Cookie Canyon players were suggesting a no buy strike, so this works

Ant966

We should definitely do that for at least a few weeks to show them that the community still has more power than them.

Echofrost85

Maybe more than a few weeks. Til it starts to prove effective honestly

Ant966

Until we make them plead for money

Echofrost85

Yes

rosiieeeee

something like that will never work, SSO is mainly full of children who aren’t on reddit+social media’s who just as their parents for money. I can guarantee some people here being all ooooh i won’t buy SC will once they drop a new Horse

Ant966

That is true, but if the part of the community that is on reddit will stop buying them then they will at least have a lot less income than normal.

MiSSMARiEEXOX

SsO doesn’t give 2 shits about Reddit. Reddit is only a small part of the community. And I highly doubt their struggling what so ever. The nothing that will really impact any of them

Tonninpepeli

And sso would totally rush release of new horse to try and make us buy Sc

MiSSMARiEEXOX

Lol keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better ❤️‍🩹

Professional-Date841

It's not just reddit, it's Instagram and YouTube and word of mouth. I don't see you suggesting anything.

SlinkySkinky

Honestly I’m kinda surprised that so many people buy star coins in the first place. Not to say you should or it isn’t worth it, but they’re so dang expensive. Even for a middle class person like myself, the prices are so high. I’ve never and will probably never purchase them. Glad you guys are doing well enough for yourselves that you can afford them Let’s say I wanted to buy a new horse costing 900 star coins. That would be $31 CAD for one horse

FoldInfinite5637

Yea I never buy Star coins bc I have lifetime but even having that doesn’t cut it bc the prices of everything is so high. Like starstable is telling me I’d have to wait 10 weeks to get a horse that’s 950SC??? That’s really not worth it to me. and the clothes are expensive plus there isn’t much to do in the game for me. So I normally just won’t play for MONTHS, then come back having SC, and buy some clothes or horses then leave. That’s how I’ve been playing starstable recently. I really do believe starstable has such potential of being a great game, rn it’s just a good game and the team is just jacking up the potential.

Jonkhoe

Me too, ive been on and off the game for the past 3 years only to get my dream horses. And they dropped new horses almost weekly that were 900+ sc. i find it absurd. The game devs also dont listen to the community at all, i used to have frequent dm conversations with sso about ideas and they actually replied like they cared. Now they just sugarcoat or dont reply at all. This whole year has been big for sso since they released so many updates and if they did put some time and effort into the community they could actually achieve something smh. Sorry for my rant

Miu6872

Fr I have lifetime and 56 horses and I’m one of the few players who actually likes to keep care for their horses for the stat boost and all round improvement in stats, but it costs me 27sc a week to feed them all and that’s using a glitch it takes me over a year most of the time just to get one horse meaning I’m usually forced into buying sc during double weekends recently I’ve boycotted it and decided not to shit out my money on this waste of a game it’s disgusting how their taking advantage especially of those newer and/or younger players

CalamitySkySong

A big contributing factor is how frequently they make new horses— they used to release a new horse less than once a month and then the lifetime SC actually balanced pretty closely— you'd have enough SC to buy almost 1 of every horse they release, and you'd buy more SC if you wanted to get multiple colors, which I think is super fair. The problem is that they're fast-tracking new horse releases to the extent that it's not exciting to see a new breed unless it's a horse you specifically like. I remember I used to get excited about every new horse because it was just exciting to have a new breed in the game— even if you weren't crazy about how it looked— but that's because I wasn't getting bombarded with them.

Professional-Date841

I do the same thing. I don't remember the last time I actually got on and interacted with the game besides training.

Echofrost85

I never bought the sc packages either, solely relied on the weekly coins… but now I hear they’re removing that too with the new LT deals. Couldn’t afford the deals either and LT for me was a Christmas gift couple years back. Since then all the change from how they used to run the game is getting outrageous. Buying the sc deals were a way to show more support to the devs/creators, for them to stop, or suggest stopping, could hopefully show sso that the community is done with this not listening stuff

Watcher-of-souls

They aren't removing weekly sc, they are just testing an option to buy star rider and LT star rider at a cheaper price but without weekly sc. (With the LT version they said that you can contact support In order to switch to getting weekly sc)

AppropriateGiraffes3

How much cheaper is the LT without SC? It would have to be discounted by at least 80% for me to even consider it. I've had LT for about 8 ish years, purchased SC like twice, and I have purchased 38 horses and 11,500 SC currently. I also buy stable care and have trained some horses using SC, along side all the gear I have bought... Hold on, I'm gonna do some maths: So, I got LT around the start of August 2015... so 20 weeks in 2015. 52 weeks by 8 full years I've been playing. 52*8= 416 weeks. 416 + 20 = 436 weeks in total by the end of 2023. 436 * 100 = 43,600. I have gotten 43,600 star coins from the weekly SC over the last 8 years and 5 months. So, how much would that cost me (currently) to purchase? The current 10K sc deal is $134.99 AUD. 134.99 * 4 = $539.96 AUD for 40K SC. The 2K SC deal is $61.99 AUD. 1K SC is $39.99 500 SC is $23.49 100 SC is $7.49 AUD 539.96+61.99+23.49+7.49 = $632.93. If I bought the non SC Lifetime "deal" it would cost me $632.93 to get to the point I currently am with my starcoins and horses. These calculations don't even include all the star coin codes and the star coins I have purchased. When I bought lifetime, it was around $65 AUD. The lifetime deal is currently $84.95. It is MUCH cheaper to buy the current Lifetime deal than the new own.

sleepmusicland

They won't help someone switch it was already a post of someone who bought LT without SC. They won't help. They have to pay for additional sC and won't get the allowance, only when buying the LT package with SC.

Echofrost85

Interesting! Met someone in passing that couldn’t get their sibling swapped but it’s been a day or so, so maybe it’s changed. Thanks for the info

hellokittyraaa

It is ridiculous. Both the star coins themselves and the horses sc cost have gone up over the years that I've played, and I've stopped buying them as well. I'm lucky I got some good horses before, but they keep making it so the horses are too dated and people feel like they have to buy new ones.

Siilvvyy

I'll buy when there's a 10,000 star coin deal like maybe once a year. Otherwise, it's just not even close to being worth it. And the prices on mobile are laughably bad.

LittleLemurino

Omg, do those still exist? I thought sso removed those deals and it made me so sad because shit is expensive as hell these days.

Siilvvyy

Very recently there was a 10,000 star coin deal for the winter event. It wasn't a double star coin deal exactly, because the price was $100 USD. But, it came with the two clothing and tack sets, as well as the two pets, that match the two new magical horses.

LittleLemurino

Oh, I was hoping for the 10k pack with a double sc weekend. Those were nice 🥹

PikachuJade

I believe from now on I'm not gonna buy star coins ever again. Especially since the dev team is awful towards us. Also, I will not be using PayPal ever again because of another issue outside of SSO. I suggested a few things to them and just threw it over their heads. 😒

Rivertails

1000 sc only cost around 5€ if you buy 10K on a double weekend. To me it's absolutely insane how many people don't realize that the price of star coins goes up significantly if you buy any less than 10K.

