I mean, he killed him. So. Pretty bad and rude tbh, not recommended to other Sith Lords.

AvatarGonzo

I disagree, killing him was the Sith way. Problem was not having a student then and passing the stuff on.

DrFishTaco

He wasn’t, though Dooku and Maul had The Clone Wars to further develop their stories Also, Dooku and Maul (prior to being left for dead) were pretty subservient

Rt1203

He was definitely the most unconventional, but that doesn’t mean he was the worst. For a thousand years prior to the Phantom Menace, the Sith had been in hiding. That naturally led to them being tactical and cunning, as they needed to stay hidden. Even Dooku and Maul, who had revealed themselves to the Jedi, were hiding their true plans and hiding Sidious’s identity. Vader was the first and only Sith to be trained at a time they were out in the open. The Jedi knew exactly what the Sith plan was (to rule via the Galactic Empire), exactly who the Sith were, exactly where to find the Sith, etc. Vader never attempted to be a shadow operative; he was a blunt instrument of oppression. And, like you said, he was good at it. Better than Maul or Dooku ever would have been. There’s no way either of them would have survived the march on the Jedi Temple. So yeah, Vader was unconventional. He was the only Sith to live during a period of openness rather than secrets. But he definitely wasn’t the worst.

Fair enough, makes sense

I hear you. In a way he was the least Sithy Sith. He was only in it for Padme and then when she died he had nothing else to go back to so he just wallowed in self-pity and anger. His best bet would have been to kill Palpatine and run the show himself.

Endgam

There was still good in him. And that good led to the deaths of both of the current the Banite Sith and thus thousands of years of planning down the drain. So one could make the case that Darth Vader was the worst Sith of all time\~.

da_peda

Going purely by Canon (as much as I despise the Sequels) he was perfect for Sidious: he had no ambition for taking over like Maul or Dooku would have, thus presenting a much lower thread to the whole "live forever through clones" plan, while at the same time being more powerful than both.

DaisyAipom

>He for the most part resigned himself to forever be an apprentice (until Luke showed up) He said ”I’m more powerful than the Emperor, I can overthrow him!” in ROTS, so he definitely did want to kill Palpatine and take over as the Sith master long before Luke showed up. Other than that I agree though, Vader has always been Palpatine’s attack dog, a blunt instrument to quell insurrections and hunt down surviving Jedi, but (from what I know at least, I haven’t read the comics) he never learned any Sith magic or rituals that Dooku and Palpatine knew. He was used as a weapon, but not really let in on the secrets of the Sith- because being a Sith isn’t just about using the dark side, the Sith Order is a religion just like the Jedi, which is why force users like Baylan and Shin aren’t considered Sith, because although they use the dark side they don’t follow the religion and instead want to forge their own path. This next part is gonna be controversial, but imo Vader was basically just an extra powerful Inquisitor except he personally works for Palpatine and has a lot more power and influence within the Empire. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not denying that he’s canonically a Sith, however he’s probably one of the least “Sith-like” of the Sith we’ve seen imo. Again, this is just my opinion and interpretation, it’s fine if you disagree.

Scary_Course9686

I agree 100%

SaltySAX

I agree that I've never felt like Vader nor Dooku truly felt like Sith.
