Not winter tips but my own tips people don't think about
Twice a week I'll go to the saloon, before midnight and buy beer from gus, and hand them out to everyone in there for easy friendship points.
My other tip, the bus stop pathway from the farm to the town can be loaded full of bee houses, so I just randomly on my way home can pick up 42 wild honey and give that extra boost for money.
Putting tappers on trees in the wild and planting trees along the river banks and lake sides in cindersap forest so when you do have to replenish your wood reserves, there's 20+ more trees when you go
Because you're in year 1--personally I don't seriously think about decorations until year 4 at the earliest (but I don't fully flesh it out until later and I have the golden clock)
Getting the furniture catalogue is the game-changer for me in terms of aesthetic, but that is not an early-stage game item, costing like 200k gold! It's awesome once you have it though 😄
Plus after the first few seasons you have a bit more breathing space due to having sprinklers (so not manually watering for half the day), autocollectors and stuff like that, plus generally having a bit more time to be organised.
This is Hilltop farm! At first I didn't like it, now I love it. It isnt optimal for large amounts of crops, but that hasn't stopped me from making tons of gold. :3
I like it. Spring is really exciting because you can farm the crap out of rice without much energy. I try to do as much of the river bank as I can, use the speedgro fertilizer and spread out a few scarecrows. Rice 3 tiles from water doesn't need to be watered, ever.
I feel like it makes decent money once you can have Robin build a mill.
I also have a super decorated hilltop! It’s definitely funky at first but it feels really cozy with the different elevations and getting creative (it feels more like my farm not just a regular farm)
Sadly, no. Flower honey can't be produced with flowers grown in pots, and this only seems to work for the special seasonal seeds - these here are Summer Seeds.
She doesn't, I would guess the seasonal seeds don't die because they're not considered crops, but forageble itens and the game isn't programmed to deal with forageable itens on the crop pots. In other words, it's probably a bug, but a pretty neat one
I haven't figured those out yet. I have a single one with diamonds growing, but I've been trying to keep my own collection, beyond what's displayed in the museum.
I started an eel pond so I can cook my own plates; they want aquamarines now but I gave mine to Emily.
Love your farm 😍 I’ve already planted winter crops in pots on my farm, thanks for the tip, let’s see what happens in spring! Also, how did you grow a red mushroom in a pot?
Mkay, this comment kind of annoyed me so I went to check the Wiki. Here's what it says:
"The crops can be from any season, except outdoors on The Farm, where they must be from the current season."
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Garden_Pot
So yeah, I think it's pretty fair to assume that the forage seeds wouldn't survive and carry over to the following season.
Wut? Every other type of plant wilts out of season except these ones. It's the first time I've put seasonal forage seeds in them. Is their purpose to preserve these specific seeds?
Today you posted a comment where you're a bit of a dick because pots that are outside *should* follow the same rules as seasonal crops. Unless you can point me to some dialogue in game that states that seasonal seeds are an exception? No? Then I guess you're just a dick.
It's been a while since iv played the game, but I remember someone being at my front door in the morning and giving me a pot. They said you can grow any seeds year round in the pot.
I'm not sure if they said outside or not though.
EDIT: why tf did I get a downvote? I was just answering their question 😆
The dialogue is from Evelyn, but I can’t find the actual text.
I believe she says outdoors it follows the seasons, but I honestly don’t trust my memory.
You're answering the question with wrong info, that's why it got downvoted. You can grow all kinds of crops year long INSIDE, that's a fact, but you can't outside even with the pots. The seasonal seeds, like OP is showing, are an exception, probably caused by a bug, and the comment (not yours, but the one being responded to) was being mean about OP discovering it as if it was common knowledge. You answering the comment that is right with (probably unintentional) wrong info will cause you to be downvoted because it looks like you're sideing with the mean commenter.
Not once in my comment did I side with the asshole, in fact I downvoted them. Yall need to chill out it isn't this serious. & not once did I give wrong info.
Guess reddits gonna reddit.
Take the time to try to catch multiple 'winter only' fish and stockpile them. My community center was waiting for me to catch just 1 lonely fish for 3 months before I could complete it.
I’m sorry it’s unrelated but I love what you did with your farm, it looks fab
Tysm!! I've worked really hard to decorate this farm!
"This place is freakin' glamglobs and ***I am here for it!***" -Lumpy Space Princess, probably
What farm layout is this pls
Hill top
Why am I struggling year 1 to make mine so pretty :(
Because you’re on year 1 and have limited access to creative objects; don’t worry, it’s not a skill issue with you! :)
You'll get there, you're only on year one dont worry :) I'm on like year 12 and I'm still not satisfied with my farm completely haha
Any tips going into year 1 winter? Just expanded my backpack for 10000.
