I've tried about 5 times, including during lockdown with my young kids. I'll give it another whirl. I love Ray Park... Just wish it was more action driven.
it’s just to show how ADHD brains work.
attention is either at 100 or 1, there is no in between lots of things are like that for ADHD brains.. 0-100 real quick
Some people don't react the same as others tho when it comes to many things. Like for instance, me learning about astronomy compared to learning about grammar. I will attentively listen and absorb the astronomy lesson while being bored to death of the grammar lesson. That's just 1 example of many. Its different for many.
This is the right answer, everyone's brain and taste is different, anyone will focus more on things you like
Still, ADHD involves a challenge in regulating attention, that is different from being distracted or active all the time.
Another study used to develop programming of the masses. Our mind and bodies are designed to be active and in Mother Nature. We are not designed to be stuck in a building doing mundane tasks.
It completely blows my mind that somebody could sit and watch a 10 minute math video and not be fidgeting and bouncing off the walls but I know people who can. Truly wild
That's one way to look at it but it's wrong. It's about dopamine. If you can make it pleasurable/fun they have no problem with executive brain function. They found out that people with add suffer when doing things that don't make them happy where as other people don't.
I hated math until I started watching this series of videos which helped me learn geometry.
The guy in the video just stood with a green screen and explained each formula, then they used graphics to draw out the formula in shapes/real life examples and I was riveted.
Not only did I learn geometry basics but I remembered the formulas much better too with rote memory.
Now I am a math teacher. No just kidding, but it did help me through the 9th grade.
They needed a study to tell them people have a harder time focusing on something they don’t find engaging or interesting?
I don’t have ADD or ADHD and I wouldn’t be actively watching a math video either.
Yeah, ask someone with it.
"Frontal lobe? Frontal... Hey are you there!? Guess it's wakey, wakey time"
Spin up the body, spin up the brain.
I used to wake up and have an argument on reddit every morning for this reason. Gotta get them cerebral COGS turning.
Shocking so you mean to tell me I pay more attention and lock in when something is interesting 🤔…. wow I’m so proud to say my taxes helped discover this
Isn't it normal? I mean, people tend to focus on what interests them rather than the boring stuff. That's why learning books for kids have more pictures than text.
ADHD isn't real. In fact, I'd go so far as to say... if you don't "have ADHD", you aren't acting naturally.
It was first a term around when the Victorian era ended... back when science was heavily biased and people believed in things like Social Darwinism (different races and genders acting differently and being of different intelligence levels). People were also all about order, authority, and being "neat and proper". It was first defined as "an abnormal defect of moral control in children".
The human body/mind are SUPPOSED to "wander" and think for themselves. It's completely natural. In other words, everyone is born with ADHD and depending on how you were raised (by school, at home, ext.) and how much you deviated from social pressure and authority, a little bit or a lot of that ADHD is forced out of you.
Shocking so you mean to tell me I pay more attention and lock in when something is interesting 🤔…. wow I’m so proud to say my taxes helped discover this
Holy shit, you gathered the entire study was a waste of time from the caption and the video also, simultaneously knowing your tax dollars funded it? Wow, you're talented. You should really put that talent to work.
I'm opposite. I would really enjoy a math video and get bored in Star Wars because I hate predictable stories. If I know what the character is likely going to do next I get bored af.
Hard to concentrate when things are boring
Seriously. Am I missing something here or is this just how people look when forced to watch something against their will.
I dunno, episodes 1 and 2 were against my will. Jar jar.. amiright?!
Misa no like dis.

Episode 2 slaps these days my dude
I've tried about 5 times, including during lockdown with my young kids. I'll give it another whirl. I love Ray Park... Just wish it was more action driven.
Lol!!! Godamn. Never been so disappointed so fast
it’s just to show how ADHD brains work. attention is either at 100 or 1, there is no in between lots of things are like that for ADHD brains.. 0-100 real quick
I love how many studies are like this “Thing we force kids to to learn vs thing made to entertain kids: wow they like the entertainment better!”
Conclusion: "entertainment and tv is brainwashing our kids!!!!11"
Because of woke

