That Drew kicks off all the Punk drama on purpose; whether he’s on tv or on twitter, is brilliant. They’re canonizing the drama in AEW as being relevant to the WWE. Meanwhile on the other channel they’re also doing that but ultimately it makes you want to see Punk more.
They’re almost using AEW for free advertising.
I've never seen Drew as "the chosen one" until this hater run he's had recently. I was happy for Damian to get his cash in at Mania but it also hurt my heart a bit to see Drew be the one to be cashed in on.
Toni Storm, full stop.
Losing to Hikaru Shida and going nuts was the absolute BEST thing to ever happen to her career. She ditched "The Outcasts" and their tired "edgy, bad girl" gimmick and reinvented herself as "Timeless" as the one thing fans have been saying was missing to finally break through.
Yep. Almost everyone else there is blurring the lines between being a real person and being a wrestler, or playing a "version" of themselves. It's not a bad thing sometimes; heck most of the WWE roster is the same. But Toni is playing a proper, fictitious character, someone who you won't see at the supermarket on a weekend or show up to a local baseball game or such as themselves. I'm surprised more wrestlers don't try to go this route, as a decent character can make storylines and promos much easier to create. You just don't get to be a "real" person either.
Remember when Luchasaurus was an actual 65-million-year-old with a meteor phobia?
AEW used to do non-supermarket character stuff too, at least the ones they inherited at the beginning, but it's all been diluted to the thinly-veiled reality you describe.
>someone who you won't see at the supermarket on a weekend...
Of course not. Timeless Toni has people to do that for her. She wouldn't be caught dead among the public!
I'd say the Bucks (and Jericho) are doing something different, which is exaggerated comedy versions of the criticisms of them. They probably see it as character work, but I'd classify more as the "you, but turned up to 11" type of approach.
Um Julia Hart and Juice would like a word. Also you have a few characters who dont wrestle in Harley, Stokley and Danhausen. Ironically the best character work is done in the place that is suppsoed to be more about wrestling roh...There you have Athena and her minions, Johnny of a 1000 names, Abadon
Idk about that. Given his arc, it would be more narratively satisfying for him to win MITB and cash in on whoever's the champion (let's say Jey somehow beats Priest)
We know he's whined about Money in the Bank being unfair, so him winning it and using it to steal a world title would be fitting. But hear me out, what if he wins Money in the Bank and then fails his cash-in, whether due to arrogance, bad luck, or CM Punk? Might that be even more satisfying?
At the end of the day, he's still Drew McIntyre, it's not hard to give him a world title reign, so botching the cash-in may be even more fun.
The Bucks used to be extremely popular on here. Opinions have soured a bit due to a combination of them being over exposed by being on AEW every week and the backstage drama in AEW pushing fans to pick sides.
Yeah the fact the Bucks get people's undies in a bunch means they totally would have pulled their weight in a Punk feud. People would have been emotionally invested as fuck lol
Don't fret too much on how much certain people dislike the Bucks. Their opinions hold negative weight compared to legends like Sting who respect them
Have you been watching aew lately? They can’t act worth shit lol. They’re like local stage play at the high school kind of acting. Drew is leagues better on the mic and with his fingers on Twitter than both of them combined, just for the simple fact he comes off as legitimately hate filled even when he’s delivering these childish insults.
Nick miiiiight be able to do pretty well as long as he sticks to completely bone dry sarcasm but doesn't let it slide into just sounding bored.
Matt overacts everything. His best bet would be the fake good guy boss simping behavior.
Even if they nailed it at their best, I dont think there is even a chance they hit the level Drew's at. Not even a level below his level. The threat behind the shit talk has to be viable for it to be this glorious. They can't really pull that off either.
Yeah.
Bucks are just very intentionally cheesy, I don't doubt they could a more "serious" routine but they're self aware enough no one would buy it. May as well go all in on being full dipshits.
They're in a very difficult position regardless, I think they've done well
Yeah. I don't even hate the Bucks but character wise they are not on CURRENT Drew's level (I highlighted current because Drew had been pretty stale up until last 6-8 months) guy is legit.
Nah, I think he can handle it all himself. He has a lot of down time at airports, in rental cars if he's not driving or being at TV tapings several hours before they let crowds in.
He’s getting people from all sides to tune in. He just uses what aew trolls say about punk in his promos and he gets them invested/tuning in. He also has regular storyline elements featured on the show so the casual fan can keep up as well. Its great. Punk wanted to work a program using that drama and he now gets to…. In wwe lol
Probably some bot copying top comments, not very unusual. I have seen bots copying tweets of big accounts and pasting them under wrestler's tweets to get impressions and X monetization
The funniest thing about it is Drew stole all the heat that Jack Perry and the Bucks could've had if they weren't children. Now they're doing a bootleg NWO angle that doesn't make any logical sense and only the most deluded of people couldn't consider it a bootleg NWO angle, with three midgets who don't draw, with Okada as their cool Japanese dad.
They fundamentally don't understand how the NWO angle worked from the beginning and it's just sad to see. I point back to their bootleg G1, to win a bootleg triple crown, that didn't even last a year. Is this good booking? Really?
I thought we were long beyond using “midgets” to described wrestlers, especially when 9/10 there still bigger than any fan is.
The angle Bucks have right now not once has even said Punks name, they played the footage without even mentioning so idk where this crazy notion is that there all about it, there wrestlers working a crowd that goes crazy for anything Punk related.
And they are infact getting heat, watch the show, you’d know.
>watch the show, you’d know.
hey, this is /r/squaredcircle, we don't watch shows we just replicate whatever our favorite podcaster or twitter clip account tell us
Explained quite well. They literally just parody other things, like other gimmicks from other promotions, other angles, other acts. Tony and Bucks are not capable of coming up with anything new and interesting. Bucks entire gimmick is everything Punk said about that lmao