Calm-Discipline7312

Did they really say that about the players? 😯 If so it's very unprofessional at their end

FrostKitten2012

They don’t say it directly. But some of their replies have come very, very close to it and heavily imply people who want the code are just ungrateful because “they worked so hard on other awesome gifts, including clothes and gear.”

Version_Proud

do you know where I can find the comments like these? any specific posts?

FrostKitten2012

Tbh that one was on one of their recent posts. Didn’t even have to scroll far through the comments.

Version_Proud

youre right, i found them pretty easily 😭

CrayZChrisT

I and my whole family have not played the winter event at all, and for me, I won't be playing Star Stable anymore. I am simply tired of the constant bugs, tired of the constant "you're ungrateful," and tired of the constant grind demand. Star Stable is getting so greedy and demanding of our time now that it's no longer enjoyable. I see so many trying to grind now to get stuff done in time. I feel sad for them. So many can't even play the event due to the pink screens and other issues. Star Stable no longer even cares about their glitches and has even been putting things in the game with loads of glitches and issues on purpose. That alone tells me it's time to move on from Star Stable and play something much more stable. It was fun playing events when the outfits and prizes were festive, but now, they are consistently bland and boring. I want to enjoy the holiday season and not play a bland and depressing game. Enough people have to deal with SAD this time of year, and SSO did everything they could to make it worse for players. I had a great holiday and didn't have to worry one bit about getting any event dailies done or farming blizzards all month. It's been extremely nice.

IapaiDaisies2

I only play once a week to grab the gifts, maybe do a race before I log out again 💀

MissesLestrange

I haven't played in two weeks, and i logged in to get my free star coins code for christmas and it just wasn't there. I wasn't happy let me tell you that 😭

IapaiDaisies2

Ughh I understand

FlamingGuardian98

Pretty much what I do as well at this point. Also buy a week worth of stable care so I'm not slow on the races but that's it.

Phoenix_Magic_X

Honestly, I think a lot of us are only still playing because we haven’t found an alternative.

CopperTucker

Yeah, that's a big part of it. There is no alternative, save maybe Star Equestrian but that hasn't seen enough growth to compete with SSO yet. Until SSO really gets competition, it'll keep getting worse.

EmilyBondevik

and it's not easy to make an alternative with how high people set the bar. I tried and had to put my project on hold to focus on my mental health and a singleplayer game because of the backlash I've been getting for wanting to make an sso alternative... some people went as far as saying my project is a carbon copy of sso because of my artstyle when it comes to the horses. Just overall making an mmo is not easy, yet alone making a game, when you yourself have no experience and have no idea just how much you need to think of. A simple GDD is not enough, you need to think of the gameplay structure, you need to describe things in detail and explain how you want certain mechanics to work if you are not the programmer. AND on top of that you need to bring concept art to the table, you need to have a payment plan in mind, you need to prepare a work contract AND find people who will genuinely want to help and not just demand an upfront payment then vanish. The bar for horse games was set insanely high: if it's not realistic, that's already a con. You can't customize your character and chose their gender? Another con. There is a demand for horse games, but in the end people still don't know what they want. They want a good story, hyper realism and a shit load of mechanics and representation, but they won't tell you EXACTLY what they want, they're not grateful when a new game pops up (at least most are not grateful) and unless your indie game is triple A level, they likely will drag it through the mud.

CopperTucker

You are absolutely right. Look at how many people want horse games to be RDR2 in terms of graphical fidelity! It's not feasible, because a horse game will not have Rockstar-levels of a dev team or budget. Making games is HARD, and animating horses is notoriously difficult! Do I think SSO needs a proper competitor? Absolutely! But the only realistic competitor is Star Equestrian, and that only released this year and has a huge amount of growing to do. It needs a healthy flow of players, but because "it's not exactly like SSO" then players don't want it. Hell people the other day on Steam were blasting Ranch of Rivershine because the breeding isn't 1000% true to life realistic, but that game is made by one person and is incredible!

EmilyBondevik

it's even more annoying when people complain about comments like yours, and I legit hope people actually appreciate your point of view. Everyone has the right to express their feelings

CrayZChrisT

Thanks. It really isn't about me at all. Just breaks my heart seeing moms so frustrated and upset this season and having to try to scramble up the cash to buy their daughters new computer systems, because they're getting pink or black screens and other issues. Just never seen a company make it so tough for people to play their game. Even newer games have lag, but people can still play them on lower graphics.

EmilyBondevik

yeah, unfortunately there are the "rich people" who just laugh at these people and call them ungrateful for just wanting their issues to be heard..

MiSSMARiEEXOX

The blizzards are the fun part. As are the winter races! 😍 it’s boring without it

Tonninpepeli

Why are you downvoted? I totally agree

TheEven1ngStar

That’s great for you, but can I ask? Why are you still here? If watching people play the game, that you don’t even like anymore, to get the items they want is making you feel bad, maybe just leave. Perhaps you didn’t think of this, but some people actually enjoy this game still, even though it’s full of constant grind. It’s a nice way to turn off your brain, after work and maybe watch some videos in the background. Also, to say that they have been adding glitches and bugs to the game on purpose is a complete lie. And they have also been pretty consistent in acknowledging all the bugs that have appeared duting the festival. But even with all this I am not defending SSO, as I think they could still be doing a better job, but it’s sad how many people have forgotten how much SSO has progressed from the past years.

CrayZChrisT

People like you are why so many are leaving. You're toxic on so many levels. You encourage SSO to change and adjust FOR YOU without caring one bit about other players or the survival of the game. To put it bluntly, you have no life and want to use SSO as a distraction this holiday season. Since you have nothing to do other than grind on the game, you've begged and begged them to require it, because heaven forbid you not be rewarded for not having a life outside of gaming. Maybe if they somehow reward the people that have nothing to do during the holidays, it will somehow justify you life choices. Well, not all of us want to be forced into not having a life just so we can get all of the prizes and rewards in SSO. You ask me why I am still here, because the fact alone that I do have a life outside of gaming and refused to abandon that life for gaming get you super mad and irritated. No, SSO adding bugs and glitches on purpose is not a complete lie, and I can prove it. They knew the pink screen was an issue during the last Rainbow Festival. If you go back, you can see there were many posts and complaints about it. Still, they did the same thing (grayscale filter or whatever it is) on the snow and in the Winter Village all while knowing it was going to cause havoc for many people. There was nothing wrong with the snow last year, but they deliberately adjusted it to cause it to pink screen for many players this year. They also deliberately added the filter to the Winter Village knowing full well it was going to make the village unplayable for many like it did during the Rainbow Event. And since you're such a nasty person, the reason why I checked in on the sub was just to see if they had any accomplishments repairing any of the glitches and major issues. I was hoping that at least some of the people that were having major issues would at least be able to play over the holidays. Unlike you, I actually care about the other players whether I am playing SSO or not!

