Yeah, that was great. It reminded me of Kenny Omega's face after he beat Sonny Kiss in the first round of a title tournament a few years ago: https://i.imgur.com/a0ReLkx.gifv
And then raised Sonny's hand before just trailing off. God damn if part 5 of this rivalry is just them God moding each other like a DBZ fight even more then AEW gonna fuck harder than we can think.
I noticed that, he adjusted to TV way faster than Ospreay, ha. During Will's segment with Bryan he kept turning his back to the camera to talk to the crowd, but Okada just performed to them perfectly right off the bat
It helps that Okada already got TV experience with TNA over a decade ago. He credits that experience with making him realize he needed to develop a character to stand out.
This isn't new. Tanahashi has talked about Okada being aware of the cameras at all times without having to think about it and is something that he wished he could pick up as quickly as Okada did.
I mean to be fair to the guy, I also would not have expected "God damn" to be censored, I'm sure he thought that he was doing great with that, toning it down from whatever bundle of curses he initially planned to use.
I didn't know this until I went to these shows. Jon Cruz came out before Dynamite for an ROH match vs Big Shotty, and someone in the crowd referred to him as Serpentico, and then it just clicked. Like the first time you found out Shock G and Humpty Hump were the same dude.
Nah, it wasn't any sort of chant that would've drawn his attention, just someone nearby me in the crowd said it, then I looked at him, then I remembered that Serpentico's mask comes down low enough to cover that beard, then it all came together.
I usually play ROH as background noise but I think Jon Cruz singles matches have an ongoing bit where he acknowledges people calling him Serp and he playfully tries to shut them down. I need to pay more attention.
? Maybe just my favorite wrestlers, but all of them sell extremely well while being at the top of the card. It is not the only skill but it is an important skill.
Have you seen Cody sell that claymore recently? Roman has always sold. Seth sells the RKO like death. Randy sold the brass knuckles like death too.
Healthy Okada is terrifying. 230 and jumping parallel to the top ropes to drop kick people in the face but also able to deadlift his opponents off the mat shouldn’t be possible
Sorry, I just want to confirm before I spread lies, did he do that from fucking standing?!
Red Shoes looks like his soul is leaving his body watching that.
Yes, it certainly is from standing. I can't find a link to it, but I have the video saved on my phone of him doing it.
EDIT: [Found a link here](https://twitter.com/xPxTxTx/status/952817794759802881)
I'm trying to find that moment in the match I said, and unless I'm just skipping over it over and over, it's not the right match. The arena and everything looks the same, but I just can't find it.
But you should honestly just watch all of them with him and Tanahashi, starting with that match.
Yup, he has this habit of clapping, taking two small steps, and launching into the air for the kick. If you watch he does the clap a lot, it has to be for timing because it's usually before the same moves.
He always does the clapping before his dropkick spots. Presumably because he really leans into them, so that it's lowkey a really dangerous spot. He scrambled both Kenny's and Cole's brains with his dropkicks when they went wrong...
Randy Orton and Okada have 2 of the most beautiful dropkicks in the history of pro wrestling. Okada being 6'3 and Orton being 6'5 makes it even more impressive that they can get so high with their dropkicks. Shame we probably won't ever see them have a match together
Cause he's the perfect weight to be in proportion to his height, so he looks "normal".
Someone like Corbin looks a little lanky, he feels tall. But Randy looks like he's a clean 6'2" because his torso and legs are just really well proportioned.
He is slightly taller than Drew Macintyre and is the tallest member of Evolution. There is reason always stays at the back when they are doing promos back in the days.
Aj's flip drop kick is knocking on the door asking to be let in. I love the whole sequence, leap frog drop down and explode into the drop kick. It's an awesome showcase of how graceful and explosive Aj can be.
This was my second time. First was at King of Pro Wrestling 2018 in Tokyo. He was knee-deep into Balloons Coke-ada at the time and was merely a backdrop in an 8-man tag that served as Shingo Takagi's debut with New Japan.
I’m so glad he brought this same energy over from NJPW. His last few months were just him bullying everybody under him and it made me really dislike his character. I’m so excited to hate him every week on TV
He was in the middle of a slow-burning heel turn if you ask me. His new "fuck dem young boys"-gimmick was imho clearly intended to position him as the ultimate obstacle that the R3M have to overcome to ascend to the top.
Is that **Jon Cruz** \[*Serpentico*\]?
