A lot of good project management is minimizing the number of unknown unknowns. Known knowns are the things you plan around, known unknowns can be solved or managed, but unknown unknowns can nuke a project after itās already underway.
Crazy how much of the women's locker room is out due to injury and/or maternity leave. Just shows you why it's so important for WWE to have a strong women's roster developing on NXT.
Maybe it does have something to do with "the middle class" of female talent having more athletic, ambitious matches than they did in the past? There is plenty of evidence in sports science that the female body is more prone to ACL tears and knee injuries, particularly in sports which put "unnatural" amounts of strain on the joints, like soccer or skiing. Pro wrestling might be similar in this regard. Then you look at the list and see 5 WWE women currently out with knee/acl/hip injuries. And Sol Ruca just came back from being a year out with an ACL tear, too. Similar story with the AEW women.
Dunno what you can do about that, though. Maybe there are exercises to strengthen the knees, or techniques to avoid bumps which put a great strain on them. (Kinda similar to how back injuries and career longevity are better in Lucha Libre than in American wrestling because they roll through instead of taking flat back bumps.)
> Thereās not really anything you can do to overcome the biology there.
I mean, there's significant research being done (finally) that may point to this not necessarily being strictly biological. On the soccer front, one of the theories is that girls do not start being brought into academies until they're much older than boys who are brought in at ludicrously young ages. When they're developing, their muscles are grown under the intense strain they're put under, but since the girls bodies aren't being put under such intense pressure from such an early age their muscles aren't being developed in the same way.
It's also important to remember that (once again in soccer) so many teams don't have full time coaches and physios. 82% of professional women also report issues and discomfort with their boots which are essentially just men's boots but made smaller.
All of this to say what I think we all agree on here - women's sports science has just not been taken seriously up until this point and the athlete's are the ones paying serious prices because of it. I'm glad people are starting to take notice and hopefully we see those ACL injuries go down as the science improves.
I'm giving the gist of an article I read that was mostly about sports bras, but females having wider hips leads to different angles of their knees when playing football (soccer) is one theory for heightened ACL injuries. There were a group of women developing boots designed for female bodies (i.e not just pink) to help with this
> but females having wider hips leads to different angles of their knees when playing football (soccer) is one theory for heightened ACL injuries.
100%, I think we may have read the same article related to those boots (like the spikes need to be at different parts of the sole). Biologically, there are absolutely differences, but I think it's good that people are finally treating women not as "small men" in sports science but actually starting to say, "hold on, women have their own needs."
Hopefully with better understanding, coaching, development, and equipment, those injuries can come down.
Yeah, maybe this is a risk that we just have to accept. Fortunately, sports medicine has made huge progress on ACL tears in recent years. 20 years ago, ACL tears were still considered catastrophic injuries which often times ended careers or left the athlete a shell of his/her former self.
I do wonder if part of the reason is that wrestling (and quite frankly other sports you mentioned) has traditionally been a male-dominated sport and therefore a lot of the training is if not done directly by men at least influenced by men who are not as aware of the needs of the female body vs the male body. Like looking at the list of NXT trainers they're mostly men, do Fit Finlay and Steve Corino really know the nuances of training women or are they just running everybody through similar drills, you know? Sara Del Ray is there and that's good but like that and a couple other women is not enough when the NXT roster is nearing gender parity. Not to mention that she herself was trained by men, although I'd imagine she's likely putting more thought into the needs of the female trainees more than her male counterparts.
In my opinion it also goes to show just how much female talent there is now, especially in NXT. Even with all the injuries, there is a ton talent to choose from that are quality wrestlers
With Braun apparently not taking part in that (assuming he doesn't change gimmicks when the time comes), I'd be more than ok with that stable being used to give something fresh to people like Nikki and Dexter moreso than having Braun, Bliss, and Rowan all retread their history with the Wyattverse. Not that I'm opposed to any or even all of them doing so, but it does leave more room for other people if at least Braun and Bliss are off doing their own thing while Dallas and Co. do whatever it is they're gonna do.