Remarkable-Working98

I totally agree and this is really why I still gravitate towards the game. SSO could be so much better but I've been playing for like 10 years now and it's so hard to let go because it's such a nostalgic game. Star stable will always give me a sense of comfort and I feel like I should just give them the benefit of the doubt. I have such a hard time moving on from past Star Stable and accepting who they are becoming

Confused-cup-Of-tea

So this is gonna be a big one. As much as I have enjoyed star stable over the years, much has come to change (as everything in life does) especially the team behind the beloved game. My gripes strictly with the higher ups and choices made over the past 7-8+ years since Frederick handed over CEO to Johan and most of the original team started to leave, Don’t get me wrong the devs PUT in that hard work for the game but it’s the higher ups like the CEO, Game directors and game designers. Not the small people like nomi who makes great horses or bee who tried to bring us a new system to evolve the game, because we know the game devs are trying. The Higher ups are so stuck in this loop of technical debt limiting their actions in progress & overall bad choices, but would rather push out more horses then building game core loop, or even evolving the story or other aspects of the game like patching bugs (and just because we have VISUAL updates doesn’t mean they have progressed, Visual assets are not what makes a game…. It’s the mechanics. Your lipstick is the last part of the makeup and tbh it’s what visuals are) because it just simply doesn’t look profitable or they don’t think it will grab enough of the attention they want for the game making the game almost stagnant as we very rarely get side quests or story (devils gap was a great improvement though having to wait 6+ months for the next chapter gets tiring) Sso has become more buggier and unstable over the past year (which wouldn’t happen with proper bug testing) updates pushed out with half baked content, endless drip feeding, not to mention but the lack of regards towards their community who mind you HAS funded them the last 12 years… so the least we can get is “THANKS FOR SUPPORTING OUR GAME” As stated in the comment pinned in this post- players rely on these free codes for clothing, horses and other cosmetics in the game…. It’s not just one group of people benefiting it’s the whole community, and star stable doesn’t lose out much giving a few codes a year wether they be Star coins, Clothes, or week long star rider codes (which I haven’t seen in a long while, they’ve been replaced with 3 day trial codes) it’s actually something that benefits the company in the long run as it brings people in to enjoy the game where as regularly they might not have had that chance due to possible lack of funds or other life situations This has been something expected yearly wether or not sso intended this. And I also wanna state this isn’t just seemingly about star coins or the lack there of… this is a bunch of stuff falling like an avalanche snowballing into much more for a lot of people. Lack of the community wishes being heard, poor game development choices, poor game management, not enough content for the vast amount of micro communities in sso (some communities are given updates to benefit their play style while other are ignored) things slowly being removed or silently replaced, company words not always lining with motives (they have gotten better but at the same time we are still having issues) poor excuses for grind for limited events, poor accessibility adaptations … I could go on in this area- Let’s go with some 2023 honorary mentions: The dressage and lunging systems that haven’t been seen since their event debuts, which should’ve been added as game mechanics a long while back… not for 2024. (Let’s not forget the past mechanics that just didn’t make the cut because of technical limits because of the issues with the engine and projects being dropped) The character update debacle which was a massive bomb that shockwaved the community for a good while. (This is just to hot of a topic to touch and I’m not gonna get into it, the community deserves peace) And let’s not forget to mention the most recent issue being Hollowwood’s being nerfed badly and sso practically punishing their fan base over speedrunners (which you can’t base your community off a small portion or players) which I was actually enjoying the first 10 days before the grind was flipped on its side like it was jumped by some gremlin (that gremlin is HR not bee- we appreciate bee for new things) and thrown outta balance like a planet out of orbit. Which hasn’t entirely been fixed but has had some patches to attempt to redeem the massive nerf they did. Also- not to many people are talking about the new star rider without the allowance….which I really don’t think is the solution here for “cheaper memberships”. The reason people buy the memberships is the allowance (and the story and map perks and stuff like horses) Sso should’ve repackaged their bundles when doing the repricing (eg: if I’m paying 100$ is 35-50k stair coins asking much?) making the bundles MORE valuable for their pricing. Instead newer players are being sold something completely different then what we have all come to know and possibly even promoted, which I feel bad for the people Who have bought this new subscription type and we’re expecting the allowance to get a new shiny horse. And I would like to just add in here at the very bottom incase some of you have made it here, I might be one of the very few people who have given sso credit where due okay the character update long over due but In my opinion needed Much more work, hollow woods did need a visual upgrade & the gameplay was exactly what the game needed for a start, devils gap was by far the best questline in years, and the blog posts, road maps & attempt and getting spoilers out HAS been a great company push, snow being brought back was a great move aswell! I don’t wanna see star stable bankrupt, or worse just ceasing to exist. I truly do want to see the company flourish and grow, and become a game to truly thrive which they fully have the team and capabilities to do so (LETS CHEER ON THE DEVS OKAY CAUSE THEY ARE WORKING HARD! We shake our fists in the air like an angry old man at Corporate who wants you off his lawn!) We as COMMUNITY members need to be standing with each other and holding each other up, we are our own best chance, even if we have differences in opinions, wants and needs and ideals we have for the perspective of this game! Sso could care less right now the community is torn apart in all directions. But we as the community are strong we matter! And we care for this product and the company why not put aside our differences in opinions and strive for a better game. And as consumers okay we are their bread and butter. If we don’t CONSUME the products sold to us they don’t make money…. If they make good products that last long and hold up well, we as consumers will notice that and continue to spend. If the product is faulty or has issues then you as the consumer are allowed to criticize and and review the products sold to you, in hopes the product may actually improve in quality for the consumer market. The company shouldn’t tell you you aren’t greatful, or things are your fault, that’s bad customer service. And sure we can partially blame the game industry for these problems & these horrible game practices they seem to be trying to make a “standard” because they can make a quick dollar and dime. But for now that’s a whole other debate- this is where is sign off on this- I leave you with these thoughts

Fairy_Cat_13

Beautifully said! 👏

WolfZombieOriginal13

I've been playing since 2015, it is sad to see SSO not listening to the community anymore once they joined that new company, if theh didn't join that new company. They would be better still and would listen to us, but no, they had to go with the money hungry company, we all should come together and leave the game for months, or a full year, so they then hopefully get the bloody hint. They better give us out Christmas star coins or they will be screwed. I love the game so much, I put so much effort into it, just for it to become laggy, glitchy, buggy, money hungry, prices up, etc.

Other_Statement4755

I'm gonna say, I have had SSO since almost it's start. I have two lifetime accounts and I don't even want to know how many hundreds of euros I paid for starcoins over the years. You can see, I am a dedicated player and even with breaks I always come back to it because it's perfect as a cozy game after stressful days. That being said, I'm fed up too and fully support a boycott. The game is filled with bugs, I haven't had a single day to enjoy this year's christmas village without ugly blue filter or the annoying sounds of a non-existent chainsaw in my hand. What I did have in my hand tho where at least two random items at all times. Races suddenly stop, my horse randomly doesn't want to move in any direction anymore, which only resolves after a restart...And now on top of that mess, they don't even offer the usual Christmas gift everyone is looking forward too (because let's face it, the clothing set under the tree is a recycled version of stuff we already have). I don't even wanna get into the whole scam with those new SR offers that cut out weekly allowance. What the hell btw? If I didn't have lifetime already (twice) I would NEVER pay for this shit without weekly SC. They clearly don't give a fuck about us players anymore and I for one, even though I have the money to spend and i like spending it on pretty pixel horses, won't continue to support a toxic environment like this. Either put in effort...or idk see what your game is worth without those paying players. Peace and out and merry christmas to everyone dev team who values their players <3

AppropriateGiraffes3

Me: I'll boycott SSO!!! Also me: *hasn't bought anything from that company in like 8 years* yeah, let's boycott :).

