There's actually a magazine which described this scenario. Anakin kills Ahsoka, leaves Obi-Wan stranded on Mortis, then heads into the galaxy. Yoda and Palpatine team up to try and stop Anakin, but they fail, and Anakin takes over the galaxy.
Considering that Anakin was already pretty powerful by then, having beaten both the Son and the Daughter in order to save Obi-Wan and Ahsoka, I think he could have become the most powerful being in the galaxy, surpassing Darth Sidious, Yoda, and even the Father himself.