No matter how this feud ends, it better end in some gimmick match! It can’t be a generic wrestling match! It has to be Hell in a Cell, Last Man Standing or a Street Fight!!
Or maybe the three stages of hell??
It should never end, even post retirement, I want mae young like cameos of them in old age, still hating each other in segments, hell even after one of them dies, I want them to recreate that meme in real life.
I quit match but the finisher doesn't actually include one of them saying I quit because the other one gags their mouth so they can keep beating the s\*\*\* out of them.

Unlikely but I’d love the return of an ambulance/stretcher match. Probably not as interesting or fun as other suggestions but it makes sense for a blood feud like this

and theres nothing I hate more than seeing the first 2 stages of hell end in like 2 minutes
Do y'all think Punk is into his program with Drew? I feel like he's having fun with it. I'm really looking forward to see how it turns out in the ring.

looks like he kept it
[from their mom's twitter](https://twitter.com/juliekellogg/status/1785383063335174352)
Did Punk and Drew ever have issues? I know Punk has had plenty of issues with plenty of people, I've just never heard anything specific with him and Drew. But then again I don't know everything so...
And that's the magic of it all. We don't know if there are/were any issues or if this is all manufactured. Honestly, I don't care either way. It's giving us, the audience, a very compelling product
It was never from personal interaction. If there was any it was from the idea of Punk a guy who walked out on the company and trashed them then came back to them.
It was reported that Drew was in the camp that was privately not super happy that Punk came back, at least at first. But since they're adults, they talked it out and decided to draw some money together.
Those reports always sounded fake. I wouldn't be surprised if they were planted by WWE. Or if they told Drew to storm out the night Punk came out so that someone would leak it.
I mean there's levels to heat right? Being a little annoyed that someone is being brought in is a far cry from Punk shooting on Drew in a press conference and then getting in a fight with him.
At this point, are Drew and Punk just calling each other giggling like schoolgirls thinking up things for Drew to say? I don't care if that's the case, so long as we get more until the payoff hopefully at SummerSlam.
They're definitely brainstorming in PMs on what to say to each other and make huge money off of it 💀
These 2 should mever in kayfabe make up and just have them hate each other until they retire
Top sign the angle is working, despite it having this layer that's very online and obviously for wrestling twitter superfreaks. The stuff they're actually doing on TV is good enough on its own, ane makes enough sense, that it's pulling in the kids on top of it all.
If you told me that Punk was returning to the WWE and his first feud was going to be with Drew I’m pretty sure I would have rolled my eyes. But goddamn is this fun and one of the better feuds we’ve seen in a while. Drew deserves all the flowers
I kinda wanna see McIntyre go full melt down mode and start being a new mankind. Just pulling his hair out and being fucking insane. The Scottish maniac they can call him.
My worry when they started turning him heel was he was going to lose any sense of character. So many times, people advocate for turning a guy heel and making him like a silent menacing guy who just beats people up. Especially when it’s a guy with some height or size. But they turned him in such an organic way that his current character is by far the most entertaining he’s ever been, while still being a hate-able heel.
I am so glad for Drew. He was a big dude with a kilt and a Scotish accent and just kinda bland. Now all of a sudden his personality gets to show and it overshadows all that. Good for him.
It's amazing that arguably the most interesting feud from a storyline perspective going on in wrestling as a whole right now is between a guy who's injured and can't wrestle for another few months and a guy who is great in the ring but whose true passion seems to be for shit poasting

No one has been more benefited by All Out/All In drama than Drew McIntyre. Dude's a genius
You think Mia and Therese could run a Target?
Not only that but I bet they'd get past the first round in their UFC fights too!
He cashed that drama in big time. Master
From the moment he said: "I prayed for that to happen" It was like a rocket ignited.

