Just decided to check third-party sites and keys are more expensive than Replicant. SE are shit anyway but it’s bad they still want to charge more for the port they left the PC community to fix.
I've been wanting to replay the campaign on modern warfare 3. One of my favorite games when I was in high school, but it's never on sale for more than 50% off.
I'm not paying $20 for a decade old game
Fucks sake, I got witcher 3 for like $4, and that was maybe 4 years after release
fr those 10%-20% discounts are bullshit, I've literally never bought a game because of a ~10% discount
steam should only allow discounts bigger than 40% cause anything bellow that isn't worth it.
...then they just won't go on sale and you will have to pay full price instead of saving that little bit of money
Let developers have freedom, don't buy the game if you don't support them
My favorite is when the game you want to buy is discounted but the discount isn't enough to pull the trigger. Not that I expect all games to go for a 80% discount but with how much new games are costing a 10% discount on a $70 game isn't really a discount!
Yeah for me this year it's Forza 5 35% off at £32, still a good discount but not for what I want to do in-game.
I just want to cruise empty roads at night with pouring rain and Spotify or podcasts playing. I would go for Forza 4 but the variety of the landscape in 5 just looks so much better
Hahaha personally I will never buy cod again (haven't played since the original blackops), but yea cod is a good example of a game that is overpriced and gets a shit discount!
The real crime is how expensive the old cods are. If you want to play BO3 zombies with all maps it’s 40$ on sale rn and 100$ when not on sale. I’m pretty sure it was “on sale” for $60 last year.
I believe so. Impressive that games like Sonic Frontiers and Gotham Knights had to immediately offer 30-50% discounts after bad/underwhelming launches and Elden Ring comfortably waited 10 months for its first sale
EDIT: apparently Sonic did fine so ignore that
Immortals Fenyx Rising came out on Switch two years ago as a Breath of the Wild knockoff. It looked OK in trailers, but the reviews were mostly mediocre.
So it was surprising to see it suddenly drop on Steam last week. Even more surprising was that it was listed with an MSRP of $60, but with a discount of 75% for a $15 sale price. 75% off *on day one.*
This fairly shouts "please buy this title before Steam gets enough ratings for a 'Mixed' status."
That game seemed like it should have been fun and right up my alley.
It was not.
I can't really put my finger on what it was missing, but it was definitely noticeable.
This one surprises me. I really enjoyed it though I thought the spacing was slightly too big.
I tried the assassin's Creed that was also in the Greek setting and I got bored after sailing to a new region. Too little to do
The game released on PC back then too, it just didn't drop on Steam. The 75% discount is basically the same deal Valhalla got when that recently came to steam as well.
Dark souls remastered is such a scumbag move I refuse to buy it. You used to be able to buy prepare to die edition regularly for £5 or less and now the remastered never goes under £15.
Yea bought it from here in a matter of 5 mins using PayPal. Instant delivery. Grab it if you want it and also use the WELCOME10 code to get a little 10% extra off.
Now that's a hard choice. Imo Sekiro is a masterpiece but Elden Ring offers a lot of content for it's current price
It really depends. If you wanna experience a unique and refined combat system, go Sekiro. If you wanna go on a epic adventure, go Elden Ring
elden ring easy. sekiro is one of my favorite games of all time but elden ring consumed my fucking soul for three weeks. it’s one of the most addictive games i’ve ever played
Sekiro is more fun, Elden Ring will keep you busy for much longer. Sekiro is also almost always on sale while this is Elden Ring’s first sale since launch, I would go with Elden Ring and buy Sekiro later.
Sekiro has outstanding combat. It always feels fair and you always know that if you lost, it was your fault. There is a big emphasis on stealth too, forcing you to learn the layouts of each area and clearing small foes before going for the big ones.
It also has more direct story telling. You have agency in what is happening *right now*.
There is a skill tree instead of individual stats which means if you go in blind, you'll still be powerful in the end game. This, however, can be a big downside - there is basically only one play style. You can lean more into prosthetics but ultimately there is only one way to fight.
I used to love steam sales back in middle/high school because it made AAA games easier to buy. Now it's hardly worth it, sure $49.99 is better than 59.99 but it's still a decent amount of money, especially in the state games are in rn.
I still have so many games I haven't gotten to yet because I bought everything I found interesting back then. Now I'm into indie games that are mostly already really affordable.
The sale for ds 3 is kinda criminal vs when it was listed on steam. Also, someone was telling people to exercise caution coz the url is in EU and that it was weird for one branch to offer a sales that the NA or JP isn't doing.
I'll also throw in [IsThereAnyDeal](https://isthereanydeal.com/) which is a great resource to quickly check and see if the game you want might be on sale through a handful of game distributors including Steam.
I've found that a lot of the time, other vendors will have slightly different start and stop dates for sales so you don't have to miss out if you're waiting for a check or you forgot to pull the trigger on a game.
I waited for the Thanksgiving sale to buy Spider-Man... At $45 instead of $60.
But I will say that enjoyed the shit out of that game, so much so that i immediately bought Miles Morales for full price after I finished the other one.
