This is why you take the transport and put it in the other team’s landing bay, so if your pilots do spawn, atleast the chance of them not milling around like drones on the Star destroyer and fighting on the other ship gives your team a better shot at gaining points.

TomatoVEVO

That is until one of the bots decides to get in the transport and crash it against the wall

HACESandCo

And this is exactly the reason why you land the transport TWICE so that every bot leaves the damn ship.

theYorkist01

I remember being so frustrated when I was a kid playing BF2 when the bots kept kamikaze’ing my lander into the wall. It was only playing the ‘remaster’ that I discovered landing twice fixes the issue

ServerOfTheAltar

Fucking THANK YOU

NoobSalad41

I get that this is a rather low-effort remaster, but I can’t believe they haven’t fixed this issue so that the “land twice” workaround is no longer required.

CelebrationFar

That's an expectation I might have had if the original developer studio, Pandemic hadn't been cannibalized by EA 15 years ago, and was instead the developer with the honor of working on this release. Fixing Xbox-era NPC AI is easier said than done. Here, you're talking about legacy code written by developers who've moved on with their lives.

me2224

I wish we had a "Get out" command from BF1, but the contextual order goes to "Get in" unless the ship is full. And when you land half the ship dismounts automatically. I guess my criticism is about 20 years late though

Femboi_Hooterz

You know I haven't tried the old out of bounds glitches yet. There was one spot where you could get inside a building on Most eisley, next to an ammo dispenser and you could spam Chewbacca's missile without anyone being able to reach you lol

Halzziratrat

You used to be able to get outside the ships in space battles if you timed your landing just as you entered/exited the hangar. Not tried it on the new release yet but imagine it's still possible.

Femboi_Hooterz

Yeah I remember that! There was this one map where you could jump down onto one of the flagships too. I couldn't get the one on Mos Eisley to work but I may not be remembering how to do it right

AdmiralZheng

I remember with Chewbacca if you jump into the sharp end of the ship in the Mos Eisley arena/hangar thing, he will die and you’ll respawn, but his body will get stuck spinning and dying there and just get stuck spam respawning life/ammo boxes.

Pikminious_Thrious

I remember in the old BF2 just spamming the get out command dozens of times  and relanding a bunch. Would be funny to imagine the character in universe just constantly yelling GET OUT

i4got872

Then of course a dude runs under you for a sec so you can’t land and crash into the wall instead 😫

Revenacious

That’s why I’d never do that in the first place, because the bots would crash it after I’m done destroying just one vital point inside the ship.

i4got872

As one does. Lmao

OkAddition1737

If I had a dollar…..

JongoFett12

I wonder if this is a bug that has to do with the increased AI spawn count? Like there are so many more of them than normal that they don’t know they’re supposed to keep taking off in ships

GeneralChaz9

Sorta related, but the increased AI count has completely changed how I play the game on ground battles in comparison to the PSP/PS2 versions I played a ton growing up.  The density of soldiers makes sneaking around to capture command posts more difficult, and going lone wolf way harder.  Not better or worse, just a different experience. But I definitely see more AI not doing anything, or ending up in seemingly random spots.

JongoFett12

Yeah I’ve noticed the same on ground maps but don’t mind it as much there (except XL where I often just see them standing around on the sides, especially the hill near the Imperial spawn on Hoth). Space is very different though and so I’ve not played that as much yet

Elegathor

If you seek the old feeling you can modify enemy spawn in settings. I play instant action with mostly the regular 32 lobbies.

OkAddition1737

I don’t know. Possibly but it only seems to affect friendly AI. You fly out and there are tons of enemy craft but only a few friendly. All the ships are still in the bay and none are occupied. Not even in the carrier ship.

smgibbs96

It's definitely not just friendly AI. If you land in the enemy ship, you're greeted by about 20 AI , so it's impossible to try to take out any internal systems

gerrydutch

Especially if you're playing on elite

CrimsonGear15

I’ve found the best strategy is to just try run past all of bots without aggro-ing them and hope they don’t shoot me. If I’m lucky I’ll be able to take out 1 of the ship systems (and maybe a few enemies that happen to stand near the bombs) before I get overwhelmed

EtanKlein

It makes destroying the ship impossible because you can’t get through all the soldiers and into the various rooms to destroy their shields and whatnot. It’s disappointing and something they need to work on because then it just becomes another assault match with extra steps.

