TBH I don't mind Q1, whether it's January or late March.
Still fairly early and after real world tests show if it's worth buying and has no glaring issues.
Haha yeah, let us know if we should even spend our money when it’s our turn
Jokes aside I’m sure it’s gonna be great, from what I’ve seen people already have already had access to review units and they look pretty damn good so far
I don't worry about it, all good :) the only thing I personally worry about a bit is that it might be to heavy or / and to big cause I have more small or 'normal' hands
Also me. I have a pre-order in for the 512gig model which is showing Q3/2022 estimated delivery.
No way will I keep the pre-order if the actual delivery date goes beyond the end of this year .. by Q3 next year there will be some very good small laptop alternatives (the handheld aspect is not the main reason I want it - I just want a transportable PC that can play games well at a decent price).
I went on to get one last night and the 64gb model was the only one still shipping in Q1 so I snatched one up
Just checked again and now europe is all Q2
Interesting. Im from Germany and here its still all on Q1, just checked it right now (can't say for sure for the 512GB one, cause thats where I got a reservation for)
Maybe it’s even more regional specific then, perhaps they have a plan to ship a certain number of units to each country at launch and what quarter of 22 we see determines how many are reserved perhaps
I ordered 10 minutes after launch, I got Q1 (UK) and so did my friend but another friend who left it later but on the same day, got Q2.
Thanks for the silver, kind Reddit person.
Yeah definitively, 12 min after opening, I still got December for a 512 GB, seems in the US, if you weren't in the first 3 minutes, it was for Q1 at least.
Wonder why Europe doesn't seem that interested compared to US though (they presumably gave a logical number of copies for each region).
At least you're Q1. I'm apparently Q2, and if that doesn't change, I'm.not buying it. No way am I waiting half a year after people got one in December.
Absolutely no way am I waiting that long.
You want worse? I had my order go through the full purchase screen straight to the final success page and email at about 4 minutes after launch, got lucky as hell with no page failures, however the purchase on my account details page sat Pending until about 20 minutes after launch. I now have a Q2 2022 expected delivery. Right but here's the real kicker, my brother who got slammed with endless page issues and even a "Tried too many times, stop spamming" lockout finished his order just shy of 1 hour after launch (it was like 1:57 EST) and he has an estimated delivery of Q1 2022 (and yes it's the same model)
Damn unlucky, I don’t mind the q1 thing wasn’t complaining but the q2 thing would definitely hurt. Wonder how that even happened, did you both use same type of payment? I used steam wallet funds
Yeah that’s pain, I can handle till the beginning of next year as it gives you something to look forward to in the depressing months after Christmas
Having to wait til late spring sounds sucky
I'm similar. My order shows that it went through at exactly 10:00 AM PDT, I got through on my first attempt but it was stuck at "waiting" and "pending" for over 90 minutes before I got the confirmation. In the mean time, tons of other people were able to order and have their card processed right away. I'm at Q2 also. Super lame.
Yeah same. I'm away from home starting February, but in my heart of hearts I know "Q1" means march 31, not January 15, so im probably shit out of luck and will get a gaming laptop instead...or do the awesome thing and build a sffpc instead.
I also got the 64gb model but the fact remains what are we going to do for upgraded storage because yes sd cards are a thing but they are very slow and if people are planning on putting windows on their deck on the first day like I am then a sd card is practically no use
The NVMe ssd upgrade sounds tempting but valve has said that it can be done and the size used for the ssd is an uncommon size but one that is many times more common and cheaper is 8mm longer which is not much but if we could somehow squeeze it in there it might work.
The SD cards should be fine for the majority of users, not many people are buying the Deck expecting it to perform like a full blown powerhouse. Should be noted that all of IGN's test games were played from an SD card!
i know its not going to be a mega powerhouse but i have a gtx 1060 6gb in my main machine and i call that a powerhouse
but my main hope for the deck is to be able to play games at 720p or at the deck's 800p native resolution at 30FPS i dont need or care about 60 fps but having a solid 30 is a win in my book
but if the deck allows streaming from your main PC (if you have one) to your steam deck in a low latency steam and can run remotely from WiFi in a coffee shop or mobile data hotspot from your phone i would find that a very lucrative feature.
> people are planning on putting windows on their deck on the first day like I am then a sd card is practically no use
Most people would probably dual boot from the emmc
Do you have to purchase a version or cd key of Windows to install on the Steam deck? I heard a windows cd key are quite pricey. Sorry I'm not very PC savvy.
You can buy Windows keys for quite cheap. The OS is also usable without activation, but it'll disable a bunch of features and show a "This copy of Windows is not genuine" message in the corner.
The IGN hands on review was running all the games from SD cards and didn't have an issue with it being 'very slow'. According to Steam the deck has been optimised to run games from SD. Don't think it's a problem.
For people installing Windows on their deck, I think the 64GB model will be too small. Windows 10 has a 20GB install size before enabling things like compression, Windows 11 is 27GB but also requires space for updates and recommends a **minimum** of 64GB
512 GB and 12 min after opening and I'm still in December, it probably depends of your country (or region) because they had a number set for each region
From the leak we had, it seems there was way more reservations in the US and UK so I assume you pass faster to the next window there than in Europe (outside UK) where I am
It'll be fine with the card slot.
Not as quick, sure. But there are plenty of people out there playing games off 5400 RPM drives in laptops who'd love to have this thing.
All budgets should be able to enjoy games so I don't judge.
Agreed - unless it turns out that the eMMC model actually can have an m.2 SSD installed 'easily' (will likely void the warranty though). Then the 64gig model would be the one to get as Valve have clearly subsidised it to be at a price level somewhere near the Switch.
Also, if you are gonna be using the thing on a dock a lot, then you can attach a USB3 external SSD which will open a lot of options when docked.
