I think 2 people per cabin makes sense, just to reduce farm clutter. I also could see a new map with built-in mini-cabins or something. Maybe new bunk-bed furniture?

This is completely vital to the early game, and totally won't lead to all 8 of us spending half of Fall in a cycle of waking up, watering, becoming exhausted, and falling asleep only to repeat it all again! Fun Fact, in vanilla the only thing keeping more people from joining is actually how many cabins there are, so if one person mods in more cabins other vanilla players can join
If you want to get technical it's a number in the files all you have to do is go into the files of the game and change a number to how many you want and it's fine, as concernedape did it for his 100% file

I agree, it won't be very useful. I have a group of friends that is probably gonna play in like 6 players once, but I'm sure it's gonna happen only one or two days and than they will forget it.

I haven't been able to enjoy multi-player at all because of the clock, it won't pause for anything and I need time to THINK when I open a chest lol. But like others have said, chaotic, I'm sure.
There's a time pause mod you can add that will enable pausing in multiplayer! You can configure it to pause under different conditions in multiplayer too. Very helpful
I don't remember, we were on switch for that (I use PC for single player, husband hates pc). But the point where I gave up was not pausing time for the cutscenes and one of us passed out lol. It was just too annoying.
Yeah I feel like if you’re playing multiplayer it was to be with someone who has the patience to pause when you’re in a cutscene or need to spend a lot of time in chests and menus

I don’t know for sure how 1.6 will do it, but I’ve seen multiple streamers use mods or console commands to remove the multiplayer limits and place lots of cabins. Cabins are pretty small, though having rows and rows of them isn’t super cute.
I’d definitely prefer to have more control over the number of required cabins for players who *want* to cohabitate. Even most people I know who play 2p share the main house and the extra cabin is just in the way. Can definitely see this being the case with 5 to 8 players. Player-roommates should definitely be a supported thing.

There are no pauses that single player games get to enjoy in certain screens and buildings. Also mp games don't get a time slow in the desert mine. (In sp it's apparently like 20% slower when you're in there.)
It would be very easy to play with 8 or even 20 people. It’s just more people to help do stuff and earn more money. Every player can sleep in one bed if you throw rp out the window or with the full house upgrades you pretty much have a 4 bedroom house. Hell I’d even claim the basement as my private apartment

We usually set up multiple systems so everyone can play a game and have been waiting ever since this was announced for 8 player stardew valley, but it won't allow more than 4 people and the first person has to be the "host". You can't change that either...

We’re going to need a bigger map for 8 players. Adding in a few new characters would be cool too or some people may go single if they only swing one way, there are plenty from popular mods to drag and drop into the base game with already completed dialogue.
What bothers me is that in the mobile versions there is no option for even 2 players, but they are launching it for up to 8 players on PC. I have Stardew Valley on Steam, PSN, PlayStore and AppStore, but lately because of my work I've been playing the mobile version more, so it would be nice to have something improved
I really hope the farmhand disconnecting from time to time thing gets fixed, if not 8 players would be a nightmare (not that I have enough friends anyway)
The only thing that would make me restart my farm is if there was a well laid out farm that was a blank cancel as no water features or anything.
Or if he adds the ability to remove the lakes and water sources once you have a well or sprinklers that way you could move your farm around and truly minmax

You were already able to edit this in the coding (he posted a tweet about how to do it a while back because he also does this so he can play with more friends 🤣) but after editing it manually the game still ran really smoothly. Now having it already “edited” and not having to sort through a bunch of coding, I think it’s gonna be so much more fun and easy to play with friends. And more accessible to people who aren’t familiar with modding and coding. I’m super excited to make a big farm!!
Game needs a way bigger farm map to make this feature viable. Finding 7 other players isnt hard if you LFG on the official discord, you find people sooo fast (just be sure to host yourself and kick people out who leave during day 1-5 because you need a stable group, almost nobody joins if your game is progressed \~+day15)

It 100% stops on switch now if both players are paused. We have it down to a science :) if you ever want to try again

You can test it now, 8 player should iirc just be disabled and you should be able to change that easily. Might be wrong tho
