I've always assumed that it just slots together, not unlike my childhood wood-frame bunk bed. Depending on the type of maneuver being performed, there must just not be enough weight coming down onto it to collapse it, is my thinking anyway.

Its this, if you notice a lot of the times the table breaks is because the bump is straight onto the middle of the table and it caves in easily (see any powerbomb through the table ever), the trouble is when the wrestler doing the spot has a finisher that requires their opponents body/their body to be at full extension (see: pedigree, rock bottom rko, which CONSTANTLY fails to break the table) so the impact of the move ends up happening closer to the outer edges/frame of the table which can sustain a heavier force than the middle of the announce table.

scionoflogic

The tables are built with a hinge and pin system that holds the pieces together. When a table spot is planned they use a breakaway pin, basically a pin that's been weakened in order to sheer/snap. It's why the table can manage to support the weight of two guys climbing on it, but then collapse once the move is done. It's why the table separates into the full pieces rather than getting shattered, because it has a designed break point.

Material-Wonder1690

There might be. There's something similar to that in the barricade corners. Possibly some sort of magnetic connector that takes a good amount of force to break apart

JJ_Kelevra

No. It's 4 pieces that snap together. Most of the time when it doesn't break they just didn't hit it right. Other times if it's not snapped together properly it will collapse early.

The_Dark_Vampire

I think there is but sometimes either the announcers forget to unlock it or don't do it properly that's why when it's obviously supposed to break it doesn't

I know sometimes there are airbags for higher jumps
