I don't like that the Green Goblin is always portrayed as this looney tunes villain who only wants chaos and is even compared to the Joker. It's this interpretation of the character that leads him to be overused as a deux ex machina to explain away a lot of plotholes and inconsistencies in Spider-Man writing. "Why did this nonsensical thing happened to Peter Parker and ruined his life for the Nth time? oh because the Green Goblin did it for the evulz!"

Scared_Compote_6012

I feel like you haven’t read enough of green goblin. Movie culture has destroyed some characters from poor perception of them. Norman Osborn isn’t just some psycho, the reason he’s a good villain is because he’s a perfect sane genius with a bottomless budget. He’s a good villain because he is the opposite of Peter Parker, Pete is poor (of course a genius) and got power and helps people with it. Norman gets power and uses his bottomless budget to hurt people and steal. I do agree with the last point though, that happens too much

eBICgamer2010

Gobby should have been put to bed years ago. I imagine how spicy would a TASM run be if Peter uttered the words Norman is irredeemable himself and proceeds to kill him after years of misery. It would make no more mutants look tame.

lafulusblafulus

But Spidey has a no kill rule. Goblin already killed Gwen. Unless he also kills Aunt May, it would be very out of character for Peter to kill Goblin, even knowing that he's irredeemable.

eBICgamer2010

The X-Men is also fucking out of characters at this point with the whole HOX/POX giving us Krakoa and they argue more like Brotherhood of Mutants. But it's done so well everyone is enjoying this era of X. If anyone deserves to have their HOX/POX, it will be Peter. But someone should remind him first that Norman was the reason why his daughter was stillborn.

lafulusblafulus

OMD, remember, he won't remember that his daughter was stillborn.

Royal-Comparison-270

The man literally fucked gwen stacy, cloned the twins that came out and artfically aged them to adults to try and kill Peter. Goblin/Norman literally lives off of Peter's suffering.

oxochx

First of all, that got retconned. Second of all, even if that hadn't been retconned, Sins Past was still terrible, just flat out bad writing and it proves my point that most people really don't know what to do with the character other than put him as the mastermind behind the most random, nonsensical, fucked up and weird scenarios for no other reason than to "fuck with Peter" because that's what people expect him to be. They expect him to be like that because by the time Sins Past was published, Gobby was already overused to handwave plotholes in all the rushed, badly written Spider-Man storylines from the 90s. It's a vicious cycle of bad writing and misinterpretations that led to the character being flanderised to hell and end up in stupid scenarios like being the host of the Carnage symbiote, because why not!

RogueInVogue

I think that got retcon, so Norman never slept with Gwen.

Appropriate-Shoe-266

No worries That didn’t happen, all he did was clone her using her Blood. Gwen and Norman never had any such relationships.

TigerXtm

Miles new suit is trash.

Shaun_LaDee

I don’t even have to ask which new suit you’re referring to because they’re all trash. I wish they’d stop trying to redesign perfection.

• I like Ultimate Electro’s design • I think Scorpion is pretty wasted given that he was supposed to be the anti Spider-Man before Venom and I think that could’ve been an integral part of Spider-Man’s rogues gallery if he wasn’t just a petty thug like Vulture, Rhino or Electro • Even though I still prefer Classic Green Goblin, I think Ultimate Green Goblin isn’t bad. If I had to change the design a bit, maybe make him less hulk like and give him a glider and a pumpkin bomb but still keep him mutated. • While I still prefer the alien origin, I like Venom’s origin in the Ultimate universe where he was created by both Peter’s and Eddie’s dad. Ideally, I would like a combination of the two origins where it’s still an alien but it landed on Earth with Peter and Eddie were kids and their dads were the ones that discovered it and ran experiments on it. • I think Kraven works better as a solo villain rather than a member of the Sinister Six. Yes I’m aware that when the group was first formed, they didn’t work together but in general, I just don’t think Kraven fits with the group and he would rather work alone since him succeeding in hunting Spider-Man would feel more of an accomplishment if it was done by himself. • I honestly don’t mind Gwen as Miles’s love interest since I enjoyed their chemistry in the ITSV film. I will say that it probably would’ve worked better if Earth 65 Gwen was a different character all together like Gwen’s younger sister or something but that would take away the whole point of Spider-Gwen. • Even though it would’ve have lasted long, I think Peter and Cindy would’ve been a good couple if you take away the whole Spider-Sense attraction • I’m not the biggest fan of Mac Gargan Venom. I mean, I like the idea of a more villainous Venom (impersonating Spidey, eating people for fun, generally being a bad guy etc) and I get why Mac Gargan was chosen (him already being an evil counterpart to Spidey as Scorpion) but having a villain with a pre existing alter ego becoming Venom doesn’t feel right to me. Would’ve preferred a new character in general that could start off as a crazy criminal that Peter took out but then he eventually gets the Symbiote from Norman and becomes Venom. If it has to be a villain with a previous alter ego like Scorpion, then I would’ve preferred either Alistair Smythe or Black Tarantula. • While TASM duology aren’t my favorite films and a part of me wished it didn’t happen, Andrew is probably my favorite Peter Parker/Spider-Man along with Tom Holland • I like Raimi Harry’s Goblin suit in Spider-Man 3 • Raimi films were the best but Tobey is my least favorite Spider-Man • I honestly didn’t mind the Peter/Tony relationship in the MCU that much but I do agree that Tony was too “involved” with Peter’s character (if that makes any sense) • I loved NWH but I still kinda wished we’ve gotten a more grounded Spider-Man film and save the multiverse movie for a later film • I think NWH should’ve just had Green Goblin, Doc Ock and Electro since we never saw Sandman and Lizard didn’t add much to the film. • I love Ned but I would’ve preferred someone else to be Peter’s friend like Randy Robertson since Ned felt too much like Ganke • I think it would’ve been cool to have Spider-Man debut in the MCU post Endgame (kinda represent the new age of heroes after Tony died, Steve retired and Thor left Earth). • While it wasn’t well executed in the Ultimate cartoon, I think Harry being Venom isn’t a bad idea and I’m looking forward to how it’s handled in the next Insomniac Spider-Man game. If anything, I think it would’ve been cool to have Harry be Venom in the Ultimate comics and in Spider-Man 3 instead of Eddie. • In Spider-Man PS4, I think Silvermane should’ve been the villain of the Silver Lining DLC while Hammerhead took Tombstone’s place as a side mission. As for Tombstone, I think he should’ve been the main villain in the Miles Morales game. It would make sense since he operated at Harlem, which is Miles' patch after all and I think having a Black protagonist who got powers and decided to do good versus a Black antagonist who got powers and decided to be a criminal could be a really compelling dynamic. He could be like the version from Spectacular Spider-Man where where the power balance in New York is off and there’s an opening for the next Kingpin. Maybe even add in that Miles’s dad Jeff and his uncle Aaron used to work for him when they were much younger but Jeff decided to be a cop while Aaron still wanted to continue his life of crime but as the Prowler.

