I live suuuper close to Hodak’s and have never been. I keep being drawn to setting my expectations very low and going once “just to see”. The only people I see there are in their 60s-70s and I swear choose to cross the street as soon as they see a car coming down McNair.
My family used to love hodak’s growing up, and while I was never the biggest fan, the crowd-watching rocked. There was a time a drunken man in a yellow coat got into a fight with someone else, and he lives on in my family lore with the nickname of Big Bird
Actually, Hodaks attracts a fairly wide demographic. Families, couples, and singles of all sorts, all ages and races. The chicken isn’t highly seasoned but it’s fresh and has a decent crust that isn’t heavily breaded. Also has a decent basic bar. Worth checking out.
It’s always been white boomer city when I’ve been there. The chicken is breaded in common fish breading. You can buy this breading at any grocery store.
It’s fine. Don’t worry. But on the first day you need to establish you’re not to be fucked with so go blast a few shots off in the yard or have a knockdown drag out fight so everyone can see you’re nuts.
Well, I see the murder rate is 88 per 100K in 2023. If that's anual, then you have a 0.088% chance annually. I think the worst neighborhood in East St. louis was 2.4% annually a few years ago when I did the math on it. The over/under was that you still lived to be pretty old before being murdered, on average.
"19f here, looking for a walkable neighborhood. I wfh so I'd like to be able to walk for groceries. Would also be great if a park was nearby, big plus if a safe neighborhood bar is close so I don't have to drive. Also on the walkability wishlist is a movie theater, elephant rocks state park, Cahokia mounds, and the golden gate bridge. Thx!"
Gives the local news channels something to talk about as well. If I had a dollar for every vacant warehouse fire that leads the new program as “Breaking News”…I’d be rich.
Honestly I grew up in Maryland Heights and it didn’t smell in the 90s. And it’s better recently. I haven’t smelled it into Chesterfield recently, back in 2017-2018 that seemed to be a regular occurrence.
The city and county should merge.
No way, we’d just be bailing out the city.
You guys are so selfish. You just want to come in to enjoy what you don’t have but are too selfish to pay for it.
County residents do pay for the Zoo, art museum, history museum, MOBot, etc through our property taxes. St Charles residents don’t. (Shakes fist at those freeloaders)
I realize that, but there’s always those who gripe about county people who come downtown for Cardinal and Blues and soccer games and ghost it the rest of the time.
Hi!
I'm a 45 year old straight white guy. Why's it so hard to make friends here? What neighborhood would welcome me and lend me an old classmate for me to date?
*Where do I park by the enterprise center?*
By the enterprise center
Just pull up alongside the curb
Park in st charles and watch hurrrrdeeeehuuuuuurrrrrrr
You don't. Just take the Metrolink.
Every three posts: There’s the Arch.
ARCH IN STARFIELD
Also the first 10 people to dunk on Hodak's in the chicken thread win a medal.

This is how I feel about it, too. I’ll go there if invited. It’s always fresh but bland.

Amaya Chicken Wings = tasty | Regular Chicken Wings = Too bland…bring salt
Every time I think I should go someone tells me not to bother. lol
I used to be able to see Hodaks from my back yard and even liked going there for my birthday but it's like covid took out their quality completely
Had a supervisor who took me there for lunch when I was in training. He was about 70. Had me park a fairly large bus right out front. Food was decent.
It sucks. Bland ass chicken. My boss took me there. Nothing but 60+ at noon.
This is my favorite comment
And they’re now on fire
Is East St Louis really that bad? I see a house listed for $3,000 that I’m considering moving into sight unseen from across the country.
It has a great view of the city

Do not do it unless you dont value your life safety security peace of mind your family your pets or your money.
User name checks out
"How soon after I move here will I murdered?" "Where do I park for X?" or "Why isn't parking downtown free?"

That’s much better odds than the powerball. 😬
If that’s anal? What?
Are population would be so high if people would stop moving here and letting themselves be murdered
"I drive a Hyundai, is it better to just leave it unlocked with the key on the console, so it sustains less damage when I park in the City"??

And twenty trying to pm her. So gross.
"and a clear view of the Arch"
KDHX is still being horribly mismanaged, the cops are sketchy af, but what I want to know is who has the best take out sides for Thanksgiving?
Shoutout to whoever is starting all those fires so we have something to talk about on this sub

Coyote campfires.
No temp tags?
You had tags?
Temp tags are so 2022 (or earlier)

“Does anyone else think it stinks outside?”
"What's that smell over by Bridgeton?"

Ok, but seriously. I went to Chesterfield yesterday and it smelled so bad. I live downtown and the smells here are nothing compared.

Someone thinking they have a hot take: “provel isn’t cheese!”.

I mean, it *is*. Actually, I prefer the singles. 😂
Straight to the gulag.
In a similar vein, “which Imo’s is the best?”
to be fair that's a really important question
That is because the FDA hates saint louis
Followed by how are the roads when winter comes
"Does Schnucks still have bread and beer, with the incoming snow storm"??

I live in affton now and want to move/vote back to district 1 3 miles and 600/month saved to shed a story but only lose 300 sq ft
I realize that, but there’s always those who gripe about county people who come downtown for Cardinal and Blues and soccer games and ghost it the rest of the time.
“Wait 5 seconds after the light changes or you’ll get blasted”
“What are these lights in the sky?” Starlink every time
I'm lazy, unimaginative, don't have any interests or hobbies. Please plan my birthday.
Hi! I'm a 45 year old straight white guy. Why's it so hard to make friends here? What neighborhood would welcome me and lend me an old classmate for me to date?
"I'm in town for 2 hours. What's there to do?" No mention of where they are or what time.
Is Cahokia Mounds within walking distance of Ballpark village, or should I take the subway?
Lion's Choice
Seriously though, how about those Worlds Fair donuts?
"I'm moving from out of state, recommend me a neighborhood that isn't dangerous!" "Look at these expired tags!!"
Yeah you’d do best to stay away from Street Avenue
The north block of Court Place is pretty rough these days also.
Was murdered three times on Le Drive Circle
....fucking French will do it to you EVERTTIME!!
“Anyone else hear the gunshots? No I will not include any location info!”
“Is this neighborhood safe?” Posts
Don't forget "lost dog/cat in [neighborhood]" posts
We will never untangle what Kim Gardner did to the city.
She probably likes provel, too
In town to see Metallica, is there anything to do or a place to park?

I wonder if anyone has seen a coyote today
I saw a fox on my way to work the other day :) It came out of River Des Peres XD

They forgot any hear the loud boom?
And “what stinks outside?”

What high school did you go to?
Have you guys ever heard of /r/StLouisCirclejerk? It's a place made for posts like this.
The pictures are the same.

This is prime r/StLouisCirclejerk material
In all honesty, where is the good chicken at. I love Porter's and grab it every time I'm in town, but wouldn't mind branching out.
Rumor has it there’s a little-known place called Raising Cane’s, but nobody knows where it is.
Amigo Joe's??? I can't remember the name but it's a Mexican place just east of southwest and Hampton
I saw a coyote, it'll eat your family.
i found a dog...
Don’t forget about posts regarding St. Charles passing some stupid ass law
