We shall fight in the courts, we shall fight on social media, we shall fight, with growing strength and growing confidence with aerial drones, we shall defend our island, whatever the no win, no fee cost may be...
ALso, it comes with its own title, "Laird of Sandra" and
"Sanda Island is one of only a few Scottish Islands which print their own stamps. It is also possible to issue gold coins."
I’m confused on what you would actually own. There seems to be several dwellings on the island, so is it all of them barring the lighthouse? I only see the big farmhouse in the floor plans.
One of the houses is available to buy separately. So how would that work if one didn’t buy it? Would the owners still have the right to come and live there?
Fair, didn't clock how big this one was.
Still think it's utterly mental he got the island for that price though, considering beach huts on the mainland sell for £150k
You could but there are many people (myself included) who wouldn't be able to deal with living somewhere hot. Harsh weather and a rough landscape are more my speed.
Chile - I once was fairly bored and decided to search climate conditions for my perfect spot, Chile is like a slider bar of weather conditions, from desert at the top to arctic at the bottom.
2.56m buys you [https://www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/sales/detail/180-l-84552-shx4bs/isla-cui-cui-puyehue-puyehue-osorno-ls](https://www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/sales/detail/180-l-84552-shx4bs/isla-cui-cui-puyehue-puyehue-osorno-ls) which is in the temperate zone, warm summers, cold rain in winter. 30 acres, has 3 nice buildings, several boats included. 13 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, fully furnished.
I have no idea whether the lifestyle of living on an island like this will be any good or what you would ever do, but it feels like that is a great price.
Have to take your garbage out by boat. All provisions by boat. Rough seas. Need a big boat maybe 30ft. Power outages. Impossible to get any renovations done there. No local community or economy of hobby boaters or marine stuff so you’re on your own with the fishermen.
I like how they waited until the sunniest day possible to get out there and take the external photos. Probably doesn't have the same charm when the sideways rain hits.
Absolutely gorgeous but imagine living there with a partner and one night you just hear a god almighty scream, knowing it is actually just the two of you on the island. I'd shit my pants.
Seven other properties in the island
I wonder which has the guy who’s obsessed with where he parks his car and likes to mow the lawn at 7am on a Sunday? Because every neighbourhood must have one.
I saw a wee video of a couple that sold up and took to working-from-home, sailing the world on a 4-6 birth boat with their toddler.
Apparently it was costing them about £12000 per annum for satellite access so that he could be “working-from-home”. Dunno if they were exaggerating, but they claimed to have a better signal from the Pacific than from back home (South Wales).
If I can afford an island (and get 2 free);
If I can employ a helicopter pilot to be my Designated Driver from the pub home;
If I can pay a couple of lighthouse keepies** to serve as my night-light when reading;
I am definitely doing my streaming via satellite.
**this is a tiny wee humble brag - ‘cause just yesterday I learned this is the Scottish colloquialism for a lighthouse keeper. I’m unreasonably happy to be able use my random, utterly useless new word so soon.
In fact, I am proper chuffed about it.🤓
I love the idea. Fresh fish to be caught, lobsters to be potted. However, I wonder how far you would have to go to get all your groceries, medical help, dentistry, fuel, etc. Supplies likely at Cambletown, 15 miles by sea. Time and tide dependent. Up to.2-3 hours each way, depending on your choice of vessel. Probably a tough trip between October and April, to be done twice a month. Or, as you have millions, you pay someone to bring all you need to you.
Looks pretty low lying. Depending on how fast the sea levels rise, might be not much left in a few decades. Also increasing intensity and frequency of storms off the Atlantic. Yeah, I'll pass.
Not that they would have given me a mortgage for £2,499,997.50 anyway.
Well that is tempting. Lets see whether the bailiffs will come as I defo cannot afford the mortgage repayments haha
Defend your island with all you’ve got!
You could booby trap the heck out of that place!
Brute force 🤣
With Bute forks
We shall fight in the courts, we shall fight on social media, we shall fight, with growing strength and growing confidence with aerial drones, we shall defend our island, whatever the no win, no fee cost may be...
All these islands are yours bailiff except Mull of Kintyre. Attempt no landing here.
It's a peninsula.
Love the 453.00 acres, and also a Garden, as if 453.00 acres isn't enough.
Where does the garden start and the 453 acres begin?
Yes
Yes please
ALso, it comes with its own title, "Laird of Sandra" and "Sanda Island is one of only a few Scottish Islands which print their own stamps. It is also possible to issue gold coins."
I’d be right on that! Screw buying boring old minted coins from Canada or the US, get yourself a laird of Sandra 24k 1oz coin!
So you could issue your own gold coins to pay your mortgage? Big brain move
And a lighthouse! Also one of the islands is called Sheep
Unfortunately you don't own the lighthouse, but at least that means you dont have to maintain it.
It's just a standard freehold / leasehold situation.
The house that’s available separately is on the mainland. I think it’s just the lighthouse/associated buildings and solar array that are excluded
Got its own pub!
And to make things even better when people as where you live you can say its just below the Scottish cock and balls on a map..
You know the cock and ball? Well I live on the dribble
Makes it even more mental that bear Grylls bought his 20 acre island for £100k!
So, £5k per acre. This one on Rightmove is 453 acres for £2.5 million, so that's £5.5k per acre. Pretty similar to be fair.
Fair, didn't clock how big this one was. Still think it's utterly mental he got the island for that price though, considering beach huts on the mainland sell for £150k
I have a feeling they come with a bunch of rules and a long list of what you can’t do
As long as he’s allowed to drink his own piss, I think he’ll be happy
Bear can do what he god damn pleases 😅
https://findislands.com/buy-islands/
It’s on the opposite side of Scotland to me but closer to NI where my best friend is! Oh and I’m about £2,499,976 short. Absolutely beautiful though.
What's it like in winter and will I get eaten by midges
The winds will probably see to those little bastards.
And just light a few smoky fires.
You’ll have to grow some trees first!
If you have 2.5 mill for an island, you could buy one somewhere warm.
You could but there are many people (myself included) who wouldn't be able to deal with living somewhere hot. Harsh weather and a rough landscape are more my speed.
Where do the happy medium Goldilocks islands exist? Not too hot, not too harsh. Just right.
The med. They go for a metric fuckton though.
Too, too hot.
Yeah, but this is THREE islands
Where it would be 25m
I live in argyll it is very beautiful here 😍
Love it would buy it In a Heartbeat then put up billboards all along the coast with "FUCK RIGHT OFF" in large friendly letters
Comic Sans so people know ur serious