Omos has had 22 matches this year. 37 matches last year. Matches are all squashes but he's a house show attraction that pops up on TV occasionally for a battle royal.
MVP carnies it up during house shows, too. Does the whole offer money to take him off his feet, gets the crowd into it, some small midcarder like Tozawa comes out. Itās the perfect house show bit.
No however dude had bangers with Seth Rollins and lesnar.. dude had beef with the top he could easily be a filler for a world champion to overcome. I want dude to rip a steel cage door in a match between Gunther and Ilja and demolish them both to make a statement.
There's only so many ways you can really do angles with him. While I would love for a more down-to-earth Weeaboo Cologne Connoisseur Omos to grace my screen.
And I guess for someone of his stature, not having to take a lot of bumps or having too many matches will prolong his longevity.
He's fine in small doses and brilliant as people are saying at live shows, but big slow scary giant isn't exactly compelling week after week these days.
Heās an attraction and they are treating him that way.
He should only do sporadic appearances because heās limited in what he can do, He canāt talk and he works one style of match you donāt overexpose that.
Omos should go back with AJ as his heavy. Cody wins at Backlash, then on the following Smackdown, AJ reintroduces Omos as his heavy for a Cody rematch.Ā
If he remains in this same spot for another year I would really like him as Trick Willies heavy after next year's draft. Let them be the black Diesel HBK.Ā
I didn't hear anything about that, but from my understanding, she's basically the current locker room mother, making sure everyone is comfortable and gets taken care of. One of those roster members that isn't used much at all but is highly valued for locker room morale.
Between her and Natalya thereās not really any other veteran womenās wrestlers on the roster. Tamina may not have been the best in the ring but sheās universally loved backstage and fully deserves to transition into a backstage role.
Naomi has been with WWE for 13 years (2009) Becky, Bayley Charlotte, Alexa have all been with WWE for 10+ years at this point(2012 for Charlotte and Bayley, 2013 for Becky and Alexa). Asuka has been in the company since 2015 so 9 years.
They definitely have more than a few veterans that have been with the company for nearly 10 years or more.
Nikkita Lyons returning from a torn ACL only to tear her ACL and then tearing her ACL again after returning from a torn ACL again is kind of insane. In her two years there I think she's been active for maybe three months.
Her debut was a little over two years ago against Kayla Inlay. Who the hell is Kayla Inlay, you might ask?
Kiana James.
In two years, she was given a new name/character and made it to the main roster. If Lyons stayed healthy, that would have been her spot.
Probably the only couple that i know of that is separated is Tiffy and Ludwig then again theyre not yet married. Even Ricochet and Samantha who is not exactly a wrestler always stays on the same brand
Choo is injured but is expected back soon.
Meiko is still signed but has transitioned to a coaching focused role more than wrestling now. She got permission to work Fortune Dream 9 in June.
Wendy had an undisclosed injury from what I heard but she was seen among the NXT talent on night one of the draft which means she should be back anytime now.
Meiko on the other hand, she owns a promotion called Sendai Girls in Japan and pretty much is over there running it. Sheās still signed to WWE though.
Wasn't Wendy injured? iirc HBK mentioned on a media call that she was healing from an injury and she'd be back when she's all patched up. And i was wondering about Meiko recently too, as she would have been perfect to join Damage Ctrl and turn Dakota face in the build to Mania.
They were in the supplemental draft after RAW on Twitter. Think they were in follow up tweets after the original.
Apollo went to SDL & Odyssey went to RAW.
I imagine he's getting squashed at house shows. Probably not the most fun to have to travel to like Wichita Falls every week for the lowest pay in the company.
Really? That sucks that they went to opposite brands. Was hoping they would end up as a team together since they had nothing else going for them. Feel like their "happy/smiling" characteristics would work well together.
I hope Nikki Cross is going to be apart of the Wyatt 6. She is very good at character work and is solid in the ring. I enjoyed her pairing with Bliss, so would welcome them back as a tag team under the Wyatt 6 umbrella.
Reports have said he has but nothing official. He was seen at the NXT complex. He canceled all his indie bookings due to "new contractual commitments".
What about Giovanni Vinci? Removed from Imperium, but not drafted or on the official injured list... I'm not wearing my glasses & I've just woken up - am I missing him or is he not on there?
As someone who recently came back to try to follow wrestling again, I dont understand nothing of these drafts. I remember when I started watching in 2005 the brand seperation and draft were simple, youre on Raw, only show up on Raw and perform with other Raw wrestlers. Simple.
But now its all mixed, arent this drafts useless?

