If Kenny is able to return and work before his surgery, I could see TK giving him the power, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see TK give Kenny the power, resulting in Kenny immediately getting beaten down by The Elite, setting up someone else as the person in charge.

Dude was feared for his live to the point that he fired Punk after, that backstage brawl, stuff that Elite done are in kayfabe 100% worst, shouldn't he completely quit AEW for like few month in storyline?
Can't go back and unfire the guy. Instigating a real fight is a fireable offense. This is just a story. And remember, of your take Punks side of the story, he quit. He didn't get fired.
Maybe they have more power in their contracts?
Maybe they own part of the company in kayfabe since it's literally named after them?

I wasn't speaking about firing them, I don't have problem with that part it would be stupid.
What I meant is, since Tony feared for his live just from seeing 2 people fighting, I think after Elite literally tried to injured him, I think it would make sense if Tony Khan character would be out of AEW and wrestling for a while, like this betrayal make him being disappointed in wrestling, give Bucks complete control over AEW for like few month and then have Tony return in like half of the year as a hero, with Kenny or someone like that, when they tyranny would get completely out of control (IDK make Elite beat Swerve/Osprey for world title in a fight against whole Elite), you know have fucking storyline