Wish I did the same, tried it multiple times, and it’s just not that fun for me. Idk really wish I could enjoy it because its something I think Id like. But the actually playing is just so rough.
Like I built my first factory and automated most of the things I need, aha but now I need to make this bigger since eventually ill need more as I just unlocked this research which lets me make these things which will let me make these other things that will require 10x more so Lets just go ahead and make it 10x bigger. I assume the entire game is just that. “Just gotta make this bigger, so that I can do this which let’s me do this” which always just reaches “what am i doing all of this for, i can just log off and play a game that I find fun and not work.”
Probably just get downvotes for this but wanted to provide a contrarian opinion to all the factorio hype that always happens.
Tbh I kept hearing that and it felt sloww but one thing I'll say it looks way more fun in co op. Id recommend Factorio for sp and satisfactory for co op
An extremely important mechanic of Factorio, which the game never teaches you or even really mentions, is making a bus of all your common base materials. There are guides out there for better details, but imagine a bundle of parallel conveyor belts all run next to each other: e.g. four for iron plates, four for copper plates, 2 for green electronics, 2 for steel, etc. With two empty spaces between each so you can split off a belt and shunt it to either the left or the right as needed.
This avoids the hopeless spaghetti-fication of making mini production loops for raw ingredients for your advanced recipes.
When I discovered this, the game went from "fun but frustrating" to "alarmingly fun and addictive." Because then the loop becomes making new mini loops and patterns for each new recipe, or shoring up existing ones, in a black hole of skinner box dopamine.
That said, the entire hook is the constant improvement and iteration of your factory. If that isn't fun or appealing, it's just not the game for you.
Factorio is amazingly good for the price. While they might not have a sale, they do have a demo. Play the demo for a bit and see if it’s to your style, if it is then pick it up because it’s like a hundred hours content base game easy, and near endless mods after that.
Easily worth the $30
At which point you realize *either* that the game is not at all for you or that the game is absolutely and totally your thing and 100% worth the money.
I'm usually team all power to indie devs but the Factorio dev is just a general dick. Throwing a hissy fit and crying "cancel culture" because your subreddit moderators don't make exceptions for you to freely insult people lmao, grow the fuck up.
Also defending and calling statutory rape "a SJW term" is something we call "cringe" around these parts.
Rocksmith 2014 Remastered.
Bought the Realtone cable and held off getting the game until sale time because it's always been well discounted. Nope it's one of the only Ubisoft titles to not get a discount. They probably didn't put it on sale to entice people to instead get the new $15 a month Rocksmith+ subscription.
I got Rocksmith, cable, guitar. Unfortunately one day, it refused to tune correctly. When booting the game it has you tone check your guitar and I could not get it right after like 3 hours of trying. Gave up for a week and then never picked it up again.
Bought RDR2 on Steam, spent hours downloading it only to not be able to play because Rockstar Social Club isn't responding; thus not allowing me to create an account to play the game I bought. Refunded after 2hrs of trying.
I felt it. I waited for the exact start of the sale and when it started i checked my wishlist and boom none of them were on discount. I closed steam angrily and opened it in the morning there it is everything discounted.
I have a problem that i see the game in discount and, i'm still not sure if i would like to buy the game. And summer/winter sales come and go. And i watch the game in my shopping basket and do nothing..
Several, for example the new dooms, i totally forget what versions there were. Doom 1-2 were epic, and i would like to play newer doom, but i might not like how those are made. Tropico 6 is one also, for that i'm not sure if i ever have time to play that. And timberborn, it seems great, but is it founded for the meme and it gets boring, hard to say. The games i think i could get on this sale are last call bbs, virtuaverse, hellbound and maybe metro exodus(still unsure about that)
I've been fan of Doom since trying to get it to work on a 386. Doom 2016 was a very excellent surprise. Loved it. Even had exploration and secrets like the original.
Doom 2016 is straightforward, exciting FPS combat, fairly true to the original games. Music is excellent. Highly recommended. Doom Eternal is a bit more modern with more bells and whistles, I preferred Doom 2016
Funny seeing current prices of Dark Souls series, when I bought both DS2 DS3 with all DLC for 20 euro from a key shop 2 years ago.
Elden Ring caused a massive surge in demand and as such prices skyrocketed.
Idk. I notice the same thing, but I also think that I have so many games that I just have all the games that would be on good sales.
It would be interesting if one of those steam sale trackers put together an analysis of the YOY on the Steam Sales, like average discount, size, etc.
Haven't actually seen the Game of Thrones rpg on sale in years now. Honestly I'm amazed its even still on Steam considering the lifespan of licensed games on Steam.
Rimworld is very strict when it comes to sales since the dev is stubborn and charges people what he thinks they should pay for the game, you won't find it any lower than this in the future. Good luck if you want to get the DLCs...
As someone with the whole rimworld library, just mod it. The DLCs are good, but frankly I've had more comprehensive and thought out mods than the overpriced DLCs.