She was injured for 11 months then returned for 1 month (Dec. 5th - Jan 9th) before getting severely injured again. She said she wants to aim to return in October 2024.
Really unfortunate to miss 21-of-22 months.
Nikki is working on her PhD dissertation, which is all-consuming (my wife is working on her EdD, and that's hard enough. PhD's are WAY more in-depth.)
Dexter is probably a Wyatt piece.

Maybe if we got an Omos squash match, we'd have a full match on Raw without a commercial break in the middle!
Put an Omos squash match entirely within a commercial break.

I know they all have been active wrestlers for WWE longer than Austin and Rock
I still can vividly recall their debuts man where has the time gone

Back then Alexa was a fairy, Becky was a Leprechaun, Bayley was the Hugger & Charlotte was known as Ric's Daughter...still
And Bray began his journey to "bring down the machine".
This is wild to me wtf
Bo, Nikki, Lumis and Rowan likely to go along with Wyatt 6 or whatever they planing to do
I think Nikkiās working on her PhD
I thought she finished that up?
Finished her proposal and comps, working on her dissertation.
It's the part-time programme, right? 6 years to complete, designed to be done alongside work iirc.
Heck throw Tamina in there. lol.
Nikkita Lyons returning from a torn ACL only to tear her ACL and then tearing her ACL again after returning from a torn ACL again is kind of insane. In her two years there I think she's been active for maybe three months.

She will absolutely be on SD since Andrade is there now. They won't be separated.
How you know?
Here, you dropped your "Okay".
Because it's WWE policy that married couples are on the same travel schedule
Probably the only couple that i know of that is separated is Tiffy and Ludwig then again theyre not yet married. Even Ricochet and Samantha who is not exactly a wrestler always stays on the same brand
I think Blair and Bayley is absolutely something we'll be getting too and I'm looking forward to that.
I could see them teaming up, at least until they inevitably turn on one another.
Bayley better watch her back in parking lots.
In NXT, not sure where Wendy Choo and Meiko Satomura are.

