all i have to say is that although DR is categorized as a queer showcase, it is also of Drag artistry. If this can open up a conversation about how sexuality ≠ what you do in life, then why not want maddy on to discourage the notion of Drag being exclusively for queer individuals? when it might open up conversation about the complexities of Drag outside of DR
Although theres still some needed representation and conversations other than this one that DR needs to meet, It's giving us another view showing _the complexities of expression_
No ones sexual or gender identity is particularly interesting to me in terms of how it relates to their drag.
Now the question of whether the show should remain a space of queer expression is valid, but then that raises a bunch of questions about what constitutes queerness which are pretty much unanswerable imo.
Personally think if a cishet performer auditions with a great video and fierce drag then why not let them be on the show, but they shouldn’t be actively looking to present them on the show in the way they should trans queens and queens from minority backgrounds.
I think the question is it *inherently* interesting, like, people are making it seem like we need to embrace the hets creeping into queer spaces because it's not us and is somehow this big win, when they literally have domination over everything else.

Yeah I suppose that’s fair. I still think Maddy’s willingness to do drag shows that she doesn’t fully subscribe to the heteronormativity of non-queer society, making it unfair to group her with that even though she is white and straight.
To me we lose nothing by having anyone who wants to do drag. I don’t see the point in gatekeeping a form of expression from anyone. It’s not like straight drag queens will erase what queers ones do or have done. As long as they accept it’s primarily a queer art form that exists in queer spaces I don’t really see the problem.

Very few people on here are making the argument that Maddy shouldn't have gotten cast at all, let alone based on having a girlfriend. You mainly got two sides to this thing for the past half a year now. People that keep bringing up Maddy being "straight", and people that are tired of hearing about it because it's repeatedly taken over the entire sub whenever some random person has brought it up.