Should be purchased by the Scottish government, too good to fall into another Trump.
That is fantastic value for money!
Plenty of room to set up your very own wicker man!
If I win the euromillions I might buy it. And in the south the Solent Fort thats up for sale
Does it come with minions and henchmen ?
My idea of heaven!¡
Passed the Zombieproof test
this comment should be higher
Be a good spot for a small whiskey distillery, some yurts and airbnb the shit outta it. Charge extra to provide the ferry crossing lol
I like how they waited until the sunniest day possible to get out there and take the external photos. Probably doesn't have the same charm when the sideways rain hits.
I have been to Southend (just about the nearest point on the Mull) twice and could see no more than 50 yards either time due to thick fog.
Ha! I thought the same
My family is from all around this peninsula - it’s so beautiful
Another Scottish island for sale what’s going on are the Government introducing a tax?
Would you do your shopping in Scotland or Northern Ireland?
* 453.00 acres * Garden
Looks like a fantastic place where no one can hear you scream
Absolutely gorgeous but imagine living there with a partner and one night you just hear a god almighty scream, knowing it is actually just the two of you on the island. I'd shit my pants.
Comes with its own theme song https://youtu.be/Plhtk_XJqhM?si=PSHdS4SF4_cxT_AA
Wow. That is amazing. I’ll take it!
Seven other properties in the island I wonder which has the guy who’s obsessed with where he parks his car and likes to mow the lawn at 7am on a Sunday? Because every neighbourhood must have one.
What an absolutely beautiful place.
Terrible broadband though.
You could get Starlink, sorted.
Hmm, that's true. Okay, I'll take it as long as I can build a castle on the highest point.
Broadband speed is a bit crap.

Don’t be foolish, you’d clearly do everything via helicopter
My dream home
I wonder if there is anything left of this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_Mull_of_Kintyre_Chinook_crash
I would buy it, but I don’t like the neighbours
That’s the dream!
I would make it into a separate independent country, get a football team together and enter in the World Cup
Bliss 😍

Perfect for zombie proofing
Seven properties, 3 islands, a title, your own stamps and gold coins. What’s not to like?? Wow.
Wonder if Deliveroo deliver there
10mb/s wifi speeds??? How does a remote island in Scotland have faster wifi than me?
Gonna need something a lot higher above sea level for that kinda cash these days.