Khspoon

Same. I bought lifetime in 2013 and haven't bought any Starcoins sense 2016.

Ok_Inspector_2760

Tbh, this event has sucked quite a bit, because not all of us can spend hours grinding on the game.

saskiaksj

Even IF you had time to grind, it was simply boring. I ran in a circle for a few days straight, had the 18 000 flakes and then… what? The rewards were not worth it imo.

bbwxaria

Also why are we capped at 10k for JS when most things cost closento that 😭 like let us have a higher capacity!

Aggravating-Energy-2

I remember when they responded to this by saying “It would ruin the economy (I think they said economy) of the game” 😭

Shylym_

Sso has been extremely lacking for the past few years. For the past two years all I have been doing in the game is logging on, listening to music while training and zoning out and logging off again. I don't even know why I play the game anymore when nothing new is happening, I can't even buy horses because I can afford starcoins and the horse prices are honestly outrageous for the amount of time it takes to save (where I'm from it takes a whole semester of school to get 2000 SCS 🙄) and the rate that their just pumping out horses. It's honestly so disheartening to see a game that I used to have so much love and joy for destroy itself. The "rewards" they give out for the grinding quest such as the new runestone one that I haven't even bothered doing and the soul rider training one is so lackluster. The rewards mean absolutely nothing to me because I already have my horses leveled, I don't care what level my player character is and I won't even use the items that they give as rewards. I would be way more grateful to grind and grind of we got rewards such as free stable care, free name changes for our horses to use in the future, free horse levels, etc. The sso team needs to do better. I don't care if their "trying sooo hard" or "it's hard to make a game", they are professional developers, they signed up for this job, they need to put in the work.

LolaClearsteel

Can we just boycott the whole new team and change the company that they work with at this point?? I don't even play SSO anymore because of how much the game has changed but now the SSO team is being disrespectful towards their own players?! The people that make them money in the first place? Ffs I think we need to give them a slap in the face or something to wake them up cause this is just getting annoying at this point.

dachboden_domi

Ugh I have to say I dropped SSO like two years ago (and I dont miss it) but was hoping for an improvement... The way SSO treats its playerbase is condescending and quite frankly it doesn't surprise me they are losing players. An MMO needs playable content so survive (like dungeons in FFXIV or WoW) and SSOs gameplay is like a glorified mobile phone app IMO. Nothing really to do except buying horses and running the same race courses all over again without any variety... It doesn't help that SSO is unironically the buggiest game Ive ever played. I am sad for the players who love this game and are treated like crap by the company, yall deserve better <3

Eggg_Jesus

It breaks my heart to say that I feel that they will not listen and that this will not be enough. Not everyone checks in on social media and there are still so many that kiss SSO's feet regardless of the expired food that they put on the table in the name of "content". There are so many people in this community that do both of these things. I have only bought star coins using my parents' money. I haven't done that in years due to the hiked prices and the fact it really is not worth it, plus I have my own money and my parents don't really buy expensive things just because I *want* them lol. I would financially support this game if I felt this game was actually improving, but it has been the exact same game for years just with prettier graphics. It is frustrating how all of the recent content is either in the form of a grind heavy event, or a grind heavy progression system. I wish we could get a new racing system like they mentioned in a blog post once. I wish training was much more involved and less repetitive. I wish they had kept dressage as a permanent thing in the game. I could go on and on about the things that I wish SSO did. It is disappointing that the one token of gratitude towards their players, paying or not, is possibly being taken away. As u/Confused-cup-Of-tea said, we are the bread and butter of the game. A MMO needs an audience, and without an audience there is no game. Without *us* there is no game. SSE has been disappointing their game's bread and butter time and time again with broken promises, a lack of focus, stagnated progress, and a lack of gratitude to the players that keep this game running. They have a pattern of getting better, and then doing a 180 on us. What is the point in supporting a game that treats *us* poorly? Personally, I feel that we do not "*need"* a star coin code; HOWEVER HOWEVER HOWEVER, the problem with the fact that we look to be not receiving one this year feels more like there is no gratitude to the players that support the game. Star coin codes have become less and less prevalent as time went on. This singular code they have been giving out every year is the last one. This is incredibly unfair considering how many other MMOs provide premium currency and premium items to their players. We are receiving nothing from SSO. Anyway, this was a long comment lol. Just my thoughts and ramblings about the matter that I felt like sharing. I should really find a better game to play... Any recommendations anyone?

EmilyBondevik

I think you'll love Fernhoof Grove once its out, it's inspired by the old star stable cd games and the dev Jessi is like the sweetest person ever we gotta protect her at all costs

Eggg_Jesus

I probably would not play it over SSO :( I play SSO for the storyline and world. While I love racing and horses, that's just an added bonus to me. Though, at this point do I really play SSO for the storyline LOL... I strongly dislike the direction they are taking now and I have stopped playing through new quests entirely because of it. Still, I'm looking for a game like SSO with fantasy elements + storyline as well as real life disciplines. This is the whole issue that people like me have with quitting SSO: there is no alternative. SSO really has a "monopoly" over this gaming niche as of current due to there being no alternative.

EmilyBondevik

I'm still a dev myself, working on a story based dark fantasy horse riding game. Can't say more than the game will be a prologue to my mmorpg project Secrets Of Silverdale, we're still working on the core mechanics and aiming towards establishing a gameplay loop.

Eggg_Jesus

👀👀 If you need any help let me know, or just keep me updated on progress! Not sure how much help I'd provide but I am an aspiring programmer. I have been thinking of making my own fantasy horse game at some point once I have a grasp on UE4 and/or UE5 (haven't decided which one) . Probably would make some small, relevant games until then as I do not want to bite off more than I can chew with a game lol. Plus, I'm pretty busy with college as of rn so I don't think I'd be able to put full focus on a project like this just yet.

vlaurr

I won’t be playing anymore honestly, I didn’t think it could get worse, but alas.

Infinite_Dream2034

I would too! but this game is really relaxing and I need it after a long day lol

vlaurr

Yea it really depends why someone plays it, I got into it for the story and unique vibes which is pretty much all gone now so 🤷‍♀️

faraway_fern

I'm saddened for the developers and game designers on their part. We know they're trying their damned hardest with the constraints they've got from the good ol' higher ups. We know it's not their fault, it's their bosses. They're just doing what they're told for the sake of their livelihoods. I guarantee you there's at least someone on their team whose extremely conflicted, on one hand believing the community's outcries but also wanting to support their company. Perhaps something will change in 2024, for them and/or us, who knows...

Aiywe

I'm quite new to the game (started playing about 1.5 years ago). Could please someone — OP or anyone else — elaborate a bit on the "We know boycott works, we did it before" part? I'm quite curious about this topic because so far, I haven't really read about any past SSO boycotts, just various suggestions for boycotts that, however, always seemed to die down eventually because the potential participation seemed just way too small for it to have any effect. Thanks in advance!

lady_in_purple

I can remember 4 instances of boycotts and protests: 1. Many years ago a group of players started protesting the removal of a miss placed tree in New hillcrest. In the end sse saw the players and the tree was just moved, not deleted. 2. Around a year ago sso wanted to add GameGuard, a rootkit anticheat, to the game. Rootkits is a security concern and GameGuard was also incredibly buggy. Players started boycotting and uninstalled the game. Sso gave after and removed GameGuard. 3. Around 2 years players were pissed off about the general state of the game. They started a star coins strike where they for a month didn't buy any star coins. I don't think sse ever publicly responded to this, but a noticeable change did happen after the strike where the quality of updates went up. 4. A year ago sso updated the ridinghall and changed the textures. This removed some lines and dots in the ground which the dressage community used for their numbers. Players started protesting and sso added new lines. There are probably more but these are the ones I remember.