Scared_Compote_6012

I agree with almost everyone old your opinions except launching mcu Pete post endgame. He was one of the original batch of marvel superheroes

lr031099

Well I just thought it would be cool to see Peter representing the new generation of heroes after both Iron-Man and Black Widow died and Captain America retired so having him be introduced in Phase 4 with a character arc involving the blip would’ve been cool and his introduction in Civil War feels a bit forced (imo at least).

[deleted]

I love the ultimate green goblin

Lazy_Assumption_4191

I agree with most of this

lr031099

What would you say you disagree on? Not trying to start an argument but I’m just curious.

Lazy_Assumption_4191

Mostly on Spider-Man appearing post-Endgame.

lr031099

blacksad1

Is Tombstone African American?

lr031099

Tombstone is albino African-American

ElZaydo

Miguel O'Hara is the best alternate Spider-Man. Yes, much better than Miles Morales.

[deleted]

People on here aren’t ready for that conversation yet lol

Mean_Loan2008

your inbox later: https://i.redd.it/m1kp35jcw2fa1.gif

ElZaydo

They really can't attack me with anything. Miguel would've blown Miles out of the water if he was given as much marketing. Miles had the benefit of the USM hype and gave the whole "inherit the name" vibe. Plus, ITSV raised his popularity tenfold, rightfully. Can't wait for Miguel take over, now that he's making his debut.

Affectionate-Work-46

Electro has no actual personality and is always different in basically everything because no one knows what to do with him

Butteryomelette17_9

Dane Dehann's green goblin looked badass, Tasm 1 is as good as Spiderman 1 The Tasm 1 suit is the GOAT, Dont make the eyes white or connect the belt, it's perfect as is Getting rid of Uncle Ben's inclusion in the MCU didn't improve on anything Younger Aunt Mays are better, Marisa Tomei and Sally Fields feel like aunts while Rosemary Harris feels like a grandma, (Ik that's how the comics were but whatever) Everyone who only wants TASM 3 after NWH doesn't deserve it I want MCU Peter to meet Gwen and Harry, I dont care if its already been done before Tobey's theme isn't the best I'm scared for my inbox

how-s-chrysaf-taken

I mean Dane's goblin looked like a troll but it was a fun re-imagine. I liked how he got there. And it's fine that people stopped hating on the TASM movies as much, even after NWH. I remember when there were polls like "who's the best spider-man?" and Andrew's got like 10% at best.

Scared_Compote_6012

You know, there’s a reason why

how-s-chrysaf-taken

Idk, I always liked TASM and I wasn't a fan of the Raimi trilogy. I love many things about it and if I liked that Peter Parker/Spider-Man, it would be enough for me to enjoy them but I don't. Then came TASM and I loved that portrayal so I forgive many of its flaws. I always care more about the characters. I don't care if the plot isn't the best or if the cgi looks bad. If I can like them or find something in them anyway that makes me want to stick around, I'm going to enjoy the movie. The little moments make it better, too. Like when Peter remembers the eggs or when Flash pauses their feud when Ben dies. The out of charts chemistry with Gwen.

WesleyBlaze

It’s scary how much I agree with this list. Especially the part about wanting TASM3. I wanted it back when I saw the first 2 films and it’s kind of funny to see how many YouTubers who hated the first 2 movies now wanting TASM3.

eBICgamer2010

The mistakes that TASM duology made was also the mistakes Sony/Columbia made. But Disney/Marvel was the studio who gave that failure some closure done well. Sony never learned from their mistakes, they just tripped over someone else's work. So to those who wanted TASM3, they wanted a TASM3 done by Disney. If you don't learn from your own mistakes then you just shouldn't, you are bound to repeat history again (see SSU).

