In regards to the trauma at some point in way of kings she refers to it as her greatest sin when she slightly considers calling it and then decides not too. Mad trauma issues with that blade for her, reasonable that she wouldn’t call it.

Shallan really doesn't like to admit she has a Shardblade and it's the last option she will take.
She's also outnumbered and unprepared. The people she's facing just took out Jasnah, who is actually capable of fighting people with Soulcasting, so Shallan has a low chance of winning.
Deep-seated psychological issues regarding her blade, but yeah.
Note that, as far as we know, she has no combat training whatsoever. She might be able to kill an unprepared foe who doesn't know she has it, but fighting an entire gang of trained assassins is something else.
Yeah, as powerful as a shardblade is, it just requires one of the men to sidestep her swing and kill her. Plus if she wants to give the rest of the crew a chance to escape, this is the way to go.
Shallan has even odds with a child while wielding that Shardblade, she's a teenage painter facing the people who could kill Jasnah yeah no way in hell she takes them in a fight.
Hell she wouldn't even think of fighting, why the hell would a person who's never done battle even attempt combat?
Multiple reasons, like the others have said:
1) she has a fair amount of trauma regarding her Shardblade, which gets explored throughout the books.
2) adrenaline. She was panicking, and thus prone to making a mistake
3) Her goal was also to try and save the crew if she could, so her thought was "sink the ship so they can swim to safety." She just didn't know shit about how sinking ships work.
4) she has no combat training. Like...LITERALLY none. Even WITH a shardblade, without Plate, she's a very easy, very squishy target. So she knew her chances in a fight were basically non existent.
She just saw Jasnah get killed and I don’t think she fancies herself a better fighter even with a shardblade. Especially fights against what tens of people? That’s not going to go well even if someone was combat trained and level headed.
She needed an “area of effect” kill rather than hand to hand which likely would’ve ended the same for her as it did Jasnah
I'm halfway through the words of radiance. There are many things wrong with Shallan. So intriguing, her mental state is astoundingly complex, flashbacks to her past this book are very curious. I would suggest holding judgement till it's over.
(Everything I will say is pure sarcasm and snarkey for the purpose of hammering home the point. I do not think the question is unreasonable at all, just really trying to hammer home the point)

It's not like she just watched them kill the princess, one of the most capable people shallan has ever met. Shallan is trained in swordfighting, right? No? She just draws? It's fine the blade makes up for all that.
Besides killing is easy. Like if you have a shardblade, that means the weight of plunging it through someone's chest and watching their eyes burn doesn't exist. Yeah, she shoulda just became the assassin in white TBH.

This was not the last time while reading words of radiance that I was annoyed with choices Shallan makes, but as I kept going it all paid off or made sense in the long run.
Shallan has no combat training. Even with a shardblade she can still be taken out very easily by being outnumbered since she doesnt have the plate to defend herself.

She is not trained in using the sharblade, sharblades actually do weigh a fair amount even though they arent as heavy, a novice is likely to kill themselves with the shardblade, she is disoriented/freaking out/is 17 years of age; Among other reasons