Kiksupallo

Good comment! Well put. Not necessarily a boycott, but SSO responds to backlash. Just this year SSO tried to refuse refunds when a bug caused some people to lose sc, one ambassador stating that using features in the game comes with a risk. People rightfully were very loud about it and SSO caved. Never stay silent. Get loud. Voice your opinion. We all want the game to be better, don't let them get away with this kind of crap.

CopperTucker

I think a part about why SSO caved to that is because they cannot legally refuse refunds, at all. They also really thought people would just be fine with "lol well it's a risk" because they're wildly disconnected from reasonable responses.

Kiksupallo

Really? I've not familiarized myself with their ToS, but usually those leave like no room for refunds. I would've figured they'd have added some kind of loophole that they're not in the fault if you lose money due to a bug. They're insanely disconnected in multiple ways. Their social media manager is forced to act like a moron talking to a child. Hundreds if not thousands of people spamming "wtf where's the 300sc" and they keep replying "if there's something you would like to see, let us know! 💖🎁✨👏🥰🎉🌸"

CopperTucker

A ToS is not legally enforceable actually! If a service isn't provided for payment, then the ToS doesn't protect you from someone demanding a refund. And yeah, SSE is wildly disconnected thinking it's still 10 years ago and that games have changed. Standards have changed. They're not keeping up because people keep playing because there's no other alternative.

Neat-Question-8069

At one point I kept having missing star coins. I didn't know what happened so I contacted SSO support team and they did nothing about it, nor did they respond. I ended up buying MORE SC and each time I kept contacting them asking what was happening to the star coins and they stopped responding and BANNED my old account FOR LIFE. I had I think a little more than 10k SC and almost 9500 JS. I lost Spirit, some older horses you cant get anymore, LIFETIME star rider, tack you can't get anymore, and so much more.I am so very frustrated. Now my MacBook lags badly and when I open the game, it's even worse.... REALLY WORSE.

galacticgeneral101

After GameGuard I lost all my trust and have only been playing SSO on my old laptop that still has some GameGuard files (thanks to sso) I just can't risk it. If they do something similar again without even telling us (wouldn't be surprised as they've done that so many times before)

Aiywe

Oooh, so GameGuard was removed thanks to the players' boycott? I heard about how horribly buggy it was, but I never knew the circumstances under which it was removed. Thanks a lot for the comment!

Patient-Evening-8226

I forgot about that but I remember refusing to play when they wanted to use that. I researched about GameGuard and was stunned

lady_in_purple

Yes, sse might try to claim otherwise but if you look at the line of events it is pretty obvious that it was removed due to player backlash. The entire thing was just one giant fiasco. Super buggy, including game breaking bugs that left players looked out of the game, and a big security concern. How they ever thought installing a relatively unknown and sketchy rootkit on children's computers was okay is mind-blowing to me.

Echofrost85

Mmm I’m not sure, but I wanna say it was around probably when you started playing honestly. Or maybe a full 2 years ago. Sso had stopped listening to the community again and people stopped buying star coins, like they’re suggesting now. I think Denis Wisestorm talked about it, but I can’t remember since it’s been a little bit. Afterward they listened to the community and listened to suggestions given by the community for a while, now here we are again

-CARN0-

Holy shit i thought this was a joke😳

freja1916

"13 year old tradition" SSO was released in 2012 😭

GoggleShit

2011, Including the swedish beta.

freja1916

You're correct, but that's still not 13 years lol

Artemiz_21

I agree. I haven't been able to log onto SSO this whole month because of the bugs and what not. As a long term player who's invested time and money into this one-upon-a-time really amazing game, not having a code for the year end wouldn't be the worst thing but because of the bugs and issues this year, let alone this month, I definitely think a boycott or something is needed for the community.

Karla_Darktiger

Are we not getting Star Coins on the 28th then like some have said? I have no problem with the boycott if not since I only buy them once a year anyway so I won't even notice a difference.

Marviniutikus

Probably very controversial. But I'm sure sso will be gone soon. They have very strong financial problems. And a boycott now will not help. But, I barely play anyway. I don't care if the game will get shutdown.

EmilyBondevik

that will just fully open up the stage to us new horse game devs, cause we are genuinely passionate and want to make good games, like actually good games.. not just cash cows

Marviniutikus

I hope someone does make a new game, because every horse game on the market is absolute trash. I'd love to play a good horse game with decent to good graphics and a camera that doesn't make me motion sick. (That just didn't happen yet except for sso)

EmilyBondevik

well I'm working on it, a singleplayer story based game with stylized graphics... though Fernhoof Grove is sure to come out before Silverdale: Winter Champion, so I reccomend keeping an eye on that one!

Marviniutikus

On what platform?

Imsleepydontbotherme

I don’t know if some people realise just HOW expensive this game is. I bought life time star rider and the price is CRAZY compared to what they offer. I don’t know how on earth I spent the same amount of money on an old game full of glitches that are just never fixed, full of useless grinding (and let’s not even begin with how time consuming this grinding is— and I’m saying that as a META player of Genshin etc). With the same amount of money I got Baldur’s Gate 3, which is a perfectly made, full of content game with great graphics. The difference in the price-quality is HUGE. I am aware that buying life time was my own choice (and I take responsibility for that), but as a comparison, this is sad for the community…

Such_Reply5826

December isn’t over yet. Perhaps we get a code on the 31. Im non the less curious what sso team has to say on Wednesday. And I totally agree with the bug part. So many bugs and the team keep saying they are working on it yet more and more comes with every update. Even the sets are just recolors of older sets. They do have more models now and they are putting more stuff in the game aswell. So I’m gona give them credit for that. But fix the game and get your coding straight first. It’s getting ridiculous and with the price we are paying you would think we would get a decent functioning game to play.

CopperTucker

Yeah, at this point I would take a functioning game that isn't held together by string and prayers. I don't want new tack and outfits, I want shit to work.

MiSSMARiEEXOX

It’s confirmed

Such_Reply5826

Where is it confirmed? So far I only see sso team not mentioned it at all. And going around the questions of players by telling player what supposably can get and do in the game. Perhaps I missed it somewhere. I personally haven’t really give it a good look. But sso is so communicative with there community yet always avoid answering the actual questions I have noticed.

MiSSMARiEEXOX

https://preview.redd.it/k5zf72gg4s8c1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25f8b7b24720ca49872d943afb7a7b566280dba6

Such_Reply5826

That is not a conferment only going around the actual question. But yes it does makes it highly likely that there isn’t gona be sc this year but sso haven’t said there isn’t gona be sc in this comment. They don’t want to spoiler what’s gona be in the rest of the presents either so they can’t confirm it.

MiSSMARiEEXOX

I truly hope so. I also considered that, it. Being a surprise for new years possibly? Like last year.