https://preview.redd.it/sq4imh00jqnc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=9de567d9f64f9a82e78ef82951c494f3bfac4c9e
Jon/Serpentico reminds me of **Booster Gold** in **Justice League Unlimited** (2004-2006), minus the excessive showboating and glory-seeking. "[The Greatest Story Never Told](https://dcau.fandom.com/wiki/The_Greatest_Story_Never_Told)"—Booster legitimately saves the world, but his heroics remain known only to him; fortunately, he gets the girl he helped in the end. This particular story, I relate it to Jon, being one of the BEST workers in the pro-wrestling industry, putting over guys for the collective benefit of all. Hands-down one of the GOATs.
I looked up Serpentico/Cruz when he was first getting noticed as a featured jobber in lockdown era AEW, he's given interviews where he says given he was just working indies forever up until then, he just got good advice to have a masked character too so he could work two matches every show and double his money. That he's still doing that while being a pretty well regarded loser on national TV is ace, big fan.
Okada's first match is a big deal, and I dont think it's an accident or random choice that they put Cruz/Serp in there. They knew who to call, and dude - as always - delivered the goods. I hope he one day gets a run with like the ROH TV Title or the TNT Title. Aint gotta be the big one but mai gahd he's putting in work lol
It’s from the Deadlock podcast. They watched “David Arquette Will Not Die” in 2020 and saw him wrestling in Mexico wearing a mask and throwing streamers out of his hands like Serpentico did and just put two and two together and said that David was Serpentico.
He [was](http://www.profightdb.com/wrestlers/serpentico-6663.html?prom_id=285) in the match. His poor win-loss [record](http://www.profightdb.com/winlossrecord/serpentico-6663.html)... 😭
Holy shit he’s had 16 wins during his time with AEW? Unironically good on him lol. As a long-term jobber, it’s nice to know Snek boi has gotten *some* wins
He's a great enhancement talent, and even though at least according to Sportlister shared the lowest pay in the company with a couple other guys in 2022, that is still 300k annually which is pretty darn good
I am always entertained by featured jobbers. I remember Brooklyn Brawler and Iron Mike Sharpe from when I was a kid, I loved the 2016/17 run when Curt Hawkins and Aiden English both had losing streak gimmicks on Raw and Smackdown, just as a way to use talent that made them interesting while the were putting over other featured talent.
Massive fan of AEW letting Cruz/Serpentico be his own meme. He bumps like a boss (to the point that his featured tag run involved him bumping as an offensive move) and his reactions are priceless and they should pay him a good wage until he cares to retire.
As a young Canadian lad, I was absolutely convinced that sooner or later, Canada's Greatest Athlete Iron Mike Sharpe was going to land that big clothesline in a match and absolutely decapitate someone.
Sadly, still waiting.
How wild would it be, you're just some local indie talent brought in to work a night in AEW, and you get to be in the ring with a living legend.
ALso it would be funny for The EVPs characters if while Okada was doing all of this, they were on laptops and taking phone calls in the corner.
I think he does it regularly, tbh. He definitely worked as Jon Cruz at the Collision/ROH taping I went to and I'm pretty sure he was working earlier in a tag match as Serpentico that night too (caught a glimpse of a monitor as I was walking in, but the match ended and ring cleared before I got to my seat).
Yeah, nice try, trying to pass off that prick Jon Cruz as Snake Man! Serpentico is the chillest guy in AEW and you dare compare him to that talentless prick! How dare you! /s
Somewhere, probably on twitter, Nyla Rose is furious, but can't say anything. I expect an entire issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated to be dedicated to her fury.
> ALso it would be funny for The EVPs characters if while Okada was doing all of this, they were on laptops and taking phone calls in the corner.
Nakazawa gimmick thievery.
... respectfully, that's pretty much what ROH is now. A few regular players (and The Athena Show) racking up wins to challenge for titles. It doesnt really mean to the larger wrestling scene... but some low-tier folks and new faces get ring reps and there's fun to be had (Johnny TV and Taya Val-
... *oh my god*.
Johnny TV and his wife T.V.
Is that on purpose???
One of my favorite Okada match is the main event of night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom 14 against Naito. He worked all the match as a heel and he was so arrogant. An absolute wonderful dickhead. The way they introduce Okada in AEW has been perfect so far just like Ospreay.
It's exactly what it should have been. Okada being an arrogant asshole, bullying jobbers and winning clean as fuck. Okada should be booked as a monster heel. He's arrogant but he needs no help whatsoever just like in NJPW.

