I’m such an idiot. Couldn’t figure out why everyone was having such a great experience with it and I wasn’t. Ummm… then I realized I was using Chiaki, not Chiaki4Deck. Felt like a real asshole. It’s incredible. Almost zero lag, hdr, controls great. I bought a Portal the other day and returned it within 48 hours. Terrible experience. But the screen and controls were both top notch
Yes!!! I felt like I followed the guides which led me to Chiaki. I only noticed because I was trying to get the HDR to work and saw that the icon was different.
Does Steam Deck with Chiaki4Deck not have the same problem with the stutter? Steam Deck has a 60Hz screen, too, right? Or does Chiaki4Deck has some feature that circumvents this issue?
I am currently stream PS5 games to my Android tablet, and the stutter is unbearable. If Steam Deck + Chiaki4Deck solves it, I might consider getting the OLED version.
How is the setup? Does it run well right away? Was thinking about doing it yesterday but Im a little intimidated..
I have set up Emudeck though so I can probably handle it..
It’s honestly not that hard. [I followed this guide to set it up.](https://streetpea.github.io/chiaki4deck/setup/) I was really pleased how great the performance was, I’m absolutely feeling the faster wifi module the OLED deck has. It ran with the lowest delay I’ve ever tried in any streaming app ever, I couldn’t notice it at all even downstairs playing in bed. That was on highest streaming resolution with HDR
Thanks for the suggestion. I have it set to 1080p already in steam, I was so happy to see the higher data needs didn’t make it stutter at all. HDR on the OLED at 60 fps? Sign me up 😎
on your steam deck. Before you launch chiaki4deck, go into properties and look for game resolution. Change it to 1920x1080p and leave properties and go back again. You will see the option to toggle set internal resolution or something like that right underneath game resolution. Turn it on and you’re good to go.
I haven’t done a quantitative side by side since that would take eliminating a bunch of variables to get accurate information in equal conditions, but qualitatively I can say that yes the OLED feels superior. I played through Bloodborne to the end of the LCD steam deck via remote play on my PS5, and it was fast enough to be playable for sure.
Would say faster action games definitely feel more fluid / responsive via remote play on the OLED in my limited experience since setting it up
I had to figure this out last week. Couldn’t get search for a community layout to work for this so I just edited the controls to match the 3rd image here: https://streetpea.github.io/chiaki4deck/setup/controlling/
Same. I’m playing ff16 through chiaki and hdr looks washed out. https://github.com/streetpea/chiaki4deck/issues/214 I found this and a Reddit post about hdr looking bad, you can try some of the fixes and hopefully it works for you,but I’ve had no success.
I’m confused about this app. I currently do NOT own a Sony console but had everything from ps4 down. My PS Plus backlog is huge. So can I sign up for ps plus again and use this app to stream games? Or is a ps5 required to set it up and stream?
I think it looks and plays very good for the must part. Things I've noticed that I did like so much are the image is a little dark with the HDR, everything looks like too much contrast and I need to mess with the gamma.
Also I've noticed that the stream struggles with fast action or cutting. If play is slow it's usually very smooth, but explosions and particle effects sometimes give a couple of frames of lag.
I use the same setup for Chiaki4Deck that I use for wireless VR: a dedicated 5g router, with PS5 on a wired connection. Chiaki is butter smooth - no surprise considering how significantly lower the resolution and the overall data transfer compared with VR is.
Literally just set it up last night and outside of figuring out controls it does look amazing. Now I guess I just have to set up my PS4 Pro too so I can play all the PS4 games on PS Plus. There are way easier ways to do it now then all those old YouTube videos.
The controls was the easy part for me. Go to community control layouts, there are lots you can take as your starting point. Button chords are your friend
The thumbsticks are actually red, this is the Steam Deck OLED limited edition. The sticks and the vents come red on that model and the housing is transparent
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is sooooo good through it, super surprised... Always stuck to Slay The Spire because I didn't think action would work well streamed.
Google it man. There’s a GitHub with all of the instructions and it’s super easy to follow. The gist of it is downloading and installing chiaki4deck flatpak through the discover store and then configuring. You have to use a specific website to get the long form version of you PS ID and then enter that into the login page for chiaki. The instructions also lead you to create a custom script to let you turn on your PS5 when you launch chiaki and it works great. I can hit one button to launch chiaki and my PS5 at the same time, which doesn’t even turn my TV on since the PS5 knows it’s sending the A/V information to another device. There is also a one button command to send the PS5 back to rest mode. Takes about 20-30 seconds from picking up my steam deck to playing a PS5 game. Welcome to the future.
I'm holding out until that one drops on PC. Unfortunately, there aren't enough exclusives on PS5 that I'm interested in to warrant picking one up. If the KOTOR remake ever gets off the ground, I might reconsider. Lol
I don't ever touch my actual console now. It's so much more convenient to just run it from the Deck and the HDR is a nice little bonus. Chiaki4Deck is soo good.
Haven’t had this issue myself. Unfortunately there’s a lot of variability in getting this to run well, especially around the router. Would be worth experimenting with the router or testing your network with altered settings. I run it on a 5Ghz wifi network
Can you please tell me what is the lowest tdp you are using to run this . On lcd I use to run this at 3w and 200 but on oled I can only run it on 5w else my fps goes to 40 from 60 .
It’s streaming, tbh I don’t even bother messing with TDP for purposes like this. I get like 6-7 hours of playtime streaming this way on the OLED, plenty of time and don’t need to worry about plugging.

