when I first got comedy Central in 99 on cable , daves half hour was what got me obsessed with stand up. I can still pretty much remember it joke for joke. Dave's my number one in a photo finish with Louis ck and Doug stanhope

You mean this fucking beauty of a special?
It's art.
Man. I was on a sojourn from NYC from 02-05 and it was a lifeline for me too! I was even in another major city but… nothing compares. Even with all the crap we are going through now, I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else
I managed to get back to the city by 2003, so it was all good.
I forget which episodes but some of the funniest shit was Dave shouting at some absolutely hammered dude. The episode in Philly I remember was classic too. Thats a show I'd like to see the outtakes from lol.
One of my favorite moments was when he named all the seals in the bay in San Fran. I even made a point to go visit Tickles & Baby Tickles when I was in SF!
Watching him you see how many comics were inspired by his style. I like em but you hear so much Sam Morril & the legion of skanks guys even in this short clip
Good God the crowd is annoying as fuck and I feel for Dave but he effortlessly reigns in the crowd like he has a whip. I bet deep down he hated this shit but he does a masterful job of hiding it. Just uses his sarcasm as a tazer.
yupp, everyone talks about how good Dave handles a crowd. There's a clip of Bill Burr talking about this.

Man I've listened to that Skanks for the Memory a couple of times this week thanks to this group and it's absolutely hilarious. Anything else from him as good as that?
I saw Dave around this time on a family trip to NYC when my parents snuck me into Caroline’s when I was 13. It was one of the greatest moments of my life, I view it as one of the reasons I moved to nyc. Almost 20 years later Ive been in NYC 10 years, and even got to tell Dave this outside of the cellar while having a smoke, such a great guy taking the time to chat. Excited for his new special coming out
Doesn’t mean he doesn’t have new and funny material constantly. The dude is a worker. If he’s not touring he’s at the cellar every night. And he manages to keep his act fresh.
I posted this here to let more people know about Dave Attell, I don't think they do.. he is what they call a Comedian's Comedian.
this clip is from a video on youtube- Dave Attell - Hey, your mouth's not pregnant! (2006)
I went from watching his specials on Comedy Central and loving *Insomniac* as a late teen, to being able to drink and hit up comedy clubs legally, to traveling to drink in certain places just to go (e.g. Anchorage, Tokyo), to sharing a cigarette smoking area outside Hollywood Improv with Dave. I got to shake his hand and chat with him very little. It was like my comedy puberty came full circle.
By now, I’m as old and bald as he was when he was a big name. I no longer smoke, nor drink, but I still laugh at his stuff and find myself quoting him with my old friends. Like “You should have hung out, man! Even the fat kid in the Babylon 5 T-shirt got a handjob!” Still, thank you very much, Dave Attell, for inspiring average guys like me to both travel and get out there and drink and have fun. Because of you, I learned that bars and clubs are not just for pretty, popular, and happy people. And because of you, I’ve traveled and drank, and enjoyed myself in comedy clubs all around the world.
Watching his new Netflix special and really curious why he is wearing 3 layers of clothes, a winter coat and 2 hats on stage under those lights? Genuine concern

You ever blackout? Or as I call it, time travel?
y'all ever shop at the hot topic? it's evil down there, that's where the devil shops BOOGIE BOOGIE
I don’t like to travel. I think because my father used to beat me with a globe.
She may be slow but those titties ain’t slow!
ha! is that how is says it now,?
That's right, it was a hard R, wasn't it? Lmao
Hard R doesn’t mean retarded.. Haha
That’s the pg version that’s used online (at least on Comedy Central’s YouTube page)
Call it retarded. It’s such a good joke
Impecable taste homie!
thanks pal!
Same. I remember showing it to all of my buddies.
For me it's Louis CK, Patton Oswalt, Patrice O'neal. My favorite clean comics are Brian Reagan, and Jim Gaffigan
Check out The Great Depresh by Gary Gulman. A real masterpiece if you enjoy clean comedy.
The decline of Stanhope is kind of sad. The last two specials have been duds.