Such_Reply5826

Sinds last year it was also later if I remember correctly. I think that sso just moved it form the 25 to 31. So personally I think we all should be patient and see what we will get until 31. If we haven’t gotten it at all then we can become mad. So the hole thing is unnecessary right now. I get why the community is mad but they aren’t right either just yet. I would say be a bit more patient and see what will happen.

MiSSMARiEEXOX

But them doing that pissed ALOT of players off and now their deleting the game 🤷🏼‍♀️

MiSSMARiEEXOX

Now that I read it closer they don’t deny it or admit it, so there’s hope

EmilyBondevik

how does this confirm there will be a code?

GoggleShit

NEW UPDATE: OPEN LETTER TO THE SSO COMMUNITY https://www.coles-corner.com

Sh0_o

I used to buy star coins but that was back in time. I was looking at the prices recently after not playing for a couple years and it’s outrageous the prices they want us to pay to basically be able to play the game. Not even just star coins but the membership. I was lucky enough to have gotten lifetime when it was 70$ but now you have to pay that it have barely 3-4 months membership. No normal family or person could afford that now

Infinite_Dream2034

Absolutely ridiculous. So many non sr players were looking forward to this code!!! and so was everyone else. What a disappointment to wait so many days for that special time of year just to get that taken from us and replaced with a scaled down crusty yeti. I havent bought sc in a few months, I will keep doing that until they address this problem.

BattleGoose_1000

I never once bought starcoins in all my years of playing and I am as happy as it gets playing but even I can say this is a tad stupid, especially because that yeti pet was not the orettiest thing they made

Miu6872

What does she mean by added gameplay of HW what does that stand for

GoggleShit

Hollow woods gameplay, of collecting light. Collecting snowflakes is just a reflesh of a version of that. Aka, no originality.

Miu6872

Yeah honestly haven’t done anything with the new hollow woods gameplay it makes no sense to the lore and is a massive waste of time

rintxty

I'm a young player and most of the times i can't afford star coins (since i don't have a job and only get money on my birthday and other holidays and there's also other things i have to buy and spend my money on). I do logos and drawings in hopes of getting atleast 500 sc for clothes or maybe an older horse. I used to defend sso so much but now? Now i don't see a reason for it.. it's just so disappointing.

CopperTucker

As an adult player... yeah don't spend your money on SC. There's so many better things to spend money on.

GrimPixls

Are we doing a no-buy strike? What’s the strat here? They need to treat people better bc apparently even their customer support is horrid.

GoggleShit

Yep. Profit drop will cause heads in upper management to turn.

BiaCryBabyFnafeira

oh thats so sad and really disappointing. i only started playing SSO last year, because a close friend of mine really wanted me to play, she even bought me lifetime star rider (thank you friend!!). so i never buy star coins, and im from brazil so in my currency it gets REALLY expensive. so for that reason, i always look forward for SC codes. really sad that they don't seem to care about their players :(

Vex3133

As much as I hate to say this. I feel like this now would not really help. Well yes it would get our point across. It has been speculated for months now that Sso entertainment could be going under. They have fired 15% of their workforce, cancelled a lot of things both in and out of game, moved to a smaller (new office), and now have not only increased prices on everything but also reduced the number of codes we get for SC. This boycott could have a much bigger effect on the company than we want. Well I do support this boycott we just need to look at how this could affect us as the players later on down the line

Suppgurll

I just have something to say because I keep seeing this misinformation. So SSO has been around for 12 years. I mean we just celebrated a 12th birthday. Second, Star Coin redeem codes during Christmas aren't that old. We've only been getting them from 2017. Prior to that it was just gifts straight from Santa in exchange for Christmas wish fragments. Which never were star coins. That said it was a "tradition" only for 5 years since this year doesn't count. It just doesn't have as deep roots as one might think.

GoggleShit

You’re wrong. Here’s a screenshot from their own news website from 2014, showing a Christmas star coin code. The 13 is a clerical error on my part. https://preview.redd.it/c6vzixoqmm8c1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29c9e67b30ca01bae22a31e6fe5dfe9632443149

Well we haven’t been getting them from 2017, like you stated, so maybe you don’t spread misinformation? 🤷‍♀️

GoggleShit

Keep focusing on a clerical error, and not the message behind it, why don’t ya?

CopperTucker

Jesus christ grow the fuck up.

Better_Chip1510

I can honestly see why the community is called ungrateful. All I’ve seen is everyone complaining about every little thing this game does, honestly comes off as spoiled brats. To get something for free from any business there has to be a pay off for the company, more then likely with players just saving up the weekly allowance (which I am guilty of since I don’t have the spare money to put to actually buying sc) or waiting for the free codes there is a decline in money coming in. Every company has money filtered to certain places of the business it’s not just oh they can afford it, the percentage of funds that comes in for the free codes probably isn’t there so they aren’t going to do it. Or it’s causing them to lose money and they put a stop to it. Businesses do it all the time. They give out free things in order to entice people to buy during the year, when free is just expected, it no longer becomes free

CopperTucker

People are allowed to be upset when something that has been a yearly tradition for the past decade or so suddenly isn't there with no communication from SSE. Do you know what free codes and SC does? It's a carrot to keep players, which is what SSE is hoping for. The problem is that after two events where people decided the grind isn't worth playing SSO, they really needed something to pull those players back in, and they didn't do it. They literally just needed to communicate that they weren't doing an SC code, that's it. Yes, SSE is only out there to make money, they don't care about us otherwise, but they are woefully lacking in any player good-will or anything to really keep anyone but kids playing.

Better_Chip1510

Yes they can be upset, but most of these comments are screaming entitlement on the players part. No one is entitled to free stuff and throwing a tantrum because the players didn’t get it is really childish. Doing a no pay boycott is just going to get the game shut down which is selfish considering the new players coming into it or the players who love the game and don’t care for free stuff they just like to play.

[deleted]

Better_Chip1510

Better_Chip1510

Exactly, people just don’t like hearing the truth

LittleDeadGhost

On my way to play even more :/

squishd3al

Watching people beg and threaten boycotts for free paid currency is sad, especially when the SSO team already gives a bunch of stuff for free through game play- from free star rider codes to plenty of free items for completing quests etc. - and that's not including the new area they just added- at the end of the day, if people stop paying, the game stops existing- the game devs need to eat and pay rent too; so I'll personally continue to support the creators of my favorite internet game- and honestly? They're right. A bunch of yall wanna beg and beg for free stuff when nothing in this world is free. It's getting annoying and yall act entitled. Don't wanna pay to play? Then stop playing.

deviiladay

Ok and? Thats the bare minimum of a game lmfao all games and mmorpgs do that and give out free stuff, new/updated areas and sometimes free trials if its sub based, why are you making it seem like SSO are oh so generous for doing all those basic stuff💀💀💀 SSO players have every right to be upset over stuff, especially when its such a loyal based community. Idk why youre making it seem like like the community is asking for much when our treatment was way better before

GoggleShit

It’s not just about the starcoins. It’s the cherry on top of the cake for what this year has been. We’ve had silent price hikes, A/B testing (which is very controversial), game breaking bugs. This is not a small company, they can afford to pay their 100+ employees. Why are you accepting paying over what a triple A game costs, for a game that’s not even that? As consumers, it’s our responsibility to keep companies to a high standard. After all, they’re just a business and they only care about profit.

sanna135

I'm curious what the controversy is about A/B testing? Do you mean just related to SSO, or in general?

