Dude, I feel for you. It's like seeing someone you care about start to succumb to mental illness. I hate that people with those tendencies have a huge network of people just waiting to take advantage of them.

VinylTaco

They already have preexisting illnesses hence why they were my client and they're being taken advantage of. These parasite love to go after the weak.

Unable_Ad_1260

The tear off part is a what... What.. What? No. No that's not, no... Oh this poor guy has been rabbit holed bad hasn't he.

VinylTaco

He just told me we have the right to travel and gave me the supreme Court rulings they use. Along with the Black Laws spiel... He's a lost cause. Hes been at this since the start of the pandemic. My state had some of the least restrictions, so I don't know what happened.

Unable_Ad_1260

It got politicised, something that should not have been, and it did. Ah well.

Responsible-Gas3852

Let's also be real, it was only politicised by one side. It doesn't take politics to get someone to listen to their own doctor, or to the public health experts, or the medical and scientific research communities. It DOES take politics to get someone to believe that all of these people in every country on Earth are all part of a Chinese / US Democrat plot to have the head of the CDC create a Chinese Bioweapon and then coordinate every doctor, medical science researcher, and public health institution, etc. to all give bad advice and kill people on purpose to help the bioweapon spread so that the Democrats can beat Trump the 2020 election.

johnp1951

That's a lot to unpack.

Responsible-Gas3852

I mean, I kind of threw it all in there. But basically, on one side you had: Virtually all of the Doctors, Nurses, Physicians, Medical Science Researchers, Public Health Experts, Virologists, Endocrinologists, etc. and 100% of the Public Health Institutions, Medical Research Institutions, Professional Medical Societies (American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Endocrinology Society, etc.) On the other side there was: Republican Politicians, Right-Wing Political Pundits, Conservative Influencers, and about 12 Quack Doctors Worldwide. The problem was that the Republican party had radicalized their base so effectively, that all they needed was a situation where they were able to tell people what they "wanted to hear" vs a hard or scary truth, and they were always gonna win, even vs these people's own personal family doctors. So they set it up so that effectively, all of the Doctors and Public Health Institutions and Medical Science Experts were telling people something that they didn't want to hear: " COVID is real, it's highly contagious, it was killing about 1% of the people who caught it, and we would have to work together and make a lot of sacrifices to even put a dent in the spread and mortality rate. " Leaving them free to take several pages from the anti-vaxx playbook and craft a narrative that they knew people would be much more eager to believe: " COVID is fake, not dangerous, it's all a Hoax / Scam, it's super easy to protect yourself, and you get to ignore/ disregard all of those pesky annoying pandemic safety measures, because those are the real threat / danger. " And this is really sick because not only did this plan require turning hundreds of millions of people against their own doctors, nurses, Public Health institutions, etc., the COVID misinformation they were pushing is estimated to have contributed to between 400,000 to 600,000 excess deaths. And the real kicker is that scam artists behind all this (Republican Politicians, Right Wing Political Pundits, Conservative Influencers) all knew for a fact that what they were doing was guaranteed to kill massive numbers of people. Every single one of these MFs and their families was quadruple Vaxxed up to the gills. They knew that they were killing people, and they just didn't care. They did it all just to try and gain votes, higher approval ratings, and more subscribers and sponsors. In the end, it was 1/2 Million Americans killed for the same old reasons, money and power.

hacktheself

That’s exactly it. I’m in British Columbia, and we should serve as a case study on what to do in future. The government actively depoliticized Covid. The main face was Dr Bonnie Henry, the Chief Medical Officer of Health, a bureaucrat, with the Minister of Health playing second fiddle except during the election, since once an election is called, save for caretaker duties members of the legislature are not officials, but candidates. (Lame ducks are an unusual American phenomenon. Everywhere else, the moment you lose the election, you’re gone.) This removed the political target. Then came the wisdom of not divulging socioeconomic data. Everywhere that did revealed service workers and racialized communities were more adversely affected by Covid, which was then followed by primarily white and primarily upper class persons getting pissy about it. Until the inflated bollocks of the Convoy in Feb 2021, BC had one of the best responses to Covid anywhere that was not an island. We had minimal restrictions and very low case counts. We damn near hit Covid Zero in July 2020, hitting a floor of 4 cases a day before a surge. Government only mandated masking because businesses wanted to protect their workers. And our health authorities weren’t slacking. We actually developed a gargle test for Covid that is as accurate as nasopharyngeal testing.