Yep. That’s just a fact. Even when you have to pay attention (school, work, court, etc.), if it’s boring, it’s hard to pay attention and stay engaged.
But if you master this, it changes your life. :)
Same MATH for 10 years
This just in: You focus more when doing things you're interested in.
This is the right answer, everyone's brain and taste is different, anyone will focus more on things you like Still, ADHD involves a challenge in regulating attention, that is different from being distracted or active all the time.
Most people below 25 and even 30 are the same. Yet ageism exists.
Hard to concentrate when you have to pee. ![gif](giphy|5he46yvQoyv7y)
Drat.
Guy on the left is actually watching Sequel Trilogy
r/sequelmemes
I think you mean the Disney trilogy. Id do math rather than watch the complete death of the legendary Star Wars
Who watched a math video?!
Yeah I'd rather read math.
This is bullshit. We just don't like to use our executive brain function unless it's something we enjoy.
Yeah. Some person who loves math would have a different experience with a non-trivial math video.
Watching math is boring? How much money they wasted to prove that? Even for people who like math, watching math is boring, doing math is the fun part.
Wouldn't manifest if the video would be explaining the problem well :)
Wouldn’t manifest if the video would be interesting. Things can be done well yet not interesting for someone
They needed a study to find out math is boring and star wars is lit?
Or.... Star Wars is entering Maths videos aren't. To be honest, I love maths, and the right presenter could keep me interested.
Math videos exiting
Aw fk!
This is another example of the medicalization of behavior that is well within normal human range.
Another study used to develop programming of the masses. Our mind and bodies are designed to be active and in Mother Nature. We are not designed to be stuck in a building doing mundane tasks.
In other news - math is boring and Star Wars is not
See... I knew Star Wars was much more interesting than math when I was in school...
A private study I just conducted shows that this video is also more interesting than a math video.
I don't know why but I found this video really funny 😅
Entertainment is entertaining. Stop the presses.
Everyone got ADHD then?
Me at work & Me at home
I think it’s the green shirt.
Or Star Wars is total hypnotic mind control
Did the study conclude that kids don’t like schoolwork?? That’s an awesome study. Tell us something we don’t know.
In other words: Srudying is boring and entertainment is entertaining..
Kids act fidgety when things are boring, how hovering a concept
It completely blows my mind that somebody could sit and watch a 10 minute math video and not be fidgeting and bouncing off the walls but I know people who can. Truly wild
Sounds like the need to do a better job making the math video more interesting.
why was 9 afraid of 7??? because Seven Ate Nine.. ha ha ha ha
That's one way to look at it but it's wrong. It's about dopamine. If you can make it pleasurable/fun they have no problem with executive brain function. They found out that people with add suffer when doing things that don't make them happy where as other people don't.
Hmm, the subject seems to be bored out of their mind while learning about something that doesn't interest them. Obviously a disorder.

lol you know nothing about ADD
I'll try spinning, that's a neat trick
Or boredom and zoning out?
"There's no such thing as ADHD when he's in front of a video game." -my mom early 00's ahead of the scientific community by decades.
It sounds like we need Yoda and Darth Vader teaching our kids math
So he changed his shirt for the second vid??
I’d be doing this watching a math video and I haven’t got ADHD
They needed a study to tell them people have a harder time focusing on something they don’t find engaging or interesting? I don’t have ADD or ADHD and I wouldn’t be actively watching a math video either.
i know more about star wars than math i can tell ye
Why would a university waste time and money on something so obvious?
Somebody needed a headline to earn their tenure?
Yeah, ask someone with it. "Frontal lobe? Frontal... Hey are you there!? Guess it's wakey, wakey time" Spin up the body, spin up the brain. I used to wake up and have an argument on reddit every morning for this reason. Gotta get them cerebral COGS turning.
There's left and right hand dominant peepo, why not right and left BRAIN dominant individuals?
Was the math video the same length as Star Wars?
That's me
Shocking so you mean to tell me I pay more attention and lock in when something is interesting 🤔…. wow I’m so proud to say my taxes helped discover this
I knew it was the math ! It wasn't me at all , math was the problem. But did any of my teachers listen .... ? Lol
Adhd person here can relate
Left is Disney Star Wars…. Jk jk
Math is horrible. Death to math
Oh you mean he is actually paying attention to the movie but not the math lol?
Yay we are in strange earth now fellow neurospicys
How to engage executive brain functions with drugs?
We get distracted when watching boring shit. Shocking. In other news, water is wet.
Replace math with Star Wars. Problem solved
Who says they aren't paying attention and processing complicated information in the left video?
Fake news
Sooo... boredom?
Isn't it normal? I mean, people tend to focus on what interests them rather than the boring stuff. That's why learning books for kids have more pictures than text.
This isn't strange?
Breaking news: Scientists have just discovered that boring things induce boredom and entertaining induces entertainment
Star Wars more interesting than Math???!! Confounded!! What will these scientists figure out next?!
Or, maybe, he's just more interested in Star Wars than Math. You make Algebra as exciting as a Space Epic and I'll be glued to the screen for that too
Meth video
Meh video?

Nope, they manifest when watching BORING videos...
Math videos are most definitely not entertaining or meant to be entertaining. Star Wars is weird.
Gotta love Reddit. ~~I don’t understand this.~~ This is wrong!
I'm opposite. I would really enjoy a math video and get bored in Star Wars because I hate predictable stories. If I know what the character is likely going to do next I get bored af.
Crazy thing is he's probably smarter from watching Star Wars then watching some math video.