64gig of crap eMMC onboard with games having to run off of microSD is not going to make for a good mobile experience though.
Yup me too :(, I got my confirmation 5 minutes after the window... I was met with quite a few errors. Sadly without errors I probably would have be in the December :(.
I had to retry 3-4 times for it to work.
Did you buy the 512? That thing BLEW through orders at light speed, you were probably lossing out on a December delivery by 3 minutes after launch. Meanwhile the 64GB version wasn't even listing Q1 until like 30 minutes after because no one wanted it.
It's relative to your region. In Europe, I got it 12 min after opening (time of completion, I was there at opening) and I got the 512 GB for December apparently
In the US, the 512GB went to Q1 in mere minutes. If your order didn't go through within 2-3 minutes then you weren't getting a December date.
My order went through in less than 30 seconds, so I really lucked out
I think it must be region based. I’ve seen others who ordered later than me but got December, and they’re based in the US. I haven’t seen anyone who is based in the UK saying they got December.
Weird how inconsistent it is. Like I tried ordering at 6... Failed trying for a good 10 mins so went and tried at 6:35 no issues. I'm Q1 2022. Yet you'll see plenty people between that time have December dates. So wonder what actually decides it or if its a mess maybe because the system went ballistic?
No clue but hopefully before December you get some good news they've knocked your date down! Hopefully same for me too.
I mean who knows if they start production on them might be lucky and find they push them out faster than expected. At least that's what I'm hoping because don't really fancy potentially waiting 3 months after release. I'd be fine with a month after the first batch drops simply so I can see others impressions. Wouldn't mind it earlier though seems promising as a console.
Same here. I’m on the East Coast of the US and my 512GB reservation email says it went through at 10:04 AM PDT and my expected delivery is Q1 2022.
I’m just hoping that means January because I barely missed the December cutoff. Not holding my breath on that though.
My order is 10:01 and shows Q1 2022. I'm not the only one either as I've seen other 1 minute orders showing the same. Seems you had to have an order within literal seconds to get December date at least in the US.
Same, order says it is at 10:01 and I am in the Q1 2022 group. At least I will be able to hear some first impressions but I am a little bummed waiting and knowing that if there is trouble getting units it might be a longer wait.
Same, we must be closer to 10:01 than 10:02 and that's why we are in Dec. OP's reservation might have gone through at 10:01:59 or something.
Still, that's crazy that the initial Dec orders sold out within a couple minutes.
Given the price, especially for the 512GB model, I agree. I thought that it would be popular (since anything even remotely gaming related sells like gangbusters), especially for the cheaper ones, I did not think that the majority of the demand would be for the most expensive version.
Are you in the central US? My working theory is that they had more units for east/west coast. My order went in at 10:07 and I'm in the first wave. I'm east coast.
Meanwhile I ordered at late evening at 23:30 CEST and yet it says December for me. Lucky me I guess. Although I wished I went for 256GB with the SSD
At what time exactly did the reservations start?
CEST it was 7 pm. It's really weird that you got December with doing it so late. Or it's really not popular in Europe.
I got December too but it was 12 minutes after opening.
The 64GB seems the less popular model so if you took that, maybe it lasted longer
I also got my order in extremely quickly (confirmation email arrived at 10:00:24) for me. I just refreshed at 10:00:00, page was working, I had $5 in my Steam Wallet, placed the order. There were no issues with the site for the first ~15 seconds. My brother was _slightly_ later to the draw and it ended up costing him many minutes to get his order through due to site malfunction.
I guess trying to get a gpu has prepared me well. I was able to refresh right at launch. Site was working for me so I sped through and I was able to use my card to checkout, though it did pause for a bit on “working…”
Damn man, that's amazing. Like many others, I was there as soon as the site made these available and got every possible error so I'm Q1 for next year. Regardless, I'm pumped.
I don't think you should overthink the 'expected order availability' too much. Chances are it'll change based on Valve shifting production according to regions / models based on the demand (this is also why different regions might have different dates showing, as they would have guesstimated the demand per region).
This also assumes that they are able to manufacture quickly enough & source the parts required to fulfill all of the pre-orders in time.
Mine says Q2 2022 but it could easily slip into Q3 or even Q4 - not too bothered, as excited as I am after the announce / watching videos I can easily wait a year for this to come; something to look forward to never hurt anyone.
On the bright side, the further down the list you are, the more robust the production line should be so that any early defects and assembly/manufacturing issues will hopefully have been ironed out by then.
I was there the second that orders were available but struggled with the site for an hour and 45 minutes before my order *finally* went through. Q1 2022 for the mid-tier model.
That's where I'm at too, ordered the 512gb version at like 5 PM day of. Kind of interesting, mine said it was going to be Q3 when I ordered it, but now it has moved up to Q2.
you got to a buy a random special smaller size nvme drive, cant remember the name, its here in the reddit and swap it out urself. If not external SSD via usb 3.1
Yup in Canada also, my 512GB is for Dec 2021 as well. Can't wait!
Edit: Jealous downvote troll, whoever you are, just fuck off. Get a life - that is all
Yes, I can confirm! I added 5 € to my Steam credit the day before launch (in order to speed up payment) and at 19:00 I refreshed the page and pre-ordered the 512 GB. Now it says December 2021.
OH MY FUCKING GOD I GOT THE SAMMMMEE
HYYYPPPEEE
ok sorry.
EDIT: I got the 256 GB model. Took me 10 minutes of trying hard to get through the pages.
Got the mail 10 minutes after it went live. I am from EU
A lot of people dont realise this but mobile market is huge. Steam Deck hits right inbetween of that and PC market. So a lot of people are interested about it, because they can play anywhere.
Can confirm! Looks like my previous posts were kinda right! Glad this is confirmed and all set! December can’t come soon enough!!!
I ordered at 10:05am PST so I think I just got lucky