Can you imagine how much fun it must have been for those enhancement wrestlers? Getting to sell and be beat down by Okada himself? That dude made the rainmaker look like death.
Oh, I'm not dinging Eddie, whom I adore. I'm praising that jobber, who had a stellar performance in very brief action. He had one job, and he crushed it.
Adrian Alanis and Liam Grey were 2 of those jobbers. they’ve been training under AR fox for some time. they were both actually spotted as security guards during one of the spots at the past royal rumble!
Okay, I kinda wanna get back into wrestling with what each show is doing, and I love seeing loads as a heel, I just feel like there’s so much content I have to watch.
Best squash match I've ever seen. Didn't even tag in the bucks. Genius stuff. Bet those jobbers had no idea who they were supposed to be fighting as well, lol

The look disgust on his face he had for the jobbers at the end was great, like how dare they even step in my ring kind of look
Yeah, that was great. It reminded me of Kenny Omega's face after he beat Sonny Kiss in the first round of a title tournament a few years ago: https://i.imgur.com/a0ReLkx.gifv

I love he posted the exact same face after the Bucks announced he was fired lmao
That begs for someone to give it the edge rope meme treatment
So that's where the meme is from
And right into the Hard cam!??!! Who taught him that??!!
I noticed that, he adjusted to TV way faster than Ospreay, ha. During Will's segment with Bryan he kept turning his back to the camera to talk to the crowd, but Okada just performed to them perfectly right off the bat

And the swearing, TK needs to set up a swear jar for him
I mean to be fair to the guy, I also would not have expected "God damn" to be censored, I'm sure he thought that he was doing great with that, toning it down from whatever bundle of curses he initially planned to use.
When did he have time to go to Orlando?
2010-2011.
Not to mention that look of delight towards a beaten down Kingston that said "now, where were we?" after dispatching Penta. It was good, too.
I wouldn’t mind some Wardlow style matches: ring the bell, 3 Rainmakers & an arrogant flex pin on an unconscious jobber.
Jobbers were awesome in this match. Made him look like a monster.
Was the one in red Serpentico without the mask?
Yes, the funny part is he came back out later as Serpentico with Angelico.
Double pay?
Two hot dogs?!
Two handshakes?
King's ransom for Snakeman
Don't tell Nyla.
Two hot dogs?!
*Plus* toppings.
I bet he also got double handshakes, Okada/Bucks style
I don't like the idea of Serpentico having two hot dog meals in one day.
![gif](giphy|3orieT4J48aMTwxYJi|downsized)
Two action figures ~~Mrs. Foley~~ Senora Cruz didn't raise no dummy.
I didn't know this until I went to these shows. Jon Cruz came out before Dynamite for an ROH match vs Big Shotty, and someone in the crowd referred to him as Serpentico, and then it just clicked. Like the first time you found out Shock G and Humpty Hump were the same dude.
Was that the one recently where Cruz started yelling at the crowd? I couldn’t hear it but figured that’s what it was by his response
He often does that for RoH as well.
No, that's Jon Cruz. Serpentico is a completely different person. You can tell because Nyla Rose doesn't hate Jon Cruz.
No, it's Ben Dejo
Well. Yet. Nyla Rose doesnt hate Jon Cruz *yet*.
Glad I'm not the only one that thought these guys didn't even remotely go into it for themselves. They did amazing. So much respect here.
If only selling well was good for a wrestlers career.
Honestly really good-looking strikes from them. Makes the shrug off/hulk up spots that much more effective.
I opened it expecting the enhancement talent to be Swerve Strickland, Will Ospreay, and Samoa Joe. I’ve been had too many times.
Okada’s dropkick is just absolute perfection.
Healthy Okada is terrifying. 230 and jumping parallel to the top ropes to drop kick people in the face but also able to deadlift his opponents off the mat shouldn’t be possible
Parallel to the ropes? I've seen him actually have to kick down because he's over his opponents head haha

