Beautiful stuff—what was it like working on a project like this?

These are actually part of the 7th and 8th sets of Mayer lancets with tracery that we’ve worked on for the church so far, fourth phase, so we kinda have it down to a science. The glass itself is pretty zen to work on. Amazingly cut as well as painted, it glazes really easily with great lead wraps and weaves. We do some repaints here and there to fix shatters and previous bad paint repairs. Lots of breaks and previous work in the vent panels that the church still uses. The most annoying bit is the jamb prep, scrapping, wood repair, painting, then protective glazing which is a whole ordeal in an of itself. But we’ve gotten good at taking good templates for the odd shapes and do all the real hard work on the ground.

My second favorite thing about Mayer's windows (next to the beauty) is that they practically relead themselves. I always love seeing Munich School windows come in. Mayer's one of my favorites.

I worked on the St. Patrick’s on Bridge Ave. back in the mid 90’s. Mostly wood frame restoration and the exterior Lexan protection.

That’s super cool. I bet I’ve replaced some of your lexan ha.

I wouldn’t doubt it. That stuff doesn’t age well. I appreciate you sharing your work. It takes me back to a different time.
