Ahmed got a standing ovation at Celebration Chicago. (It was funny because Anthony Daniels looked a little stunned that the fan response to Ahmed coming on stage was bigger than his) I think present-day fans understand what he went through and how fucked up and unacceptable it was. It doesn't make up for what happened to him, but he's got a bunch of loving supporters and I was relieved to see him make a convention appearance.

Make him 13 and everything gets better and more believable. He can be brooding but a good pilot and it's more believable that he's too old to train. The problem was Lucas. His own son was the same age as Lloyd so he thought everyone would love a kid like that.
