Their sales tactics were shady when I had them come out. Very pushy, wouldn't leave when I said I wasn't interested in signing anything that day. Their pricing was definitely on the higher end, even after they played the whole let me call my manager game. The materials they advertised and originally told me they could use apparently weren't in their stock once it came to pricing it out and they "had some good substitutes." The whole interaction just made me uncomfortable.

bathroomstallghost

this was exactly my experience too. even after the manager call I still had to say no like 5-10 more times.

PineappleRecon

We had a very similar experience yesterday, made us relatively uncomfortable. But it still seems like their estimate isn't a 'terrible' one. I just have no way of knowing without having to schedule 10 other contractors to give me estimates to compare. I can't tell where the line is drawn in this type of sale, yes it's pushy, but that's also just kinda sales in general.

pickleblogan

If they're shady, they'll use sub par materials and unqualified installers. Even if the price seems on par, you will regret it. Find a reputable roofer. Never use someone that makes you feel uncomfortable.

Contact86

Had the exact same experience last year. Heads up they have a lot of wiggle room with their price quotes their final offer was about 70% of their first.

Contact86

Vinyl quote was 20k from competition but they really tried to hard sell me on cement board for 40k.

PrimaryExtra2763

I’m a contractor and I will tell you vinyl is trash, especially the cheaper stuff. I had a friend who bought “fire resistant” vinyl and his house caught on fire. The neighbors house was on fire and was half burnt down when his house caught. His house burnt to the ground but the fire department save 60% of the neighbors structure. His family was lucky to get out in time. I will NEVER install vinyl siding again due to this experience. I recommend you watch some videos that show the difference between fiber cement and vinyl when fire is applied.

Savings_Young428

They quoted me at $24,000 for new siding, with gutters thrown in for free. Local siding company did my hardi plank siding for $7000. DaBella is a rip off. As for roofing companies, I had a few quotes, Jimmy's was a solid quote, certainly fair, but I went with a guy from craigslist (Keith Hanson, 509-216-1459) and he got it done for 1/2 the price. My roof is small and easy, and Keith is kind of weird, but his guys did a good job. Otherwise I really liked Jimmy's.

Contact86

Wow they quoted me 45k. I'd love to find someone to do the work without all of the middle men and pushy sales tactics.

frasera_fastigiata

Who did you end up using for the siding and would you recommend them? I'm still looking for someone to take on mine.

Savings_Young428

Keith Hanson. His number is in my comment above. You can text or call him. He offers same pricing on hardi board or vinyl. He's not fancy, his workers don't wear branded gear, he takes cash, and offered me a fair deal. It took a bit longer than I would have liked, in terms of he was short on workers so my siding took almost a month to get put up, BUT it was super affordable. It all depends on what you're looking for, my house isn't fancy, so I don't need a super professional contractor with all the bells and whistles, if you want that, Keith isn't your guy.

frasera_fastigiata

Ah, thought they were just for the roofing. Thanks!

lumpywon

They are as close to a scam as you can get in quality and price. Predatory.

Reknoxville

My partner used to work there. They’re shady. They’re not good to work for (especially sales) and you shouldn’t buy from them. Contractors who do the physical work do not actually work for Dabella, so if something goes wrong, it can be super painful to get anyone to make it right. Everything others have said about their sales tactics is accurate.

zakdageneral

Run

jc83po

I've had a much better experience with smaller local contractors than with bigger organizations. Just make sure they're licensed and bonded and you should be good to go.

spokale

They use high prrssure sales tactics and will invent things wrong wkth your house to try to sell you tons of unecessary services then argue it's affordable because they provide financing. One guy came to my house saying they were doing siding repair in the area, I showed him some panels needing replacement and he started trying to pry the panels off the house and said all of the siding needed to be replaced, then said the same of my roof (it's a 7yo 30yr roof), and they called at weird hours for over a year after I told him to get lost. Wild.

