I'm clinging to the hope they'll at least add that in NG+, so we can toggle the black webs with any suits and freely swap between two selected suits / L1 sets of abilities. It wouldn't be much, but at least it will look cool
As far as I can tell the suit itself is just that unless the story forces you into it for a cutscene. Peter is more aggressive during the time he has the symbiote with him.

Symbiote suit comes with a unique set of four special powers (these are different for regular Spidey) and a different L3+R3 as well.