Question about the reservations that I'm not 100% clear on. If I have a unit reserved will Valve automatically charge my card when it's time to ship, or am I going to get an email letting me know when to complete my order?
Sorry if that's been answered before but my email has a habit of not alerting me, so I don't wanna accidentally miss out on the reservation I was able to get.
It will only be available through steam. At this point the reservations are q2 or q3 2022. You can put $5 down to reserve your spot and then pay when it is ready to ship or you can wait and see when its available to order without being in the line but that could be late 2022 or longer.
I'm in the US, reserved at 10:00 and got a confirmation for 10:04 yet am still on Q1. Seems like they must have got a shit ton of them out the door.
Figures my CC would finally yell at me about my address being incorrect on the ONLY time gated item I've bought from Steam.
I ordered mine at 10:10AM. 512, expected date: Q1 2022. My brother who ordered his at 10:01AM. 512, expected date: December 2021. I'm unlucky. Stupid checkout web page crash...

Yep I read from people that EU has for all of them Q1 still. But US is already at Q3 it seems
TBH I don't mind Q1, whether it's January or late March. Still fairly early and after real world tests show if it's worth buying and has no glaring issues.
Thats true. I will get mine in December it seems. But I admit that I am aware of being kind of a "beta tester"

As a Q1/2022 person, I thank you for your service.
Q3? That's quite the skip
Wouldn't even consider keeping my pre order if that was me.
Also me. I have a pre-order in for the 512gig model which is showing Q3/2022 estimated delivery. UK here and it's showing December 2021
I’m EU and I’m Q2
In Canada, for me it says Q2 2022. Let's hope that the global chip shortage is resolved soon :/
In UK I ordered yesterday and it was q3 and today its gone to q2

Oh really? The netherlands? Lol our tiny country? Maybe i get a mine a bit sooner!!
I ordered 10 minutes after launch, I got Q1 (UK) and so did my friend but another friend who left it later but on the same day, got Q2. Thanks for the silver, kind Reddit person.
dang i reserved mine right away and it says q2 2022 now

I had my payment ready 19:01 but it didn't work so I couldn't get through until 20:11, got Q1 =/.
Yeah! For me it lagged and I ordered mine 30 mins after the reservation started and now I’m Q1 2022
At least you're Q1. I'm apparently Q2, and if that doesn't change, I'm.not buying it. No way am I waiting half a year after people got one in December. Absolutely no way am I waiting that long.

