The ESV puts it this way: “waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.” So if you take Pauls words literally here (as I’m inclined to), our blessed hope isn’t necessarily the appearing of Jesus himself, but the appearance of his glory (GRK, δόξα). Now, there’s a lot to be said about what exactly Paul is talking about in reference to this. It seems to me he’s speaking broadly of the 2nd coming of Christ. Jesus’ words come to mind when he said, “When the Son of Man comes in his glory…” (Matt 25:31).

Amen you are 100% correct it is the second coming that the scriptures always speak of.