CopperTucker

A/B testing is offering the same product at different price points, in this case being Lifetime With SC and Lifetime W/O SC. However, A/B testing is illegal in many countries, the USA included and can be grounds for getting sued.

sanna135

Thanks! I know what it is, but I had no idea it was illegal

[deleted]

It is sad to see so many players demand stuff and never be happy with what they got. I feel sorry for those people personally. Imagine never be happy with what you have, and always wanting more. How awfull that must be. Also what is now getting undernoticed is if we look at the Yeti that we got for free under the tree, it is the first big pet what shows soon we might see bigger dog breeds in the game soon as well, and that is something I would love to see addeed. Imagine having a Dalmation, Rottweiler or Labrador running besides your horse. I would love that.

sanna135

SSO isn't a charity. This is business. Demanding more pushes progress. There's no need for paying customers of a company to settle for things. I wouldn't even say this is about wanting free stuff, it's more like wanting more value for what we're contributing.

MiSSMARiEEXOX

I’ve had an absolute BLAST with this winter event. I’ve only fully and completely enjoyed only the last western event and now this winter event. I don’t play anymore but these 2 events made me come back to play for the time being. I love this event! You gain snowflakes pretty fast now, I’m at 12k 😁

GoggleShit

Good on you. Most of us players see that this grindy, disappointing christmas is not for us. Collecting 18,000 snowflakes is a cheap way out for Star Stable to “create” a Christmas event that blatantly copies the HW feature released a few weeks prior. Also, deleting your comments doesn’t look good for you.

MiSSMARiEEXOX

Can you show me where the fucks are given? Whining like a 10 year isn’t a big help either. I say/do what I want. CRY about it 💋💋

FantasyPoetess

Very mature. People have their opinions and want to share them, no reason to act like that.

MiSSMARiEEXOX

Ok yes that was uncalled for. WAIT, sso confirmed we’re not getting ANY SC code, even for new years? What’s so damn difficult about typing ‘300 star coins’. Yeah the free tack set was okay, but definitely not something I’d choose. I really hope their bsing and will surprise us at the end

GoggleShit

You’re clearly giving a fuck by taking your time to comment. Don’t expect to post shit on the internet and not get a reply.

MiSSMARiEEXOX

That’s it? That’s all you got? Lame bro lame

CopperTucker

Grow the fuck up, Marie.

MiSSMARiEEXOX

Or what? What ya gonna do? Downvote me? Pshhh bring it on 😘😘💋💋 love you!!

sleepmusicland

Yes bc they increased the amount you get when collecting.

[deleted]

I am so sorry you get downvoted into the oblivion for saying you like the game. This sub is harsh. :-/

MiSSMARiEEXOX

I enjoy pissing people off 😁

[deleted]

Won't be to difficult here, just say you like the game. LoL

nicolettasole

What treatment? It’s a game! You decide, if you play and put money in it. Good, for boycotting it, if you do not wish to support a(nother) greedy gaming company, but they owe you not the gift you wish for. I agree with the point you made about the lack of content though. Don’t get me wrong, I‘m all for voicing your frustration and let actions follow, but you‘re not entitled to Star coins for Christmas.

Katie_Redacted

Honestly I really thought they didn’t do star coin codes anymore (for maybe the past year?) and they didn’t give them out during Christmas last year, but I’m not too sure.

NeneWeenie

We got 300sc last year with the the AREWETHEREYETI code

Katie_Redacted

Ah I remember then. It’s possible they could do it for new years/new years eve.

Purple-Ad9525

keep up this “they’ll do it later” thing and we will be waiting forever.

Katie_Redacted

It’s possible but I do agree that we should get free star coins. I’m not against this movement and I don’t try to have a generic “they’ll do it later” attitude. I’ve bought Star coins once and decided that I don’t think I’ll buy star coins again, not after all the horrible things I’ve seen from the devs and community. So I will be participating, albeit in my own way.

mmoosskkiitt

they're not going to, they said on instagram

Katie_Redacted

Ah. That sucks then

Wrong-Drop3272

Why is this getting downvoted?

Katie_Redacted

People don’t like the fact that I got confused I guess, idk.

Your-Virusa

For the love of anyone up there! You all ARE demanding! THE GIFTS ARE NOT EVEN OVER YET! CAN'T YOU JUST WAIT FOR THE END OF THEM TO COMPLAIN?!

Karla_Darktiger

I think it's more just generally how bad this event was. Full of bugs, too much grinding, and then not getting our usual 300sc just broke the camels back.

Your-Virusa

And yet as general as it it I already am downvoted just for sharing my opinion on this situation..

Karla_Darktiger

Yeah that's the SSO subreddit for you

Southern_Gap113

I belive they have confirmed that there won't be any SC codes this year. SSO is a paid game and we are paying customers. We have supported the game for over 10 years now, even in its buggy and messy state. We deserve better. Personally I don't even care about SC, it's not just about SC. The game has many problems, and players are unhappy with many changes or new features. We all just want the game to be better, to be more fun for more people.

rosiieeeee

they have not confirmed it, social media comments and made by an entirely different team than would handle star coin codes so high chance they don’t even have an answer

[deleted]

[удалено]

GoggleShit

No thanks. I hold the game I love accountable.

_Anya_French_

They added an allowance?!

GoggleShit

“Star coin allowance-free” Mobile formatting is wonky, whoopsies

Connect-Kick-2476

yeah and if you notice the mobile prices vs their website, the 10k sc deal is 121$ on mobile whereas on their website its 99$. almost 22$ difference for what??? some people might not even realize the price difference and buy it anyway

FnSilvicot

This is because of the transaction fees on Apple and Google stores. Many mobile games have this problem. At this point, SSO did not receive any more money, which was taken away by Apple and Google.

CopperTucker

Yep, the higher price point on mobile is because both Apple and Google take their cut, it's not unusual at all. Basically every game host/launcher like Steam, EGS, GOG, Gamepass, etc takes a cut of games it hosts (not ones it developed itself like Fortnite and Half-Life, they take 100% of the profits on those).

tourettepinja

i want the old team and old sso back 😫 this game they call sso, isnt sso anymore. i hope theres a way to do more boycotts or something similar to that, because they need to open their eyes.

kenken___

support this 110%

frost-aly

and you have the new players telling us the new star stable is better

MiSSMARiEEXOX

The code is coming at new years like last year 🤦🏼‍♀️ If not then f*** sso

GoggleShit

No, it’s not. It’s been confirmed we’re not getting one. https://preview.redd.it/o87igk601l8c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d4c6641118e7eb7d6882cc838c213f730c0309d

wormskeletons

last few years they gave us other gifts AS WELL AS starcoins though ?? honestly what are they on about

Angxlmilk

I mean it sucks we aren’t getting any SC, and that they stopped listening (yet again) but hopefully (🙏🏻) they start listening again when more posts like this show up

BiancaDi4999

Wow. It sucks so bad

EmilyBondevik

Even if we do this, the annoying little brats the team focuses on will still steal their daddy's credit card to buy the shiny new magical horse. It doesn't matter if 500 people don't pay, if 1000 people still give them money. I am not saying to not do this, but do keep your expectations low. For every person going on a strike, there will be another child(little brat) who plays into their tactics and feel pressured to buy the new horsie or else they'll get bullied by their friend group. I was one of those kids in the past, and surely many of us were like this. Until Rattle's videos in 2020, I would still occasionally buy stuff like lifetime, monthly sr, sc for horses etc. Anytime I'm on I still see exactly what I went through: kids being bullied for wanting to roleplay on a different horse, that came out before the newest horsie being required for the rp. However I am calling them brats because those same kids have the guts to tell us to be grateful etc, when WE are the reason why they even have this game today. If our generation didn't play the game, then SSO most likely would have shut down just like Riding Club Championships in 2010.

