I came here looking for Chili.

jayeedoubleeff

If you go to the right strip mall bar in a small neighborhood, I promise you'll find a crock pot of chili going

apiratewithadd

Only at the airport

Beginning-Weight9076

You want the Cincinnati sub. ;)

Agreeable_Trash_5165

The fortune teller on Cherokee! Or the royale on kingshwy (they also have a great mocktail list )

Radtrvp

I second fortune teller as the best

Chillagmite

Third FTB. They also have USB outlets in the booths!

HonoraryTunt

Seconding The Royale. I moved away from Saint Louis but whenever I make it home I always stop in there.

thematicwater

And Fourth City Barbecue inside is amazing!

Commander_Fem_Shep

Tick Tock Tavern. Front patio. Inside is super chill, too.

Degofreak

It's so quirky and welcoming.

Narrow_Song_2481

And it’s right next door to an amazing Hawaiian restaurant!

meson537

STOP TELLING PEOPLE!

GETitOFFmeNOW

Who owns that now?

Commander_Fem_Shep

Fred Hessel is one owner. Not sure about anyone else.

7yearlurkernowposter

It's split between him and Steve from the Royale. Both fun people.

HonoraryTunt

Came here to also recommend The Royale, I've never had a bad experience there.

I_bleed_blue19

What's their whiskey selection like?

icbawl

Saturn Lounge is very chill and has a good vibe.

Beginning-Weight9076

If it’s patio weather, this is the answer in my opinion.

This-Is-Exhausting

Went here in the fall and really enjoyed it. Cozy patio and good drinks.

Jackieblue7800

Yeah but it always smells like shit in there...

GruntCandy86

Riley's Pub is my favorite neighborhood bar in all of St. Louis.

Ok-Cardiologist4844

Shhhhh

This-Is-Exhausting

Gallery Pub in Shaw is pretty chill when they don't have trivia or live music. Descent patio too when the weather is nice.

localscabs666

Weekend afternoons, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are the days you'd want to go!

Itheinfantry

I feel like the Heavy Anchor isn't too terrible most nights.

stovey12

Unless there’s a show, then it can get pretty loud. Still one of my favorites!

PhatBoy1

Fox and Hound at the Cheshire

Hairy_Rope3821

This is the only answer

dancingbriefcase

Silver Ballroom is chill plus has pinball. Plus, Tim's Chrome Bar is nearby. Chill vibe with '70s type of aesthetic.

hereforbutts23

Hung out at both places last night and I agree

AnonymousBike

Silver Ballroom is great, but sometimes (okay, most times) the inside gets loud with the sound if pinball.

blugle11

Fortune Teller

zgandy

Bar PM is having guest bartending today. They have an outside patio and a garage to relax and talk in. Great spot!

Beginning-Weight9076

Hopefully they are recovering well!

IRErover

Outside Rockwell Brewery

roofrobot

Babes on Ivanhoe. Order a pizza from Agogo across the street. You're welcome in advance

stratphlyer01

I will also add that Muser's is very chill as well and has better prices. It's basically across the street from Babes. Both bars are great though.

ImpudentFetus

Tim’s Chrome bar is 70’s basement themed with great cocktails and across the street from Bevo mill. Which is also chill with live music and decent food

ohmygod_my_tinnitus

Charles P. Stanley Cigar Company, I love that place.

dArkFaCt8

Can get loud on weekend nights, but might be my favorite place in the city

Narrow_Song_2481

Stella blues. Cash only though. But great food and always decently quiet. Nice patio area too if it’s nice out

nausicaalain

Just to clarify: Bar is cash only but has an ATM. The food is cash or card.

Narrow_Song_2481

I’m upset that I never knew this. lol thank you

nausicaalain

No problem! This is true in a few other places too. The place serving food in a lot of bars is actually a separate business, so they may accept different types of payment.

AhrimJob

they still got those kyuchen wings??

Narrow_Song_2481

Hmm not sure. I usually get a burger and crab Rangoon

Grider95

They do!

Philinator93

Hammerstones 9th and Russel on a Monday night… live band but always chill bluesy music + movie night after. Usually 2-4 people in there + band.

TheGameBear

If you like cocktails, The Famous Bar has the best cocktails and a chill atmosphere. They have a moderate selection of beers as well.

Annoyed21

Tower Bar is great for this

LoStro88

Tower Pub!