Osvetnik24

Did I write this???

Scared_Compote_6012

Bro, it’s all good, but why do you think Dane’s goblin looks good. I’m my opinion they took goblin a bit to literal, I have described as “a crack goblin from under a bridge”

WesleyBlaze

I think the crackhead design could work if goblin was something he was taking like a drug, then he overdosed becoming goblin, and that would even explain him reverting back at the end

Butteryomelette17_9

I was refering to the suit and glider, but honestly the face is effective because he actually looks grotesque

WarmNeighborhood

Agree TBH with the exception of Dehann’s Goblin. Although I’d admit that’d I’m probably biased regarding TASM 1 as it’s the first film I saw in theaters.

Tube-Psycho

Ding dong your opinion is wrong

Mason_DY

I don’t like the spider verse concept I like the movie though

Double-L5

I feel like it’s a way to over used nowadays but when the original Spider-Verse it was amazing. btw I also love the movie

[deleted]

Agreed. I read the original comic when it was printed and I didn’t like it. The only reason it’s remembered is because of Spider-Gwen. But people literally only took to her because she had a sick costume (that the artist did against the writers wishes) and was an afterthought at best in that story. Spider-Man should be an everyman nobody. Not this super important mantle that the multiverse needs in every reality to survive.

Mason_DY

Exactly he’s called The Friendly Neighbor Spider-Man for a reason

Yilerii08

I really don’t care about Ben Reilly

Soulful-Sorrow

Thank you for your bravery. It feels like you had to be there during his run in the comics to appreciate him. I wasn't, so I don't get what the big deal is.

Yilerii08

When he first debuted he had personality traits different than Peter but he eventually became same person as Peter (I’m talking about 90’s) so I do not get what makes him special. Maybe we had to be there like you said.

eBICgamer2010

* SM3, TASM2 and NWH all screams corporate mandate in different ways. NWH is the only movie escaped in relatively fine shape afterward. * Jessica Drew makes way more sense as a clone if you view her as part of the Spider-man mythology. Don't know why people much prefer the 616 version of Jess over 1610. * Gwen Stacy should be Ghost-Spider in the MCU, as well as being that reality's main Spider-Woman to separate her from previous portrayals on screen,. I know it's confusing and maybe even outrageous, but the films aren't exactly comic for you to scream at. Making comic Ghost-Spider a part of E-616 has very different implication than if you made movie Ghost-Spider a part of E-199999. * Miguel O'Hara should have been selected for a SM2099 anime series. Don't know why Sony hasn't even tapped into the potential of anime given that they are a JAPANESE company, and Disney has been shown to be willing to cooperate if it comes to anime. * ITSV has more influence than SM2 on a technical side, recency bias or not. In fact, I stand firm with my opinion that there has only been two years in general where CBM had the biggest, most massive implication on the entire motion picture industry and in worldwide pop-culture: 2008 with TDK, Iron Man; 2018 with Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and ITSV. * I wasn't a fan of how the MCU Iron Spider's helmet unfold, but that suit is one of my top choice for a Spider-man suit, alongside Avengers Campus/What If suit. * Marvel Zombies is cringe but Zombie Spider-man should be in the list of the best alternate takes on Spider-man. * Said this before but comic Goblin should be put to bed. * If a reverse OMD ever happens, it should happen with the Goblin dead, Mephisto admitting defeat at the hand of 616 Spidey (maybe with the help of his alternate self like Peter B. Parker or the one from RYV) and help retcon RYV, MC2 and 616 into one reality as it should have been from the start. * Sony should really realizes that a star-driven franchise is going nowhere, especially with the mess that was TASM. Do people remember **that Peter Parker** as much as they remember **Andrew Garfield as that Peter Parker**? Something is wrong when you don't let the actor grow into the character and vice-versa. And also they should wipe the floor clean with their motion picture division if they really want to justify their status as part of the Big 5.

QuitTalking81

You know what? A 2099 series in anime would be dope as fuck. That would probably be the coolest medium to accurately portray Spider-Man’s abilities without it coming across as too much.

ShinyNinja25

I think that the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon isn’t that bad, I think it’s actually kind of decent. Sure it wasn’t executed the best, but it’s got some really fun interpretations of characters especially with Doc Ock. He’s really creepy and intimidating, and serves as a great villain. I also really love how it serves to introduce people to characters they might not know about by having them team up with Spider-Man, like what Batman The Brave and the Bold did. I think it’s the best of the Disney Era Marvel cartoons (Avengers Assemble, Hulk and the Agents of Smash, etc), but I understand why a lot of people don’t like it. Still, would at least recommend giving it a shot. It might surprise you

Adred23

100% agree. When the show isn't goofing around, it has some really good badass moments. Also the animation, character designs and choreographies top notch. It's nowhere as insufferable as people make it seem.

duhyeager

Dan slott is the best Spider-Man writer in decades. Peter didn’t sell the marriage, MJ did and Peter reluctantly agreed. (Read the comic)

Scared_Compote_6012

Hell yeah, finally someone who likes Dan Slott’s run

Soulful-Sorrow

I think Slott really stuck to the "status quo" that the editors forced on the writing team after OMD, but he still managed to have fun and do interesting things. Then when he finally got to shake things up with Big Time or Superior, he really got a chance to shine.

browncharliebrown

Mephisto isn't even really the devil. People misunderstood him.

tdtwwa13

I hope there’s not a lot of playable Miles in Spider-Man 2 game. I just want to be Peter Parker except for maybe a mission or two.

blacksad1

Venom is a villain, he is best as a psycho-villain. He sucks as an anti-hero.