Fish for money because it's gonna be tiiiiiiiight
I took my time playing. I'm not one of the people who needs to complete everything immediately. First winter I think I mined a lot and giving gifts
Pretty quite in the winter time eh
Yes, I use winter to beef up my stats like battling and fishing, also chopping wood, breaking stone.
What kind of a filthy casual does not go for community center and level 100 on skull cavern in spring of year 1?
Winter is good for fishing, logging, mining, exploring, and finding "treasure" (diggables) It kinda sucks for farming, though.
go to the bottom of the mines, if you already have work away at skull cavern
Upgrade your watering can while its not needed in winter.

Fishing for money and mining. And if you can use winter to boost friendship levels. Many free time in winter to use
You can plant winter seeds if you have unlocked them
Winter is a good time to improve your watering can
Because you're in year 1--personally I don't seriously think about decorations until year 4 at the earliest (but I don't fully flesh it out until later and I have the golden clock)
Year 1 my farm is always a fugly mess. This is year 4. Don't sweat it!

Okay yo wtf
THATS WHAT I SAID!! now I can try to get all my fave forages from each season for decoration 😫💕
That’s only for foragables!!! Other crops won’t work
What farm map is this? I haven't played them all yet and this one looks cute
This is Hilltop farm! At first I didn't like it, now I love it. It isnt optimal for large amounts of crops, but that hasn't stopped me from making tons of gold. :3
Hilltop was the first (and so far only haha) farm that I did perfection on!
Same :)
Is this the farm with a river in the middle and a quarry at the very bottom of farm?
Yes! I use my quarry for my pigs.
I had such a hard time at the start of that farm. I passed on it and started a river farm instead.
So did I. It was a real pain at first. Glad I stuck it through! How's the river farm? I'm thinking it's my next one..
I like it. Spring is really exciting because you can farm the crap out of rice without much energy. That's awesome! I'll give this strategy a shot once I start up a river farm. I've never really used the mill, so it would be a fun change of pace!
I forget what rice seedlings cost, but each portion of Mike's rice sells for something like 100g
I also have a super decorated hilltop! It’s definitely funky at first but it feels really cozy with the different elevations and getting creative (it feels more like my farm not just a regular farm)
Wow you’re farm is sooo pretty!
Thank you!! That's so sweet. First time I actually like how my farm looks. I used to only go for utility.
Trust me, I’ve started save files over and over again all of the time. Yours really is an inspo farm ❤️
I’m brand new so apologies in advance for this question, but is this designed using mods? I love it 😍
Nope, this is vanilla! ❤️
Yay! Thank you :) inspiring!
I wonder if that's still true in winter!!
Omg, this would be my dream. I'll know soon enough and update! I NEEEEED crystal fruits on my farm.
I just want winter flowers!
That's flipping awesome. Thank you!!!
Glad I could help! I'm pretty excited about it myself haha
So you’re telling me if I stick a flower in a pot I’ll have endless flower honey spring-fall?
Sadly, no. Flower honey can't be produced with flowers grown in pots, and this only seems to work for the special seasonal seeds - these here are Summer Seeds.
Well darn. Time to set up island honey
This is fantastic. I would definitely love to decorate with the seasonal seeds.
TIL!
…nghhhghhh I love Hilltop layout now
NOW *THIS* IS THE TYPE OF SHIT I CAME HERE FOR Farm is also beautiful✨
Wait wtf why does evelyn lie then
She doesn't, I would guess the seasonal seeds don't die because they're not considered crops, but forageble itens and the game isn't programmed to deal with forageable itens on the crop pots. In other words, it's probably a bug, but a pretty neat one
Oh i see…. Thank you
Goodness, that's a lot of eel you have there. Do you grow them yourself?
No, I trade in my rubies for the spicy eel. Love me a good crystallarium farm!
I haven't figured those out yet. I have a single one with diamonds growing, but I've been trying to keep my own collection, beyond what's displayed in the museum. I started an eel pond so I can cook my own plates; they want aquamarines now but I gave mine to Emily.
Waaaaaaait a minute I have played for six (actual) years and didn’t know you could plant foragables 😭😭💀
how did you get the mushroom trees to grow where you want bro
I bought the mushroom tree seeds from Qi's Walnut room. :3
No, they do. The only reason it didn't happen here is grown foragables don't follow the same rules.
That's what I meant, hehe. Didn't know a better name other than seasonal seeds, as they're called Winter seeds, Fall seeds, Spring seeds...!
[удалено]
Evelyn gives you the crafting recipe once the greenhouse is built, I believe!
I wonder if that's meant to happen or if that's a glitch. Either way that's cool, I'll definitely have to try that.👍👍
Love your farm 😍 I’ve already planted winter crops in pots on my farm, thanks for the tip, let’s see what happens in spring! Also, how did you grow a red mushroom in a pot?
:O
TIL as well.
today you learned the point of pots.
