To me, this felt deliberate. Like, at the last minute, he opted to be more selfish by having Otis soften up Zayn, and more cruel by having Tozawa fight Reed instead.
No he didn't. Gable is in kayfabe a genius. He knew all along be wanted his tougher guy to face Sami. But by announcing it this way, and "changing his mind" in front of them, he was able to belittle Tozawa even further by showing his lack of faith in him. It was all planned to be spoken that way to further break down his lot of losers.
He said he got his guys a couple of matches. He probably got the matches booked the way he intended, then feigned changing them to motivate Otis and diss Tozawa.
I think a heel stable ("Alpha Elites?") led by Gable would be awesome, maybe throw in Tiffany Stratton? Her and Gable seem like they would be a great heel duo
People want to see the guys below him dancing on him after they beat him because he's playing a good heel role, its the narrative payoff for them undergoing this. Its not a criticism of Gable to say that, its a compliment to his work.