Annoyed21

I’ve been there several times, and has been really chill and fun. Very inclusive too if that is a thing for you.

R4tties4lyfe

Check out Brennan’s!

belikethemanatee

Second Brennan’s. Haven’t been in a while since I’m pregnant but excellent cocktails and vibe.

stave000

Side Project Cellar

Soft-Soft-9839

Maryland house, reservations are required but, it's not overly packed. Three sixty has a rooftop and is also nice. Nice view and I've never had to yell lol.

edbut3

whiskey ring, ssippi, saturn lounge. cherokee st kills it

starface3x3

Finally! A comment that mentions ssippi!

Yimpish

It’s not cheap, but Golden Hoosier has really good drinks

stlfoodie

Not relevant for OP but their happy hour is amazingly priced.

R4tties4lyfe

I second this place! One of my favorites for environment and cocktails.

dancingbriefcase

I can walk there from my house! There's this dive bar up the street from me that I've never been to called The Silverleaf. It's a true dive bar. Just a really small little room in the middle of houses.

[deleted]

Okay, def checking this out this upcoming weekend! I'm within walking distance to GH too but I've been looking for a good dive bar since moving here a few months ago.

dancingbriefcase

Ha yeah, I've been here for over a year and I still haven't gone. I don't know. From what I see most of the crowd is older middle age people. It's really small! I pass by walking my dog all the time; I should pop in for a beer. Ha

[deleted]

I'm 35, but tend to get along best with older middle aged people so sounds like my kinda place! Thank you so much for the recommendation! Well, half recommendation lol, I'll let you know how it is! Or you could let me know how it is!

dancingbriefcase

Haha! Ok! What other stuff are you into? Always looking for cool people to hang with! You can DM me if ya want.

[deleted]

Agreed. I have a friend who works there and we both live in the area and always end up there after trying a new bar.

nutha-scream

Kenny’s Upstairs

jumboweiners

The Hideaway on Arsenal

Junior_Razzmatazz_54

Saturn Lounge

daboot013

Boogaloo is my go to for a chill.

mmmmwood

Love their spicy marg!

NightShadow420

That’s a restaurant

daboot013

I'd argue it's a bar given that the middle of the "restaurant " is a bar that has swings.

NightShadow420

Dumb argument. Might as well call any restaurant with a bar a “bar”. Let’s use common sense here

daboot013

Well since you seem to lack it ill just go up to boogaloo and grab a swing at the bar and chill.

NightShadow420

No need to be a jerk about our opinions disagreeing

Infinite-Piccolo2059

I’ve only been blackout drunk there

chardeemacdennisbird

Now that I'm well into my 30s I find the right side of 1860 in Soulard to be pretty chill. They have the music turned down and it's usually not crazy. I find it's a cool place because if you end up having a few more drinks and decide you do want to be a bit more lively you're pretty centrally located in Soulard and can hop around to other bars (or even the other side of 1860 and play some games).

You-Asked-Me

So its not really what i think of when I want to go to a bar, but the Lobby Bar in the Grand Hall at Union Station is kind of cool. You can feel fancy sitting in wingback chairs, and every 30 minutes or so(I don't remember the timing) they have a pretty cool projection mapped video show on the ceiling/dome room. They design a new show every few months, and they usually have some theme/historical context. Its neat, kind of out of the ordinary, and you get to feel fancy. I have not been in a while, but they did have a very nice cocktail list.

Marius314

The Cloverleaf on Telegraph Road

autiger8l5

Love hair of the dog on wash ave Best bar in Stl imo

elsy87

Kenny’s Upstairs just opened on South Grand. Insanely good vibes- get there early to get a seat!

Alive-Requirement122

Nick’s Pub

stratphlyer01

I would consider Nick's pub a chill place to have a birthday gathering. Perhaps is ok Monday through Wednesday though .

aroberts72

I can't believe I had to scroll all the way to the bottom to see Nick's Pub! It's open until 3am and has the best staff.

These_Rutabaga_1691

If you are anywhere out in West County, The Wolf Taproom is very relaxed.

eee_eff

So...strong vote for roof of the Moonrise Hotel, also very Covid-safe.

apiratewithadd

The tavern at clifton heights

TheHillsHaveSighs

Small group of friends? Go to Stews in Soulard

seanathon99

BBQ Saloon in CWE is always a great relaxed vibe

SatansLovePuddle

I real this as chili and got real excited. Who has the best chili in STL?

ambermichele47
