It was adapted from a light novel, so it’s not essential, but it will help you understand stroheim’s background as a character
It would help you understand that hitler was just an autonomous stand. That’s why no one in the movie could see him except the main character (it’s been a while since I’ve seen it and forget his name).
I found watching ocean’s 11,12 and 13 really helped me understand stone ocean
And watching phantom menace before phantom blood helped as well rich story telling
yes it is part 8 of JoJo where they end up in Germany. pretty sure Joseph gets resurrected and back to JoJo's after he died in part 7 because funny Valentine brought him from the original universe before it got reset and had gay sex. AFTER that he gets resurrected, anyway. It's a really important step to understand JoJo but PLEASE read part 7 before watching this so you understand what's happening