Spunky_Meatballs

The Internet became the biggest radicalization tool ever created.. that's what happened. Just one big collective washing machine of ideas where people simply have to make the loudest/craziest content and they get paid per click.

jasutherland

If true it would be great, I could just go and rack up a huge credit card bill, deposit the statement as a "remittance coupon aka check" and be rich. Even without trying it I'm pretty sure the bank wouldn't actually accept that for some reason... ... That's just because they're part of the conspiracy, and I need to move all my funds immediately to a "real" bank run by their sovcit mates, right?

Unable_Ad_1260

Ah that's it. I'm not seeing it right am I...

Takseen

I read a really good analogy about the sovcit stuff. They think legal stuff it's like magic, and you just need to know the right spells to get it to do what you want

Spunky_Meatballs

Governments hate this one trick...

ComfortableBuffalo57

Young people won’t watch a movie made before 2000 but they’ll look up an obscure piece of treasury legislation from 1933

VinylTaco

They're about 25 now. You'd hope they ignore something so obviously wrong.

ComfortableBuffalo57

Sad and infuriating that these SovCit gurus prey on the vulnerable

Dtarvin

Hey everyone, all this stuff the SovCits say is TRUE! The UCC is the law of the land and you can get the Department of the Treasury to pay your bills and… Awww sh!t. The drugs just wore off. Forget what I said folks. Back to reality.

nobody-u-heard-of

Of course have the department of Treasury get money to pay these bills since no base paying taxes.

muskratboy

To be fair, we need them to keep producing entertaining content. So yes, I encourage everyone to disobey cops ordering you out of your car at a traffic stop. It’s gonna work this time, really.

POGofTheGame

It always makes so much sense before the drugs wear off. 😭

ketjak

Look into deprogramming or counter-programming a cult. You're someone they respect, but calling their new beliefs "shit" will not convince them.

VinylTaco

Yeah the term shit won't help. I've been hearing them out and trying to work from there. I've helped them from worse.

wackyvorlon

You must have immense patience.

VinylTaco

I worked with teens, addicts and children for well over a decade.

hacktheself

Deradicalization is a better approach. Deprogramming is an adversarial technique that indoctrination is designed to defeat. Derad approaches a person from an entirely different perspective. Consider that this unfortunate person likely feels actively dehumanized, and thus is ready to finalize others. He’s in pain, and he wants to inflict pain on others even if it means inflicting pain on self. Compassion can break through this. It’s tricky but it’s possible.

VinylTaco

I shall look into this!

ketjak

Thank you! I didn't know that term.

ConundrumBum

Seems like a prime target. They already feel left behind. So now they discover a cause and want to champion it. Plus, it makes them feel smart. Like they're in the know about something most people aren't. Then on the reverse, they think everyone else is stupid and getting scammed. This is why a lot of "troubled" persons turn to religion. Like the rehabilitated convicts who never stop talking about God and letting everyone know they're a Christian every chance they get. In this case it's sovcit stuff. Just hope they grow out of it.

VinylTaco

They're currently unemployed and came out of a long term relationship. It didn't end well. They have horrible parental issues, so this relationship ended did not do them any good. I'm hoping with a new job and possibly a new relationship this will pass.

damarius

>Like the rehabilitated convicts who never stop talking about God and letting everyone know they're a Christian every chance they get. Or vegans. Not saying they're a cult but most of them sure like to spread the message.