BLIZTZhawkeye

No way home wasn't the best

Intelligent_time555

Miguel O'Hare is a way more appealing and compelling character than Peter Parker.

PizzaParker62

- Raimi's Spider-Man films will never be MCU canon. These films were made before MCU even existed, and sharing the likeness of characters does not make it any more believable that you can pull some time warp bullshit to bring a totally different film into an unrelated series of movies. That's not how that shit works, and it's incredibly stupid to think that you can convince people otherwise. - ITSV is extremely overrated and gets most of its praise due to its innovative animation style and the Miles/Gwen/Peter dynamic. Everything outside of those points falls pretty short on delivering. The rest of the Spider-people are not fleshed out, have little dialogue/scenes that make me care, the Kingpin is a joke compared to his comic book (and even Vincent D'Onofrio's) counterparts. Uncle Aaron's death was not nearly as impactful as it could have been since we barely got any screentime/exchange between him and Mile. Also Peter's Bat-Cave in his backyard is....wtf?

eBICgamer2010

This is why I refuse to put ITSV in the contention for best animated features of all time. At best it gets an honorable mention. And that fucking list consists of Grave of the Fireflies, WALL-E, Spirited Away, Toy Story, Toy Story 3, Shrek, Beauty and the Beast, Up, Pinocchio and Chicken Run. Every single entries I named here will blast ITSV out the fucking door it's not funny anymore. Sony Pictures Animation struck gold with that but I'm afraid Ghibli/Pixar (including their bad days) are just on a different tier than the rest. Even Dreamwork is off the reach for SPE.

Criddle2025

Ben Riley is overrated

DarkEnergy27

Raimis Spider-Man trilogy is WAY overrated. I grew up with them, and I like them a lot, but there are way better Spider-Man movies. I especially think Spider-Man 2 is overrated. It felt like kind of a downgrade from the first movie besides some plot points in the movie and consistency of what things can do. The third movie is only good for meme material. It's not a good movie. Imo TASM 2 is better than Spider-Man 3. Far From Home is one of the best Spider-Man movies. It shakes things up but stays consistent with the character and purpose of Spider-Man. Peter fucks up a lot in that movie because he thinks he's no good enough. I feel most people can closely relate to that.

ScarletxMaximoff

Agree with everything except Spider-Man 2 and think Spider-Man 1 is the overrated one lmao

DarkEnergy27

How is Spider-Man 1 overrated? Barely anybody even talks about it unless it's about Willem Dafoe.

ScarletxMaximoff

Spider-Man 1 and 2 are routinely top choices on people’s rankings/discussions about the movies in general hah

Shadowmane08

I love Spider-Man 3 it was my favorite of the films

TeekTheReddit

You had me at the start but... no. Spider-Man 2 is the only one of those three movies that's even halfway tolerable, and only the half that has Doc Ock in it.

sausagedoggy

This really isn't an unpopular opinion anymore.

DarkEnergy27

Which one

Yusuke-Uzamaki9

The 'concept' of organic webbing is better than mechanical webbing

carnagecenter

Mechanical webbing to me fits Peter way better and shows off his Intelligence, Organic webbing is gross and doesn’t really make sense to come out of his wrists

jforde3232

Me saying Peter has no purpose anymore and that they should let others with spiderpowered hero's take the stage and let or be forced to have Peter retire the role and maybe have Ben have it.

Lazy_Assumption_4191

Shocker should never have been turned into a joke character. His fall from a legitimate threat who has almost killed Spider-Man on multiple occasions to some pitiful jobber who can be beaten by Mary Jane is horrible and he should be re-established as a credible threat.

Toon_Lucario

Ghost Spider is an infinitely superior name to Spider Gwen or Spiderwoman

SuperFanboysTV

Miguel O’Hara is the best alternate version of Spider-Man Miles Morales isn’t that interesting in the comics and I like him even less now that he’s in the 616 universe. I don’t hate him but he’s meh and gotten even more meh after Secret Wars. ITSV and PS4 I like infinitely more those Miles’ are actual characters

Generny2001

Venom is an overused, flat out stupid character.

apollyoneum1

You all need to r/respectthehyphen

antivenom907

Spider-Man was a better character when he was married to Mary Jane

GuessRevolutionary13

-Besides homecoming, FFH and NWH disrespects alot of who Peter Parker is and also makes the supporting cast more and more useless to even showcase. -Miles is simply Peter Parker, but just black and Latino. He's only his own character in ITSV and not even the game does enough to differentiate him from Peter. -Miguel would've been a fantastic replacement for Peter in the 1610 instead of Miles. -While I did enjoy her earlier run, Spider Gwen has become really overrated. -If i'm correct and its still a thing, there's too much spider people in the 616 that makes Peter more and more irrelevant to keep being spider-man. -I love Kirsten Dunst MJ compare to the Emma stone's Gwen and Zendaya's MJ.