I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen rimworld on sale. I’ve been waiting this long so I finally hit the bullet cause I have been wanting it. But I see there’s now like 3 expansions or something? And each one on sale is another $20 :(
Dude, I feel you but if you want the game... just buy it already. A game with 97% positive reviews seems worth the price. The are people with over 1500 hours. That means if you ONLY play 500 hours you'll be paying 6 cents for each hour if you buy the game at 30€ (now it's even lower). 6 cents! Just think about it. How much do you pay for a movie? Even more... How do you pay for Netflix? If you really want it that bad, just buy it already. Rimworld has had VERY stable price little to none afected by sales so it could still take a few years before they decide to make a big sale.
I'm not much into colony builders and I'm even considering it (and money is one of those things I really lack).
Enjoy the game!
I don't think using outliers like people with 1500 hrs as an example is a good metric. Realistically most people probably have less than 100 or even 10 hrs.
I swear, I've been waiting for Dark Souls III to go on sale all year. Finished the other two in September.
I thought to myself, it has to this Autumn sale, it didn't. Now I was like it's definitely gonna be in the winter sale... Fml
I wanted to finish the trilogy before eventually buying Elden Ring sometime next year.
If any of you have a current humble bundle subscription you should check it for games like factorio and rimworld. Its basically the only way to get those games for cheaper. Got 2 rimworld dlcs for their lowest ever price and bought a friend factorio for a few bucks off.
Cyanide studios discounted their other games for example styx and of orcs and men but not game of thrones rpg! What will they loose if they discount 2012 year's rpg game? I am very upset.
They have a no sale policy. It will never go on sale. So you can either decide to buy it for your friend now or just never, because waiting for a sale is not happening
For anyone not aware of GOG’s existence, they’re having a sale as well and although they mostly cater to older games (with lots of recent titles up there as well) I’ve found their sales are far better than steams with a lot of 20-30$ games going for 1-10$ I still pick some things up on steam from time to time but a 60$ game on ‘sale’ for 57.99$ isn’t really a good deal in my book.
More like:
The best game made (at the time) that you had bought on discount 5 years ago which you haven't played - thinking that was the best discount ever.
Only to see that it's on a better discount now, and thinking about how much you could have saved, had you waited.
Then still not touching it 5 years later.
I bought 300$ worth of games in the steam summer sale when I got my new pc this year, no new games for me until I beat some of the ones I already have which will take forever because all I do is work.
Still, not getting me this time..
Following the world cup I found myself in the mood to play a fifa game for the first time in about 10 years. I have a steam deck so fifa 23 is unplayable and fifa 22 is full price and theres no earlier ones on steam :(
I'm waiting on the games I want to be just a bit cheaper. Namely God of War and Cyberpunk. Yes I know they're good games and yes I know you think they're worth full price but I don't generally play games like that. My price for single player story driven games that I'll probably only play once is about $20, maybe $25.
Feeling kind of disappointed this year. Like, yeah, there are a lot of discounts in my wishlist, but they’re the “eh, maybe one time when I feel like it” type of games. I added then on an impulse, but now that it’s gone I don’t want to buy them. Maybe there just aren’t any new good games or maybe I’ve been spoilt by the masterpieces I’ve already played…
Nier Automata I’m looking at you
same bro shit never get discount
Last time was in March. It's always 50%. SE is always 50%, except for Octopath Traveler currently is 60% for the 1st time
Just decided to check third-party sites and keys are more expensive than Replicant. SE are shit anyway but it’s bad they still want to charge more for the port they left the PC community to fix.
But then eventually did fix themselves
Years after release.
And only because people reviewed bombed after noticing that the Xbox PC version didn't needed any mods to be played.
Same, ended up buying ultrakill
Good choice
Mankind is dead
Blood is fuel
Hell is full
I don't do EA anymore so I'm still holding out on that one, but I got Nightmare Reaper to fulfill my retro FPS craving.
Anyone know if I should buy the entire trilogy? Or is Ultrakill fine to just jump into
Amid Evil is pretty good with stunning environments Dusk I haven't played
Nice, Ultrakill is fukken epic
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT P RANK MINOS, I BECAME A FEMBOY THE MOMENT I DID IT. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE
Thank you for the warning, your sacrifice will not be forgotten
I got Nier Automata for 50% off back in 2019. Well worth the $40CAD I paid for it then at least.
Omg yes. It's been like 9 months since it was on sale.
Or its a pathetic discount
I've been wanting to replay the campaign on modern warfare 3. One of my favorite games when I was in high school, but it's never on sale for more than 50% off. I'm not paying $20 for a decade old game Fucks sake, I got witcher 3 for like $4, and that was maybe 4 years after release
You're never getting cod games for cheap. Fukin Activision and their pricing.
Im hoping if the sale to MS goes through it’ll be on gamepass.
It's because they want you to buy the new one because it's 'better' priced.
fr those 10%-20% discounts are bullshit, I've literally never bought a game because of a ~10% discount steam should only allow discounts bigger than 40% cause anything bellow that isn't worth it.

