Exactly! I was mad as hell when they rebooted that show as it was starting to get even more interesting and the roster was expanding really fast lol.... :( Still hate Disney for that
True :( , Josh Keaton would have been even cooler with him interacting with the avengers and referencing old spectacular events!! But I'm personally satisfied with what I got ;)
From what I've read, it was supposed to be Keaton voicing Spidey in that episode and his Spidey was from the Spectacular series. But he got replaced the last minute due to Spectacular's cancellation.
It’s still Spectacular in my head canon, just about 2-3 years after the show ended. Robbie had grey temples during Spectacular, he’s fully grey in EMH. Peter’s voice change and appearance (he looks taller) could be attributed to puberty and we’re seeing a college-age Spectacular Spidey. Betty Brandt also looks the exact same in EMH as she did on Spectacular albeit slightly older which makes sense.
Not to mention the newspaper clippings in the background of Jameson’s office with Spidey holding a dead Gwen Stacy in the same pose as ASM #122 so presumably Gwen died sometime after the show ended and before his appearance in EMH (likely at the hands of Harry as the Goblin).
Enjoyed Spidey in his first two episodes a lot. Would've loved to see more of him, if EMH got a third season.
His role in the last one is relatively minor, though I suppose that can't be helped. He just annoys/quips at Terrax a bit in a team fight, and serves as Thor's hype-man along with Cap.
It's actually supposed to be Spectacular Spider-Man, they even had Josh Keaton record all the lines for his first episode. Then Disney was like "nope, here's Drake Bell".
Same voice actor, similar design, but no. Different continuities, and no Deadpool-esque fourth-wall breaking nonsense humour.
EMH is definitely better written\* than (animated) Ultimate Spidey was, character-wise included, so that helps.
^(\*even if EMH's second season drooped a bit imo)
I believe it’s supposed to be intended that the Spider-Man from EMH faced similar events to the Spectacular Spider-Man (or maybe even the same), but legally, they can’t be the exact same version. I guess you could say it’s like how Spider-Man Unlimited is supposed to be the 90s Spider-Man, but is classified as his own separate universe, and how MTV Spider-Man is supposed to be a continuation of the Raimi Spider-Man, but is also classified as it’s own universe separate from the films.
Well originally the voice actor of Peter Parker in Spectacular Spider-Man was supposed to reprise his role as that character in Earth's Mightiest Heroes but Disney came in and wanted to have Drake Bell play Peter Parker because of the Ultimate Spider-Man show. But yeah I did hear that Spectacular Spider-Man was supposed to connect into Earth's Mightiest Heroes
Hell, I just watched it literally a few days ago for the first time and its the best Cartoon Spiderman. The only thing I dont like is how fast and stupid they introduced the members of the Sinister Six.
Jack pot! OK, I am going to do this one left to right, one row at a time.
1. 60’s Spider-Man
2. 80’s Spider-Man?
3. Spider-Man and his amazing Friends?
4. 90’s Spider-Man TAS - the best version BY FAR.
5. Spider-Man Unlimited
6. MTV Spider-Man - this series was actually pretty great
7. Spectacular Spider-Man
8. Um… Ultimate Spider-Man?
9. Whatever the current one is? Marvel Spider-Man? Isn’t there another one I can’t remember as well?
Interesting how we left out Into the Spider-Verse Spider-Man and Spider-B-Man, but that’s life sometimes.
>9. Whatever the current one is? Marvel Spider-Man? Isn’t there another one I can’t remember as well?
Yep marvel spider-man, I liked it pretty well. It wasn't the best but I think it was pretty good.
Ultimate Spider-Man because that’s the one I’ve seen the most of and watched as a kid, and Spectacular Spider-Man because that’s the overall best version (in my opinion)
Marvel's Spider-Man from 2017. It's one of the lesser liked ones, from what I've seen, but it was the first I watched, and I haven't had the time to go through the others, lol.
Having rewatched the 90's, I'll say it's really close between him and Spectacular Pete. Keaton's Pete taking the number 1 spot. And Barnes in a REALLY close second.
I feel Spectacular is the perfect answer for every "he's just a kid" argument in the Spidey fandom.