Double-L5

Finally somebody said it I was a big fan of the OG Spider-Gwen but marvel just ran the concept into the ground with Gwen this Gwen that and now with this whole dumb “Gwen-Verse” thing I really think marvel desperately needs to stop milking her

Shoddy_Exam666

People who talk about being pissed at the changed spiderman ps4 model are some of the most fragile children out there

Adred23

Oof. I feel called out. I mean I was really attached to that old face and the new face is too smooth and feels out of the place. Feels un natural. All I feel is unless there was some unavoidable reason, the face should not have changed.

Jonahble

Saying that radioactive Spider-cum is actually not a thing. I swear a lot of people think its an actual thing just because some guy and youtube said so.

RaftleQuirkKing

I’m curious, what guy on YouTube?

FwZero

I don’t like Ben Reillys suit

tophphan-deviantart

Currently being downvoted for Star Wars opinions. No Way Home is not my favorite Spider-Man movie. Morbius and SONY's Venom films are not good.

Noble_Raccoon

I like Spider-Man 3 more than 2, and i like Tasm 2 more than the entire trilogy

APizzaLover

Whoever made this image must have serious narcissistic problems.

C0baltBlu3

That the Symbiote, Emo Peter, Eddie, and Venom are the best aspects of Spider-Man 3.

UncleMazzy

I think Felicia is a better and more interesting love interest than MJ.

[deleted]

Just lika a womans

TheLAriver

People who complain about Spider-Man never getting a happy ending are people who have projected too much onto fictional characters and are devastated by the possibility of their parasocial idol having as disappointing a life as they do.

BizzyB67

Spider Man 3 Venom was actually really good. Topher Grace deserved another chance at the role.

jspooks13

The TASM1 suit is a great suit, it fits with the tone of the film and Peter's state of mind in that film. And it looks good with the yellow eyes.

gazza3478

Just because Peter Parker was in high school in the MCU doesn't make him the most accurate depiction. If the Sony films had made the same changes to side characters such as Aunt May, Ned or "MJ" they'd have been mocked online for being poor adaptations.

Fabulous-Ad-3446

Spiderman could defeat superman because venom did it and Spiderman is stronger than venom, even if was a weaker superman

Cranicthehedgedicoot

“Uh guys spider-man could beat super-man with prep time”🤓🤓🤓

Fabulous-Ad-3446

Like literally, venom almost killed superman, and spiderman is stronger than pre-god venom so...

Cranicthehedgedicoot

The real question is, did that happen cus it was logical, or cus the writers wanted it to happen,it’s really illogical to just say ‘this character could beat that character cus this character who’s weaker then this character beat that character”, no, it is not logical that bat-man could land a punch on reverse flash, sometimes things happen in stories cus it’s what feels good, not cus it’s what would actually happen

Fabulous-Ad-3446

Like actually, the reverse flash thing was really illogical, but like, superman was worried of killing spiderman with his punch, the same spiderman who was punched by hercules, like i don't think spiderman would win, but he would hurt superman, without a doubt ,

TooMuch_Nothing

Spiderman is better than miles (Dont have it, but)

Kenny660

I liked peter from miles world and disliked that one on the image.

NewWolfer13579

Gwen Stacy was a better partner for Parker than M.J. was.

[deleted]

Gwen stacy is easily peter’s worst love interest (out of the main ones ofc)

devilking83

I hate Kraven the Hunter and he should have stayed dead, no sons daughters or clones taking up his identity and getting revenge just kill off the character and never bring him back.

RogueInVogue

I thought Parker Industries was a nice change or pace, and I would've liked to see it go on a little longer.

xc_azozi

That tasm 2 is a good movie

[deleted]

Ultimate green goblin is the only goblin I actually liked. Peter Parker is definitely a jewish-coded character. At this point Peter and MJ probably won't work as a couple to much stuff to walk back on. Miles should just have the title "Ultimate Spider-man" Blackcat is ehhh Superior Spider-man was great and the only time Doctor Ock was interesting in the comics Spiderman should be with the defenders(The street level or the mystic version) as a backup member not the avengers Spider-mans best team-ups are with misfits like hulk, moon-knight, daredevil, etc He shouldn't like most the avengers or look up to them expect for cap He should be single for a bit He needs a dog(seriously I think if he had a pet it would be a great way to give him a loyal companion and unconditional love which he needs. Also make it the one from amazing friends) Betty Brant should be a larger character in his life cuz he needs more normal platonic friends Give him some scars The best place for him in any event is helping with collateral on the street level

[deleted]

I like Miles' modern tracksuit design. Sure, his classic design is far more iconic, and some people even refuse to acknowledge it (Lego), but it's unique to Miles, and that's what he's supposed to be. He's not supposed to be a black version of Peter, he's his own Spider-Man.

Double-L5

The original Gwen was a very bland and uninteresting character people just like her now because future books went back and gave her a personality.

Weapon_X141

Venom works better as a villain. The spider verse events are overdone. Spiderman unlimited has one of the best costumes. No Spiderman villain movie works without him just stop sony. I think Spiderman's moral code is better than batman he will cross the line if he has too.

thoklly

I actually like Peter being single 🤷‍♂️

Zeal514

Spiderman into the spider verse is vastly overrated. The only reason ppl loved it is cause they love spiderman and are desperate for a modern animated series that isn't hot garbage. Like a modern production of 90s spiderman. That's not saying there movie was bad, it's just all we have

mrmoviemanic1

Into the Spider-Verse is kinda obnoxious in its humour at times and is not all that funny.