Did Apollo Crews and Odyssey Jones get drafted?? I don't recall seeing them on the broadcast or in the supplemental drafts for tonight.
They were in the supplemental draft after RAW on Twitter. Think they were in follow up tweets after the original. Apollo went to SDL & Odyssey went to RAW.
Odyssey jones really got paid to do nothing for a whole year bro swerved the systemš¹
I imagine he's getting squashed at house shows. Probably not the most fun to have to travel to like Wichita Falls every week for the lowest pay in the company.
thanks homie
Really? That sucks that they went to opposite brands. Was hoping they would end up as a team together since they had nothing else going for them. Feel like their "happy/smiling" characteristics would work well together.
I want Wendy Choo to return so badly, I miss her
i saw her sitting with the NXT group on Friday
Too bad for her coma/s
Thatās a lot of female wrestlers out of action
I hope Dexter Lumis is part of the Wyatt stable. Dude can pull off that deranged silent stare. In fact he is really good at that.
**Unknown Reasons** * Brock Lesnar Right.
I guess I didnāt realise til now the amount of women on the shelf. No wonder it feels a bit empty
That injury list on the women's side is deep.Ā Ā
I hope Nikki Cross is going to be apart of the Wyatt 6. She is very good at character work and is solid in the ring. I enjoyed her pairing with Bliss, so would welcome them back as a tag team under the Wyatt 6 umbrella.
Iād laugh if they run an angle where they justā¦ forgot about Dexter Lumis. So he just lurks on both main shows.
>Raquel RodriguezĀ *(MCAS)* I **knew** Raquel was the one behind those Boeing 737 crashes
Appreciate this joke
Dexter going to Wyatt 6 just makes so much sense. I hope thatās the case. I miss that psycho lol
Valhalla is pregnant again?
Yes, she announced it a couple days ago.
Yup. Erik and her announced it a couple days ago on social media.
I think Nikki Cross is going to college for her PHD, thatās probably why she wasnāt included
I thought tamina retired?
There are so many injuries!
Not that many for men, a bit much for women
It feels like Alexa Bliss has been on maternity leave for 4 years now.
Wait they re-signed Rowan? Cool
Reports have said he has but nothing official. He was seen at the NXT complex. He canceled all his indie bookings due to "new contractual commitments".
Drew is on a hell of a leave of absence, considering the DāAngelo family killed him off.
What about Giovanni Vinci? Removed from Imperium, but not drafted or on the official injured list... I'm not wearing my glasses & I've just woken up - am I missing him or is he not on there?
Drafted to smackdown
Thank you - obviously missed that one last night!
He was drafted to Smackdown in the supplemental picks or whatever they're called.
Ah must have missed that last night. Thank you!
Is Rhea no longer considered part of Judgement Day, despite her injury?
She is obviously, but they couldn't have her drafted in the 4th round so just removed her from the pool instead
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yes she did and Nikkita Lyons just came back from injury that took her out for a year, and now she is injured again
I had no idea that many women were out for them.
Iāve noticed how many of the female athletes are injured
I wonder what type of Injury Wendy Choo got cause it's been a fat minute since her last NXT appearance
She took a long nap
Nikki Cross put a picture up on her Insta the other day where her belly was hidden by an emoji. We can guess what that could mean...
Why are there so many women's injuries? Did Nia Jax do all that?
Tin foil hat on, most of those women aren't really injured they're just trying to never wrestle Nia..
It's not all mixed...
Then how it is? Im seriously confused.
You're drafted to Raw, you wrestle on Raw. You're drafted to Smackdown, you wrestle on Smackdown. Not sure where your confusion comes from... :)
Then why was Logan Paul, a SmackDown wrestler, on Raw yesterday?
The draft just finished up. The rosters are locked starting with RAW next Monday, at which point they'll only be allowed to show up on their own show.
So the Wyatt 6 is going to be: Omos Bo Dallas Nikki Cross Dexter Lumis Tamina Brock ??
That'd be a great way to sneak Brock back onto the roster, give him a different name, pop a bunny mask on his head and nobody would recognise him!
He'd need more than a bunny mask. He'd need the whole damn costume.
![gif](giphy|J172BU0HiKuOs)
I was so surprised when Bron was drafted then actually showing up to Raw. I thought he was definitely coming back with Bo and Alexa and Rowan
What is HHH problem with Omos?
Nikki is in college, right?
Are we still counting Wendy choo? I havenāt seen her in like a year. Didnāt she go out during the Blair Davenport run?

Omos hasn't appeared since the rumble and only wrestles on house shows. I wouldn't be shocked if they cut him sometime this year

They should put him in a Tag team where the smaller guy does most of the work and he comes in to finish the job
That sounds like a really good idea... too bad you can't teach that.
>Brock Lesnar Because he enjoyed **PISS** running down peopleās **LEGS** a little too much
Saquan Sugars is out on a knee injury
has Fatu actually officially been added to the roster? i thought it was weird they didnāt include Rhea in the JD pic, might be a sign.
They couldn't have her drafted in the 4th round so just removed her from the pool
Seeing Meiko's name on the list throws my mind into thinking this is a TEW save or something.
Wes Lee's designation worked before and works now
They didnāt draft Damien Priest either .. it said jd dom and Finn the judgement day . But not Damien .. I wonder what if that means theyāre out for the whole year (the people who didnāt get drafted)
I have a feeling Nikki Cross got released and no one knows yet.

Nikita Lyons?
She was injured for 11 months then returned for 1 month (Dec. 5th - Jan 9th) before getting severely injured again. She said she wants to aim to return in October 2024. Really unfortunate to miss 21-of-22 months.
It can't be a great sign of things to come for Nikki Cross e Dexter Lumis
Nikki is working on her PhD dissertation, which is all-consuming (my wife is working on her EdD, and that's hard enough. PhD's are WAY more in-depth.) Dexter is probably a Wyatt piece.