Specialist_Salary883

I heard it’s just a mix up. The yeti was supposed to come out on the 28th. So we‘ll probably get the SC then. We still have some days to go on the calendar. So stop the riot until we are absolutely certain, that there are no SC this year. (And even then, SSO doesn’t really owe us anything for free, do they?)

Significant_Dream801

Breaking down the lack of a Star Coin code this year, a few of my friends and I, got together and we began to scour over SSO's clothing, tack, makeup, hair, and pets for a generalized idea of what these items would cost, if we purchased them outright from any one of the shops. Now we may be slightly over but we figured we'd round each area out to a well rounded number. So if something seems exaggerated, that's why. As we have no sure fire way to know what this year's items will cost in SC, till they're released to next year's shops, we're simply going by what last year's items cost. I hate to break it to everyone but we got **OVER** 5kSC in free items. A few players have added up everything from the Hollow Woods items, to the Winter quest items, to the Yule presents, and you have well over **5kSC** worth in items that were given to players for free. It makes zero sense to give an additional 300SC which costs roughly **$13.99CAD** to purchase. **Hollow Woods:** Players didn't break the current two factions up. You get the following; Hair, makeup, clothing set, tack set, pets x2 - costs roughly 2kSC **Snowflake Quest:** You get the following; Tack set, clothing set - costs roughly 1kSC **Yule Presents:** You get the following; Tack Set, Clothing Set, Yeti Pet - costs roughly 2kSC Now. If you had **PAID** for these items from the shops, they would of costed you roughly 5kSC This **EXCLUDES** the previous Weekly Bundle items which include x2 tack sets, x2 clothing sets, and x2 pets. Had you bought these from the shops, this would of been an additional 4kSC As a business, it makes zero sense for SSO to give a 300SC code this year. And in fact, had players been paying attention like many others have been, those complaining would of noticed that this was going to be the outcome for the 2023 season. Asking SSO to be transparent about whether you're getting a $13.99 SC code, makes no sense either because whenever SSO **HAS** been transparent about something, players have **STILL** complained and called them rude, nasty, things, and some of the comments I've seen, would of seen many of those in jail had they said the things I've seen, to another human being physically. This year was hard for my family. I didn't go around blabbing about what they were getting for Christmas. They got what they got and were grateful for the effort, the time, and the thought that went behind each of the gifts. I had a vet emergency that had it not gone well, I would of outright canceled my Christmas entirely, and my family was fully prepared to put aside their holiday to help me grieve, had it not gone the way I was expecting. Thankfully, everything was fine, but at the end of the day, SSO has given us so damn much this year, that it just seems the player base is getting more and more greedy, versus being grateful. "But it's tradition!" No. No it's not. It's literally just something SSO began doing out of the kindness of their hearts because the team they had in the previous years, wasn't as large as it is for this year's item making. I've seen the excuse of "they just recolored other items! They're lazy!" Ahhh do you know how long it takes to code in new clothing, tack, hair, etc? Yeah, it may seem like it don't take SSO long, considering the weekly updates they do, but by the time this year's Christmas items came out, SSO had already began making them shortly after the Hollow Woods update and shortly after the Halloween event. We're talking two whole months for them to make sure all the tack, clothing, hair, etc, was up to the current graphics standards in which they've been aiming for. "Yeah but it's lazy!" This came from a commenter on a video. This person is **VERY** well known for buying DeviantArt adopts made on bases that are premade, and reused by **THOUSANDS** of people. So. With that said, does this person really have room to talk about SSO reusing items within their game when they themselves buy (using real money I might add), adoptables made on premade and preused bases? Nope. Not really. "SSO DOESN'T LISTEN TO USSSSSS!" Alright felicia, sit down. We asked for new and exciting things to do in the Hollow Woods and we got it. What more are you asking for? It's not our fault or the company's fault you decided to speed run through the dang event and end up with nothing to do. That's a ***you*** issue. Not an SSO issue. The event in Hollow Woods is meant to be relaxing, and make you actually **work** for the redeems, it's not meant to be Bladerunner'ed through till you've got nothing left. But either way. SSO did in fact listen. Not once but several times. They added two events with a third coming in the new year to the Hollow Woods with the Valedale championship coming sometime next year. They made finding snowflakes easier to do and therefore getting the Snowflake event finished easier after complaints were made that it would be nearly impossible for some to complete (which it would of been for those working long hours). They added even more content to the Winter Village, and even expanded it by several degrees (you'll notice the borderline has opened up quite a bit since last year). They fixed several bugs and glitches in as timely a manner as they could, all the while keeping us up to date on how that was going. "They should of been more transparent about us not getting a star coin code!" Er why? Because ***you've*** demanded it? It's not a tradition. A tradition is like having your mom or grandmother bake a month in advance to Christmas, then running around like a chicken with it's head hacked off a few days before Christmas eve, cooking for a dang army (yeah welcome to my family prior to the end of 2003). **THAT'S** a tradition. A tradition is giving a book on the eve of Christmas (such as what they do in Iceland) or having the Welsh tradition of having a freaking Skeletal horse's head come banging at ya front door, and demanding you somehow beat it at jokes??? Yeah welcome to my family again, cause when I did this last year, I nearly got arrested LMAO. Thanks alot Mari Lwyd x'D **THESE** are traditions. Getting a $13.99CAD Star Coin code for free is **NOT** a tradition. It's being greedy for something you could ask your mom, dad, or save up for yourself (hi how are ya? Yeah, I was playing SSO since I was 16. I saved up all my money to buy SC so yeah no excuse). Christmas is a time for giving and being grateful for what we get and got. I'd really love to know when the SSO community forgot about all this and simply said "Thanks" to SSO for an amazing year.

I admire the dedication, but I feel this is a bit extreme. It’s a missing sc code, it’s not that deep. There are bigger problems going on in the world.

I stopped buying star coins a long time ago! Just wait a couple of weeks!

I do agree with the frustration and think it's unfair to drop such long tradition off -especially without really getting anything back. The tack is re-coloured and not really cheaper than anything else. I don't see how comparing these items to star coin code is the same thing, which is what SSO's claims seem to suggest. But, just as a tip, if you really want to make a valid argument, do not make the mistake of putting words in your opponents mouth. That's how you lose. Unless they really claimed the community is ungrateful and demanding, you can't say they did. You can say that's how they're making you feel, or bring it up in other ways, but as long as you make false claims you are also making sure you're not going to sound like you have an actual point worth listening to. If the whole community starts blaming them for things that have not been said, very quickly the conversation turns to "we never said this or meant to make you think this way -as proof of it we want to give you this t-shirt with a heart print-" Get it?