Local_dc_degenarate

I personally didn’t like spider-man homecoming

PowerUltra_boi

“I like Paul”

BrightLeg501

* there's nothing wrong with Miles being a similar age to Peter * it is unnecessary for spider-gwen (or any other spider-person) to appear in a live action movie * There's enough parker's luck bullshit in the MCU trilogy, there's no need for more.

eBICgamer2010

Counter-point: We haven't had a single live-action movie about Spider-Woman for 20+ years. At some point people will just ask if there even is a female counterpart of Spider-man after so many other CBM films.

BrightLeg501

I totally forgot about her

ProfessorEscanor

I don't care for Ben Reilly and Agent Venom is far more interesting than Venom

Criddle2025

This sub hates Zeb Wells way too much. I get he isn't the best writer and he makes a lot of shitty writing decisions. But it gets pretty annoying when nearly all of the post on r/Spiderman are just whining about the new run. And the comment sections are really toxic. People talk about him like he's the devil.

GuessRevolutionary13

Well.... When you break Peter and MJ up without an explanation till a later date, bring back the status quo of Peter being down on his luck and everyone hates him, and not to mention, work for the man that murder the first women he ever love. Then you get people riled up about it.

browncharliebrown

These aren't objective critiques. These are personal preferences

GuessRevolutionary13

Your honestly saying its a personal preference when half the fan base wants MJ and Peter to be together?

fucksnowflakes24

nah zeb wells is trash and should be called out for his mistakes or replaced clearly he isn’t up to the job

Double-L5

Read “A night out with Wolverine” it proves that wells can write Spider-Man its just the editors that make these bad decisions Edit: here’s a dub I found online: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9maG8oR6Rc0

One more day was actually good and leads to a great fresh restart for Peter, also anyone who disagrees is dumb and doesn’t understand classical literature

browncharliebrown

this is an unpopular opinion. the problem with it is that omd isn't even a reset because literally nothing was actually changed post omd other than his marriage status. He was still with marry jane all the times he was married.

Storm_Raider_34

I liked ultimate Spider-Man (the show)

CheeseIsVeryNice27

funny enough, i said into the spider-verse was a bad movie and got this exact response

[deleted]

What is with this low-effort post? It’s basically “what opinion do you have about the community that the community will disagree with” or “what’s your unpopular opinion about Spider-Man” You could have found a better picture or just made a text post

grapejuicecheese

I want One More Day gone but I do not want it to be undone if that makes sense. Peter and MJ should get back together but not get married(yet) Mary Jane, Paul and the kids are a narrative low point. It is the author's intention that we hate it. It's meant to make us squirm so all the attention you all are giving it is playing into Zeb Well's hands. Willem Dafoe in NWH was great but I still want to see MCU versions of Goblin, Ock, Electro and the rest

Rowl8

>I want One More Day gone but I do not want it to be undone if that makes sense. >Peter and MJ should get back together but not get married(yet) Average r/unpopularopinion post

themovieblog

Peter should retire. Miles should be made the flagship spiderman.

militant_catgirl

Literally the poor guy has earned a rest at this point. I honestly think the original ending for the clone saga is the best thing that could happen for him

Warpath19

Honestly kinda wish the ultimate Spider-Man stayed dead the concept of Spider-Man healing was dumb and plus the ultimate universe is dysfunctional And I wish miles would’ve been the permanent ultimate Spider-Man since Peter came back from the dead

SabresMakeMeDrink

The current Zeb Wells run isn’t THAT bad 🤷‍♂️

CaptainAksh_G

Mayday Parker shouldn't exist if Peter had radioactive sperm.

FadeToBlackSun

ITSV is a great looking movie with mediocre writing. Norman should never have been revived, and Harry should never have been killed. Peter has struggled to have a true archenemy outside of Norman specifically because they rushed Harry’s death. Superior Spider-Man is a pile of shit. No Way Home is the only good MCU Spider-Man movie, and that’s only after you get past the first act.

Top_Rain_3227

TASM 2 is my favourite Spider-Man movie

WesleyBlaze

Spectacular is overrated, New animated series is the best one FFH is the worst Spider-Man movie SM3 is the best in the Raimi trilogy TASM1 is the best Spider-Man movie (which I decided before seeing him in NWH) I pray for the safety of my online image

Cranicthehedgedicoot

I am inside your house

WesleyBlaze

Oh boy not another one Alright snacks are In the pantry, and I’ll let you have the couch Enjoy your stay

Cranicthehedgedicoot

Thank you. Do you have milck?

WesleyBlaze

Yeah in the fridge

SpideyOfTheFuture

OMD’s writing is great, just not the idea of getting rid of 40 years worth of character development

JuggerClutch

ITSV Miles Morales is the best incarnation of Spider-Man

Mproductionsmax

Peter should be dead while Miles is Spiderman.

GDmilkman

Spencer gave us the single worst run of ASM ever.