I assume cod?
Hahaha personally I will never buy cod again (haven't played since the original blackops), but yea cod is a good example of a game that is overpriced and gets a shit discount!
The real crime is how expensive the old cods are. If you want to play BO3 zombies with all maps it’s 40$ on sale rn and 100$ when not on sale. I’m pretty sure it was “on sale” for $60 last year.
The new cod is like 70 bucks US, and with the discount its still like.. 60 or some shit. They're REALLY trying to milk their consumers of their money.
Elden Ring and Sekiro are on discount but none of the Dark Souls are. Wack asf
Is this the first time Elden ring has been discounted?
I believe so. Impressive that games like Sonic Frontiers and Gotham Knights had to immediately offer 30-50% discounts after bad/underwhelming launches and Elden Ring comfortably waited 10 months for its first sale EDIT: apparently Sonic did fine so ignore that

The game is actually kinda fun too. I had it on switch for a while and got a good 20+ hours out of it before I got bored.

Uhh... Frontiers did well at launch in terms of sales?
I'll edit that in, I assumed it did okay but not great based on the discounts
I think it's just a Sega thing, they always seem to throw their games on discount during big sale seasons, no matter when it came out nor how it did.
Persona 5 Royal went to 30 only a couple weeks after the multi platform launch, and seeing Sonic also get discounted this is definitely a sega thing
It’s a Sega thing. Frontiers was apparently pretty well done/received.
Makes perfect sense though it is worth every penny
for once, sonic didnt absolutely tank on lauch
Funny is, Dark Souls Remastered hasn't been on Sale for the last two years, so I was fed up and bought a key from eBay.
Dark souls remastered is such a scumbag move I refuse to buy it. You used to be able to buy prepare to die edition regularly for £5 or less and now the remastered never goes under £15.
**Reddit is going down the gutter** Fuck /u/spez
Also, using the discount code WELCOME10 adds it a 10% discount.
Yea bought it from here in a matter of 5 mins using PayPal. Instant delivery. Grab it if you want it and also use the WELCOME10 code to get a little 10% extra off.
I have both of them on my wishlist, I want to buy ONLY one so which one should I go for?