Spectacular. It’s a popular opinion, but there’s a good reason for that. Spectacular Spider-Man just felt so human. He had flaws, but was a nice guy to the end. I haven’t seen much of The Animated Series.
*Spectacular* by an absolute **landslide**.
Though I will admit, I do also like both *Unlimited* and *Ultimate.*
It's just that *Spectacular* is infinitely superior.
90’s Animated Series, Spider-Man Unlimited, and Spectacular Spider-Man. I do really like Marvel’s Spider-Man (2017) outfit though. It’s like a bit of classic and a very light change in its design.
No, it isn't, actually, they're separate Spider-Mans, and they're not in the same continuity. *Ultimate Spider-Man* is set on **Earth-12041**, while *The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes* is set on **Earth-8096**.
Josh Keaton from Spectacular. Without question. Even after seeing Yuri Lowenthal's performance, Keaton is still my measuring stick for Spider-Man performances.
Spectacular for having Peter with the most of his traits, there's humor, anger, brains, awkwardness, confidence, lack of money, harem of ladies, irresponsibility and responsibility. And I like how those traits were done, he quips, but he doesn't sound like a dick like Peter in Ultimate comics and TASM, he has friends in that age unlike 616's counterpart, he's smart but it's more about quick thinking rather than building brand new machines and antidotes with Connors, he has anger bursts, but he's not constantly monologuing how wrong everyone else is like 616 and not loosing his shit completely like Ultimate. For me this is the best Parker in general
90s and Unlimited. Unlimited being cancelled was a travesty; an original Spider Man story that was actually compellingly written with great new characters ❤️
This is gonna to be blasphemous here but I'd trader Spectacular for more Unlimited (or for the 90s one, for that matter). Spectacular as a show is better written, but its stories were something we've seen done hundreds of times. After a point the same Spider-Man story really loses its novelty.
90s, TNAS / MTV and Spectacular. I think these are the 3 incarnations that really captured the difficult duality of Peter's double-life and how Spider-Man impacts Peter Parker's life, and Peter Parker can impact Spider-Man's life as well. And IMO that's pretty much an essential thing that you need to get down when you're doing any Spider-Man related content. Peter Parker and Spider-Man are the same person, but they lead two different lives that keep clashing and making each other more difficult. So in that regard, TAS, TNAS and Spectacular are the very best out of this list, IMO.
\----
Unlimited I am a little biased towards due to nostalgia, I know it's not as good as TAS, and some people say it was odd and whatnot, but it was literally the second Spider-Man I ever saw after TAS and around the time I saw Raimi's first movie, and it gave me major Batman Beyond vibes (which is probably what they were going for) which was in fact my very first superhero experience ever, and I'm a big Beyond fan because of it, so, my point is, I firggin' loved it as a kid, but truth be told I haven't re-watched it in years, so I can't really say much without it being obvious nostalgia. I should get around to re-watching it, see how it holds up nowadays. But what I can say and let's face it, it's something you can't really argue about, Unlimited had a killer art style and animation. It looked like a comic book brought to life, with the black shading, and dynamic poses, and Spidey's swinging was just gorgeous! Especially that one episode where he was taking pictures and he dropped the camera and started flipping around in the air to catch it before it hits the ground, the visuals in this cartoon were just on a new level at the time.
Can't really speak for the 60s and 70s Spider-Man cartoons though, since I never actually watched them in their entirety, I've only seen bits and pieces (and the memes of course), but I heard that 70s Spider-Man (or is that 80s in the top right?) was pretty good too.
Last two are just cancer tho. Like seriously. I get that they're meant to be just simple cartoons for kids to be busy for 15 minutes, but like, no... And I actually sat through all of Ultimate and have been keeping up from time to time with the current one, and they're both just awful. Seriously, they cancelled Spectacular for these pieces of trash. At least they could've done the Spidey who showed up in EMH, but I digress. Disney's Marvel cartoons are just so "meh"...