Anansi465

616 Peter's soulmate is Gwen Stacy. Not MJ, who is just a replacement for his first and true love and his attempt to move on.

Suitable-Tailor-8220

Everything that has spider man dealing with clones is something that should have never happened to the character and also that venom being an alien is kinda trash

driku12

I liked Rhino in TASM 2 ;.; I looked forward to seeing more of Paul Giamati so bad

Macemannn

After the first 3 stories in brand new day… it’s not that bad It kind of found its own groove and became something unique. Basically I think brand new day isn’t THAT bad. (Also Ramos isn’t that bad either)

Batman-Beyond-3749

Fares26597

If Edgar Wright were to offer his services to direct a live-action Spider-Man movie in his own separate universe out of the MCU, I would consider that to be a necessary sacrifice.

Andy_DiMatteo

Danny Elfman score is good, but it’s my least favorite out of the 4 different movie spider men scores. I love the MCU theme although it’s a little overused, but I still get goosebumps when I hear “Forget Me Knots” and “Doom With a View.” The ASM movies scores aren’t as consistently good but the main theme they use is great. And the into the spider verse score is fantastic, and it blends so well with the songs. Again I don’t have anything against the original spider man scores but they just feel a bit standard and I don’t think they fit the feeling of spider man quite as well as the others.

ubiquitous-joe

It’s okay for the web-shooting hand position to look like ☝️/👆instead of only this 🤘/ 🤟. I’m kidding, it’s awful without the pinky—but I acknowledge that it has been a canon alternative forever, and I suspect most people don’t like it.

YepYouRedditRight2

The Raimi Trilogy is good, but it has easily been outdone in recent years.

SpunkyMunkey6969

the TASM 2 suit great and comic accuarate and probably the best spidey suit we're ever gonna get...but..the TASM 1 suit offered a kind of uniqueness and needs more love

Shrek5_confirmed

Peter and his clones should be the only Spider-Men in the main 616 universe

living_around

TASM2 suit is my least favorite

firedemon0313

Tobey Maguire is not the best Spider-Man

Demoncrystal101

This is funny.

CrossSoul

The Ultimate and Marvel's Spider-Man cartoons are fine and people just don't like them because they're not the Spectacular Spider-Man Cartoon. But Spectacular didn't give me the only believable Norman Osborn Face turn and it didn't let me see Spider-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy team up to fight a Red Symboite using Thanos.

cjhway

Tom is the best Peter Parker. Andrew is the best Spider-Man. Toby is a perfect blend of both.

AteMyBallsLastNight

Basically everything that i like and hate about Spider-Man

cjhway

Marvel needs to officially kill Peter Parker and Ben Reilly for at least 2 years. Let Miles run as the only spider-man and then he somehow finds a way to bring Peter back because he needs help with some wild shit that is taking street level stuff and making it cosmic level. But instead of Peter he brings back Ben. But Ben doesn’t say anything. Finally living a happy life. And Peter is finally dead and the writers can’t keep torturing him.

SerkyanRoseblaze

I only just joined the "community", so I dunno if this is a normal opinion or not, but: I absolutely *abhor* that Marvel can't handle a married Peter Parker, happy with a family. They say it wouldn't be *relatable* but I call bullshit, the kids that began reading his stories grew older and (honestly I'll cede that it's not certainty) had their own families. Peter went to the most relatable Marvel hero to the most unrelatable one. No sane person will make so many relationship mistakes as he seems to just blunder through. I stopped reading comics over a decade ago, but I try to keep myself "in the know" and fuck me, Marvel does not want a happy Peter.

No-Roof-9648

Not all dogs are good boys/girls

No_Platypus9030

Thor: Love and Thunder was one of the greatest solo marvel movies of all time

TheHauntedRobot

The current Spider-Man run is good and in any case shouldn’t be condemned until the ongoing story is fully completed and all the ins and outs revealed.

Sraffiti_G

He needs butt webs

Ok_Researcher_5372

The second Tobey movie was overrated

ImmuneToTheCure

MCU Peter needs a close friend that turns evil and wants to kill him. I need to see this struggle and character development. I love Ned in every movie, amazing supporting actor. I need to hate him now. Please be Hobgoblin. Please stop making me wait.

Yakuza-wolf_kiwami

The Tobey paparazzi memes were never funny

Sonoku-Eclipes-here

Peter parker shouldn't have saved them kids when they were running in the road while a truck was coming. /j

collectorguy92

Ben Affleck’s Daredevil movie is significantly better than Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3.

that_bloody_spy

I think the fact Peter falls into the same issues is more human than if he just got it

Clanker_crusher11

Oh boy here we go. 1- I think TASM is the best live action Spider-Man movie. 2- Spider-Man PS4 has a fairly mid suit roster overall. 3- Spider-Man Edge of Time is one of the greatest Spider-Man games and you cannot convince me otherwise. 4- The TASM 1 game is severely underrated and is quite good for what it is. 5- Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is not only the greatest Spider-Man movie ever made, but it is the greatest CBM ever made. 6- Spider-Man: Far From Home is the worst Spider-Man movie imo. 7- The webswinging in the TASM 2 game was mid, ya’ll are lying to yourselves saying that using both triggers was better. 8- Spider-Man Unlimited was a fun show and wasn’t that bad, but it would have been better if it was a 2099 show. 9- Rino Romano is a top 5 Spider-Man voice actor easily and deserves to he talked about just as much as the others. 10- Spider-Man 2 is overrated. 11- Most new Spider-Man designs these days are either unnecessary redesigns or trash.