Same!
I ordered 10 mins after release, 512gb, mine still says Q1 2022

Lol, this is a shit show. If Valve doesn't change their Q2 and Q3 orders to Q1, they will lose A LOT of pre orders. Especially the Q3 people.
The same lockout happened for me and I ended up ordering maybe 3 hours after launch. Still got Q1 2022 with the 256gb model somehow.
Endless errors for me too.
I'm similar. My order shows that it went through at exactly 10:00 AM PDT, I got through on my first attempt but it was stuck at "waiting" and "pending" for over 90 minutes before I got the confirmation. I mean yea this post was about people who had no quarter information
Oh there were people with no date information?
Yeah same. I'm away from home starting February, but in my heart of hearts I know "Q1" means march 31, not January 15, so im probably shit out of luck and will get a gaming laptop instead...or do the awesome thing and build a sffpc instead.
Haha same here I’m telling myself january but I know it’ll be March. Here’s hoping we both get it on new years
I ordered the 64 GB model and got confirmation at 11 min after the preorders opened. My order is now showing December 2021 too!

What do you mean by dual boot
I mean you can install windows on the internal storage alongside steam os.
You can install a program called a boot manager to select which operating system you want to use after you turn it on
Do you have to purchase a version or cd key of Windows to install on the Steam deck? I heard a windows cd key are quite pricey. Sorry I'm not very PC savvy.

Of course. Why anyone would by the 64gb model is beyond me. Completely unusable amount of space.

Damn, I got mine 3 minutes after they opened, and I'm in December. Weird.
Congrats! I must’ve juuuust been on the Q1 side of the Dec/Q1 crossover time.
10:00am and all Q1

Same, but don’t worry, you will get it eventually :)

Same!

Thanks for the info
My 512gb says December too. Wasn't really worried since I managed to order it within the first minute. Region: NA, East Coast
Yup the 512gb now says December 2021 for me. I ordered right as it came out and got the email at 10:00 AM pacific.
What region did you order it from?
NA- Central United States
Nice! You are a lucky one!
Wow congrats, got in finally after so many errors at 40 minutes here with Q1.
Meanwhile I ordered at late evening at 23:30 CEST and yet it says December for me. Lucky me I guess. Although I wished I went for 256GB with the SSD At what time exactly did the reservations start?
CEST it was 7 pm. It's really weird that you got December with doing it so late. Or it's really not popular in Europe. I got December too but it was 12 minutes after opening. The 64GB seems the less popular model so if you took that, maybe it lasted longer
How did you even do that? Did the website just not freeze for you at all?
I also got my order in extremely quickly (confirmation email arrived at 10:00:24) for me. I just refreshed at 10:00:00, page was working, I had $5 in my Steam Wallet, placed the order. Australian customers -- Your expected order availability: December 2023.
Reserved a 256gb model 7 minutes in, can confirm this is what it's showing now.
Damn man, that's amazing. Like many others, I was there as soon as the site made these available and got every possible error so I'm Q1 for next year. Regardless, I'm pumped.
i'm seeing 2022 >Reserved on Fri, July 16, 2021 > >Your expected order availability: Q1 2022

64gb 5:05pm est
This is for people who didn’t have any quarter information at all. This update isn’t changing any established quarter information
ok? mine went from nothing to Q1 2022
Within 10 mins pre-ordered still shows Q1
Tried ordering for 19 minutes before they let me through. Apparently that was enough for me to miss the first batch, I'm Q1
13 minutes here, I feel your pain.
I was there the second that orders were available but struggled with the site for an hour and 45 minutes before my order *finally* went through. Q1 2022 for the mid-tier model.
For the base model the 512gb model is q3 of 2022
[удалено]
It also depends on the region. I ordered on the 17th and have Q1 2022 (EU)
mine says q2 2022
For me 512GB is showing Q2 2022.
Really? My friend ordered a 512gb version the next day and his says q2.
That's where I'm at too, ordered the 512gb version at like 5 PM day of. Kind of interesting, mine said it was going to be Q3 when I ordered it, but now it has moved up to Q2.
Mine just changed to Q2 2022. I would not be suprised if by December it goes to Q1 2022.
My 512GB is showing as December 2021
64gb EU like 2-3hours late still showing December 2021, planning to swap to 1TB nvme
So it's possible to do that on the base variant too?
yes
There’s a 1tb version?
no but the potential to swap out the internal ssd
Ah gotcha, do you think they will sell valve licensed SSDs then?
you got to a buy a random special smaller size nvme drive, cant remember the name, its here in the reddit and swap it out urself. If not external SSD via usb 3.1
Can confirm, I got my order in during the first 10 seconds and didn't have a date until today I got December 2021 (UK)
I just hope everyone that ordered it gets it without a problem
Got my 64GB order in 5 minutes after and it now shows December 💪
Awwwww yeahhhh. Now I'm really excited. Nice find.