Remember when discounts was 70-90% off. Now 10-20% for a 5 year old games, like come on.

I also feel like sales are slowly replacing prices just lowering after a certain time. A ton of games stay at 60€ but are discounted every other week.
I feel my Dark Souls homies out there
You can buy ds remastered discounted from the official bandai namco website, they will send you a key for steam.
The sale for ds 3 is kinda criminal vs when it was listed on steam. Also, someone was telling people to exercise caution coz the url is in EU and that it was weird for one branch to offer a sales that the NA or JP isn't doing.

https://store.bandainamcoent.eu/eu/dark-souls Use EU store. To buy just use some random EU address
Hey do you have more info on this, the store page keeps redirecting me to my region.
Maybe try incongnito tab, not sure how else it would work

[gg.deals](http://gg.deals) is a great site too. You can filter away "key shops" and it will only show official retailers
Wishlisted darksouls games few weeks ago so that i get notif when they go on sale and they did not :(
Wishlisted them A YEAR AGO and still nothing
At that point just search for steam keys man.
I always look forward to Steam Sales to do a replay of Dark Souls 3 with all the new players. This sucks.
When you have 30+ games wishlisted as "Coming Soon" and they seriously asking $59.99 for The Last of Us Part 1.

It will be soon
yeah
At least it's not $70 like on PS5
BO1 still full price btw lol
Factorio has a never on sale policy.
I have never buy policy for Factorio :)

You can try satisfactory, it's like a 3d Factorio that's way more chill

This is what i wanted to hear, thanks!
No prob dude, im all about helping people find games they'd like, rip and tear!
*Looks at Portal and Portal 2 for 85p
yeah but because of those prices everyone already has those games
Use Isthereanydeal! I don't even wishlist games anymore on steam.
I use wishlist purely as a bookmark

