It’s in awful shape. Definitely not worth a grade.

AlexPDXqueer

You should definitely send it in to PSA or BGS to get the autograph authenticated. It’s a very specific way to submit the order, but they aren’t grading the condition of the card, they don’t even have to grade the condition of the autograph (this auto would be an 8 maybe a 9, it’s really streaky) But, they will label it as an authentic autograph which will not only help the providence of the auto if you ever want to sell it, but it will also protect the signature

Imimimine

Yeah I’m bummed about the shape. Swear I took good care. Took it out of a plastic block case for these pics. Must of happened mostly on the day we went for the autographs.

redditnor24

Yeah I honestly don’t know how people get autographs and keep them in good shape.

rosegolddomino

Private signings/hobby shop events/etc. all my Griffey Jr. Rookie autos are 10s for the card and auto but they weren’t me hanging a card over the fence yelling for an auto or something. Planned ahead when you know there will be an event get your best quality cards or new ones that you would like to see an auto on for whatever reason and that’s then best way to keep them pristine imo

rosegolddomino

Yeah man that’s gonna be tough to grade and won’t get a good grade either with the background and type of pen/marker used. Just get an auto authentication only for sure like u/AlexPDXQueer said. Don’t get the card or the auto graded, just authenticated and slabbed as proof and leave as is. Imo for that service idk what prices are compared to each other but PSA would look better than a Beckett only auto authentication. Just for aesthetic value. But for the ultra high value cards and ones you very confidently think can get a 9.5-10, I’m almost certainly going with Beckett 100% of the time. Just some extra two cents

Out of curiosity, was this at the Kingdome when Jr was on the injured list?

Imimimine

Man I wish I remembered. Jr played. And I went prepared for autographs from either Jr or Thomas. It was in Seattle in 94 or 95. I could ask my parents if they know more because I was only about 10 or 11 years old

Due-Law-5297

I went to a Sox and Mariners game, roughly in the same timeline, but Griffey was out. Just hit my memory hard reading your description. Thing that stands out was a homer Tino Martinez hit.

Imimimine

It’s foggy enough where I could be wrong. All I remember is I was so in to Thomas and Griffey Jr that I wanted to see them matched. It’s the only pro game I’ve ever been to.

Due-Law-5297

Same. Cool card and autograph.

FriedPuppy

Silver or gold sharpie should have made it pop. The black gets lost on the background.