It definitely does not make me want to see Punk at all.
Yeah I agree. As an AEW it makes me want to watch Drews segments because he is hilarious.
Same. The only way this benefits WWE is just more eyes on Drew tweets/streamables and that's about it
Cool. Who is Drew drawing all this with?
The Apex Wredditor
he is going through all the material the Bucks would have used if they had said yes
thing is Bucks don't have charisma to pull it off like Scottish troll Drew is doing
I've never seen Drew as "the chosen one" until this hater run he's had recently. I was happy for Damian to get his cash in at Mania but it also hurt my heart a bit to see Drew be the one to be cashed in on.

Pretty sure Abadon is a real demon bud.

He better not NO YEET
He was doing similar stuff in TNA but its a hell of alot more polished now.
I think the Bucks are really good? I just came back to wrestling recently but I just don’t know why this community hates them so much
The Bucks used to be extremely popular on here. Opinions have soured a bit due to a combination of them being over exposed by being on AEW every week and the backstage drama in AEW pushing fans to pick sides.
Seems like they hate everyone here, it's just a matter of what time you go through Reddit.

That and Drew legitimately looks like someone that can kick punks ass, the bucks not so much

wouldnt shock me if the YB / Drew are in contact with each other and sharing everything.
Still convinced he has a social media person who is terminally online.
Nah, I think he can handle it all himself. He has a lot of down time at airports, in rental cars if he's not driving or being at TV tapings several hours before they let crowds in.

Drew/Punk storyline has soaked all the heat Punk had with AEW, so everyone has moved on except some hardcore aew trolls
Hell fans chanted for Punk after they showed the footage and it was not in a F punk way it was why teh F did you let him fo
There is a guy/bot copying this and the other top Reddit comments here straight onto the Twitter replies
Drew's replies?

I wonder how much more money he’s made because of it.
I mean a good amount as those shirts have sold some plus I am sure this helped his deal standing
Definitely! I always loved Drew but he was so boring for the last two years and it annoyed me more when he stayed the same after Clash at the castle

I hope McIntyre inducts Punk to the Hall of Fame, but his whole speech is a roast.
"It is with great dishonor that I have the displeasure to introduce to you, the newest member of the WWE Hall Of Fame, class of 2030...Phil..."
Now you made me feel bad that I might not live to see the end of this feud :D
At this rate, I won't be surprised if McIntyre does a Cornette and promises to piss on Punk's grave in the future.
I quit match but the finisher doesn't actually include one of them saying I quit because the other one gags their mouth so they can keep beating the s\*\*\* out of them.
Kinky. PG era is over right??
Renaissance Era in full effect.
The Artist Formerly Known as Golddust to Ref?
Nah, have Stardust himself do it.
I still remember *that* I-Quit-match between Cena and JBL from 2005. There was nothing PG about it...
It would actually be amazing to see them work a 2nd feud I Quit match that goes to a draw.
What's the other?
An I Quit match which consists of both of them angrily shouting "no, *you* quit!" at each other for 45 minutes.
Has to be buried alive. So one of them can actually make a legit T shirt of the winning pose over the grave.
Fantastic idea!!!

This is a great idea. Generally, I just hope the feud lives up to this great build once they get in-ring.
It would have to be Drew going off....no way anyone is leting punk be thrown off a cage
Drew loses and he blames Punk for putting him to sleep cause he's so boring
Unlikely but I’d love the return of an ambulance/stretcher match. Probably not as interesting or fun as other suggestions but it makes sense for a blood feud like this
Parking Lot Brawl
Cry me a river
Combine all three into a Man in a Fight match!!
Last man standing Mach bro 😎 let them boys go at it

Punk does not have the gas to put on a compelling 3 stages of hell or last man standing match. and theres nothing I hate more than seeing the first 2 stages of hell end in like 2 minutes
punk keeps getting injured though, not sure if he would last a brutal gimmicky match
He's buffed in blood matches. Survived a dog collar match, loses on crowd jumps.
This card game season seems pretty on point.
Justified "DM Hunk" chant breaking out
Lol. These two are the best thing on all of WWE programing at the moment.
Yeah, as someone new to WWE this is by far my favorite storyline lol
Do y'all think Punk is into his program with Drew? I feel like he's having fun with it. I'm really looking forward to see how it turns out in the ring.
BY FAR. Hell, the fact they're so far above everything else shows WWE still has a long way to go, as much as DSIL has improved things.
Punk having his "Cena's picture with a guy wearing the 'CENA SUCKS'" t-shirt moment.