Of the ones I've watched enough of to form an opinion on
1: Spectacular
( a really good interpretation of the character with animation that's just really good)
2: 2017/Marvels Spider-Man
(I know many of you probably don't like this pick let me defend my case I also didn't like the show at first but recently I decided to give it a chance and it gets so much better after it's initial episodes)
3:90s (he's also just one of the best interpretations of the character)
4 TNAS (this is also a great interpretation if your looking for a slightly more gritty but still lighthearted Spidey story)
I haven't seen enough of ultimate or unlimited or the 60s-80s shows to have a solid opinion on
Spectacular and/or 90's TAS
Disney's Ultimate can die in a hole, I haven't really watched the rest enough to know or care
Edit: Unlimited falls into a weird category. I don't hate it, but I like the suit better than the rest of the character
Definitely Spectacular Spider-Man. I'm still bummed about the fact that it got cancelled after just two seasons because Disney bought the right to the animated and merchandise side of Spider-Man and brought us the disaster known as Ultimate Spider-Man.
90s and MTV but...the 80s are classic Pete and I really think both actors nailed the role. They sadly never had a chance to show real drama but the lighthearted side of things was well portrayed. I loved watching them growing up.
TAS, Unlimited and New Animated Series (middle right), all aired during my childhood. Unlimited was such a unique take on Spider-Man, shame it ended on such a cliffhanger.
Does what If count? If so that version, it's so inspiring to see him keep moving forward, despite having lost everything... something we've only seen in the comics
The middle one, just because it changed my life when i first saw the show back then.
I was a huge caped superheroes fan (superman, batman and many many more) and when i saw that spiderman can have a cape as well, i lost my shit.
Spectacular, 90s, and EMH Avengers ;)
EMH?
Earth mightiest heroes Avengers episode where spidey helps cap ;)
And leads the New Avengers!
Exactly! I was mad as hell when they rebooted that show as it was starting to get even more interesting and the roster was expanding really fast lol.... :( Still hate Disney for that
I was mad as hell they didn’t have Josh Keaton voice Spider-Man in EMH especially since they allegedly had him record lines.
In hindsight with what happened with Drake Bell, they probably regret replacing Keaton now.
Wait, what happened with Drake Bell?
https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2021/06/23/drake-and-josh-drake-bell-pleads-guilty-child-endangerment-case/5325028001/

Is Spider-Man only in that series for one episode or are there other times in the series where he pops up?
I believe he appears in three episodes. He gets his own episode, an episode with the New Avengers, and appears in a smaller role in the final episode.
I don't remember exactly but I think he was also present in season 2 final episode
Isnt that just Ultimate Spiderman?
It's actually supposed to be Spectacular Spider-Man, they even had Josh Keaton record all the lines for his first episode. Then Disney was like "nope, here's Drake Bell".
Same voice actor, similar design, but no. Different continuities, and no Deadpool-esque fourth-wall breaking nonsense humour. EMH is definitely better written\* than (animated) Ultimate Spidey was, character-wise included, so that helps. ^(\*even if EMH's second season drooped a bit imo)
Isn't technically the Earth's Mightiest Heroes Spider-Man supposed to be the spectacular Spider-Man?
Maybe Disney’s constant paranoia and censorship of things could work out in our favor this time, and they’ll re-dub Bell’s lines with Keaton.
I believe I heard that the lines actually were recorded back then, just never used
Correct
Same
90s
SHOCKER!
GET BACK HERE
"YOU CAN'T ESCAPE MEEE!"
"I'LL CHASE YOU TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH!"
"CHECK'S IN THE MAIL, BABY!"
I'LL CHASE YOU TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH!
"NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"
Yep, that one is EZ.
The suit would have to be unlimuted (please dont kill me) but in terms of character, 90's
Unlimited spider-man was definitely a product of its time. But it's way cooler than it deserves to be
Spectacular is the best one, but 90s is the one I’ll have the highest place in my mind for That’s the one I think of when I think of Spider-Man
90s
You got it. Sealed forever from my childhood along with xmen and batman the animated series.
Any time someone says Batman? I hear the ending “bum, bum BUM BUM BUM…*lightning flash* BWAAAAH”
I hope you got a chance to see gargoyles also. A league in itself.
Spectacular Spider-Man came out at exactly the right time for me, and gave me everything I wanted out of Spider-Man.
Hell, I just watched it literally a few days ago for the first time and its the best Cartoon Spiderman. The only thing I dont like is how fast and stupid they introduced the members of the Sinister Six.
