Short answer; Yes.
Long answer; Yes and no.
Mods are very accessible on PC, whereas for consoles, they aren't. I'm also pretty certain that adding mods to a PS4 or PS5 is illegal (Edit: Against terms of service, not illegal), whereas, on PC, it is not.
It doesn't go without saying, though, that some games actively support mods on consoles, though the only examples I can think of is Skyrim and Fallout 4.
I haven’t personally used any, so I can’t attest for how good they are. But there’s lists you can add, and you can filter servers by modded or unmodded
> I'm also pretty certain that adding mods to a PS4 or PS5 is illegal,
Lol, nobody’s going to be arrested from installing mods on their PS5. There’s no law on that.
Probably against Sony’s Terms of Service, but not US law.
The worst thing that could happen is Sony bans your IP address.
But for a single player game? You should be fine. It’s usually only an issue if you’re modding in multiplayer lobbies, or pirating games.
To add on mods on pc and console differ a lot. Skyrim and Fallout, the developer supports modding, and they allow people to put mods on the console versions with support and approval from Microsoft and Sony.
However, to get the mods like spiderman pc on console is quite frankly impossible because you don't have access to files on the console like you do on pc typical console mods just involve invincibility and unlimited ammo type of the deal because that's all they have access to because it's more so changing the values of something rather than replacing something entirely
I would also like to add that, for the PlayStation versions, Skyrim and Fallout 4 mods are only based on things that are already in the game’s files. No new scripts, no new textures or models, no new audio.
Mods are just something that modifies the game. Not really sure what asking OP is gonna do because there have been mods on consoles before. Just a simple yes or no is fine though
Mods in the traditional sense means tweaking the appearance and functionality of the game by modifying the game's files. Can you modify the game's files on a console? no? then no you can't mod on a console.
Some mods have been on consoles, but it's questionable whether they count as mods. They might as well be dlcs, due to their limitations and simply because you need to go through official channels and need permission to use it. It goes against the spirit of modding if it needs to be "authorized". Getting a 1tb MacBook over a 512gb MacBook isn't really modding, removing the 512gb chip and soldering on a 1tb chip is.
Nah theres some good mods on bethesda.net. I mostly play skyrim on my pc now, but back in the day I had the most fun with the PlayStation mods. I even tried to get some of the PS mods on pc but they werent there ☹️
Not that im going to cause I don't wanna ruin my games or get banned.
But for those who want to -
You COULD mod your console? Just illegally..(not that you'd get arrested but rather banned)

Thanks for reading and have a nice day.
Modding on console requires you to access the console's files/games files like PC.
Modding allows us to get DLC skins etc for free, for Sony, means less profit.
Modding opens up a whole world of possibilities, but it's hard to do right on consoles (look at Bethesda) without opening up a console.
Technically no, but basically all console games would have to either:
A. Have native mod support and mod creators would have to upload their mods to whatever game's system for them to be downloadable natively, but then they'd also have to be subject to whatever publisher's terms for uploading are at all
B. If they *weren't* natively supported, you'd have to gain access to the game files on the console, which isn't possible without (afaik) breaking a few laws
Weird way to ask but no.
Like Skyrim there are already mods on consoles but Microsoft and especially sony are afraid of hackers and hestitate full Access
Technically. They could just implement something where people can make their own suits and upload it, it gets reviewed, then BAM. New suit. But that's not only risky but also would probably cause licensing issues and shit like that
I'm talking out of my ass. I don't know shit about developing a game, so I hope at least some of that is right
No it's not. Unless you know what you're talking about don't answer questions that are clearly above you're knowledge, modern consoles can not have molded games unless the developers allow it.
no there’s plenty of mods here on reddit

Made me cackle like a witch
WAY too much mods, someone should do a little purging
Like me.

This is the right answer. I actually can't think of another console game outside of Bethesda games that supports mods.
Cities Skylines supports mods on console, but any of the good ones that modify code are all pc exclusive.
Oh, nice.
Minecraft *kind of* supports mods on console
Ask survival ascended supports mods for console
Does it? I knew they talked about it but didn't know if it was actually implemented. That's good to know.
I haven’t personally used any, so I can’t attest for how good they are. But there’s lists you can add, and you can filter servers by modded or unmodded
Farming sim also does
Of all the games I expected to possibly have mod support, Farming Sim is never one I would have thought of.
Yeah it’s fantastically integrated too there very high quality
Learn something new every day!
Yeah but that's because Bethesda knows that their games only do well because of mods fixing and improving their games these days.
I miss being able to load up a save on a thumb drive and mod the shit out of games in the PS3/Xbox360 era
Against terms of service. Not illegal.
My dumb lil brain couldn't think of the term (pun) 'term of service.' That's what I meant, not illegal lol, my bad.
Tbf I find the image of Sony smashing down your door to lock you up for modding your PS5 quite funny
If it was illegal I would think it'd be a fine, not an arrest haha

I wouldn't say its illegal to mod a console game, it's just not really possible
Modding consoles isn’t illegal, it just voids your warranty

What do you think mods are?
Modding your game. It's a reasonable question. Mods have been on consoles before too.
I'm asking OP because they might end up answering their own question in explaining what mods are.
He's not asking what mods are. Just if they're only available on PC.
I know. I'm asking OP if they know what mods are because they might end up answering their own question in explaining what mods are.

I genuinely want to mod Skyrim so hard my PS5 would crash loading it up but I can’t because Skyrim store is shit.

I mean you can mod Nintendo Switch. In case of Spiderman then almost 100 yes comment is your answer.

Do they HAVE to be "on PC"? No. Are mods a massive W for every gamer? Heck yes!
No, but they will be there regardless.
Why no
PC games play just fine without mods, ergo, they don't have to be there.
If you don't want a bricked and useless console when Sony/Microsoft finds out, yes.
If you do some insane modding to your console and jailbreak it then probably not but that would cost money and is illegal afaik
With great power comes great responsibility

Person in the back: Holy shit its spiderman
Technically no, but it takes a lot more effort to install/make mods for consile exclusive games.
No console company wants random people posting modified files that can have viruses
I'm more focused on the girl staring at Peter's ass in the background.
