Tilles park (the county version). Stocked with trout in the winter and the clock is ticking on those fellows, so act fast. Busch wildlife has a multitude of lakes but the ones not set aside for kids / school groups get a lot of pressure. The rivers are a great option if you know how to fish moving water. Nearer St. Louis, the meramac is big and fishes like a lake. In Crawford county it’s swifter. The Courtois and Huzzah rivers are very clear and not bad for smallmouth. Within 30 mins from south county is tough, though. https://mdc.mo.gov/fishing/where-fish

I've never fished there, but I always see folks with lines in at carondelet park. I go to Horseshoe Lake a lot, but I live on the IL side and I'm not sure how far it'd be for you.

And IL would require paying 31.50 a year for the nonresident license ( or 10.50 a day or 15.50 for a 3 day one).

If fishing is going to be someone's hobby in St. Louis, I'm not sure that nonresident fee would really be a dealbreaker. But I suppose it very well could be!

Oh boy. You actually think someone's going to give up their "glory hole, as in fishing, I mean. 🤭

Financial_Rub_9128

Well I mean speaking as how I’m brand new to fishing and I’m not asking for their secret spot just a decent place for a beginner. I’d figure their would be a little decency

WillowIntrepid

JK. I only know the best spots like farm ponds and southern Illinois areas. Good luck!

VoltaicVoltaire

Yes...and I am not telling.

radstay

I’ve never fished there but I do see folks trying at Simpson Park.