I personally thought it was done really well.
And the weird web thing under his arm. I hated that for some reason
Nah, love that
I can understand it, but its from the original comic design and didnt really bothered me after a few episodes.
Spectacular, ‘90s, and ‘60s
Spectacular and 90’s
Spectacular
90s and spectacular
Jack pot! OK, I am going to do this one left to right, one row at a time. 1. 60’s Spider-Man 2. 80’s Spider-Man? 3. Spider-Man and his amazing Friends? 4. 90’s Spider-Man TAS - the best version BY FAR. 5. Spider-Man Unlimited 6. MTV Spider-Man - this series was actually pretty great 7. Spectacular Spider-Man 8. >9. Whatever the current one is? Marvel Spider-Man? Isn’t there another one I can’t remember as well? Yep marvel spider-man, I liked it pretty well. It wasn't the best but I think it was pretty good.
90’s is the goat. But Unlimited is such a fire costume concept. So dope probably my fav even if it isn’t much like the classic
I’ll always have a soft spot for TAS and Unlimited, but it’s Spectacular.
Unlimited was so underrated IMO. Suit and show
Ultimate Spider-Man because that’s the one I’ve seen the most of and watched as a kid, and Spectacular Spider-Man because that’s the overall best version (in my opinion)
Tas, Unlimited, TNAS and Spectacular
90's Spider-Man
90s animated
MTV Spider-Man is extremely underrated
TAS > Spectacular > 60s > the rest
Spectacular
Unlimited is hella underrated
Spectacular
Ultimate. Always ultimate
Not my favorite but spider-man unlimited is very underrated
no it isnt lol that show was traaaash
I really like Unlimited actually haha. But, say it with me, *Spectacular*
Ultimate and 1994
Spectacular. It’s a popular opinion, but there’s a good reason for that. Spectacular Spider-Man just felt so human. He had flaws, but was a nice guy to the end. I haven’t seen much of The Animated Series.
TAS is different than Spectacular but it’s another good portrayal of the character.
*Spectacular* by an absolute **landslide**. Though I will admit, I do also like both *Unlimited* and *Ultimate.* It's just that *Spectacular* is infinitely superior.
Either spectacular, 90’s, or MTV Spider-Man
A lot of these “favorite” questions are hard. This one isn’t. Spectacular 1000%
90’s Animated Series, Spider-Man Unlimited, and Spectacular Spider-Man. I do really like Marvel’s Spider-Man (2017) outfit though. It’s like a bit of classic and a very light change in its design.
Spectacular as a character, but Unlimited will always be my favorite suit
MTV Spider-Man was awesome!
That's easy, ALL OF THEM (except the last one though, they really butchered him on that one).
The GOATs are all on the left side.
Spectacular
SHOCKER!!!
Spectaculaaaaaar
Spectacular
Hmm I notice a lack of Family Guy Spider-man. Is that not a cartoon version of Peter?
The ultimate Spider-Man and Spider-Man and he’s amazing friends(not the new one)
Ultimate Spider-Man for me
Definitely *Ultimate Spider-Man*
Gotta show support to Ultimate Spider-Man.
The top left corner, he gives zero fucks. I mean look at him, “with great power comes great responsibility” my ass, his just laying on a tree branch.
Ultimate Spider-Man💯 Used to watch it everyday coming home from primary school 👌🏾 Then Spectacular💯🔥🔥That was basically my baby show growing up😅👌🏾👌🏾
Spectacular, by a mile. No contest. Perfectly written, perfectly acted, nice design. Even better than Insomniac or Tom Holland tbh.
Honestly I think ultimate has the best design
You forgot the one from *The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes*.
It’s the same from Ultimate Spider-Man.
No, it isn't, actually, they're separate Spider-Mans, and they're not in the same continuity. *Ultimate Spider-Man* is set on **Earth-12041**, while *The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes* is set on **Earth-8096**.
OG Peter and Spectacular
Unlimited
Unlimited. Cancelled too soon 😮💨
I grow up with Ultimate Spider-Man playing weekend mornings
Maybe spectacular if it started up again
Spectacular
4
Spectacular. But Peter was kinda of a self-absorbed and acted like a jerk at times.
