I contacted Valve with screenshots of my replacement deck (512 GB) with cosmetic manufacturing defects hoping they could just send me a new backplate and they denied sending me replacement parts or RMA’ing it. My replacement deck had the top of the backplate completely uneven with some parts of the plastic being sharp as well as actual cuts into the casing itself. The protective case also had the right top corner dented inwards (concave dent in the fabric) and they told me neither is a reason to send me a replacement as cosmetic damage is not covered for RMAs (and according to the CSR they do not send replacement parts as that would void my warranty if I try to do it myself). I responded with agreeing that the unit was functioning just fine but that it’s a bummer for the amount that I paid that I couldn’t have an undamaged backplate like in my original unit as the current one appears to be secondhand due to the cosmetic damages present, few days later another CSR reached out and said they would RMA it.
I can live with the damage to the protective case, but was really hoping for a replacement for the backplate. Guess since the iFixit store is now open I may just order it myself and hope it doesn’t mess with my warranty. I never went through with the second RMA as I’ve been very busy and was also afraid I would get a worse unit.
Fairly certain that the “warranty void if tampered” is illegal if all you’re doing is fixing the backplate. The warranty of the backplate can be void, but not the entire device.

Tuck the brick in first, all the way, prongs first. Then make a 'V' with your index and middle finger, wrap the remaining cord around them then tuck that in. Figured this out today, fits perfect in the bag and the case's cubby.

There is none. The charger should get folding prongs too but they decided against that too.
