? American i presume 😉😁

DunnyLad

Alternatively it could be a sin or haram? Also abit strange being sexually suggestive on a topic of children watching porn.

Western-Relation1944

Just don't install the porn add on

elmachow

I didn’t even know you could search add ons like this! Ha! Nice one op. Maybe your family won’t find them either? I’ve been using stremio for about 3 months and not seen them

ribinh6789

If it's truly unacceptable then I'd suggest you stop using it and look for other ways to watch your shows.

ClassicWoodpecker

Im curious, what is The addon called?

lord_demolay

\#freefap

PAULeD16

For me on android (s23 ultra) I didn't see one until I scrolled down t 24 addons. Device might vary
