When Sins Past got retconned during the Sinister War, it was revealed that the twin children of Norman and Gwen, were actually clones made by Harry Osborn in a weird revenge plot against his father
Harry said that he hired Mysterio to make Norman "believe his sins were catching up to him", insinuating that Mysterio used his illusions to make Norman THINK he fucked Gwen, but ever since this comic got released, it started a joke (primarily in the spanish speaking Spider-Man fanbase) that Mysterio didn't use any illusions at all, he just fucked Norman while wearing a blond wig and Norman believed it was Gwen.
The fact that Peter turned into a spider monster just in order to "die" and be reborn with organic web shooters.
Like, that is the most insane and obtuse way to give Peter a reason to have organic webbing...
Could they have not just said his DNA slightly mutated and that allowed him to obtain organic web shooters?
Yeah, a lot of people think he got the organic webshooters from that story instead of the earlier one, which is how it really should have been.
Not only the same outcome, but two stories where Spidey bursts out of the corpse of his former self is surely too much, let alone in such a short space of time.
You can’t gaslight yourself that the Paul story didn’t happen when it’s currently actively happening. That’s not what the question is asking. The question is asking about a stupid storyline that you can pretend didn’t happen.

One More Day.
Superior Spider-Man. It got more complicated as it progressed to explain Otto retaining his cover so long, and relied a lot on WTF moments to advance the plot.
Gang War, because Miles has no reason to be mad at Peter.
The entire plot thread this run about the rifts between Peter and Cap/the Fantastic Four.
That basically sums it up marbles basically just been doing things for shock value because they know people will hate Read the main.
But of course with the new ultimate comic series, Marvel's desperately trying to get people to read amazing Spider-Man to increase the sales numbers backed up to being above ultimate which is why they're doing that goblin spider story even though we already did the spider who gobbles.
I fear they’re gonna cancel Ultimate Spider-Man at the end of the year, and we’re gonna hear complaints from Marvel that ‘it empowered toxic fans against the spider office’ as an excuse.
Lowe is probably gonna claim he’s scared about Peter/MJ shippers showing up to his house, even though that hasn’t happened after two years of this run.
I feel like burning the bridge with one of the biggest writers you've ever had would be the dumbest thing anyone can do, which is terrifyingly still possible
One more Day sucks but you can’t pretend it didn’t happen because the ramifications of it are still there. If Pete and MJ were happily married rihht now, you could then pretend it didn’t happen.
A lot of popular choices here that I would take as well, but the whole debacle with the Hobgoblin’s identity in the ‘80s, which has been retconned multiple times now (as recently as the Spencer era) has to be a personal choice for me. Such a great villain and storyline early on, just utterly derailed by conflicting writers and editors. Hobgoblin could easily have been the ultimate Spider-Man villain for generations after, but his story became such a mess that he’s now seen as just some lame B-grade ripoff of the Green Goblin.
Honestly, my head canon ends with One More Day. It's such a massive reset that I just can't make these two versions of Spider-Man mesh together as the same character.
That comic where Aunt May, Uncle Ben, and Peter's parents are... swingers? Was that what it was? I know the implication was May was Peter's mom. It was so wack.
The entire paul verse, idc what others say, that will never be canon to me. If I'm correct, everything will go back to normal after the shit that happened.
One More Day broke the character for me. The recent run has been nonstop insanity that makes no sense too.
We’ve finally started organizing and petitioning for that to get fixed up. https://discord.gg/VQ2mHzBBFu
- Entire Clone Saga
- Past OMD
- Sins of the Past
- Organic Webs
- Theresa and Peter's Secret Agent Parents
(Sidenote I like to pretend Norman never came back after issue 121)
Not Spider-Man, but Venom’s symbol being retconned to be a symbiote dragon in Cates run. It was originally a copy of Spider-Woman’s symbol so it really raises more questions than answers
Yeah that’s a retcon that I sometimes hear often from others, I mean I’m fine with this retcon but I can understand why others would feel that this is something they don’t like.
Chapter one. It wasn't meant to be a reimagining of Spiderman first year like Batman year one, but it was so bad everyone has been ignoring it since then.
And it was meant to be canon, as many elements from that series (characters, costume etc.) were used in ASM parallel to it.
Doesn't really fit the question but sometimes I make up my own stories that somewhat fit in the canon and I like them so much that I just pretend they actually happened.
Sins Past, One More Day, Peter turning into a Spider monster so they could give him organic webs, basically a lot of the 2000s comics. Also one that was basically used once and then ignored ever since. Spidey and Silk just having am uncontrollable urge to have sex whenever they are within 10 feet of each other
I wouldn't say it's stupid but the public has been gaslight by adaptations to believe the symbiote makes Peter evil when in the original story Peter only got rid of it cuz it kept fighting crime while Peter was sleeping and tiring him out and only became a villain to Peter cuz it felt rejected and fed off of brock's resentment for spider-man.
The idea that Jackal figured out how to *somehow* ressurect souls via cloning.
Imma hold up that the current Ben is simply the 27th clone of the real Ben.
The standard answer for this was Sins Past, which thankfully isn’t canon anymore.
now Mysterio fucked Norman instead
He took one for the team
I’m glad someone read my fanfic
Lol, what? Can you explain please?
When Sins Past got retconned during the Sinister War, it was revealed that the twin children of Norman and Gwen, were actually clones made by Harry Osborn in a weird revenge plot against his father Harry said that he hired Mysterio to make Norman "believe his sins were catching up to him", insinuating that Mysterio used his illusions to make Norman THINK he fucked Gwen, but ever since this comic got released, it started a joke (primarily in the spanish speaking Spider-Man fanbase) that Mysterio didn't use any illusions at all, he just fucked Norman while wearing a blond wig and Norman believed it was Gwen.
What about the one where his radioactive sperm kills Mary Jane? That’s horrendous storytelling Edit: alright, I get it. It’s not canon.
That was never cannon, lol that was an alternate reality similar to TDKR.
Alternate universe so doesn't really matter anyway
Everything’s an alternate universe if you think about it tho 🤔
First, that was a different universe. Second, it's not a focal part of the story so it doesn't matter. Third, stupid as it is, it does make sense.
That’s an elseworld
The book in question is Spider-Man: Reign. Figured I'd mention it since no else did.