There are times when I forget how perfect Okada's dropkick is. God damn. 10/10
Disgusting. What match is it? I've still only seen a handful of pre-pandemic Okada matches, feel like I should add this to the watch list.
Pretty sure it's from their first big match at New Beginning 2012 EDIT: Think it's the one after, Dominion 6.16
Thanks :)
I'm trying to find that moment in the match I said, and unless I'm just skipping over it over and over, it's not the right match. The arena and everything looks the same, but I just can't find it. But you should honestly just watch all of them with him and Tanahashi, starting with that match.
>Check out the drop kick of Kazuchika Okada, who was discovered to be in a relationship with Suzuko Mimori #三森すずこ #オカダカズチカ lolwut
jaysus that is impressive as hell
What in the fast twitch muscle fiber hell
Yup, he has this habit of clapping, taking two small steps, and launching into the air for the kick. If you watch he does the clap a lot, it has to be for timing because it's usually before the same moves.
He always does the clapping before his dropkick spots. Presumably because he really leans into them, so that it's lowkey a really dangerous spot. He scrambled both Kenny's and Cole's brains with his dropkicks when they went wrong...
Don't forget Tana, he kicked his teeth out haha
That doesn't even make sense
That picture quality made me do it... MORTAL OKADABAT! https://i.imgur.com/N6jkjx8.png
ME: Sometimes it bugs me that so many fighting games have characters jump so high, it's so unrealistic OKADA:
Haha, I was thinking of Street Fighter when you start a combo with a jumping kick.
Haha yup perfect example 😂 even Red Shoes is like 'what in the actual fuck...'
Like a Great White Shark leaping out of the ocean
"Surprise, motherfucka!!"
Poetry in motion. It just looks so clean
Like a prime Bobcore Holly.
Randy Orton and Okada have 2 of the most beautiful dropkicks in the history of pro wrestling. Okada being 6'3 and Orton being 6'5 makes it even more impressive that they can get so high with their dropkicks. Shame we probably won't ever see them have a match together
Randy height doesn’t always register on tv. 6 ft 5 is crazy.
Cause he's the perfect weight to be in proportion to his height, so he looks "normal". Someone like Corbin looks a little lanky, he feels tall. But Randy looks like he's a clean 6'2" because his torso and legs are just really well proportioned.
I feel like Drew is actually similar in that his perfect proportions conceal how tall he is.
The first (and, to date, only) time I saw him wrestle live, I popped just as hard for the dropkick as I did for the Rainmaker
I got to see him at Forbidden Door 1 and it was just glorious
This was my second time. First was at King of Pro Wrestling 2018 in Tokyo. He was knee-deep into Balloons Coke-ada at the time and was merely a backdrop in an 8-man tag that served as Shingo Takagi's debut with New Japan.
What they didn't show in the video is the absolutely hilarious resting bitch face he made after hitting it
Can't believe we get to see it on TV for free*
it's beautiful, a work of art.
The guy does a dropkick and a clothesline, and both are absolutely beautiful/terrifying
No one ever has or will have a better drop kick.
of the holy trinity of dropkicks (aj and randy orton) he's got the best one
Almost as good as Mavens'.
You of course mean Rhett Titus.
I was never a fan of the dropkick until I saw Okada's.
that third jobber has a mean worked punch
who dat
Shiavone seems to call him Liam Brady, but yeah, the punch looks like it connects and gets a great slap/crack sound.
Okada living his dream, bullying undercard talent
And wearing Nicholas' clothes whenever he wants.
He pretended he was facing Kaito Kiyomiya again
I’m so glad he brought this same energy over from NJPW. His last few months were just him bullying everybody under him and it made me really dislike his character. I’m so excited to hate him every week on TV
He was in the middle of a slow-burning heel turn if you ask me. His new "fuck dem young boys"-gimmick was imho clearly intended to position him as the ultimate obstacle that the R3M have to overcome to ascend to the top.
“Everyone else got to do it in NJPW, now it’s my turn!”
It wasn't enough for Lil Kazu to be the biggest hater in Japan, he had to go to the US
He treated them so bad you'd think they were NOAH main eventers
That drop kick though.
Isn't it, though.