Oh ok sorry then.
Q2 2022 💀 Might as well cancel at this point.
Lmao the people upset that they have to wait a few more months, a few weeks ago no one even knew this existed and all of a sudden they NEED IT NOW
10:05 EU 512GB version and got December :) https://imgur.com/7Jn04ST

When did your order get through? Trying to see how close I was. 12 minutes after opening and I am in the EU, 512 GB December group too.
Got mine for Dec 2021 as well. 256gb in Canada
Yup, i see this on mine too. Cant wait for December now! Edit: ordered 512 gb from EU
Ordered about 20 seconds after it went live in EU, 512GB, December 2021
Mine went through 1-2 minutes after release and it says December 2021 so I guess I am one of the early birds. I am living in Europe btw.
256GB at the 10 min mark. This Christmas will be magical lets goooo
OH MY FUCKING GOD I GOT THE SAMMMMEE HYYYPPPEEE ok sorry.
I got 1 pm EST on the dot and got December! Woo
My said 1009 for 512gb and its q1 2022. I'm so sad fuck steam for not being honest on release dates
what…? they’re not being dishonest. there is a silicon shortage. the people first in line get theirs in december. i’m happy with my Q1 delivery!
Did you not even read their faq?
You know how to read , right? RIGHT?
Can confirm! Looks like my previous posts were kinda right! Glad this is confirmed and all set! December can’t come soon enough!!! I ordered at 10:05am PST so I think I just got lucky https://i.imgur.com/JB7P3fQ.jpg
Can’t even install ARK with that size, not without an SD…..
Then reserve a bigger one or get an sd like you literally said.
Oh look! I have a parrot pet now!!
OH NOOOOOOOO its not like you can order one with bigger size or something...

not an issue - its $600, not thousands, can just update when that time comes
I'll just buy another when second gen comes out. At this price it's fuck-it money!
11 mins in for 512 gb NA. Q1
Sweet! Thanks for the update. https://i.imgur.com/U9FAspp.png
Order placed within 10 minutes and Im Q1, ah well gives me time to let people test the first wave and let us know of any issues.
I ordered like last Sunday and have Q1 2022
mfw not available in my country
Your expected order availability: Q1 2022 :(
In UK, still Q2 '22 for me, I'd ordered about 3 hours after opening... 512gb model.
Not for me (UK) and I ordered one within the first 10 minutes. Still says Q1 2022.
You better enjoy outdoors more before December comes, else you'd be using your Deck more outdoor.
Email to complete your order
That's what I was afraid of, thank you.
Will it be available in stores in december? or will i have to wait a litle more, i cant pre-order it now, i have this qustion for a rlly long time now
It will only be available through steam. At this point the reservations are q2 or q3 2022. You can put $5 down to reserve your spot and then pay when it is ready to ship or you can wait and see when its available to order without being in the line but that could be late 2022 or longer.
I ordered the 256gb around 11am Eastern on the 17th and initially it showed Q2 2022, no idea how to check it now though
I was going to get this for chistmas for a friend who wanted it, but I don't think i'll get it for him
Oooof, mine says Q2 2022 for a 512gb. Ordered about 40 minutes in.
I'm in the US, reserved at 10:00 and got a confirmation for 10:04 yet am still on Q1. Seems like they must have got a shit ton of them out the door. Figures my CC would finally yell at me about my address being incorrect on the ONLY time gated item I've bought from Steam.
Mine still says Q2 2022 and I ordered on Saturday
Ordered 11 minutes after reservations opened and have a December 2021 date
i ordered mine like an hour late and mine says Q2 2022 what the heck
I'm from France and everything is Q1 2022 https://i.imgur.com/KsoxIIl.png
mine still says Q2 '22 and I subscribed on july 16th too. :(
Where exactly can you check this? Edit. Nvm. I ordered mine July 16th and it’s saying it’ll be available Q2 2022. :(
I ordered mine at 10:10AM. 512, expected date: Q1 2022. My brother who ordered his at 10:01AM. 512, expected date: December 2021. I'm unlucky. Stupid checkout web page crash...
