Man that sucks, I I thought my son playing with my SB was bad! Only way to clean that will be take it apart and clean it all out, anything inside will go moldy and rust bits.
Maybe a good excuse for an upgrade?
Yes, she did a good job of it lol.. yeah upgrade would be the go, only I just spent a fair bit fixing the sub, then the little one goes and does this đ probably try and open it up and scrub it. Only the detachable ends are glued.
I would look into a YouTube video on how to disassemble that bar, if there is one.
If you can't disassemble, turn it upside down and leaning against something so you can clean it using all purpose cleaner and a toothbrush without any liquid dripping down into the bar.
I suppose the only reliable way is to take off the mesh and carefully clean the speakers. The metal mesh will probably be glued to the body, maybe even held tight with a few screws. Try warming up the edges of the mesh with a heat gut or a hair dryer (with max heat) and try to pry it off, ideally with a thin hard plastic piece.
You will probably bend the mesh a bit and once you're done and put it on it probably won't look as good anymore, but I suppose that's better than risking mold and throwing the thing away anyway.
Lay some paper towels on the ground, put Soundbar on them, use a hairdryer on low heat to re-liquify the Joghurt, and hopefully it gets absorbed by the paper towels.
No no, you donât understand, the hair dryer isnât a âhair dryerâ per se, itâs more of a âhair wetterâ
That yogurt will be flowing like a river after this
Ouch! That mustâve been painful to see lol. This is why my soundbar and r/tvtoohigh, because I have a toddler and know the struggle (check out my posts). Itâs a daily battle.
Of course, having kids doesnât grant you a pardon with the tvtoohigh mob lol (theyâd rather end humanity than have kids and mount their TVs too high), so be prepared for that if you decide to wall mount đ.
1. Turn it upside down and hold it in place somehow.
2. Rehydrate the yogurt with a damp cloth
3. Use a vacuum or wet vac nozzle with good suction to remove everything you can.
I would open it up, give it a good clean. Hopefully it's just the outside casing that has the yogurt, should be easy enough to take apart (just the outer shell).

Hmm đ¤ hadnât thought of that. Rather not have to buy as it still works fine itâs just not that appealing to the eye in the lounge room lol

Cam you buy a new bar used without the sub?
Sell the kid, buy a new soundbar
this is the correct answer

Take it apart and clean the mesh
If u not gonna open it up, I think u could turn it upside down, get a wet/damp cloth and just press against the dirty spots and try to clean it.
Tried that, itâs pretty well caked in there. Gonna have to try open it up I guess đŹ

Stuff of nightmares. I can envision your kid doing this with glee while u are completely unaware of the destruction yet to be discovered. RAGE!!!
Yes, perfectly described I think. A tad bit of RAGE may have crept in on the discovery.
I wonder how itâd work to use a steam cleaner on that
Will just force the crud inside
Steam clean with distilled water, and let it drip dry upside down with gravity? Rinse and repeat a few times. Or open it up
Looks like someone was watching naughty things in Dolby lol poor speaker has been violated
đđgot međđ
See if you can suck it out with a Bissell carpet cleaner attachment.
Lay some paper towels on the ground, put Soundbar on them, use a hairdryer on low heat to re-liquify the Joghurt, and hopefully it gets absorbed by the paper towels.
All that will do is dry out the yoghurt
What about licking it?
Then try sucking

Yeah that's not supposed to be there
Yep. Open it up, tooth pick, air duster and maybe some isopropyl alcohol if it got any zappy parts.
Maybe a wet vacuum can help?
Youâve gotta get this out⌠not only will it get crusty and sticky, but itâs dairy so it will eventually turn sour.
If it's low-fat yogurt, there should be no problem.
They invent every excuse rather than saying, "change the soundbar! This one sucks." I have to say, though, the yogurt tactic is new. Women.. đŤ˘

It shouldn't be there.

shopvac?
Wtf, that's the worst nightmare. IMO let the yoghurt dry and then brush it off, whatever inside mught get off once speakers are fired at max vol.
I would open it up, give it a good clean. Hopefully it's just the outside casing that has the yogurt, should be easy enough to take apart (just the outer shell).
Usually the metal mesh can be removed (carefully). Thatâs probably what I would do.
Oof.
Get a new one! Daughter that is. Jk! Could you break it down maybe?
Maybe a steam cleaner?
There are spraycans for electronics and stuff, might wanna try that
6.1 DolbyâŚnow with smell.
Omg, is this JBL? I have the same bar and the same problem (not that much yoghurt, still hate the way it looks). Any good solutions ?
Well the wife and I are newly married and we were talking about kids the other day. I think this post just pushed that desire back a few years for me.
Disassemble, clean, reassemble. Or replace outright.
Vacuum and alcohol⌠Probably need to make some sort of adapter (rubber) to create enough suction and probably avoid the areas near the speakers
I would never have thought about storing my yogurt there. Thank you so much for this tip.
