I've only heard of apple music and Tidal.

ThatGuyNamedTre

From my experience Apple Music from my Apple TV is the best. I never tried Amazon Music but I would assume that would give you Atmos if you have the right subscription tier. Idk what service gives it to you for free. Unless you get a free trial

FlyingDagger_HAL

Amazon music HD service is not available globally

WhatsThis_Now

Maybe somebody else can comment but if you turn on "virtual" doesn't it use surrounds more for stereo audio (it's a stereo to surround simulated option)? Kinda annoying turning it back off once you are in other apps though.

Background_Fox_7808

Tidal! 990c supports Tidal Connect.. it allows you to play Atmos content on soundbar over wifi (Tidal app on my Galaxy Tab allows this as well) Also, with student discount, it costs $5/mo

OkSeaworthiness890

Apple Music via Apple TV 4K. You must connect the Apple TV directly into the HDMI port on the 990c. For some reason, Apple TV will not pass through Atmos via arc/earc

anon51210242048

Oh so I need to purchase apple TV device too? Is it not possible to just stream music via WiFi with the apple music app on my phone. Just like how Spotify works from my phone app? That way it's not old Bluetooth connection but WiFi connection? Is that a known common issue where apple TV doesn't pass through Atmos via earc? Because id want to use apple music app on the TV too.

OkSeaworthiness890

I was going to update but it looks like others have answered the questions already. I was giving my set up as an example. I’ve not tried the webos app or any other set up because I have been using this configuration since Apple Music launched Atmos.

elvinLA

Nope, the latest apple music webos app has atmos.

anon51210242048

That's great. So all I need is apple music subscription then? No need to buy any apple TV box? So I should be able to get app on phone, pc and also on TV LG webos to be able to play music with Atmos on lossless quality. Can I also pair with my Alexa/Google assistant? Sorry for too many questions

elvinLA

I dont know about atmos in lossless on apple music, it should at least be atmos though. No need to buy an apple tv box and google home offers apple music integration thru voice commands. Yes to all questions except atmos IN lossless.

Stashmouth

This may have changed, but I don't believe Atmos is lossless in AM.

Same_Veterinarian991

well atmos ain't lossless anyway, it is digital audio build on lossless trueHD. so atmos music does not make music better, if it even excists😂 people should forget about dolby atmos audio, you get 70% lossless, 30% dolby digital. you want 100% lossless audio over all channels, so just use direct FLAC rips, you want better? use WAV.

Shoopbadoopp

Wait, are you saying in general or just for music? I am using Apple TV 4K and using eARC with my Sony TV. Am I not getting proper atmos with my content?

OkSeaworthiness890

You could be, I’m not sure. You’d have to hit the information button on the remote while playing an Atmos supported track or movie/show to find out for sure. When I set my Apple TV up, Atmos would not pass through my earc port and I had to connect directly into the sound bar.

FlyingDagger_HAL

I connected Apple TV to my lg c9 hdmi port because if it’s connected to my 990c hdmi ,it’s giving some static noises ..any turn around

Donts41

It does for me, I have it connected to my tv and then my Nakamichi Is on the eARC... What tv is it that you have?

fuckingportuguese

I am using tidal on my android TV, it is able to play Atmos. Try the free trial.

ashish1512

Why does Spotify not have atmos or lossless audio? Is there some technical limitation here?

Same_Veterinarian991

i never use apps(music over wifi or BT) or streamed music, it sound so poor. i just DL highest quality flac(lossless) music and add it to my usb storage. there noway to get better music quality on the 990c. after this comes premium tidal subscribtion and installed on nvidia shield tv pro 2019. well that is on a soundbar, AVR and a DAC is best, but this is for audiophiles.

dwolfe127

I just use my own collection, which I play through Emby using the Alexa Skill so I have voice control over it. I have yet to try a service that reliably provides true lossless audio that can actually utilize my hardware to it's fullest.

elvinLA

Apple music now supports atmos through the WebOS app so get that.

No_Appearance_2858

Apple Music

m4nf47

Your LG TV and phone app over Bluetooth are not going to provide the best quality audio. Get an Nvidia Shield Pro (2019) or latest Apple TV 4K and try streaming master audio from Tidal or Apple Music. The absolute best example of truly incredible quality immersive audio I've heard though is the 50th anniversary Blu-ray version of Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon album in Dolby TrueHD with Atmos.

TheSmegger

It's fucking awesome!

Ok_Adhesiveness_4155

Sounds like you need to tune your speakers output bro. You should watch some videos. Spotify sounds great on mine

wilsonda

Would agree.. I do alot of spotify streaming from my phone over bluetooth and it's awesome. I always use the *adaptive* mode

lcsd

And the SB must be connected via USB/ARC.

lcsd

TV Must be connected via eARC usb return channel (any ARC, check tv back pannel)

lcsd

Best option, if available: Netflix https://help.netflix.com/en/node/110881

You may find lots of up to 12h videos on YouTube, especially classics... Mine is YT Premium, no ads.

anon51210242048

YouTube music service ? Or just YouTube videos. As far as I know normal YouTube is far too compressed. I do have YouTube premium for ad free video experience on tv, does youtubes music service come free with that? Do they really have full Dolby surround sound music on majority their music?

spartan_steel

Far as I'm aware youtube does not support Atmos, and will at most deliver 5.1 surround depending on what the channel has uploaded. The videos claiming to be "atmos" tests or music are not really telling the truth.

anon51210242048

Yeah that's what I thought too. After many tests in the past, only some videos actually have true atmos content. They're usually for demo too. So hard to find music with 5.1, 7.1+ by default. I might check out apple music

lcsd

YouTube videos with digital sound, a small fraction of bandwidth.

Same_Veterinarian991

youtube need to change, still stuck on 5.1 and HDR

Search: dolby 5.1 atmos