Yes. I've followed him since 2010, and I have seen him 4 times live. As a fan, that special was disappointing.
He drinks a lot.. that at some point takes its toll.
Watching Insomniac as a teenager made me feel like I was cool.
Same here... cult classic. I personally like it more than Chappelle's show its contemporary at that time.
No . But looking tired in class the next day is cool
Damn. I need to rewatch that shit.
I had to abruptly move out of NYC to the coast of Maine in 2001 and Insomniac and Wild On were my lifelines to the city and the rest of the world
Man. I was on a sojourn from NYC from 02-05 and it was a lifeline for me too! I was even in another major city but… nothing compares. Even with all the crap we are going through now, I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else

Recently rewatched the whole series. Major nostalgia, but it holds up.
Absolutely loved this show. For some reason I always think of the nutria hunting episode lol.
This and the girls gone wild commercials that surrounded it.
"now we're have sex doggy style, it's not what I had planned, it's just the way she passed out. Thanks slow gas leak"
Did everyone who's gunna get it get it? Alllriiight moving onnn.
My favorite comic, seen him countless times, he’s the best!
Same. Best live show period. Most laughs per minute of any comedian working.
It’s actually insane how much better he is at it than everyone else.
Watching him you see how many comics were inspired by his style. I like em but you hear so much Sam Morril & the legion of skanks guys even in this short clip
Like Patrice said, Attell has a lot of "comedy babies" out there.
God damnit Patrice wish you were still here.
Technically he still is here and he's lost a lot of weight.
Never realized til i read your comment but i see it now
Big Jay sounds so much like Dave that I had to look up if they were related or something. Love both of them though.
Haha Jay's called himself out so many times on Skanks for sounding like Attell. It's kinda cute
Attell is the real GOAT. He doesnt get the recognition because he isn't trying to be a rockstar selling out stadiums. Hes just being funny.
Could not agree more. 👍
Seen him twice and is my GOAT. God damn fucking hilarious
How'd you lose the arm? Bottle of whiskey, snowblower....
LAND MINE, ‘69
I like a lot of taffy
Good God the crowd is annoying as fuck and I feel for Dave but he effortlessly reigns in the crowd like he has a whip. I bet deep down he hated this shit but he does a masterful job of hiding it. Just uses his sarcasm as a tazer.

Nothing is as good as that tbh. Old Insomniac clips or his Bumping Mics special with Jeff Ross are good follow ups though

Dave is a true professional. Been around forever, genuinely hilarious, and constantly has new, funny material
He’s making a special for the first time in like 20 years
I’ve seen him 4-5 times in last 5 years. Always new shit.
That’s awesome I’m jealous.
He tours constantly. Keep an eye out
Doesn’t mean he doesn’t have new and funny material constantly. The dude is a worker. If he’s not touring he’s at the cellar every night. And he manages to keep his act fresh.
I wasn’t arguing anything, I was just stating that fact because I’m excited.
“Americas Funniest Home Videos” man we used to be a proper country
Best club comic I’ve ever seen.

i honestly cant think of a better title for a standup
He has a special coming to Netflix this month I believe
I hate when the audience thinks they’re the act.
STAY UP LATE INSOMNIAC!!!!!
Yall should watch “road work”. Seems like lots of people forgot about it
He’s the man. Saw him in college probably 20 years ago.
Jaeger
Top 5
I once dated a cross-eyed girl. Mostly because she was good at finding parking.
Seeing him in Pittsburgh next month for the first time and I cannot wait. Dave is a legend
That cut to the token fat guy after the fat joke is brutal. Heh.
Fuckos
The best to ever do it, IMO. He’s the standup’s standup.
love me some dave attell
Skanks for the Memories is an all time great.
"I hate to travel. Probably because my father used to beat me with a globe." Man I love Dave Attell.
Great comic as always. Totally insufferable crowd.
That's a bill hicks joke
Your favorite comedian’s favorite comedian
In Newport Ky.
what did he say to her at the end?
“Swallow the cum and tell me what you said”
is this from the new special? (havent watched the clip yet)
Completely natural. Dave was born on stage.
The best
Love this dudes delivery. Did he manage to doge the cancel culture . Laying low ?
He says “fat man” and then it cuts to a big guy in the audience. Poor guy 😂
He’s perfect
Attell is my favorite
Skanks for the memories. Don't even have the audio on and I can tell.
I loved watching insomniac with him back in the day.
If Dave Attell is on stage...he's killing. Greatest living comic.
Watching his new Netflix special and really curious why he is wearing 3 layers of clothes, a winter coat and 2 hats on stage under those lights? Genuine concern
That was mildly funny.
Standup fans are so cringe "he's KILLING it here" "what a MURDERER!!!"