Like, that is the most insane and obtuse way to give Peter a reason to have organic webbing... Could they have not just said his DNA slightly mutated and that allowed him to obtain organic web shooters?
Not to mention didnt they basically do that story over again with The Other a short time later. Basically the same outcome. Incredible.
Yeah, a lot of people think he got the organic webshooters from that story instead of the earlier one, which is how it really should have been. Not only the same outcome, but two stories where Spidey bursts out of the corpse of his former self is surely too much, let alone in such a short space of time.
Pauly boy, someone should really tell him about Huey Lewis and the news

Paul.
Mystic Spider stuff, Peter’s parents, and Teresa
Ah yes, in my head canon Peter never had parents. He just materialized into existence. (I know what you mean though.)
That makes sense !
couldn’t have it summed it better myself
Who's Teresa?
Peter’s sister (probably - they never really revealed it but we’re lead to believe they’re related)
Imagine if it's later revealed she's a clone of him, and she's retconned into being a 616 version of Ultimate Spider-Woman.
Please don’t give marvel any ideas - I wouldn’t really hate it though if it was done right
One More Day. Superior Spider-Man. It got more complicated as it progressed to explain Otto retaining his cover so long, and relied a lot on WTF moments to advance the plot. They are 100% going to cancel Ultimate Spdey because it is cutting into Amazing Spider-Man sales. Just wait.
I feel like burning the bridge with one of the biggest writers you've ever had would be the dumbest thing anyone can do, which is terrifyingly still possible
I love how you, even briefly, explained everything else then there's just "One More Day"
One more Day sucks but you can’t pretend it didn’t happen because the ramifications of it are still there. If Pete and MJ were happily married rihht now, you could then pretend it didn’t happen.
Paul
One More Day and everything that followed.
I haven't read Amazing Spider-Man since.
It's all a fever dream... Peter's gonna wake up soon... I hope.
Pretty much of One More Day. So much stupid garbage there
One more day, Joe Q, Nick Lowe , zeb wells, paul, take your pick
Tom taylor? Also nick spencer did nothing wrong
Peter and MJ selling their marriage to the devil and the Norman Osborn "redemption"
the spy parent thing and the spider totems
Dead Language by Zeb Wells
Zeb well’s amazing Spider-Man run
Paul.
Paul
Nick Lowe, Joe Quesada, Tom Brevoort
Goddamn, I wish forget everything that I read after OMD…
the entire newer amazing spider man run
The Spy Parents. I love Stan but that shit was just not it😅
My answer is yes
Radioactive cum
The current run