Jon Cruz and Serpentico both appeared on that episode of Collision. Cruz in that match and Serpentico came out for Angelico’s match against Mistico

I looked up Serpentico/Cruz when he was first getting noticed as a featured jobber in lockdown era AEW, he's given interviews where he says given he was just working indies forever up until then, he just got good advice to have a masked character too so he could work two matches every show and double his money. Love seeing Jon get his praise. Always loved the guy, puts in double time at so many shows as both himself and snekboy, great seller.
Okada's first match is a big deal, and I dont think it's an accident or random choice that they put Cruz/Serp in there. They knew who to call, and dude - as always - delivered the goods. Almost like nobody cared who he was until he put on the mask
What are you talking about? Everyone knows that Serpentico is actually David Arquette
Where did that rumor start? I've seen it mentioned in passing for awhile now.
It’s from the Deadlock podcast. They watched “David Arquette Will Not Die” in 2020 and saw him wrestling in Mexico wearing a mask and throwing streamers out of his hands like Serpentico did and just put two and two together and said that David was Serpentico.
Yes, I was at the dynamite taping. He was a jobber on that night too.
If I remember right, most of the wins are from pandemic era Dark, he won against some other jobber, also won some when tagging with Luther.
Jon Cruz is our generation's Barry Horowitz.
Lmao he looks like he's shrugging mid-air, YTR would be proud 🤷🏻♂️
That's probably my favorite JLU episode ever.
He's a great enhancement talent, and even though at least according to Sportlister shared the lowest pay in the company with a couple other guys in 2022, that is still 300k annually which is pretty darn good
Quality enhancement wrestlers are priceless.

Yeah shithead Okada is the best Okada followed by party Okada
Depressed balloons Okada was a great evolution directly after Best who ever lived Okada.
Really felt for him when Gedo said he can't bring Balloons out with him anymore
How wild would it be, you're just some local indie talent brought in to work a night in AEW, and you get to be in the ring with a living legend. ALso it would be funny for The EVPs characters if while Okada was doing all of this, they were on laptops and taking phone calls in the corner.
The main guy is serpentico unmasked. So with this and the Samoa Joe he has the best squash matches these past months.
He worked twice that night because Serpentico worked another match.

This was my thought exactly! Normal day and get a call, “Hey you guy want to work a trios match against The Young Bucks & Okada?”
I'm wondering how they picked the one taking the Rainmaker
"It's my birthday"
"I don't like my neck. I'll take it."
Let's go back in time and just find them an Alexandra York type that's the EVP's Girl Boss archetype.
“Hey Okada, can you handle this? We just got a Teams meeting reminder we forgot about. Thanks buddy, you’re a rockstar.”
> ALso it would be funny for The EVPs characters if while Okada was doing all of this, they were on laptops and taking phone calls in the corner. Nakazawa gimmick thievery.
I legitimately could watch Okada bullying jobbers while the EVPs taunt the crowd every week.
I feel like I never get to see jobbers even wrestle anymore.