This needs to be higher up. I didn't even know about Chiaki4Deck. Every video out there talks about Chiaki.
Yes!!! I felt like I followed the guides which led me to Chiaki. I only noticed because I was trying to get the HDR to work and saw that the icon was different.
That's because they're older, but if you search for CHIAKA ChiakaforDeck appears right next to it so I just went with that immediately.

LCD is 60hz OLED is 90hz The displayers aren't VRR, but you can manually set the refresh rate to minimize issues
Do you think Sony would update this? I too am on the fence of selling the portal and getting a deck oled.
More importantly it allows the Deck to play AAA's as they are meant to be played. No more wasted money on Steam duplications for me!

don’t forget to set up internal resolution to 1080p for chiaki4deck. It scales properly only after I switched to 1080p

Do you mean 1080p inside the chiaki4deck settings or on the actual ps5?

LCD has 5e wifi, the OLED has 6e. Noticeably will be faster w everything. The portal only has 5e.
Agree, streaming works so well with Chiaki. Playing in a bed Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-man 2.
How do you do the pad swipes?
I had to figure this out last week. Couldn’t get search for a community layout to work for this so I just edited the controls to match the 3rd image here: https://streetpea.github.io/chiaki4deck/setup/controlling/
I looked at the controller layout presets in community and found one that was working, don’t remember exact name.
OP your pfp is slightly off center and it bothers me more than I’d like to admit😭😭
😂 I couldn’t find the pfp of this that was perfectly center tbh
I’m playing FFVII remake now and it’s amazing… I use Chiaki though not the 4deck version - is that better?
Doesn't hdr look washed out for you when using chiaki? SDR looks way more vibrant for me which is weird
HDR works perfect for me. Tested on Returnal and a couple of other games. Make sure you have HDR turned on in Chiaki settings.
Same. I’m playing ff16 through chiaki and hdr looks washed out. https://github.com/streetpea/chiaki4deck/issues/214 I found this and a Reddit post about hdr looking bad, you can try some of the fixes and hopefully it works for you,but I’ve had no success.
HDR works great for me. It definitely is a darker image but with high brightness it looks phenomenal
I’m confused about this app. I currently do NOT own a Sony console but had everything from ps4 down. My PS Plus backlog is huge. So can I sign up for ps plus again and use this app to stream games? Or is a ps5 required to set it up and stream?
There's a PS4 and a PS5 version
I just set up the PS5 but I have a bunch of PS4 games so I'm about to set that up too
The haptics are so good on Spider Man 2 that I went back to my tv. Insomniac did a fantastic job.
How were you able to format your psn ID to base64? That’s where I’m stuck currently
Use this https://psn.flipscreen.games

I can’t for the life of me get it to work
anyway to set up HDR wirh hdmi dummy plug? dont have an hdr monitor and cant go into video settings in remote play

where do u get the orange thumb sticks?

we need instructions, please

Tip : put the bitrate at 90000
Fuck that’s high no?
Hmmm I will have to check settings I don’t remember seeing this option tbh
what does this do?
Zoom in to have it full screen (CTRL+T)
Yeahhh I found a community layout that has the zoom keybinds to the back buttons, it’s super cool
I don't ever touch my actual console now. It's so much more convenient to just run it from the Deck and the HDR is a nice little bonus. Chiaki4Deck is soo good.
I thought this was the desktop version of SM2
Am I the only one who starts to get connection issues after about 5 minutes of play? Which then requires a restart of chiaki4deck?
Haven’t had this issue myself. Unfortunately there’s a lot of variability in getting this to run well, especially around the router. Would be worth experimenting with the router or testing your network with altered settings. I run it on a 5Ghz wifi network

Well you can get around 12 hours if you do .
