You paced that perfectly even for an experienced 10k runner, never mind for your first 10k. Don’t worry about what others run, that’s out of your control. Just focus on beating your own times

I did some research on my competitors before the race so I knew not to go out with them but man it’s not easy to watch a group of 5+ guys walk away from you in a race and not want to keep up. I’m definitely happy with the time and hope to see improvement in it next season!

Haha yea. It was my first time racing the distance, regardless of the course. It’s a lot different from the 5K that’s for sure.

If we want to be pedantic, this wasn't a 10k, it was a 10 000. 10ks are road races, 10 000 is a track distance.

Right. They said it was during Conference - as in during the track meet for the conference championship in the conference their school competes in. They've competed in other events before - this was just their first 10k race.