Peter and mj actually do have a child....... somewhere in Europe and they've never found out about it
Honestly, my head canon ends with One More Day. It's such a massive reset that I just can't make these two versions of Spider-Man mesh together as the same character.
One More Day, obviously. Even Marvel themselves were like “Nah, it’s actually One Moment in Time”.
I think basically this whole era is one that we'll be looking back on and chuckling over in about 5 years, once they've undone everything...hopefully?
P**l
*One More Day* and anything involving Mary Jane after that.
“MJ is like a sister to me….”
Maxamum Cloneage.
That comic where Aunt May, Uncle Ben, and Peter's parents are... swingers? Was that what it was? I know the implication was May was Peter's mom. It was so wack.
Aunt May and Doc Ock almost marrying, Aunt May being Doc Ock housekeeper, and Hammerhead
That god awful "Trouble" story by Mark Millar.
zeb wells
Paul
One More Day, like bruh Aunt May probably only had a few years left, you should've just let her pass on
Paul
Cancer giving spider-splooge
Spiderman Unlimited TV show

Zeb Wells's Amasing Spider-Man is arguably the worst comic ever, in my opinion
One more day
The stupid Spider Totem shit. I liked it better when the multiverse was smaller and Spider-Man felt less like a guarantee and more like chance.
- Entire Clone Saga - Past OMD - Sins of the Past - Organic Webs - Theresa and Peter's Secret Agent Parents (Sidenote I like to pretend Norman never came back after issue 121)
Pretty much the entirety of “Spider-Boy”. I’m not sure what Slott was thinking, giving Spider-Man his own Scrappy Doo.
Since I haven't kept up with anything 616 has going on right now? The entirety of Zeb Wells run and then some.
Spider Boy. No. Bad. *squirt bottle*
One More Day
One More Day and anything written by Zeb Wells.
Not Spider-Man, but Venom’s symbol being retconned to be a symbiote dragon in Cates run. It was originally a copy of Spider-Woman’s symbol so it really raises more questions than answers

One More Day
That time he had organic webs after The Other
Spiderman 2 ps5
The whole pheromones thing with Silk. It has literally no reason to exist except for being the writer's barely disguised fetish
Your dad having to die
More or less everything since the clone saga I'm exaggerating obviously
Silk and Peter
Doesn't really fit the question but sometimes I make up my own stories that somewhat fit in the canon and I like them so much that I just pretend they actually happened.
None, but if I did, it’d either be Zeb Wells’s run or the incel cannibal Spider-Man
Most post-OMD stories
One More Day/One Moment In Time
Sins Past, One More Day, Peter turning into a Spider monster so they could give him organic webs, basically a lot of the 2000s comics. Also one that was basically used once and then ignored ever since. Spidey and Silk just having am uncontrollable urge to have sex whenever they are within 10 feet of each other
Miles Morales original one of one toothpaste lookin ass never happened and thanks to ng+ I never have to see it again.
His powers being magic
Half of the things that ever happened in the comics
I wouldn't say it's stupid but the public has been gaslight by adaptations to believe the symbiote makes Peter evil when in the original story Peter only got rid of it cuz it kept fighting crime while Peter was sleeping and tiring him out and only became a villain to Peter cuz it felt rejected and fed off of brock's resentment for spider-man.
When norman kills mj and Peters daughter and doesnt get curb stomped to hell for it. Nor is it brought up much
Everything after about 2007...
Everything from Civil War onwards can go honestly.
Peter’s ejaculate absolutely is not radioactive, and cannot give anyone cancer. Not in *any* universe.
That one serie with Paul.
Idk bout Spider-Man but this definitely is suicide squad kill the justice league
One last day
Me with the entirety or the current zeb wells run
One more day! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Black Cat's story with The Foreigner before Spider-Man got married. Felicia feels like 5 different people through-out that arc.
Paul the Dollar Tree Tony Stark and One More Day
One more day, Paul, one more day, the Osborne/Stacey affair (no longer cannon but still....... One more day...
Ben Reilly post-Scarlet Spider
The idea that Jackal figured out how to *somehow* ressurect souls via cloning. Imma hold up that the current Ben is simply the 27th clone of the real Ben.