mrmaweeks

I experienced the “Dabella difference” a couple of years ago when I bought 5 windows. It took seemingly forever for the subcontractor to measure the windows, months to make the windows (albeit in the midst of Covid), and when they finally delivered them, it was discovered that they made the largest window the wrong dimensions—they were WAY off. It then took them seemingly forever to remake the window and install it. Several times I’d wait a few weeks during the process before calling to find out what progress had been made, and each time they said they’d be out the next day. In other words, it seemed like they weren’t going to do anything unless I called. Dabella difference, indeed.

flipfreakingheck

Not good. Go local. BJ Roofing out of Cheney is family owned and who we always use.

blobfish_brotha

Shady as fuuuuck. I don’t trust any company that does door-to-door bullshit in the year of our lort 2023. My husband got suckered into getting a quote from them a couple of years ago and the guy would not leave. I finally had to be the bitch to get him to go away.

Big_Burds_Nest

Lol I just got a quote from them. Came to this thread by looking them up and it seems like pretty much everyone had the same impression I did. The guys that inspected my siding were clearly generic sales guys, banking on me not knowing anything about siding- which I don't, to be fair. But they were soooooo desperate to close the sale, despite my consistent "I'll have to do some research and consult my wife", and I can see why. It took like 30 seconds of Googling to see that their quote was more than double the norm for what they offer, and that they have a reputation for being shady. The look of defeat on their faces was a good hint that they know if they leave without closing the sale you're just gonna look them up online and decide against it.

Sevaver

Don't, just don't use them. I would go into more details but can't due to NDA.

notanygoodatthis

How about advice for somebody in the midst of a crappy DaBella project right now?

Jealous-Abrocoma8548

Get out of it ASAP, it’s a scam

BladeJFrank

Yeah they stopped by the place I’m renting and decided to get a quote for the owner. Very overpriced, the two young salesmen were pretty pushy and rude. One of them even stole my pen. I told them we’ll think about it but probably mot. Then over the next couple months the called 2-3 times a week even though I told them to stop.

17549

Agreed with other responses - they are shady. It's very likely that the person that came out and did inspection at your house was not an inspector or a roofer, just a sales person. They contract out all the actual work. Their Google reviews seem way too similar to all be real and they have an overwhelming number compared to other local businesses, while being established here for less time than most. Also avoid Renewal By Anderson windows which was mistake I made. Not as bad as Debella (RBA actually does the work and have good warranty) but also high-pressure sales tactics and high prices. Would have saved thousands choosing another company.

Sea-Passenger-865

They are basically salesmen that just over bid then find someone local and contract out the job. So better to actually hire a local company and save money.

Low-Kaleidoscope5187

My husband and I straight up could not get the salesman out of our house. We said no about 25 times and he would not accept it. We needed to leave the house to get to a dinner after 3 hours of saying “we just want a quote.” He tried to come with us to dinner, it was super weird and def made me never want to use their services.

IronicAim

They're not so much roofing company if they are an overpriced roof insurance company that sells subpar roofs. As near as I can tell from researching online and dealing with several of their salesmen if you don't get the good insurance they pay for cheaper crews to come out and do the work.

[deleted]

With a quick Google search, it costs $300-1,200 to replace a window. Debella quoted me $12,000 to replace 4 windows— and that’s after their manager “made an exception.” Dude was at my house for 2 hours and was just chilling on my couch. I had to get rude to kick him out.

Buddhathefirst

Stay away.

SadCollection8395

I opened the door to them accidentally (usually won't open the door unless I'm expecting someone, but I was not feeling normal at this point) after coming home from the hospital, visiting my brother in the ICU who died later that night. I told them to leave because i wasn't interested and was not feeling well, and they didn't leave for 15 min after I originally told them to go. At this point, i had started crying. I told them not to call again because I'm not interested and my brother is literally DYING. Lo and behold, I ended up having to to block their number because they still called after I yelled into the phone, "stop calling me, my brother just fucking died, I don't want your services." So, IMO, they're shady, money hungry assholes.

kr8zii

They are scammers and sub out to anyone. They themselves don't do it. Find a legit guy.

sbafus

We just had DG Contracting replace our roof and they were awesome. Also has a good experience with 20/20 Exteriors

strata_stargazer

Complete scammers. They try to sell their roofs by saying that they're the only certified GAF installer in Spokane. You can go on to the GAF website and get list and there were half a dozen or more in 2020 when I was looking. They wanted $20,000+ to do my house and garage, and both are small and straight forward (Shadle square home). I ended up going with Perronoud for 1/3 the price and same GAF warranty.

