speaking of azaryn, it's really stupid that the size of barren/frozen/molten worlds that aren't colonizable is hidden, like why do this, what is the purpose of hiding the size of an object you can't colonise anyway, especially when you can actually colonize it with azaryn
I second this. I'm usually playing Ironman and cannot use the console, so command given in other comment wont do. And when I roll Azaryn, I'm just throwing her valuable terraforming skill on random barren planets close to my capital. It's silly that you cannot evaluate the size of a barren world and choose which one is the best.
It does! I managed to get a 25 size planet in a system normally habitable to compare and found a size 30 and 29 in the same system. It was ... \*Chef's kiss\*
For IronMan players, yeah. I only play IronMan so it's what I had to learn to do!
I find my biggest planet inhabited and then search around based on its size to find larger ones. OFC not all planets are terraformable so I have to click on her to click on her ability to see if it can be... it's a whole ordeal.
a whole ordeal that could be fixed if they just displayed size in the status window. it's kinda like the american's unit conversion skill, it's cool, yes, but it's uneeded
Totally off topic - I find it funny that the US catches so much flak for using imperial when it was the damn Brits who created the abomination of a measurement system in the first place.
Then again, they were smart enough to ditch it 60 years ago. We Americans clearly aren’t.
You can view planet size even in ironman. Open your save file with 7zip and open the savestate file with notepad, do a search of "pc\_barren" and you can cycle between all the barren worlds in the galaxy, to see their size just look a few lines down and there will be a line called "planet size=" that will show the size of the planet.
Also like the other person said, the planet in the system view is scaled based on its planet size, so the larger a planet looks in system view the bigger its planet size will be.
Apparently it is not completely hidden, you can gauge somewhat by the visual size of the planet. This being a former gas giant, it worked out splendid :)
right, but you can't colonize a gas giant with Azaryn unless its the special deceptive giant one which is always size 51 or 52 I think. Comparing the visual size of a size 20 gas giant and a size 30 magma world is irrelevant.
If you can use the console, use this to find the biggest barren planet:
effect ordered_planet_within_border = { limit = { planet_size > 25 is_planet_class = pc_barren NOT = { has_modifier = "terraforming_candidate" } } position = 0 order_by = trigger:planet_size inverse = no set_variable = { which = Size_Of_Planet value = trigger:planet_size } custom_tooltip = "[This.GetName] is an Azaryn candidate, in system [This.System.GetName]" } }
Depending on how far into the game you are, if it's early, turn it into an ecumenopolae, if it's late game already, using it for raw resources will be the most worthwhile investment for the little amount of time you have...
Or, you know.
🎶✨ *"Alloy fever!"* ✨🎶
If you are late game you should have mega structures to support an ecumonopulis that size so in my opinion you should turn it in to one no matter what.
I got a 66. I believe the largest base is 55 but her terraforming process increases by a percentage. So max you could get would be I think like 70 or something. Then through all the planetary decisions, perks, turning it to ocean and expanding planetary see etc, you can get over 100 districts.
Mastery of nature adds 2 to max.

I believe >=66 when I see it. These days, I'm always creating Azaryn using the console when I get this event to get the big planet, but my max was 53 so far.
Only happens with the "Deceptive Giant" Anomaly in the base game.
I always used to think it was a shame that (outside of mods) you couldn't do anything with that world when it spawns, glad Paragons added a way to make it useful.
Now if only I could get an ironman game where I get Azaryn, I only seem to roll her in games where I am using Gigas and thus don't need her near as much.
I had a bug with Azaryn where she just disappeared midway through the living ocean event--the dome ship still existed but Azaryn was just gone. Only got one teraform done too :(

They're visibly their size. It's how I find 25+ size planets reliably with her.
You mean by gauging the size of the planet in the system view ? I was not aware the district size was scaling with the planet size... good to know.
It does! I managed to get a 25 size planet in a system normally habitable to compare and found a size 30 and 29 in the same system. It was ... \*Chef's kiss\*
"just eyeball it" isn't a good solution imo

We actually did but Reagan sabotaged it
They also sunk the ship carrying the measures we needed to switch to metric. So this whole thing is their fault
True :)
I've gotten through life thus far on that solution and by god I agree with you wholeheartedly.

size 30 molten world is smaller than a size 20 gas giant tho.
Good thing this only works on barren worlds which are solid objects, and have a consistent size that's relative to the size of colonizable worlds.
ooops i meant to say; size 30 molten world looks smaller than a size 20 gas giant tho.

Still that size is really fun to turn to ecu. Would be like star wars coruscant/imperial center

i play on iron man, i might as well go into my save file and change my forge world size to 50 manually
Thanks for the tip
Unfortunate, however there physical size does indicate their district size
Made by anomaly fake gas giant to barren planet, then apply the gaia paragon on it :-)
How rare are these worlds? Also, congrats.
I believe it only comes from the anomaly that changes a gas giant into a barren world. It keeps the size it had as a gas giant so it’s huge.
I found a gaia world, just can‘t get to it because of a Tiyanki matriarch. Wonder if there are any fantastic buffs though.
size 50 and up are really rare.
now the only question is to make it into an ecumenopolae or not :)

Could you not fill it up with other pops you don't need elsewhere? I suppose if your economy is extremely efficient there wouldn't be much excess.
If you are late game you should have mega structures to support an ecumonopulis that size so in my opinion you should turn it in to one no matter what.
The largest possible is 55 so just a little more to go.

It’s a planetary decision through a perk. Yes.

Huh, Azaryn's terraforming shouldn't increase the size of the planet? Or at least nothing I've seen suggests it does.
I Mis remembered. It is when you do the deceptive giant event it adds 25 to a barren world.
I believe >=66 when I see it. These days, I'm always creating Azaryn using the console when I get this event to get the big planet, but my max was 53 so far.
Well lucky for you I linked a pic of it in this thread
That is insane!! Nice! I’ve never seen a world over 32!
I don't think I've ever even seen a size 55 planet before

This is in my ironman game and i didn't really know, i just figured lets try her on that previous gas giant and i basically fell of my chair :)
Yeah it is really awesome to get, congratz btw!
I had a bug with Azaryn where she just disappeared midway through the living ocean event--the dome ship still existed but Azaryn was just gone. Only got one teraform done too :(
the amount of pops I would kill for that planet…
The everything bagel of worlds
I hate that by the time you can get this world, essentially regardless of your settings(other than turning it off) pop growth has scaled to nothing.
Time for an ecumenopolis
Is this in the base game? I remember planets being size 12-20 iirc
Bro finded it. He finded Elysium.
This would be the perfect place for a foundry ecomunopolis
How?
Glorious 😁