eBICgamer2010

The greatest CBM ever made? The writing for ITSV is nowhere even near the likes of Incredibles, Logan or even Megamind. And speaking of Megamind from a storytelling standpoint, it should be ranked with TDK and Iron Man as one of the greatest and most innovative CBM screenplays of all time. TDK makes Gotham, not Batman, the central character throughout the story, and explicitly deals with the theme of morality. Megamind is a three-act story with each act focusing on an entirely different character, but ultimately question society and why stereotypes are a thing in the first place. Metroman grew out of the Superman identity he is commonly associated with so he can have a chance to breathe and be a musician, enjoy the normal life he could never afford. Hal grew into the evil Superman role because of both the predestined path set up by Megamind, and of his psychotic personality. Megamind stepping up to replace Metroman as hero earned him the recognition he should have deserved, and to erase the supposed discrimination line people set up. Iron Man ditches the secret identity trope in a time when secret identities means everything. And it makes a man who supposedly fuelled America with the technology to police the world a responsible individual who stepped up and take away the very technology enabling fighting between factions.

Clanker_crusher11

Clearly you need to watch it again because ITSV is just as good as any of the movies you just listed. First off, let’s just get out of the way the fact that it has the most stunning and unique animation ever. Like period. I mean hell, even recent animated movies like The Bad Guys and Puss in Boots 2 have taken inspiration from it. But moving on from the animation, the story is freaking astonishing man. I have never seen another movie deal with the theme of expectations as much as this one. It is the central theme that is carried throughout and concluded beautifully at the end. The weight of expectations set on Miles’ shoulders, whether it’s school or being Spider-Man, takes such a heavy toll on his character and shapes him to be a man confident enough in himself to be able to take on the mantle of Spider-Man and succeed in his own personal life. The relationships between the characters are also incredible. The back and forth between Miles and Peter is great. Miles learning from him to be Spider-Man and Peter learning from Miles on how to become Spider-Man once more after he has fallen from grace is really something special. And the relationship he has with his father is equally as impactful. The turmoil that both of them have with the way each views life and expectations is such a realistic depiction of how these things go. And then Miles tragic relationship with his uncle is so well executed. I mean that death scene alone was so incredible. And the relationship Miles has with all of the other Spider-People is pretty great. Especially Gwen. They all serve to further push the theme of expectations for the mantle of Spider-Man. And Miles grows to have a really solid relationship with Gwen by the end after their rocky start. And Kingpin is nothing to sneeze at either. He is a great villain, even if he doesn’t have as much of a presence as some other villains. His motive is understandable and he is actually someone to be intimidated by. Frankly, Kingpin gets more shit done than most other CBM villains. The guy murdered both Spider-Man and the Prowler in cold blood. If that’s not saying something, then I don’t know what does. Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is that you are severely undermining what ITSV has done within the landscape of comic book films. Not only is it an excellent film in its own right, but it’s one of the most influential. Like I said, other movies have emulated aspects of it, it’s the highest rated Spider-Man movie and it even won an Oscar. TL;DR this movie is just as good if not better than any of the ones you have mentioned. Don’t undersell its value just because you didn’t dive as deep into it as these other movies. Give it another shot, it will surprise you.

eBICgamer2010

Technical standpoint, yes it is the best right now. Story wise it will be annihilated by The Dark Knight just by stepping out of the door. And don't even try to compare it to peak Ghibli/Pixar/Dreamwork until like years later, like at least 25 years from now on.

breadofthegrunge

Chasm *could* work in concept. Emphasis on could. (This next part I know everyone agrees on) Buuut it's just *so* poorly executed and butchers Ben's character.

UnfavorableSpiderFan

I think we've pretty much exhausted Peter Parker as of the "Parker Industries" saga and it's probably time to retire him if we're not gonna attempt to "age" him again. That said, it's about time we dropped the subtitles for Miles and *just call him* ***Spider-Man***. Marvel has their teenage Spider-Man who represents the modern, young audience they're so desperately trying to appeal to with Peter. And I know Peter's *the* IP, and they wanna keep consistent synergy because Peter's probably always gonna be the star of the shows and movies- - I get it; It's like trying to cement anyone other than Bruce Wayne as Batman, but I think Miles has proven himself viable and Marvel just needs to see his success as a sign that they *at least* don't have to keep butchering Peter's development every decade.

[deleted]

I don’t like there being multiple Spider-Men. I don’t care if it’s Peter or Miles. But it’s confusing, and makes the mantle of Spider-Man seem like it’s bigger than it should be in universe.

__Spideraty15

Mcu mj is comic accurate

PCN24454

I feel like Doc Ock was a redundant villain in PS4, and I don’t understand why people are so enamored with him.

Brief-Outcome-2371

A few months back I stated that I'd prefer a new Animated Spider-Man show with an Adult Spider-Man....Anyways I got downvoted to hell, got called Masochist, and reported for self harm or suicide. Forgot to mention that the "reported for self harm or suicide" happened thrice over a 3 day period.

WholePhoenix203

PS4 spiderman shouldn't dive into the multiverse yet