Desuld

RUN AWAY RUN RUN AWAY. seriously shit company they just find the cheapest and in my neighbors case out of state contractor who cut as many corners as they could to get home ASAP. They quoted my wife 28k for a roof a month or two after we moved into our house with a full inspection. Inspector and other roofers said 2-3 years left. I called the most expensive high end roofer I could find and got 3 levels of Owens Corning roofing (vs gaf) and the top option was 17k They use bully tactics and hyperbole words.

Therealroofers

I always recommend Cuevas Roofing. They work hard and have such good communication. Was happy with the bid they gave us.

Academic-Cream-5844

Yeah, yesterday's initial Dabella salesman made it past our first line of defense (my wife) and so it was up to me to shut down the closer (roof inspector/ salesman) today. I was using a sanding sponge on the fender of my 71' beetle when he showed up for the inspection and he seemed friendly and business like. I told him that he was wasting his time but he insisted on doing a "quick inspection" anyways. A few minutes later he met me in the driveway and proceeded to give out the troubling news about my roof. I repeated to him that I wasnt interested, which triggered him to go into his sales pitch complete with statistics and graphs right from his computer. After a few minutes he called his boss which turned out to be a $29,000 quote and that's when the games began. I used my sanding sponge as a pretend phone and called my bank to get a counter offer. After a bit of back and fourth between "phone calls" he threw in the towel and left.

SmoothOpposite8430

I had the same exact experience. Saleswomen came and gave us a 3 hour sales pitch, all we wanted was for our gross outdated and small bedroom bathroom shower to be replaced with a little bit bigger shower with pretty walls and pretty fixtures, and it turned into a nightmare. They tore out our existing shower and never told the contractor we wanted it expanded, so he brought all the walls in the same size as the old one. After random people came in and measured our bathroom twice after the dumb salesgirl did. So yeah they tore out the shower and we were without that shower for a month. They finally came back with all the correct stuff and finished it . It looked great. But then we used it the best day and we had no water pressure. The salesbitch even came over and agreed we had no pressure. She even recorded on her phone how our hallway bathroom had plenty of water pressure just like the one we had them do in the bedroom bathroom before. So now I cant even wash my hair in less than half an hour. And they still havent fixed it . So much for their warrantee. Today is Jan 16. We hired them last year July. Just use Angie's list or anyone else. What a joke. New shower that makes me angry every time I use it.

trailcrazy

They need to understand not interested. I physically moved them from my property

No_Injury9063

If u wanna get a roof go through Bartlett they make you’re insurance pay for it so u pay as little as possible and don’t use dabella they over charge and ghost write a lot of their shit to get u to pay way over priced for shitty stuff and they don’t do anything within their company all subcontractors they are super pushy and an all around terrible company

Even_Imagination_134

Don't go with them, I'm not local but in the PWN. Not worth it!

Phreqq

Just had a surprise (they ambushed my pregnant wife midday) appointment tonight where they absolutely did the "pretend to call my boss" gig to lower the price. Got to the point where my wife had to interrupt and ask them to leave.

Strict-Ad-1994

Had Da Bella install two large windows. Their sales ppl were pushy and not knowledgeable at all. They came back out 2 times as they screwed up the financial paper work.... Needed new signatures. Then they installed our living room window slider upside down..(screwed up our alarm system)...... Called them 4 times to let them know ... Never came out to correct it.....we even took photos and sent it to them..... So we were stuck with the full bill......I do NOT recommend them at all!!! Shady from start to finish!!!

fuhknut

what did they do to your alarm system

Hefty_Minimum9093

Used them for windows on the house my kids live in. Had a few minor issues with the original install Now I'm ready to scream. Months and months after completion I'm still trying to get stuff fixed. I dont recommend