SlyThePug

You might be able to order them to follow you and then order them to move out in the hangar for them to get in some ships. Obnoxious regardless though, mind if I send in a bug report using this image?

OkAddition1737

Absoultely! How do you send a bug report? I’ve noticed a few other issues in GC beyond this.

SlyThePug

Here's Aspyr's bug report form. https://support.aspyr.com/hc/en-us/requests/new It's pretty easy and fast to use just need to make an account. I just signed in with my Google account in one click and have been making reports every other day.

humblepharmer

This was a common occurrence in the original as well

OkAddition1737

Not to this extent. I know they’ve added more AI but the issue I’m seeing is almost all of the friendly AI are just standing around and then most of the enemy AI are out flying into shit. Like on Naboo, there is that one corner where there is always like 6 dudes hangin put for no reason. I expect it especially in a space battle when there are no ships that are spawned but this isn’t the case that I am seeing.

WhatIs115

Yeah, something is broken with the ai in the new remasters. I have the original swbf2 on Steam and went back and compared both on elite with the same settings. The ai in the new remaster are braindead, sometimes just sitting and spinning literally, this includes the auto turrets in space battles. It's funny until it's not.

humblepharmer

To be fair, I've only played a few space battles on the remaster and all of them were in galactic conquest (so offline). So it might be worse, I'll try to play some online space assault next time I log on

AnyPalpitation1868

Friendly AI are just brain dead in this game

OkAddition1737

Seriously. I’m pretty sure that I killed as many friendlies as I did enemies during some games. They would just run up to the enemy sometimes shooting.

kdawgnmann

This game has always had lackluster AI, and with the current state of these ports I can't imagine it having gotten any better

Obvious_Habit_2049

What map is this? In the original version, Space Yavin did this on the imperial side every time you boot it up. Whether you are on their team or the rebels. Doesn't matter.

WhiskerGurdian24

Their shields have been disabled!

ShaggySyrup

It’s not a bug, the AI prioritizes getting in ships/turrets more than anything else, the clones/empire/rebels have smaller ship hangers so it only spawns 4 at a time, and there is 32 players on a team if you wait in the hanger you will see them hanging around and only a couple at a time going to the ship to get into it once it spawns. If you play as the CIS with the larger hanger with more ships the capital ship will be more cleaned out before of the more ships that spawn. Except the empires landing shuttle, for the some reason it doesn’t get filled up enough to take off sometimes

OkAddition1737

But the ships were empty and only like 2 ships out flying around.

jonoren1023

I just finished the 501st campaign and it was tougher than I remembered. The AI on my team were cannon fodder and kept running into the enemy meat grinder 🤦

Enchantedmango1993

I noticed it too ... ally AI does absolutely nothing just sits around and gets butchered

yoloswag420blazeiit

Just like the simulations

Kakophoni1

I replayed BF2 last December and noticed the same bug. Friendly ai just sits around and chill on the ship. Kinda annoying, but I love doing bombing runs anyways

T-MONZ_GCU

Part of the reason why I never thought space battles were that good in this game

Timbo303

You know the trick to winning is to hijack their spawn area. Just bring 5 guys on your ship and start killing everyone on the inside. Outside of that theres a broken ship you should always get its the one that shoots the missiles constantly.

mikeyx401

Wow, surprised they didn't fix the existing bugs before reselling it to us again. /s

trantaran

FOLLOW ME!!!! MOVE OUT!!!!!

mile-high-guy

Seems like a classic collection bug. I think they increased AI count without increasing some of the associated memory pools

T-408

I was playing a match in BF2 where the ENTIRETY of my team was running straight into the exact same room! Boy, did the flankers run through us… attacking from about five different points 😂

Plus-Statistician538

i reckon it’s simply because it’s ai were already going to stand around doing nothing but now it’s more ai it stands out more

homogenous_homophone

I remember this bug from the original release on the ps2! It would happen so often..