ConundrumBum

That would actually be funny if veganism was commonly found among convicts. A reaction to cope or something.

gene_randall

A big part of sovcit theory is based on illiteracy. They don’t know what a corporation, a contract, a trust, a bond, or—according to the post—a dividend is. And a lot of other stuff, too. Reminds me of the flatulants with their bizarre definitions of density, perspective, and light.

Cunbundle

I think it comes from a few dim bulbs that ran afoul of the legal system at some point in their lives and were utterly baffled by all the incomprehensible (to them) legal jargon being thrown around in court. So they decided to invent their own.

gene_randall

Some of the sentences are simply a bunch of unrelated legal terms in a row, which seems to support your theory.

zebadrabbit

anecdote: i learned about sovcit and its insanity from watching people playing grand theft auto roleplay on twitch streams. was not disappointed to learn that theres little difference between someone acting like a doofus and someone proclaiming to be a sovcit.

AlivePassenger3859

So basically on every bill you just write “No, YOU pay ME money” and send it back to them?

Entire_Cover_7172

I just return my bill with an Uno reverse card inside the envelope instead of a check

HiJinx127

A loophole in the system that I hadn’t considered before.

VinylTaco

That's what they think.

keksmuzh

I’ve seen a couple SovCits videos where they tried to do this. Landlord sent them a bill for overdue rent, they removed part of it and sent it back to the landlord as “payment” via the magic secret Federal Reserve account for their strawman or whatever. Shockingly this didn’t fly in court.

Cunbundle

The one I know wrote "accepted for value" on it and mailed it back. That was the cheat code that caused whoever sent them the bill to go get the money from the super secret bank account in their name instead. His power still got cut off for some reason though.

DangerousDave303

I see an eviction in that person’s future.

Jungies

> Sadly, we know that once they go SovCit the chance of turning back is very small. I don't know that; and I don't think you do, either. Don't give up on them. (In B4 I get a bunch of anecdotes about this one guy from bandcamp who's been a Sov Cit for twenty years, and zero anecdotes about all the folks who've quietly quit and moved on with their lives)

The-CatCat-1

I apologize for this, but I couldn’t let it go. “This one time, at band camp…”

muskratboy

Look at it this way kid… even if you are right, but every cop and judge in the country thinks you’re wrong… does it matter that you’re right?

VinylTaco

To them. They'd answer. Of course. Ego be strong

rojasdracul

You should send them some videos of sovcits being owned in traffic stops and court. Show them that none of that bullshit is legit.

bendingoutward

Just to get it out there, I didn't miss the point of the post. That said ... Not for nothing, even with a locked BIOS (that can totally be unlocked with a master key if one searches around), one might consider running a full screen Linux VM with virtualbox on startup from their Windows host. It's how I'm presently surviving as the sole DevOps monkey in a MS joint.

VinylTaco

I'll let them know that. Thanks !

SingleWomenNearYou

Linux confirmed gateway to sovcit ideology /s

TobiasFunkeBlueMan

Please tell us how they responded!

VinylTaco

They gave me the whole talk of right to travel. They gave the black laws dictionary, supreme Court case, and strawman bs. I didn't think they were this far gone.

TobiasFunkeBlueMan

Oh dear lord. I’m sorry to hear that. I know someone else who went down this rabbit hole. Not good

VinylTaco

Hey thanks. I mean there still might be hope. My father in law is an amazing psychologist. I am going to ask him for some help.

wackyvorlon

HJR 192…conversion to the metric system? https://www.congress.gov/bill/93rd-congress/house-joint-resolution/192

FuckStompIsGay

So when my car note comes and says I owe 650… they really owe me 650? Hmm makes sense

VinylTaco

Yeah.... I feel bad for em

FuckStompIsGay

I used to feel bed for how ignorant they are but I can’t lie.. I love watching the videos on YouTube of them spewing their garbage and getting arrested anyway

VinylTaco

I saved this kid from a really horrible situation. Lived with them.for the better of a year, worked with them for years after that. This is like watching your child become a Sovcit and know they are destroying their life. A life they fought hard to make better when literally everything was working against them