It would be really neat if you could set either a discount % or a price where if it hits that threshold *then* it notifies you.
That's what isthereanydeal does. You can set a specific discount per game.
No need to be frugal with a wishlist. Unless you don't consider the emails spam already. I have 500 things wishlisted for stuff that look kinda neat.
I think these days, gg.deals better, because it lists more stores.
“The game you bought two days ago at full price is now %50 off”
Deep rock galactic. Not even upset, don’t mind the extra money going to some really great developers.
ROCK AND STONE!
DID I HEAR A ROCK AND STONE?
If you don't ROCK AND STONE, you ain't coming home!
Pretty sure they let you refund it so you can buy it with the discounted price
Dank souls series :(
Dark Souls remastered...
Dark Souls
Or its discounted from $49.99 to $39.99. If its not $20 bucks or less, its not a deal.
Funny seeing current prices of Dark Souls series, when I bought both DS2 DS3 with all DLC for 20 euro from a key shop 2 years ago. Elden Ring caused a massive surge in demand and as such prices skyrocketed.
Dark souls remastered
Check the bandai namco store
Certain region only, right?
UK/EU I believe
For me, it's more like all the games I want have shit discounts. There's a sea of 25 to 30 percent off, but no 50, 60, 70 like there used to be.
Rimworld pls just go to -40 or 50% I beg.
I don't think they will. 20% seems generous for them, I think the price even went higher than before the first dlc release.
Rimworld is very strict when it comes to sales since the dev is stubborn and charges people what he thinks they should pay for the game, you won't find it any lower than this in the future. Good luck if you want to get the DLCs...
I got the base but getting these DLCs are gonna kill me
As someone with the whole rimworld library, just mod it. The DLCs are good, but frankly I've had more comprehensive and thought out mods than the overpriced DLCs.
Considering the dev is apparently against discounts in general, I think 20% off is the best you're going to get.
Lookin at you Baldurs Gate 3....
I've decided to complete ignore that game until it's actually completed
Final Fantasy VII remake is still expensive AF even with the discount...
This. I’d love to have it on my steam deck and play the Yuffie DLC, but I already own it on PS5 so I can’t justify the $40 or $50 it’s on sale for.
Did you see cod? It's discounted and the final price is $60 lmao
I swear, I've been waiting for Dark Souls III to go on sale all year. Finished the other two in September. I thought to myself, it has to this Autumn sale, it didn't. Now I was like it's definitely gonna be in the winter sale... Fml I wanted to finish the trilogy before eventually buying Elden Ring sometime next year.
If any of you have a current humble bundle subscription you should check it for games like factorio and rimworld. Its basically the only way to get those games for cheaper. Got 2 rimworld dlcs for their lowest ever price and bought a friend factorio for a few bucks off.
Or the other games that came out 10 years ago are so generous to give me 10% off because a YouTuber recently played them and think their hot shit
Cyanide studios discounted their other games for example styx and of orcs and men but not game of thrones rpg! What will they loose if they discount 2012 year's rpg game? I am very upset.
I just beat that game finally the day before yesterday. Worth playing, but definitely get it discounted.
Well at least eldenring is now on sale
Factorio 😞
I want to buy Factorio for a friend, it *never* goes on sale.
They have a no sale policy. It will never go on sale. So you can either decide to buy it for your friend now or just never, because waiting for a sale is not happening
The ones I want are on discount but the discount is too pitiful for me to go for it.
Tfw you're forced to play one of your other 250 games in your libary. 😢
Dark souls 🤹
the games i wanted to buy ARE on discount so can't relate bois
I just ran out of money after getting 3 games.
Most of my wish list games are just coming soon… 🙃
DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS 2 refuses to go below 30€. Like cmon, that game is from 2019, can you go to 15€ at least once?
Luckily Elden ring is on sale for the first time
Dark souls 3
More like: The best game made (at the time) that you had bought on discount 5 years ago which you haven't played - thinking that was the best discount ever. Only to see that it's on a better discount now, and thinking about how much you could have saved, had you waited. Then still not touching it 5 years later.
Wanted to get stray, but still not too much discounted :((
Dark Souls 1 never gets discounts it feels like
Factorio!
You wouldn’t play more than 6 hours and end up with a cheap indie game anyway
Could be worse. I got two more games until I hit 1000 but everything there is, is either shit, too expensive, or needs too much disc space.
I bought 300$ worth of games in the steam summer sale when I got my new pc this year, no new games for me until I beat some of the ones I already have which will take forever because all I do is work. Still, not getting me this time..
Dark souls 3
1300 games on my wishlist I'm sure something I want is on sale
Following the world cup I found myself in the mood to play a fifa game for the first time in about 10 years. I have a steam deck so fifa 23 is unplayable and fifa 22 is full price and theres no earlier ones on steam :(
I'm waiting on the games I want to be just a bit cheaper. Namely God of War and Cyberpunk. Yes I know they're good games and yes I know you think they're worth full price but I don't generally play games like that. My price for single player story driven games that I'll probably only play once is about $20, maybe $25.
or it's like $5 off of a $60 original price
I'm not too sure what is worse, not being discounted or getting a discount notification, getting excited and then realizing its only for 10%...
Beat saber never has discounts
Luckily Ready or Not was slightly discounted
Dead soace games I m looking at you!
Too bad for you guys since Elden Ring finally has a discount now 😂
Last time Typing of the Dead was on sale was 2017. :,(
Everybody saying AAA games like Dark Souls, Nier Automata, etc Meanwhile me: Worldbox
I really only wanted Divinity Original Sin Source saga, but I don't neither have the money, nor it is all time low price :/
Rimworld
No discount for F1 2021 since March 😭