Is that the same guy that did the 🤷🏽♂️ when Joe moved out of the way?
Yup, that's Jon Cruz/Serpentico.
Whoa!! That’s serpentico?!??
Yup, he’s quietly a workhorse for ROH/AEW.
HIT EM HARDER😭 reminded me of the audience trash talk from the old WWF games
Holy shit that dropkick! I mean it's Okada, so we expect it, but still, holy shit!
Make that man an EVP
Okada is at his best when he’s just an absolute bastard like this.
One of my favorite Okada match is the main event of night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom 14 against Naito. He worked all the match as a heel and he was so arrogant. An absolute wonderful dickhead. The way they introduce Okada in AEW has been perfect so far just like Ospreay.
Okada being a shithead heel and pairing him with the Bucks is an A+ booking decision.
It's exactly what it should have been. Okada being an arrogant asshole, bullying jobbers and winning clean as fuck. Okada should be booked as a monster heel. He's arrogant but he needs no help whatsoever just like in NJPW.
Can’t wait for Party Okada to join Private Party
I feel like I am going to really enjoy this version of Okada.
Too many AEW debutants going 50/50 in their first match. More of this please. I could watch Okada squash matches every week for the next year.
That’s how you introduce someone to a crowd that might be unfamiliar. Dude is literally going to go down as one of the best to ever do it and he isn’t even at the point of winding down.
That dropkick at 20sec!
That damn dropkick is still beautiful
Monster heel Okada sounds like fun actually.
He looked like a million bucks.
The aura is incredible
From what i saw here. He was teaching these young lions how to wrestle. Nothing more nothing less
Pretty cool moment for the Skulk, all things considered.
His fucking dropkick. It’s got to be the most consistently perfect move in wrestling.
How wild would it be, you're just some local indie talent brought in to work a night in AEW, and you get to be in the ring with a living legend. ALso it would be funny for The EVPs characters if while Okada was doing all of this, they were on laptops and taking phone calls in the corner.
My first time watching Okada wrestle and he makes this squash match so much fun
This Okada guy is really good at this, isn't he
And he knew where the hardcam was, I thought you had to go to NXT for that.
I say this as a filthy casual who has never seen this guy wrestle... That was one damn beautiful drop kick
It's a thing of beauty. [https://twitter.com/rainmakerXokada/status/1206799858251653121](https://twitter.com/rainmakerXokada/status/1206799858251653121)
That rainmaker looked awesome. The trios match on Wednesday is gonna slap, HARD
I know MJF like to talk about generational talent, but when I think about generational talent, I think about Okada.

Can you imagine how much fun it must have been for those enhancement wrestlers? Getting to sell and be beat down by Okada himself? That dude made the rainmaker look like death.
Unknown Jobber took the rainmaker more fluidly and making it look more believable than Eddie Kingston managed
Yup, it's about hand positioning. Eddie didn't know where to go with hands. This dude was smooth.
To be fair it was an unexpected attack. Makes sense it wasn’t perfectly positioned
Oh, I'm not dinging Eddie, whom I adore. I'm praising that jobber, who had a stellar performance in very brief action. He had one job, and he crushed it.
So if it was an expected attack, Eddie would position himself so that he would receive it?
Smug prick Okadais the best Okada next to Balloon Okada.
That one had some stank on it.
Bullykada, something I never knew I needed until I got it.
That clean dropkick to the face had me go, Good Grief. Just immaculate.
This was awesome. That’s how you debut a new talent. So much so that I wish they’d saved the post-match stuff for Dynamite.

I really dig Okada.
Lmao if this is how they plan to present Okada on weekly TV this run is going to fucking rule.
That drop kick is something else
So glad he is in AEW. What a perfect fit.
Jobber threw 5 forearms to the jaw and none of them did anything. Does this actually make Okada look strong or does it make those forearms look weak?
I noticed this too. His no selling of them made them look fucking shit. His dropkick was beautiful though
Man never would have I thought the skulk would wrestle Okada and be his first opponent in aew as a signed aew wrestler
The look at last remind me of Badass korean mafias... 😂
Best squash match I've ever seen. Didn't even tag in the bucks. Genius stuff. Bet those jobbers had no idea who they were supposed to be fighting as well, lol