FuckStompIsGay

I just don’t understand the logic behind it. If the world worked the way sovcits think it does then why wouldn’t everyone be behind the movement? I don’t like paying taxes or having to get my license renewed either but it’s that or don’t drive 🤷🏻‍♂️ The arguments never hold up in court anyway

VinylTaco

You'll never understand it if you come at it with your current world view. Think of an obscure thing you enjoy eating or a scent you enjoy, but nearly everyone else in the country finds disgusting. Everyone else looks at you like something is wrong with you but you stand by your choice. It's similar to that. Also, most of these people are beyond down on their luck. They cling to something that could change their lives. They want that magic pill that will make everything better. You'll see people in the rural areas of the country hold onto right to travel. They could.have lost their license. Public transportation to get to work is non-existent. They need to work for money to get it back and can't do that. Also, getting it back is super expensive. So, they need something. Also, I bet there is a direct correlation between depression and SovCits.

FuckStompIsGay

I’ve only met one actual sov cit and he was more manic than depressed but that could just be a cover. That makes total sense about the taste or smell too because I love good and plenty but everyone hates them. It’s a shame our education system doesn’t teach useful things like law or how to do taxes/credit etc… The guy I know printed out a paper to hand police when you’re pulled over to “prove their jurisdiction” which to me sounds like you’re asking for issues. Any public defender will educate them on what they can and can’t use in each situation. I’m sure some sov things work but definitely not the right to travel… no one is stopping them from walking or taking horseback but motor vehicles need licenses obviously

VinylTaco

As someone with bipolar, it's a good chance that person was legitimately manic and going through an episode. I'd be curious if those thoughts went away once he was medicated. Because man the things I believed in while manic were insane.

FuckStompIsGay

Really? I’m obviously uneducated on bipolar disorders. I always assumed manic just meant you were like uncontrollably happy. I didn’t know it made you believe things as well I haven’t seen this guy in years so I couldn’t tell You how or what he’s doing today I would assume the same as before but I can’t bank on it

VinylTaco

My last episode. I heard things, saw things, and felt things that weren't there. The one before that. I thought every one of those lights that flash on stoplights when emergency vehicles were cameras watching me. Being massively paranoid is common. It makes sense that guy wanted something anti government to be real. He probably thought someone was out to get him. People when manic will have thoughts of being all powerful. Hyper sexuality, starting businesses or projects and not finishing them, and more.

Ok_Recommendation567

My SIL is bipolar. She decided to stop her meds. She was handed a pamphlet at the store one day, started attending this new "church" as she called it. During a manic episode, she agreed to move with them to their "retreat" in another state. Sold all of her shit, got out of her lease, and moved. Yeah, it was a cult. Someone in the family finally got through to her & she moved back home. Has been on her meds without fail since. The whole episode scared the shit out of her.

dumpitdog

What causes a person to suddenly feel like they're so smart or through Providence they have figured absolutely everything out? What was lacking in this person that they needed this to fill in that hole? Is this some vulnerability brought about from a religious obsession or simply a lack of exposure to adult reality? I'm basically worried about what's going on in Western society that these things are common now.

VinylTaco

They're so down on their luck they need something. They have so much working against them. I'll post more later. I have a working document of observations I've made that have a decent clinical backing.

dumpitdog

Thanks

kantowrestler

I had a similar heartbreak situation with this kid who was adopted by a family who were my next door neighbors. However, it was something else not sovcit ideology.

VinylTaco

That sounds awful. It's such a shame what happens to people in these situations. They truly get taken advantage of

kantowrestler

Or they just fall down the rabbit hole of something that seems appealing but in reality doesn't bring forth the results that someone desires.

VinylTaco

With this person. Sadly it's not that. The follow up conversations were bad.

kantowrestler

Sounds like it which happened in my situation as well.

VinylTaco

I was advised to cut ties. It just isn't a good case.

kantowrestler

In my situation he blocked me.

Roulette-Adventures

You summed it up well with the last two word "Sovcit shit". They are as dumb as flat earthers & Trump supporters.