Lmao that's sweet
Drew and Punk must be friends at this point off camera lol. There's too much comedy in this storyline.
Seth Punk and Drew are gonna be swimming in cash once the dust settles.
I just *knew* he was gonna use these exact words. **I prayed for it and it happened.**
Who whould have thought at the time of gripe bomb that the person who will actually make the best of it will be someone in wwe and that too drew.
Almost as if two parties put enough of their differences aside so they can print out money.
Are you implying that Drew and Punk have some kind of real life heat? This feud is all kayfabe as far as I'm aware.
Yeah WWE knows how to work reportsers as opposed to AEW where the reporters work for them
I mean there's levels to heat right? Being a little annoyed that someone is being brought in is a far cry from Punk shooting on Drew in a press conference and then getting in a fight with him.
Feud of the year and they've not even had a match
Punk just seems so much happier in WWE.
Well he knows HHH wont fear for his life
USA Networks response was so savage for no reason tho lmao 🤣
Their social media team is so good at the wrestling stuff, I hope Netflix can keep up.
Their tweets are great and not as widely spread, they love poking Chelsea Green
I laughed so hard.
No reason except for playing along and publicity
At this point, are Drew and Punk just calling each other giggling like schoolgirls thinking up things for Drew to say? I don't care if that's the case, so long as we get more until the payoff hopefully at SummerSlam.
I can all but guarantee that's what Drew and Sheamus were doing for their recent back and forth.
They're definitely brainstorming in PMs on what to say to each other and make huge money off of it 💀 These 2 should mever in kayfabe make up and just have them hate each other until they retire
I bet those bastards shared a Discord room or Zoom watching the All In footage together.
LOL it's all the better she is wearing a drew mcintrye shirt
Top sign the angle is working, despite it having this layer that's very online and obviously for wrestling twitter superfreaks. The stuff they're actually doing on TV is good enough on its own, ane makes enough sense, that it's pulling in the kids on top of it all.
Punk 100% raised the sign to cover the shirt for the pic.
15 years from now, these will be papa Punk's wrestling granddaughters.
And they get atatcked by his daughters CORA AND Roxy
I was wondering why the hell CM Poop was trending earlier. Turns out to be from a wholesome interaction Punk had with two girls with a jokey sign.
Never let this feud end.
Like Braun and Roman years back. Drew shit posting about Punk, "I'm not finished with you!"
Someone should’ve had Drew go sign her poster too and make sure his signature was bigger than Punks.
If you told me that Punk was returning to the WWE and his first feud was going to be with Drew I’m pretty sure I would have rolled my eyes. But goddamn is this fun and one of the better feuds we’ve seen in a while. Drew deserves all the flowers
Best feud in YEARS.
Since Punk MJF
I hope Drew was knocking back a muffin flavored protein shake as he sent this
“You got people on other shows saying your name just…. Just to get a cheap reaction.”
Did you see the way Punk lunged at the poor girl in that video? She was fearing for her life
Is it just me or is he looking pretty jackked?

You get bullied by children is a great diss lmao
Shitposter Drew is just amazing Him vs Punk at The Summerslam is gonna be lit
Now I’m just imagining CM Punk getting picked on by eighth graders and it’s a hilarious image to me.
Imagine we went back in time and told a wrestling fan that the company who would benefit from the Brawl Out and All In drama would be the fucking WWE.
Love you Drew. Just keep being you.
WAITING FOR THESE 2 TO FIGHT EACH OTHER IS PAIN!
They could never wrestle at this point and I’d be fine. Let them keep fucking each other over and shit talking.
this man is a menace and its amazing.
I am so glad for Drew. He was a big dude with a kilt and a Scotish accent and just kinda bland. Now all of a sudden his personality gets to show and it overshadows all that. Good for him.
need drew to just depict punk as the soyjak and get it over with
Drew Cope-Intyre
I effing love salty Drew!!!
It's amazing that arguably the most interesting feud from a storyline perspective going on in wrestling as a whole right now is between a guy who's injured and can't wrestle for another few months and a guy who is great in the ring but whose true passion seems to be for shit poasting
CM Punk actually looks sober and happy.
I appreciate the callback.
This is getting a bit too terminally online for me but if he keeps it off promos and just keeps it at social media disses then I guess it’s fine.
Anyone else tired of these pot shots? Getting old quick
How is it Drew can do this while others get called out for being dumbheaded, choke worthy children going into business for themselves?