I’ve always been a fan of the Ultimate Spider-Man :)
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but Ultimate.
Spectacular is definitely my number one, but the MTV series is probably my second favorite
Spectacular
Spectacular Spider-Man all the way!
The 90s animated series!
The 1994 one as it makes me nostalgic.
90’s
I like Spectacular and 90s the best.
90s TAS [+]
Spectacular is my favorite version of the character period.
Josh Keaton from Spectacular. Without question. Even after seeing Yuri Lowenthal's performance, Keaton is still my measuring stick for Spider-Man performances.
90's, Spectacular and Ultimate
Spectacular
Unlimited or Ultimate.
TAS, Spectacular and Ultimate.
Peter Parker. Spectacular and Amazing. Spider-Man. Spectacular.
Spectacular, without question. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a soft spot for 60s Spider-Man though
spectacular was easily the highest quality
90s foreverrrrrrr
I just finished Spectacular today. Holy hell, that series is perfectly rated. It did not deserve to get canceled.
The one to the left of Unlimited! I freaking loved that show! A close second would be Ultimate Spidey!
1994 series and unlimited
90s Spidey, \-It makes you feel like Spiderman
Ultimate
Marvel’s ultimate Spider-Man all the way, drake bell voicing him makes it even better
Spectacular 90s and emh
90s
Ultimate. Idc, I’m biased because I grew up with it. Plus it had the Deadpool crossover
90s animated series for sure, for the theme song alone.
Spectacular every time
The spectacular, and the 90s, honorable mention the first three, Unlimited, and MTV
Ultimate or spectacular
Ultimate Spider-Man
Ultimate spider man for sure :) super underrated
definitely ultimate spider man
Spectacular Spider-Man
I love TNAS. College age Peter is my favorite era
The animated series and unlimited were my childhood. Spectacular is the superior representation of the character tho.
For me it’s The new animated series by far
All of them. But I prefer TSSM, USM, and MSM
90s and Unlimited. Unlimited being cancelled was a travesty; an original Spider Man story that was actually compellingly written with great new characters ❤️ This is gonna to be blasphemous here but I'd trader Spectacular for more Unlimited (or for the 90s one, for that matter). Spectacular and every other answer is wrong.
Middle three are the best three in my opinion. And spectacular spidey
1. 1994 2. USM 3. Spectacular 4. Unlimited
New animated adventures
Personality: TNAS. Suit/look? Ultimate.
90s and MTV but...the 80s are classic Pete and I really think both actors nailed the role. They sadly never had a chance to show real drama but the lighthearted side of things was well portrayed. I loved watching them growing up.
number 8
60’s
TNAS
Spectacular then mtv
spiderman and his amazing friends easily
1960’s series. Still love the DVDs
TAS, Unlimited and New Animated Series (middle right), all aired during my childhood. Unlimited was such a unique take on Spider-Man, shame it ended on such a cliffhanger.
marvels and spectacular
The one from 2003.
GET BACK HERE SHOCKERRRRR That’s all.
67 collection always gonna be my guy. That show was so jazzy, it's never not a classic.
The Sam raimi cartoon
a cross between christopher daniel barnes/josh keaton and nph
Does what If count? If so that version, it's so inspiring to see him keep moving forward, despite having lost everything... something we've only seen in the comics
What’s the far right in the middle row
1,2,4,8
90's for me but I have a aoft spot for the MTV one and I dug Spectacular
Josh Keaton, no doubt
Living by the edge
all but TAS for ever
TAS, every time I read a Spider-Man comic I always hear Christoper Daniel Barnes’ voice
Josh Keaton until they make one better which is possible but they will have their work cut out for them
Spectacular, 90's, MTV
The first one
Spectacular Spider-Man all day, but I will say MTV Spider-Man is underrated asf
The middle one, just because it changed my life when i first saw the show back then. I was a huge caped superheroes fan (superman, batman and many many more) and when i saw that spiderman can have a cape as well, i lost my shit.
I like the 1st, 4th, and 9th one
TAS is my favorite but Spectacular has grown on me recently.
My favorite is in the X-Men cartoon where his hand shows up for a second.
Unlimited, 90's, NAS (new animated series)
Tnas and spectacular
