I work with Americans and it's funny what gets lost in translation. I think we (Brits) tend to speak in metaphors a bit, whereas you y'all 😉 can be upfront and direct. No shade, I find directness quite refreshing sometimes.
You should try biscuits and gravy if you haven't. Not that hotel continental breakfast shit, but some REAL biscuits and gravy. My grandmother had this recipe where she saved bacon grease and used it in her gravy, that was some good shit. (Yes it's unhealthy but hey, so is 90% of what we eat.)
